Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas on storage and artwork for Amiga 500 games?

I have about 50 original games that are unboxed from my child hood. They have been in a floppy disc storage box in a cardboard box for years. Then I came accross this site that provides game box art.

http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Amiga_Game_Box_Scans

Mr Sheep2001 has created a lightning fast Virtua Tennis DC Custom for me and whilst being very nosy I came across a dvd template in PS he has made http://www.box.com/shared/qmp5q4gmh5/1/92712817/760477732
(hope that is ok to share mate).

Maybe we could start an Amiga Cat Under the Computer section.

That got me thinking anyone else interested?

Ive just been messing around with Sheep2001's Template and made this:

I think DVD cases must be the way to go. I don't have a floppy to see what the fit is like.

My Fave game of all time BTW  ;D

Floppies fit just fine in DVD case.  Not sure they would fit in a psp case, and manual definitely won't.  Might try the discs though.

I have most of my collection cased,  but the covers use low quality art as it was while my scanner was out of action.  I really should go back and tidy them up........

PSP cases is a definite nono. Floppy discs won't fit properly.

DVD cases is definitely the way to go though most of the time the manuals won't fit at all and you also have to consider that man Amiga games came with a shitload of extra content you have no place to store in a normal case of any kind.

Shadow of the BEST???? LOL

Just a few pointers - i know i used some low quality stuff from the net - but try to at least get some things with no watermark on.  Mobygames should always be a last resort - the quality of their stuff is 99.99% not usable when scaled to a large size for a cover.

I generally use mobygames to get an idea of how the retail box looked, then using photoshop i replace the text, and screenshots and lastly background layer to get a crisper finish.

For the front - you might want to go the custom route and either find a dfecent sized megadrive/genesis cover to take the front image from, or something like this: http://www.360magazine.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/logo.jpg  and then superimpose the game title logo on afterwards.

i did a quick job just to show you what i mean.  it's a bit basic, but at least the text/etc is readable, and no watermarks.

its in the usual place........

dumping all the ones i already did onto my box.net.

to be honest, some are fine, most need attention, especially the backs - but you may find some of them of use:

Top man, I have at least half of those. Still love my A500. Ive got ink and more paper on order ready. Think this site needs an Amiga Section bad.

Most I would say no.  I'll try and tidy some up this week.  I should be able to scan a lot of the backs now, so hopefully not a huge amount of text retyping.

@Tik - ok i have tidied and upped art of chess - everything retyped/ocr'd.  Could you take a look, and let me know if you think it's good enough quality to benchmark against, or if it needs further improvement befre i start with any others.  Thanks.
