I just made a cover for one of my computer games. Now it's a cover I've already made before using my personal scanner, but my scanner a few years old and has a max dpi of 300. When I found out that my local print shop had a much better scanner I took the box a used up there and had them re scan it at 600dpi. I then remade the cover using the exact same methods I used on the first one, All I did was crop it and resize it down to 300dpi. But when I printed out this one their was this box like pixel effect. I don't know what it's called but I think you guys know what I'm talking about. I comaired it to the old cover. The old cover did have a little bit of the same probelm but it wasn't nearly as bad. When I few the cover on my computer it doesn't seem to be their. They were both printed from the same print shop and same printer so I don't see what the probelm could be. If you guys want to see the sover yourselfs to see what the probelm is just tell me and I'll post up the new one and mabey it's scans too. I don't have the old cover anymore tho, me being the idiot that I am I deleted it. I suppose I could make another one tho.

My guess is that the newer scanner captured the image more clearly and when printed it came out with the dot effect. Some people use a gaussian blur at .08 or .8 (can't recall) to eliminate that and smooth it out.
