Title: Sega Master System Covers
Post by: Lish on February 02, 2007, 08:38:56 AM
Well,m here I go again, moving off topic somewhat.  This time with Sega Master system Scans sized for the Iniversal Game Case.  Do master system games fit into the Case I hear you ask?  Well, I really dont know but presume at worst they will fit a little loosely in the SNES spot.  Given that SMS games came in aplastic case, why do we need the game covers scanned?  I have about 40 master system games and about half of those have faded covers.  It would be great to return to that vibrant look.  About 1/4 have damaged boxes.  Many more people must be in the same boat.

Over the past few days I have uploaded some 3DO, Hanimex, Sega 32X, Amstrad GX4000, Intellivision, and now Master system game covers.  As these are not grouped under headings on the site, I loaded them to various sections hoping that the moderator can distinguish between them.  Whether I continue to upload these different covers will depend on your (and the moderators) acceptance.

The SNES and N64 scene seams to be booming.  I have added four new SNES games in the last two days, but all of my 50 or so N64 games are already uploaded (although five of my PAL versions are significantly different to warrant upload. Countless others are also sending these up the phone line so very soon, I think these projects will ne nearing completion.  Other areas I am interested in are Atari 800, 2600, and 7800 (I have one of each).  I have some 50 games and zero boxes.  I could download the front and back covers from other sites and create a custim spine to finalise a Case insert.  Do Atari carts fit into the universal games case?

Here are thumbs of the scans anyway FYI.

If the games fit in the cases, then why not. I've got about 12 boxed games I could add if needed.
Have to get back to you on the titles though.

I found this today for the bargain price of 75p. Had to be done.

Winter Olympics 94

It's the later Kixx release and ditches the white checked look for a dark blue colour scheme.

I checked all your covers and something was wrong with the Winter Olympics cover.... As far as I can remember it was wrongly sized... I delete everything which is not ok.... Sorry that I can't tell everyone.... I upload so much at once most of the time that this would be extremly time consuming....

@Lish:

If it will help, I have a lot of instruction manuals for Atari 2600 and 7800, and in most cases the coverart was the same as the manual art. between that and the summary given in the manual, you could easily make custom covers. Figured I'd ask first though, don't know your stance on customs.

Enduro Racer (E.U)

Another type of M.S cover that i have put into the template i am working on. Hope to have it so you can mix'n'match the types of front, back and spine by clicking their visibility icon. I labelled this as type one...

...and this as type two. Does anyone know all the genre types for this cover. I have Action,Arcade,Shooting,Family,Sports and Adventure Role Playing so far. Any advance on that?  :)

On the Rastan cover where its says Arcade, there is also a 3-D designation that as far as I know only appears on Poseidon Wars 3-D.  4 other 3-D games (Maze Hunter 3D, Space Harrier 3D, Zaxxon 3D and Blade Eagle 3D) have a red triangle at the top middle front of the cover that says Sega Scope 3D.  I have all these if you need a scan.

Teddy Boy (U.S)

DVD case for Sega Cards maybe..? Good point, it's about the right size. Bad Point, Not  a great fit.But then again, what is?

I thught it was a pretty good fit with the card tucked under the  instructions tab.  They never used to stay in place in the proper boxes anyway.

Seems like the best solution. I actually have Teddy Boy in cart form rather than card. Or rather 'had' the cart as all i seem to have now is the box and instructions but the carts gone missing. ??? (everyone here is denying all knowledge..)

I have Transbot partly done as i have used bits of it for the template. My Hero was like a super hard version of Kung Fu Master (my all time fave arcade machine) was'nt it?. I had it when it first came to the U.K but i had my original Master System and 16 carts knicked from a car boot while i was at football training yeaaaaaaaars ago and never replaced that one. In theory, all that would be needed to make up these cases is a scan of the card itself stuck between the fingers on the front.

My Hero was my favorite game on the Master System (and i loved Kung Fu Master arcade too)

Scans of hang on and my hero cards to see if your theory works :o)

R-Type (PAL)

Both rebuilds..slightly altered the spine and back for the fancy 'R-Type' logo from the front. Other than that, they are as the original.

