Plasma, LED, or LCD?
(1/3) > >>

I've about had it with playing my older consoles on my hdtv, they look like shit and even my upscaler only helps a little.  Of the 3 types of TVs available today, which would be the best for a guy who plays NES, SNES, N64 and Genesis?  Plasma, LCD or LED.  I don't know the difference, and to be honest I don't even know what my TV is.
Polygon:
I hate to break it to you, old systems will look like crap on plasma, LCD, or and LED backlit LCD. Unless you're willing to do some modding to your systems. Otherwise, again, I suggest a CRT for retro systems.
AppleQueso:
Plasmas (especially the Panasonic Vieras) play a lot nicer with SD signals than LCD and LED tvs from what I understand.

Either way, like I said in the other thread, with HDTVs, signal quality is very important. Try to at least get s-video cables for everything.

You could alternatively try hunting down one of those Sony Trinitron HD CRTs. Heavy as hell and quite bulky, but they're the best of both worlds. Keep an eye on craigslist, etc.

I have no problem having my consoles modded.  Is there a website you guys can recommend?  I live in the US and have US systems.
tiktektak:
Old consoles look best on CRTs especially old Sony Trinitons or if you have a big budget a back projection TV.
