The Cover Project

I tried recently to actually clean up some raw scans ... but after about 20 minutes I couldn't stand the fact my computer was so slow at doing editing at the high resolutions required. Editing a PS3 cover at 300 dpi in Paint.NET was using about 1GB of RAM and usually around 80-90% CPU. So I am just curious what kind of systems the cover gurus have (I got a new computer a couple months ago, but haven't had the time to set it up and see how well it fairs at this).

I use Photoshop CS2.
However, my old computer died and I'm now using a computer with only 10GBs of space (total) and, just in general, much less everything than any computer out there. That combined with an extremely slow trickle for an income that I would use to repair my old computer or get a new one has pretty much left me out-of-action for quite some time.
So, yeah, I'd imagine if Paint.NET is giving you a hassle, PSCS2 won't do you any better. Still, it's better than the Gimp.

My PC isn't too hot either. I think around two years old.
I've got 4GB of not too slow RAM though which is pretty important if you use RAM intensive programs like photoshop.

I use Photoshop CS2 with a wimpy 2gb of ram :(
I have CS4 but its too ram intensive for my computer.

For the little I use Photoshop, right now I'm usuing Adobe PS Elements 4. 2GB of RAM makes it extremely hard to use. I've been considering updating to CS5 because it strains a lot less on the computer.

Mine's 6 years old - P4 2.8 Ghz, integrated graphics, 1 GB RAM. I'm guessing yours is worse.

When I get my new computer set up it's an i5 with 8gb of RAM and an awesome video card :P
By the sound of it I should be fine when I actually set up my desktop, but the laptop I'm using is running on 2gb RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.5Ghz, not the fastest thing around but works fine for game development :P (and runs TF2, so that's enough for me).
