Is it just me or does it seem pointless to buy PS3 games when they first come out?  Resident Evil 5 -- then RE5 GOLD?  Mortal Kombat -- then MK Komplete Edition.  What the fuck is up with that?  Also, can you now download full ps3 games onto your ps3?

It not just the PS3, its actually both consoles. Its annoying if you're an earlier adopter.
Every company is trying to get their piece of the "game of the year edition w/ all dlc" pie.

Its all about the developer trying to get a resurgence of game sales post launch.  Its a trend that will only increase over time ... just ask capcom about that.  ;)

PC games have been doing stuff like this for ages. It was kinda an inevitability once consoles went online and started having DLC.

Personally, I'm glad these versions exist, it means it'll be possible to play that extra content long after the severs are shut down. I feel the same way about DL game compilations.

yeah, it annoys me because you dont want to buy the new game because it is going to cost 60 dollars and you wont get the dl, so you wait til the price cuts for
at laest a year, but by that time, there's alredy the game of the year edition, so it still costs a lot. else, pay 80 to 100 dollars to get the stupid toy and the nice cover, plus
stupid dlc such as character skins. if all this i mentioned doesn't happen, then theres a greatest hits edition that will look crappy on your collection, so you'll have
to search on ebay for a decent copy of the original version and pay 10 dllrs more for a used copy than the new greatest hits.

OOOOOOR

you can always pay 50 bucks for a nintendo game, they rarely cut prices, just nintendo selects which suck and have that stupid eco boxes full of holes that damage the alredy shrinked cover
with red spines

or just dont bother with DLC, if the people who made the game wanted that content there in the first place they would have put it in!, its just another way of the publishers trying to part you from your money

Haha, if only... a lot of DLC is very clearly stuff that was cut from the game, or otherwise things that should be part of the game...

I hate the new era of downloading DLC... I would rather have a complete disc...  Should I wait to buy Sonic Generations for PS3?  Any predictions on if that will get re-released in a complete edition?

which ties in with the second part of my post, but also think about this, the developers work on these games for years, which is more than enough time to decide what does and doesnt go in, if your going to make a 'special' edition in 6 months which contains all the extra stuff, why not just delay the initial release and include all that stuff in the first place? that would also give them time to iron out any bugs etc.
