Is anyone (other than me) interested in uploading the original size PS1 CD inserts/back covers and manuals?
-
Been doing it whenever people request something I have. Once Snowcone sets up a raw upload area, I will probably end up doing them all.
-
What's a PSX? :)

I plan on starting mine when I get back home. (in a few weeks.) I don't know how long it will take as I have over 100 PSX. I do need the back covers and manuals for:
Bravo Air Race
Colony Wars
Colony Wars: Vengence
G. Darius
Pipe Dreams 3D
Populous: The Beginning
Road Rash 3D
Thunderforce V
WDL: War Jetz
so, if you have any of those.......... ;D

Don't have any of those, but I do have Road Rash Jailbreak and Road Rash 3D for the Saturn! Actually, you could actually probably use the art work from the Saturn version and make it work for the PS1 version...
-
I am actually more interested in getting the complete manual and the back cover/insert artwork for each of those to store them in the original CD cases.

Ah, okay. Good luck!
-
Well, I found the Pipe Dreams 3D artwork...... like for free.... at a thrift shop... the disk was missing....
so, one down anyways...... I still need the manual, though.....
Can you help a brother out? ;D
I will be scanning my 100+ PSX manuals and coverart once I get back home.......
(I promise) BUT..... I only scan the originals, so if you want DVD cases, you will have to create them yourself.
:)
-
I have Colony Wars, but it's the German PAL version so the manual is in German and the back cover, too. I suppose that doesn't help you. But if you can't find it elsewhere or become tired of searching I'd love to help you out.
-
Thanks for the offer, I just got a reply from gamebooklets.com, said the order shipped, so that should take care of Colony Wars & Colony Wars: Vengence.
-
Alright. I'm glad it still worked out for you.

Technically this is a PSX:
http://www.ps3land.com/psx.php
It's a PS2, DVR, DVD burner combo unit only available in Japan. It was overpriced, but really sweet looking.
-
Yeah .... I remember that when it came out but I dont think it was continued for long when sales slumped after the initial run. Too expensive I think was the comment at the time.....
Not sure if it ever got out of Japan too!!!!
-
It stayed in Japan and it was in fact too expensive to grab a mainstream market.

And of course, the big question is, does the PS3 have a similar fate? :o
Maybe, I'm sure as heck not buying one.
-
the ps3 is going to bomb its price alone is killing every playstation fan.
-
Me too, looks as if I will get a PS3 after the PS4 (or 5) hits the streets and I can get one at a thrift store.
I waited a long time to upgrade from the PS1 to PS2.
-
Same here. But still I *KNOW* I will be crying like a baby once Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 are out and I can't play it.

Well, once I get home again, I plan to upload the N64 labels/manuals that I have that we are missing, upload all my PS2 covers, then get started on scanning the covers/manuals for my PSX games. (That will take the longest)

just go to a friends house or those display things at the gamestores.
-
None of my friends is crazy enough to spend 599€ (~ $750) on a game console. Hell, one of my friends just bought a high end computer and spend less than that :) But I'll definitely try it out in a gamestore once the PS3 has games that are worth playing.
-
I want one for 2 reasons ....
1. It's still going to be the cheapest way to get HD movies on Blu-Ray and
2. Gran Turismo HD
Whether those justify the price initially? ..... I dont think so ..... and the wifey would sooner kill me than have yet another console in the house .... especially after I paid $1000 the day PS2 came out only to find it sucked as a DVD player etc and is now available for 1/5th of the original asking price.
-
Well, I can get away with buying a dreamcast..... my wife really doesn't care about that.....
BUT, I just can't justify buying a PS3...
Blu-Ray or not..... my DVD's look fine to me on the TV I have. :)
I don't even think I could convince my wife that it would be worth it for the HD movies.......
-
well it is a gaming console.i i have 3 dvd players : xbox, ps2 , dvd player. nad even though it is in HD i dont realy care.its about the gaming not the other stuff that somes with the console and it seems like sony forgot that.
{hey btw this post is the 666th post in the forums spooky}
-
EXACTLY.....
and, my wife likes to point out that she does not think I play most of the games I have now.......
(and she points that out ---- a lot)
However, I do play them when the grandkids are over...... and I can beat them in hydro-thunder..... but not mario kart...
ETA: and TheValeman thinks I should buy a dreamcast just to play Hydro-Thunder......
-
get a dreamcast if you realy want it. buying it for 1 game is pointless
-

That's what I did with my N64 and Ocarina of Time
-
Same here with my PS2 and DMC or my Gamecube and Metroid Prime :)

Same here with my PSone and DMC or my Gamecube and Metroid Prime :)
What's DMC? Only thing I can think of is Devil May Cry and that's PS2..

