If I remove the board from a US N64 cart will it fit straight into a PAL Cartridge Case and Boot on a PAL N64?

If so I have an idea  ;D

short answer, yes.

Long answer, you don't need to do that, the N64 has two plastic tabs in the cart slot which prevent import carts from playing, remove them and everything is cream cheese.

WRONG

Removing those plastic tabs will allow US games to  be played in JAP console and vice versa.

You can't play PAL games on US/JAP console or vice versa so simply.

To answer to the first question:
Yes you can fit US game board into PAL cart shell.
No you cannot then play it on PAL console.

Arseen is correct.

iirc, US and Japanese N64 are identical internally save for the cart slot. PAL n64s are different though and not compatible.

Thanks guys,

I guess the Bios / boot routine etc does a check on the eprom to see if the region matches. I knew about removing tabs etc from the PAL N64 but luckily I don't need to as have a US console as well as PAL.

I knew you lot would know.

I'm 90 carts away from a full PAL N64 set and Bad Fur day Pal Still sells for £55+, was thinking get a US Cart and swapping to a PAL case, Not to fool anyone just for my own pleasure of saving some cash.

No point removing tabs from PAL console, it does nothing.

Remove the tabs from the US console to play JAP games. This works also other way around.

May be worth it if the Euro risese again but still the US version also costs quite a lot.
