thanks most helpful :),  do you have any more pics like that for other pokemon games, and are there bootlegs of Black and White floating around on there as well?

Check Amazon. There's some great guides over there specifically for finding bootlegs and whatnot. That's where I found the pic I posted ;)

A half blind person would be able to differ those gba games from the real ones. ;D

That is the pity with US gba games. There are soooooo many boots around it's as bad as with some US Neo Geo games. ::)

Which on the other hand is good for me as a EU guy. PAL GBA games were almost never bootleged so it's pretty safe to buy around here.

Yeah, it is, but you'd have to know what the US version looks like in the 1st place in order to distinguish between the two.  I wouldn't have known unless I looked it up, since I don't know squat about Pokemon games.

I also found some youtube vids of people getting fakes, and they go over what to look out for.

I was never real big on pokemon ether.  I only played red and then gold so that my brother would have some one to trade with. But lately with all the talk about black and white, its been getting me in the mood to play one these games again.

Why can't knock off makers put a label on straight?  It's one of the biggest tells from afar and it seems like the easiest thing to get right while making a fake.

Because, when making knockoffs to sell at 1/4 the price of an actual, legit copy, one must cut corners.  I'm sure the mantra in the bootleg GBA factory is "make as many as possible, as quickly as possible".

Instead of making bootleg pokemon games they should make something like a translated Mother 3 cart.

Scanners have a lot of delicate moving parts.  Not really surprised they would stop working after being bashed around in the postal system.

What happens when you try to use them?  Do you hear the motors try to work, or are they silent?

One of them was a brick and did nothing. Second the light did not come on, and the third just makes a clicking noise.

Even if i did 'collect' at this level - not sure i'd be happy that the eproms were now exposed - even with the so called UV protection.  UTTER MADNESS!
