I would really think this were even awesomer is there were sega and atari covers for this style too.....

Hint Hint

See with this template it's more really for Nintendo games. Not saying that Sega or Atari wouldn't look interesting with it but most of Sega's artwork as I said a few pages back is vertical in nature so you would be cropping alot of it off just to fit it to the front window, where as Nintendo's artwork is mostly horizontal in nature and fits really well with this template.

@TyrannicalFascist

What's weird is I installed the font yet my editing program says I still don't have it installed, oh well, must be because it's so old. Still going to be fun to see what we can do for this template.

I wanted to ask, do you think the transparent background should be blue on all of them or different colours TyrannicalFascist? Also what about the few games that aren't just for N64? I'm guessing just have the front N64 logo maybe and delete the back one.

The transparent background should be whatever color you want, just like the NES and SNES covers. You should be able to hide/unhide the "Only For" logos, in photoshop anyways.

Tweeked my TWINE cover a small bit and updated with a new link.

Ask for the whole expansion pak cover thing I noticed something.

When it comes to games like The World Is Not Enough, Rush 2049 & Duke Nukem Zero Hour, the original box says "Designed For Expansion Pak" but the games are fully playable 100% without it, so I think "Expansion Pak Compatible" is the better option to put on the front.

"Designed For Expansion Pak" I believe should be used with Perfect Dark only since you can't play most of the game without it so in tern it was "Designed For The Expansion Pak".

And of course Donkey Kong 64 and Legend Of Zelda ~ Majoras Mask should be the yellow label with "Requires Expansion Pak" since the N64 refuses to play the games without it.

Yeah that was my intention for those. It's also why the "Expansion Pak Required" icon is a different color, because it says to someone "Hey! This is important! It's required!"

I recall that icon being a different color on the originals as well. Yellow, right?

I recall that icon being a different color on the originals as well. Yellow, right?

On the original boxes for Perfect Dark and Zelda Majoras Mask, they are in full colour and they say Required for Maximum Game Play (PD) and Required for Game Play (ZMM). On the Donkey Kong 64 boy it's yellow and says Required For Game Play. On any other box they are white, so the only covers that would need the yellow Expansion Pak on the fusion covers are Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong 64 and Zelda Majoras Mask. What's funny is Pokemon Stadium 2 uses the Expansion Pak for high res mode but it doesn't say a thing about it on the box.

The weirdest one I've seen is Duke Nukem Zero Hour where it puts the Rumble and Expansion Pak together, but forgets to mention you need the Controller Pak to save.

Speaking of the controller pak, that thing always made me mad as a kid, especially games like California Speed, or Mario Kart that used half or the whole damn thing WTF?! Guess we need to pay attention to those "hollow" "1/2" and "Full" Icons for this template.

Also speaking of other icons TyrannicalFascist, think we need a VRU icon for Hey You Pikachu? I know it's one of the only games that use it but it would be cool to see it as a white icon on the front cover  ;)

Anyway got another almost done, just need the green spine and California Speed will be up. I tried other colours with the transparent background but they didn't look right at all, I think it's the fact that Red, Green and Blue just go well together.

And yes I changed the boxart to the arcade flyer since the checkerboard flag on the original box is boring, but I will have the original boxart on the front as well as a separate cover.

Yeah I just wanted to have the expansion pak icons simplified into "needed to play" and for those where it enhances the game. The games that use it are listed on Wikipedia, so cover makers can look to that for which games could use or needed the expansion pak. I'd say on games that could use it but didn't advertise it, it should be added so that these new covers have the most complete information.

I'll take a look at the VRU. Since it was only required for one game, the maker of that cover could use the sample text in the icons folder and a custom icon to make an accessory icon for it on the cover.

Your cover looks great! Blue does seem to work well on a lot of them. Just to let everyone know, I may not be making covers for the next week or two. It's crunch time with school, and I'm studying really hard for a test-out which (if I pass) could save me from taking 2 classes and I'd complete my degree now.

It's a shame that other things could have been used for the VRU but it's calibrated for high pitched children's voices so it's kind of funny playing Hey You Pikachu as an adult, the little rat never does what you say, well most of the time he does for me, thanks to my voice being kind of high still at 21  :P

But, looking at the icons made for the NES and SNES covers, the VRU shouldn't be too much of a challenge for someone.

And thank you, the N64 is starting to look great with this template, can't wait to see the more popular ones being made.  ;)

Good luck on your schooling TyrannicalFascist, hope you get your degree and hope to see you back soon!

Nice work!

I got a few spare minutes and wrapped up a pair of covers I started after I finished the GameCube template.

NES & SNES retroPort controller adapters by RetroUSB

Not to be confused with the NES RetroPort by Retro-Bit for the SNES (which I made a cover for already), these covers are for RetroUSB's controller adapters that let you use NES or SNES controllers on the GameCube or Wii. While they were intended for the Wii, they use the GameCube port, so I opted to make them a GameCube accessory. If a similar device was made to connect the controllers to a Wii Remote or wirelessly to a Wii, then it would be a Wii accessory.

Did they not make a N64 one?  I know there was supposed to be one that you could plug all 3 into and then plug it into the GameCube port of the Wii.

I'm not aware of an individual N64 to GameCube controller adapter, though I haven't investigated much.

I just found this place: http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products.php?cmd=list&category=Adapters . It looks like they have their own SNES to GameCube, N64 to GameCube, Sega (MS, GEN, GEN 6-button)/Atari to GameCube, and even GameCube to N64 and GameCube to NES! Interesting possibilities there...

Is this the 4-in-1 adapter you mean? I intend to do that one very soon.
