Post by: Nintendo-Atari-Sega-Nerd on July 20, 2010, 01:15:33 AM
Hi everybody, I was wondering what you guys were thinking of doing box set for games series such as the Prince of Persia Trilogy on GameCube, PS2 & Xbox. I'll put more details tommorow when I'll be on my computer.

You mean like this? (http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=7152)  ???

or are you wanting to try and make printable boxes for them to sit in?

I mean printable boxes I though of it when I bought a boxset for the Die Hard movie serie. I could make 2 different box for every game serie(per consoles) which would be for normal size DVD case and for slimline.

Something like this?

If so, cool idea.. but not really practical.

N64 mini boxes were a great idea, so I don't see why this couldn't work.

I've always thought it'd be cool to make custom digipaks style boxes, to be honest.

One of our greatest member, Shenshke started a project which was to create some mini boxes for the N64 games, every box would be of the size of a N64 cartridge.

Anyway I'll try a ''test'' box for some games and sent the result to who ever wants to try it, anybody got an idea for a test? Any games serie.

Xenosaga?

could probably get dimensions by scanning in the box that one of the many ps2 3-packs available right now comes in.

allright sounds great I'll just finish the PoP box I'm making, made that one cause it's on every console, just have to change the console logo and cover art on the back.

No it's just true you made like 70-80% of the N64 vertical box, some SNES, the uniformed pokémon template(which in fact we're missing Platinium, HG and SS), some GB, GBC, GBA, NDS, PSP, PSP vid, Wii, DC... so your a pretty important user

That looks really good and I love that they're so small! However, I do not like paper/cardboard boxes at all, because they damage so easily and thats the whole reason I'm switching to UGCs in the first place.

By the way, I cam acrros these the other day: http://cgi.ebay.com/25-NES-SNES-Custom-Fit-Cartridge-Protectors-Cases-NEW-/290448098340?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a00e4424

NES cartridges fit perfectly in those. Is it maybe an idea to design covers for in or around those?

No dice, they don't have sleeves.

The reason I love the idea of N64 mini cases (and SNES mini cases) is that if you have a retarded game, say Madden 94, Madden 95, Madden 96, and Madden 97, do you really want to waste that much space with a UGC?  Or just place it in another formatted cover?  Seeing that N64 Minicases are printable, you still are able to store your cardboard cases, and cardstock works fine with them.  Nothing lasts forever, even the UGC's break after useage.

As for your boxset idea, Metal Gear Solid (essentials Pack), Resident Evil (pack), Mortal Kombat (pack), Devil May Cry (pack), Hitman (pack) - are the ones for PS2 that I can think of that already have your "boxset" idea (or atleast a type of boxset that I am imagining)

PS1 games that have a boxset are - Crash Bandicoot Collectors Series, Spyro Collectors Series, and that is all I can think of.

Would love to see a nice printable version of boxsets for slimline cases.

@shoothimnow
my boxset idea is to make boxes like some TV serie comes in when you buy it like 3 or 4 slimline case in one little cartboard box.

For the PoP I'm almost done, just need to add a little bit of text, do the top and bottom (which most likely will be black) and convert it to PS2 and Xbox.

I see your point and I do find the small boxes to look very nice. Plus, I don't have your problem because I don't buy crappy games. And if I do acquire some "by accident" or in a lot, I just sell them..

As for the UGCs being breakable... Well of course, but I doubt they'll break since I'm so careful. All of my MegaDrive (Genesis) boxes still look pristine as well.

But yea I can see why people would use the small N64 boxes :)

I personally use 'em since I can't get my hands on UGC's at the moment, plus I think it's badass that I can have the original box in its entirety as well as taking up the same amount of space as an N64 cart.
