Dude has anybody seen this type of gamecube controller before?!?

Apparently it is a controller released alongside or for the gameboy player? Im in the process of getting a GB player for my Cube and ran into this can someone drop some knowledge on me please Thanks my fellow gamers
It was made by HORI who are one of the
best third party controller manufacturers. As you can see, it's a Gamecube controller shaped like an SNES controller (
although it has a bit more handle-age in the back).
However, since it stuck with the GCN's face button layout, with the giant A and tiny everything else, it's still not ideal for a lot of uses (ie other retro or retro-ish releases on the GCN) it's okay for the Gameboy Player (since A and B are all you have to worry about), though, and certainly a step up over the regular GCN controller.
Unfortunately most adapters to use other controllers that might be ideal (SNES, PS2, Wii Classic Controller Pro, etc) with the GCN either
don't work with the Gameboy Player (it won't detect any button input from them) or have some less than ideal mappings (SNES controller's select mapped to Z because that's how the Wii VC maps it instead of X/Y like on the GB Player).
Honestly, I'd recommend just getting a GCN/GBA link cable and using an (original) GBA.
