--- Quote from: AxelSteelBMX on August 13, 2013, 12:18:10 AM ---As a buyer, I feel similarly. I keep a decent tab of what things are going for, so I always aim for around that value when I'm bidding. Y'know, I want to get a good deal, but I also know the seller needs to feel good about the sale as well (I'll go above value if I REALLY want the item, though). But I feel like it's becoming more and more impossible to actually win a fucking auction anymore without using some kind of sniping tool. The last eight auctions I've bid on were good, solid items I wanted, and I offered decent cash for them, too. Each and every single time I got beat out by some asshole who somehow bid the minimum increment above my maximum bid with 2 seconds left on the fucking clock. The luckiest I've got recently is a copy of Christmas NiGHTS for $7.00 (I turned out to be double-lucky too, because the guy who sold it sent the damn thing "protected" by a paper CD sleeve in an unpadded manila envelope with the words "DON'T BEND" scribbled on it, yet it somehow arrived in one piece anyway). Everything else I've gotten recently has been from Buy It Now listings. I feel very much like eBay is becoming the new Amazon (for me, at least), in that if I can't just click a button to buy an item immediately I can kiss that shit goodbye. feelsbadman.jpg EDIT: Oh, why don't I use any sniping tools? 'Cause I feel like that's shady and bullshit and I'd rather not contribute to the problem. I dunno, I guess at heart I still believe in the goodness of my fellow man. What a dumbass I am. --- End quote --- actually ebay has one click bids built in, you can only use the [1-Click bid] button towards the very end of an auction and only if you previously bid on the item! ill often camp out an auction for its last few minutes to make sure I win it if I want it very badly. also ebay allows you to put a max bid which allows ebay to automatically bid on a Item on your behalf up to the max amount you entered when ever someone out bids you! thats another tool to use if you cant make it for the last few mins of an auction! These are to tools provided to every one by ebay themselves no downloads or anything and both could account for you so called sniping tools but ive also seen the kinda tools your talking about. |

I know about max bids; use it all the time. I guess I wasn't 100% clear on the usage of 1-Click Bids. I've used that functionality, but I guess not in the way you're describing. That's interesting. Today I Learned. Cheers. |

Damn it. I have something like 150+ items to list on eBay. Did a bit of cleaning out my collection. Bunch of avg quality commons I don't really want or have room for. Then a bunch of manuals/art for games I don't have, etc etc. This is going to be a very long day. The bulk of them are going to be listed in small lots, but that's still a lot of cart cleaning. |

Or you could just make your maximum bid from the start. Crazy, I know. |
