For Mario 3, the Japanese art is SOOOOO much better!  I don't know why they trimmed it down to nothing for us :-\  Total weaksauce.

On a side note, SMB3 was my 1st JAP import ever.  I prolly have more nostalgia for that cover than any other game out there  :D

Also, I totally understand why you guys would want US art, don't get me wrong ;)

I totally agree with you there, the Japanese artwork reminds me alot of the game, where the American artwork is just oh, it's Mario flying. I also like the Japanese title in the Mario Brothers font with the 3 having a raccoon tail.

Speaking of that font, if anyone wants it:

See, I keep saying I won't do any of these, and yet...

But this gives you kind of an idea what I was thinking as far as making the background and spine color change to match each game's original box. If it had more than one color, I'd say just go with whichever one is predominant or fits best. I'll maybe tackle Super Mario Bros., and a couple repro games like The Lost Levels, Vs. Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. Special, but other than that I think I'll stay out of the NES covers for a while and stick to SNES.

Here's the template. It's not quite as perfectly organized as the SNES template, but you guys can take this as a starting point.

I think it's the fact that those few NES games you may have look lonely on the shelf without your awesome template  :P

I really like them, the fact you have the original cover art with the extra artwork in the background, gives it a special touch than just 3 TV shaped boxes on the back. I can't wait to see what the rest of the Mario games look like, you're an amazing artist. And thanks alot for the template :)
