Title: Couple of rookie Q's....
Post by: BerzerkJ on July 23, 2010, 09:21:29 PM
1. I have the print size ins PS CS2 set right for my DVD labels, but they keep printing out larger than I specify. IE Isay 2cm and it prints out at 3cm. What am I doing wrong?
2. I can't seem to download specific templates. When I click on one I get taken to image shack....how do I download the right ones?

1. I usually print in Preview (Mac guy here). I don't really mess with the settings, just make sure I print at 100% ratio. The default is somehow 150% for me so I always have to double check.
2. Links work fine for me. I think you're clicking the preview images instead of the orange text (which is the download link). Most of the templates have multiple layers (for example the Nintendo handhelds template). To get to the specific one you want (for example, GBA), just hide all the other layers in the image.

Thanks for the info on finding the template. I do print at 100% ratio, but for some reason it still comes out large. Even says the right CMxCM...I can't figure it out. I tried printing in another program like GIMP, and that was a nightmare. GIMP has major issues with printing. I turned the ratio down to 99% and it fit in the DVD, but it was a idddddy bit to small, and like most of the people on here, I have a iddddy bit of OCD and that just will not do. :)

Try printing at 3,225 x 2,156 pixels. That might be easier than printing by CM and it's our standard size for DVD covers.

Ok, will do. Let you know how it turns out.

addendum: Well, don't have pixels as an option. I got Picas, inches, CM, MM and Points. However, I found a way around it. Print at 99%, turn of center image, and move to one corner of the paper at 0.125x0.125 from edge. Don't ask me why that works. It just does.

Yeah I remember finding a few weird ways to print covers myself at some point. I believe it might be Picas or Points you're looking for though, but it's been a while since I've used photoshop to print my covers.

I honestly just use the default 100% view as well. It's worked for me on many different computers. Print preview is the key though.
