i agree. I first loved Sidearms in the arcade. later, i found the PC version for $5 at a Wal-Mart clearance pile, and was elated.  When i got the TG16, loved the game, but the cover was so ugly and so not how I would make it...many years later i actually get to be the cover artist! i love having a printer and the internet!!!
I just scanned it, but the cover is too big to fit (i've used the box to store TG16 instruction booklets for decades now):

lol, Yah there is another bizarre version you got there with another different storyline what happen to the "mobilsuit" and "bozon" from the arcade flyer. I cant believe that one at least the tg 16 one is kind of a man with a suit this is like a fighter craft, its like they didnt even bother to play the actual game or look at a picture where its clearly a mech/robot.

why is the legal info in the back sometimes on the right and sometimes on the left?
"Could this be... an omen?!"

thx, well depending on the size of the storyline and the amount of screen shots and shot size some times there more room on one side and it fits better. (The shots are new pictures taken with an emulator)

I have the main template done for just tg16 games when i get time I want to work on a cd and super cd version then Ill upload. I may have to start a thread for it with some instructions and tips for how to use it so it looks like the ones i made already.

Not bad at all.

I suppose you want to keep it all orange because of uniformity right?

Afaik Duo CD games were in many different colors.

Well the only other color that looks good is purple but im not sure if there is enough contrast with the black and im out of printer ink to see how it looks in RL. Some duo cases used purple and even one of the system had purple color text and button, if people like the purple we could do all the duo/cds in purple otherwise Id stick with orange.

Hm the violett looks a bit crushing. ;D

By the way there were also TCD games in

black: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/3/563763_57369_front.jpg
light blue: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/7/563797_86644_front.jpg
yellow: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/2/916112_47817_front.jpg
turquoise: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/3/589213_40586_front.jpg
red: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/3/589273_99215_front.jpg
pink: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/4/589274_101101_front.jpg

It seems like almost every us release with the Turbo strip on the jewel cases front had different colors.

If you would be really wicked you could include every color ever used for a TCD game. ;D

This would be an insane amount of work and research though.

@tiktektak
I slid through the color range and no other colors really looked good imo.

Well this template is just based off of the orange cd case style (well mainly, I looked at some other tg stuff but the main focus was the orange spine) and im trying to only have one style. one thing i didnt like with tg16 is how the cases had the different styles and didnt stick to one, they had the orange case, the genre color tab cd cases, then you had games like sidearms that had there own lable on the cd case spine. then if we include the cd games theres even more styles.  this is kinda like my opinion for genesis boxes I like the original style like sonic 1 had and the red spine like sonic 3 had but wished they would of just had one or the other the old one is kinda nostalgic and matches the original system but the red spine would probably win do to how it went with sega cd and 32x and saturn games etc.

I do think it would be a cool idea if someone wanted to make another template based off of just the genre color version style and then did all the games in that (including the orangebox and then something vary similar for duo/cds games)

@codewerkx
thx,  I made some available a few posts back from my site for people to check out, will be uploading all of them to this site soon, just want to finish this template. then will probably make a new thread since id like to make a tutorial of some sort. what do you think about the purple for duo and cds?
----------------------------------------
Any one else have any opinions? go with the purple for duo/tgcds or just stay with the orange for them. (the hucards are going to stay orange just talking about the cds here) Id like to here some more peoples thoughts or opinions :)

Well I think I may go with the purple for duo unless I get some more opinions, Im starting to like it the more I look at it.

For fun I modded a few of my orange cases to the genre style case to see how it would look. the genre categories are kinda weird like how devils crush is action or aero blasters being arcade.. :-\

Hmmm. I dunno. The purple looks a bit smashing. ;)

Especially if there were so many different colors for CD games just using one (purple) on all would be strange. Maybe it would be best to leave them all orange.

Like multiple colours. Like the catagory style. The only thing i would suggest is that if you could do it, editing out repeats of 'NEC' and 'Turbo Grfx' from the fronts of stuff like Bomberman and Devil's Crash would make them look even better. This is not a criticism, only a suggestion as i know from personal expierience that painting that kind of stuff out can be a real pain at times. Keep up the good work. :)
(i have a JP Bomberman i started ages ago. I really should find time to finish it.)

@tiktektak
well I think it might be good to have the cd games stand out like if genesis games fit in a dvd case they would be red spine and sega cd would have blue. but then maybe people want there games in alphabetical order and want them all to match too, so maybe Could do both. so like
hucards - orange
cd/supercd - orange and purple versions

@grumbleduke
I agree and i did get rid of a few of the easy nec labels but otherwise to big of a pain for most of them i think, I did replace the nec and tg16 logos on all though ( I placed new versions over the old to have them look nicer)

ok so people like the color coded genre versions too. well I'll add that to the template so we can do all the versions without much extra work.

hucards - orange + color coded
cd/supercd - orange + purple + color coded

again it should be easy once you have one version done to do the other 1 or 2 (should take less than 5 minutes)
will take me some more time to get the template done need to clean it up redo some stuff and organize, plus been a little busy lately but hopefully have it up soon (could take me a week or two though) ...have to do some research on all the colors and make all of them.

Edit- I started a new thread and posted the template for the orange and color style - below is the link
http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=4007.0
I also edited some of my posts in this thread  to make them smaller- made most of the pictures links
I'm going to upload the final version of the covers I made asap
