Genesis 2

I've just learned that there were more than one model for the Sega Genesis 2...  I guess there are like 3?  Does anyone have an opinion on which model number has the best video quality?  I want to try to buy a cheap one on ebay before I consider getting my console modded.

The model 1 with the "High Definition Graphics" header on the system is the best, and it can be S-Video modded.

No thanks..  I only want the 2nd model.. but there were 3 models of the 2nd model.  Which of those should I get?

Tested and working?  Tested on an HDTV?  Got pics?  I would like to see its cosmetic condition.

Every console i have is in good working order and as clean as a 20 yr old console can be. Tested with regular component cables. I just have too many model 2's hanging around so i dont mind parting with a few. (Also have a few working & clean model 1's)

Im not home at the moment to check the number. Are you looking to svideo mod it? If so i dont think this one has the sony chip. As for the price. free.99+s/h

Cosmetic preference.  I tend to like the 2nd model of every console.  I have 13 systems altogether and I prefer the NES 2, SNES 2, SMS2, PSOne Mini, Ps2 slim, ps3slim.  I would buy a Genesis 3 but you cannot use sega cd nor 32x with it.

I didn't know they were capable of s-video at all....  now I'm thinking I may need the one with the sony chip.  I just hate the blurry screen I'm getting on my console.

Ah I see, I prefer the consoles with the better build quality and functionality like my Breadbin (bullnose) C64 (better SID chip), My Early Model 1 SNES (Has a separate board for sound so it actually sounds better than later models), My Genesis Model 1; its S-Video modded which makes games look nicer, and it sounds great, and debatably my launch model PS3 for...PS2..compatibility.

You prefer the master system 2?   Never heard anyone say that before.  I am assuming the US release was the same cosmetically as PAL - its got to be one of the ugliest lumps of cheaply made plastic I own.  The master system 1 is huge - but look so much nicer (all a matter of personal opinion).  I also prefer the megadrive 1, but the md2 and 3 did at least look good.

That article linked above is great.  I had no idea there were so many editions,  have to dig out all mine and see what I have.
