just a quick question for anyone out there who can help me. I just got an LCD 42" LG HDTV, and was wondering if i could get a better picture by hooking up a retro console to my DVD player via composite and then hook that up to the TV via component or S-video. I dont have any component cables on hand so i cant try it yet, but i wanted to see if anyone here already knows. it doesnt look to good when its hooked up directly to the tv. thanks |

Won't do anything unless your DVD player has a decent video scaler in it. Which console are you trying to improve? |

I use this cord for snes and n64 for s-video and it looks pretty great. http://www.racketboy.com/store/featured/nintendo-svideo-cables.html Heres a cheap component cable for ps2 http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-Analog-Component-Sony-2-3/dp/B0032Z4OMA/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1329464712&sr=8-5 Good luck! |

PS2 can do component, Dreamcast should be VGA. Most of the rest can do RGB Scart which you would then need to feed into a RGB to YUV transcoder. NES you can't do much about. These are just connection solutions, nothing to do with upscaling the signal at all, so end picture quality will be down to how good your TV's internal scaling is. |
