How about this device?  Is it my understanding that I would plug my Composite cables coming out of the NES into this thing, then it would display in HD?

Yes, that might work.
It will enabe you to connect NES to HDMI, but does remove the borders I can't tell.

Will this product help me?  Please read the description carefully.  It uses Xbox and Playstation as examples, but nothing as old as the NES:

http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/video-converters/vga-rgb-hv-to-dvi-hdmi/pyro-av-pvc-986/prodPVC986.html

Nope.

NES outputs only composite (and RF).
To use this you'l need someting that outputs Component signal either thru red/green/blue RCAs or VGA.

Basically all it does is digitize the signal and makes it easier for the HDTV to under stand it. It should be fine. Just be careful of buying from Ebay.

I can't guarantee anything, but the second device you showed (the one I said should work, not the one scarmullet quoted) is pretty good bet.

So your TV does not have zoom button? that should remove the borders without any extra hardware.
If no Zoom button, do consider is it cheaper / easier just to buy new TV.
HDTVs have come down in price big time.

Just to verify Arseen, this is my best bet:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Upscaler-Up-scale-S-Video-AV-HDMI-Converter-1080P-/200692298064?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eba317150

Funny thing about my tv, when on video mode, zoom is not an option, only on hdmi mode.

That's correct. That's your best bet for NES (and Master System?)
Genesis should be able to out put RGB, so there might be better option for that.

Edit this is better:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Video-Audio-HDMI-Converter-Adapter-1080P-SCART-RGB-/130625513929?pt=UK_AudioElectronicsVideo_Video_TelevisionSetTopBoxes&hash=item1e69e329c9

It can convert both RGB-scart of Genesis and Normal scart of NES to HDMI.

You'll just need RGB scart cable for Genesis (Mega Drive) This might work for Master system too assuming it can output RGB (not sure).
For NES you need that RCA / Scart adapter I linked on previous page. use it for Master system too if it does not Output RGB.

Funny both my TVs do zoom in analog TV mode as well, only difference is that Digital mode has one extra option of 1:1 pixel (as in no scaling what so ever, so only 1080 images fill whole screen, others have borders.)

actually even my old cheapo annalog fatso tv has zoom.

The reason I don't want to get involved with scarts and stuff is because I use this device:
http://mobiledjbusiness.com/video_switcher.html
It has 5 inputs and 2 outputs.  Therefore, my plan is to continue to hook all my composite systems into the inputs, but instead of putting the output composite cable into the TV, I will put it into the upscaler and from the upscaler run an HDMI cable to the TV.  Get it?

you can get a Composite->Scart adapter for cheap

O I C :D

But you can still use your device with the upscaler I showed, you just put the scart adapter to the output cables end.
And I seriously believe that Genesis would really benefit the RGB scart. Besides you can buy scart switch box:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/High-Quality-Scart-Switch-Box-Watch-and-Record-2-channels-Simultaneouly-/170712472108?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item27bf419a2c

I have even better one that was not expensive.
It has 4 inputs, 2 independent outputs and remote.

I also have have one seriously crazy one that has 5 scart inputs, 6 SVHS inputs and 6 composite inputs.
2 independent outputs of Scart+SVHS+composite (so total of 6 outputs)

I sent the seller a message telling them which consoles I needed it for and they assured me it would work.  Behold the winner:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120833363433?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I will be paying for it tomorrow!  Please everybody take one last look at it to make sure you do not foresee any problems.

There should not be any problems with this device.

Genesis would really benefit from the RGB, but choice iis yours.

This topic has inspired me to do this. If only I can find one that does RF, SVHS/Composite, Component AND VGA to HDMI.

I have a solution for my predicament

Basically it uses alot of switch boxes and adapters.

No offense, but why not just try something like this?

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-RCA-VGA-Cable-1-8ft/dp/B002ZUI68G/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326692429&sr=8-3

Wrong way.
This is HDMI > VGA + 3*RCA.
Needs to be other way around.
Other around needs coding and upscaling, so simple cable does not work.
