Yeah, like these guys said, it's a useless lump of plastic without the disc.  There are ISO files out there, but you need a modded system or boot disc to make a burned disc work (obviously).

Just borrow someone's boot disc and never turn off the GC... you can even swap carts in it without turning it off!  :P

I dont know anyone that has one of these,  plus that would be very annoying every time I needed to use this bugging someone for their disc.

  • It's dangerous to go alone...
Boot discs are very easy to find, but they cost more alone than with the unit. It'll run you around $20, but sometimes more if prices are trending up. I bought my NGC Gameboy Player with the boot disc for $30 total shipped to my door off of eBay, if you're patient you can find both together for some pretty low prices. Alternatively, if you can find the unit for very cheap (around $10-$15 bucks with shipping included), you can always buy the disc later. Those stay pretty steady at $20.
I'm looking for vol. 2, 4, and 5 of the Orchestral Game Music Concert CDs. I'll pay well if it's authentic and doesn't skip. :)

You can easily get a complete GBP for ~$20 shipped if you're patient.

I couldn't score that low and gave in early. Oracle of Ages was calling to me - it needed the big screen treatment.  ;D

did you even bother seeing if a GS near you had any? $10 used...$9 with card.  closest to me is 40 miles north. pretty sure PnT wouldn't charge much (if any) more than GS if you have one of them around

$30 on the nose. Prices at the time were more around $40 or even $45 so I feel like I got out alright. And Gameboy titles on a big projector screen amounts to something like a religious experience.  ;D

30 bucks is definitely nothing to be sad about :)

So, I realized that I never mintioned my score in this thread. I bought 3 store return red 3DS systems knowing that they're all still under warranty (the red one came out last september and they have a 1 year warranty).  200 bucks, all like new in their boxes. I got the first one back last night. Been messing around with it a bunch today. Definitely a fun toy, and it was a steal for about 65 bucks ;D

but your going to be looking at about $200 for the PS3 all together now... You might as well have just gotten a new one for a few bucks more with a warranty and much larger hard drive.

I suppose if you are that serious about the backwards compatibility then its not bad.

My 80gb (Now 250) gathers dust....never use it for anything.

I wish I had a fully B/C PS3. Having to drag out the PS2 is a chore. But, by the time I bought a PS3 (the first time), that wasn't an option, and with how poorly the current crop of consoles hold up, I didn't wanna risk buying a used 1st gen system. Too many are YLODing as far as I can tell.
