Title: A question about Xbox 360 DLC retail discs
Post by: juan0tron on May 29, 2010, 07:07:01 PM
Summer vacation has just started for me, and I've been looking into buying some Rock Band Track Packs/Borderlands to play with some friends online. Since I'm a genuine cheapass, I was hoping to buy some of these things used. I know the Rock Band Track Packs come with a one-time download code deal, but can I still buy the license to rip the tracks on the disc? (Like Rock Band 1 did).

Also, does anyone know how the Borderlands add-on disc works? Can I play the add-ons directly from the disc or do I have to copy them to the hard drive? Does this also come with a one-time code deal? While I'm at it I might as well ask if the same goes for the GTAIV and Fallout 3 discs as well.

Just trying to answer some stuff that's been on my mind for a while  :P

about rock band.....

ok Rock Band one is the only one you can buy used and buy the license to burn the disc.... Lego Rock Band has a code (one time use) and without the code you cant download the music.... which is a huge track pack on xbox live. (not for sale seperately) and you are required to pay for the download....

The various track packs are the same deal... except they come with the code for the download for free. (all but the ac/dc pack are avaliable online in single or in mini track packs... but not all together like the one that comes with the disc)

You may get lucky and get one that hasnt been used but for the most part id recommend buying the tracks online as it may be cheaper than $30 to get them all. Research it and you might be able to find some good new deals.

AC/DC is a walmart exclusive.... so its full price.

Hope that helps

Me too :) I could resist the general Knox DLC until now beacause I have a nice pile of games to play through, but I'm temptet to buy the new Modern Warfare map pack later this week and I have a good idea where the spare points might go. I absolutely want to complete this game with everything it has to offer as I love it to death. Even when playing through Mad Moxxi alone will be a true test in anger management :D There's at least on more DLC for Borderlands to come out and after that they just have to release a GOTY edition and I'll be sure to buy it :)

good to know.... ive only seen it used at my local gamestops.

Either way... the only way to get those tracks is through that pack.

I would avoid any Modern Warfare 2 DLC at all costs. $5 per new map is unacceptable, considering Activision / Infinity Ward planned map packs all along.

Hah at one time I did actually have a bunch of double bass stuff on FoF, but the Mac version was extremely buggy and I eventually got rid of it. Now I play real drums anyway, but some of my friends still only play Rock Band. Plus, I still pick up a few things from the game every once and a while :)
