Title: ps2 import games
Post by: dejimus on June 09, 2010, 09:24:41 AM
so, im in the market for some import ps2 games that ive wanted to play for a while. BUT i do not want to spend the money to get a console imported if i can avoid it, so my plan was to run the actual disc  (not rom or iso, cause that is wrong ;) ) on a ps2 emulator.  does anyone here know if the ps2 emu is reliable?

my other queries are

 1. will the emu run actual discs... i refuse to play roms
2. if yes, will it play japanese discs.
3. do the emus improve picture quality at all such as anti ailasing.

thanks in advance

pcsx2? It's reliable... sorta. Check the compatibility on the emulator's website. You'll need a pretty beastly pc to run anything well though.

As for your questions:

1. yes
2. yes
3. yes

that's all assuming that the game in question has good compatibility or not.

Honestly, you'd be better off getting your current ps2 modded. You'll have much better compatibility that way.

if you can find a action replay disc they have a function to allow you to play ps2 games from ntsc on a pal, a  pal on a ntsc ect.

Checkout this thread @ NeoGAF on PS2 emulation:

You will cry tears of joy at how beautiful some of these games look upscaled/rendered on a PC!
