Title: Natal / Kinect add
Post by: Arseen on June 15, 2010, 09:26:35 AM
Video on this site (scroll down a bit) made me seriously consider getting it:

Hope it works even half as well as they promise.

I dunno if the first sentence I read even before the demo video really starts is

"Actual features and functionality may vary."

then this tells me that someone wants to avoid lawsuits because in reality it works like shit.

Did they even really think about this? What abour little kids running uncontrolled through the "picture" or cats and dogs? Just think you are at the verge of beating a really difficult boss in a fighting game and boom your dog runs through the picture and you die! ;D

Anyway I'm less then convinced especially because those people in this spot were always smiling so silly! Those surely were given drugs before the spot was done to ensure the "fun". ;)

I noticed that  too, but I hope they are just overly careful

I think I read somewhere that it keeps track of your body and doesn't react to sudden extra movement coming into frame.
Least that is somewhat easy to implement.

You know we had all these announcements at E3, and you guys bring out an ad from when "Natal" was first announced? Get with the times maaan ;)

The Microsoft press conference was overall a meh for me anyway. Other than the 360 Slim, I saw nothing terribly exciting. Just looks like more Wii shovelware as of now, but I am curious of its potential in a year or two.

...on the other hand some of Nintendo's announcements have got me extremely curious. So much better than the announcement of WiiMotionPlus and a "vitality sensor" last year :P

Sony's conference is later today? I'll have to check it out while I'm at my girlfriend's then ;)

I didn't realize that until few hours after posting, when my younger little bro told me that.

The thing that has been worrying me ever since Natal saw actual specs released was simply this: floorspace.

Natal (sorry, the new name doesn't really Kinect with me) requires a ton of floorspace - and I simply don't have that much to spare.

However, I am looking forward to the new Xbox 360. It seems to actually be very well ventilated, which is something I've been waiting for ever since the 360's "Problems" became apparent. It still has the disc-scratching problem though - which is kinda a bad move to not fix it, considering their new motion tech is going to require a lot of movement. One wrong movement (or maybe even a right one) and that's $60 down the drain.

man...... new Zelda and I don't think I'll want anything to do with it. So long as there is cool games for PS3 & 360 my fat ass is not going to swing my controller like i'm swatting at a bug after 8 hours of work.

And after i put the Hylian eagle from the shields on the hood of my car.

DAMN YOU NINTENDO!!!!

$149 is really too steep for most people I think....
