Title: SNES Nakitek Gamesaver+
Post by: ShoothimNow on August 25, 2010, 01:26:10 AM
Requesting a UGC style'd cover for this (personal use / doesn't have to be hosted on the site).  This does fit inside a fat double black UGC, as mine is already placed cozily inside.  This is a different size than your guys's clear UGC's, however I can edit the side differences

Anyways, looking for a cover to case this beast of a hardware -

Who needs emulators? Accessory maker NakiTek released an innovative device called the Game Saver+ in the mid-1990s that allowed gamers to store the exact state of their game at any time to memory. As you can see by the picture, the unit worked a bit like a Game Genie, acting as a bridge between a cartridge and the SNES. While playing, you could save your game by pressing something like Select + Right Shoulder button. To restore the game state, you’d press Select + Left Shoulder button (I forgot the combinations exactly). As long the Saver unit received power — either via the SNES’s AC adapter, which passed through the unit, or AA batteries — the Game Saver+ would save your game state. It also offered a few extra features like “slow motion” play.

Unfortunately, the Game Saver+ was released too late in the life of the SNES to make much impact. I picked one up in the late 1990s on clearance at Wal-Mart for a few bucks. By that time, I was already emulating the SNES on my PC.

From what I’ve read, the Game Saver+ didn’t work too well with certain games, causing graphical glitching upon resuming your state. In my experience (I remember mostly playing Super Castlevania IV with it), it seemed to work fine — although I wouldn’t want to depend on it.

The Game Saver+ acting as a bridge between a cartridge and the SNES. The Game Saver+ lets you holds your spot in the game, so you can replay all other levels just to get to where you stop. The Game Saver+ also features half speed and slow motion play without picture or sound distortion.

The Game Saver+ is powered by either through the SNES's AC adapter, which passed through the unit, or 4 x AA batteries (not included).

Features:
Save any game, any level, any time
  Restart instantly
Play at half speed without sound or picture distortion
Powered by 4 AA batteries (not included) or pass-through port

ON A SIDE NOTE
If someone could retype this or "enchance" it so I can retype, that would be splended.  I cannot find these codes ANYWHERE!

Finding old boxes and searching the forums to see if anyone has already scanned these boxes, I come across two of your topics from 8 years ago. I don't have anything that came inside the boxes anymore, but I'll provide scans of the boxes later today.

If ShoothimNow doesn't want, I can take and scan them.
I can pay the shipping.

Sounds good. Now we play the waiting game. I also have empty boxes for NES/SNES/GB Game Genies if you guys are interested in those as well, as well as some generic SNES Game Genie thing called "Game Mage".

Well, Mr. Smooth only asked for scans anyway so I'll send them off to you, Ronnie. And then you can share the scans with all of us. Same address I sent you the Mario cereal in 2018?

Nice, longest I've ever stayed in one spot is about 10-15 years. But I will weigh the stuff on Saturday and give you an estimate.

Here is a blurry preview of the boxes taken from my phone. Looks like I have two NES Game Genie boxes. Want the faded one, Arseen? And sorry that the Game Saver box is missing the top flap and, well you see. No refunds. LOL. (https://i.ibb.co/mCrHyB4/20201202-170231.jpg)

OK: I'll bow out.
And it's not hammer.
I've upgraded.
It's more like BotW Royal Guard Battle Axe looking thing that is balanced so well that I can wield it one handed. ;)
Way more efficient as I can dual wield.
Still want the boxes... :o

Well, Arseen I can send you the lesser quality GG box, so you both kinda win.

Either one of you remember the NES version of Game Saver +? It's called GAME Action Replay (as opposed to just Action Replay). It's just like Game Saver. A clear NES cart that you put the NES cart on top of. I used to have that too. http://www.nesworld.com/gameactionreplay.php

Marioxb, I would love them.  These would give me a reason to replace the glass on my scanner (which I have) and I would love to share the scans.  Sending you a PM.