Most consoles generally have at best a few games that define the system. Generally these games are either console specific or are simply the best version available. For me ....
N64 = Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, Banjo series, Zelda - OOT
SNES = Donkey Kong Country series, Mario All-Stars
PS1 = Gran Turismo, NFS Hot Pursuit
PS2 = None that I can think of ..... ;D
Dreamcast = Soul Calibur, Hydro Thunder, House of the Dead 2, SF 2049
As a result you can make a case for owning a particular console if you have a desire to play/own those particular games that rock your boat so to speak. Console emulation generally isn't of a suitable standard to replace a console although PS1 emulation is cetainly getting up there. But for me it's the controllers that really count. N64/Dreamcast emulation is crap and I love the original controllers.
So owning a console just for one game isn't an issue for me ...... especially when you can pick one up in their twilight years for pennies .... $30 for a Dreamcast is dirt cheap. Just make sure that the unit has a good GD-Rom laser as they're hard to replace now .....
-

Shoot, that's what I meant. Of course I wanted to say I bought the PS2 just for Devil May Cry :)

I've scanned all my Gamecube, PS2 and Genesis/Mega Drive covers and will upload them as soon as somenone tells me If my covers are the way they should be. You can download my "testcover" here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=73AFB15X
Hope it works for you.
Why do I post this in a CD case cover topic? Because next on my list are my PS1 and Dreamcast games. I just wanted to ask if someone has the measurements for the standart front cover and the European back covers? The front cover is the same size as the US covers but the European games have a wider spine since they came in different, thicker CD cases, so the back cover is wider, too.
-
I can probably dig around and find exact cd case measurements on a media site if you need.
Edit: Holy crap, Megaupload bends you over when visiting. I couldn't even get to the site without filling out applications for stuff.
-
Wow, you people really have problems with megaupload? I didn't know where to host the cover for everyone to check out and a friend said megaupload would be a good way. Hmm, any alternative ways? Rapidshare? Or are they just as annoying? Sorry for the inconvenience, I had no problems with my Megaupload link and I figured other people wouldn't either. Guess it's easier for the one who uploaded it to access it than for anyone else.
@Snowcone:
Yeah, the measurements would be nice. I checked some other cover sites which had CD Case covers for Dreamcast and PS1 but they are all different in size so I didn't know how I should resize them. I scanned and resized some covers based on TheValeman's Hydro Thunder DC covers but that just works for my US and JPN import titles because European DC games have no inlay. They just have the front cover and the other side of the front cover is just plain white. Same with the back cover, it just has one spine which is about double the size of a US or JPN game. And all this also applies to the European PS1 games :(
Man, I'd really like to find out why oh why they have to make different cases and designs for different countries.
-
I'll find the measurements for you.
Re: MegaUpload
I've never used them or visited their site before and when I hit that link it told me I had to register for a free laptop before I could visit the site and hit me with lots of popups.
-
So you never actually got through to the cover? Maybe it's better when I email it to you?
-
That would be good. snowcone@snackbar-games.com or sbgamescone@gmail.com work.
-
I'll clarify my DC scans for the record .....
All I have done with the scans for US Dreamcast games Hydro Thunder & Sega GT is basically scan them @ 300dpi, straighten them, clean up and post. No manual sizing has been done on them. So simply printing them @ 300dpi should result in the proper size covers.
Yeah .... PAL Dreamcast and PS1 stuff is awkward .... those stupid double width boxes certainly dont help. However .... as you cant readily buy those boxes now anyway to replace broken ones it may be better to simply use a normal US size spine. In fact if you check EBAY you'll find original PAL DC games being sold with thin cases. Seems Sega saw the light later in the DC life anyway ..... finally ..... before the end.
