Title: FTP Server
Post by: ShoothimNow on July 31, 2010, 11:39:03 AM
I was wondering if there was an FTP server that we can connect to.  I personally like to download every cover that is posted and with the servers being almost moved to a newer system, I'm afraid that new covers are going to be posted daily and a lot at a time, meaning that I am sure I will miss out on a few.

I do check the RSS feeds for new covers, but I was wondering, as it would be much easier, if there was any way a full member has access to use FTP on TCP?

I may be the only one wishing to use this, and if it is a sensitive subject just say so.  I dont mind PM's

No. That would be a HUGE security issue. We had around 10 FTP accounts for the admin uploading / downloading and someone got a password for one and used a bunch of bandwidth. Having an open FTP is asking for trouble.

Jup doom is absolutely right. We almost lost our host because of a ftp security incident some months ago. That is as though only around ten people had passwords for the server.

So as doom said security would be a key issue.

In a perfect hosting scenario, I could probably grant that but with 65GB of covers I'm not going to front the cost for everyone to download all the covers. It would cost me an arm and a leg.