T.Y :). It seemed an odd choice for Sega to use their standard font on the spine and back but not on the front.

Hang On (U.S)

This is a rebuild of the U.S version. Think it was a pack-in so there seems to be no barcode and a lack of the normal information. You can use this Sheep or i can knock up a PAL one based on the cart version that was released in Europe. That would have the same front but the serials/barcode etc and multi-language text from the cart would be on the back. Only real issue with that is the carts had a lot more game info on them than the 3 or 4 lines of the card. Let me know anyway. :)

Nope, definatley says Sega Cart on my copy. Maybe its an e-bay 'RARE'  ;) I think it was released as a Sega Card as well, maybe Stateside as i cant find any shots of a U.S version. Nice to find you and VT are fellow members of the Bank Panic Appreciation Society.

Before i look into WWF,is this the kind of look you are after sheep? I mean the entire mk1 Master System look? They nearly always had the art partially off to the left or bottom but i can move if you prefer. And you can have the logo from your version rather than the mk1. Only thing was that the rear info has a lot more data than they used to put on the 'mk1's but other than that, i think it looks about how it would have back then. Great art you provided B.T.W  :).

That's exactly what i was after - love those crappy cartoony fronts from the MK1 games.

Finding the art was a toughy - needed alot of cleaning, ran through Vector Magic and then more cleaning.  Fits really well though.  Thanks a million.

Was trying to find a cartoony hulk hogan for the wwf one, but settled on the masked wrestler in the end.

You got them right, they look like a Sega artist had knocked them up for this very purpose. May have to make some concession's for the WWF logo...but not tonight, Im off to try and sleep AND watch Match of the Day AND not wake Mrs G into the bargain. Will finish it up tomorrow and post a lot of stuff up.

I'm still using the free desktop version.  Rather than saving the final image - i  zoom in as far as possible to fit it on screen, take a screen capture and copy/paste it into photoshop - then edit it from there.

Sounds long winded, but for logo's etc it's generally a piece of cake.

Same for me but i paste it from the zoom into Coreldraw (that i borrowed from a mate and have sort of kept) and let the auto tracer in that do it. Not as good as straight from Vectormagic but the price for that is a bit steep.

Duke, is there a generic template here for UGC SMS?  I'd like to take a crack at my Choplifter scan.  It looks like it could be easy, so maybe a good place to start.  Also, I have many more scans coming.  90% of my collection is still boxed.

Yup.. it's here:

http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/TEMPLATES/UGC/Master%20System%20UGC%20Template%20-%20Grumbleduke.psd

Looking at them, the easiest to convert would be Space Harrier or Astro Warrior, then Choplifter. The template should cover just about every aspect of those three 'out of the box'. I would say Choplifter is slightly the trickier of them cos' you will probably have to trace out the barbed wire across the front by hand. Anyway, let me know so as i don't duplicate what your doing.

That's quite a template.  It's all in there.  But the font isn't quite right...  I have been searching around for a closer font, but nothing yet.  It's very close to Times New Roman, except the Sega font has more pronounce and confident curves.  Also, the spacing is super close.

Duke, about the space harrier cover...  I don't seem to be able to set text with the Gimp on your template.  I'm guessing you don't use the Gimp, but when I have more time I will search further for the answer.  It might have something to do with Gimp's ability to read .psd's but I cannot be certain.  Also, I am completely restoring the original artwork so that there are no print imperfections at all.  It's taking a long time...

So i was looking around for useful artwork and happened across a South American version of Kung-Fu Kid. This version looked to be identicle except the kid has been replaced by a frog. The case design looked to have been modelled on a Megadrive/Genesis version 2 and i got to thinking maybe some E.U games would adapt to this style. I have mixed the 'all blue with MASTER SYSTEM' style of the SA case with the grid from E.U/U.S ones and the front picture border from the mark 2 template. This could be tagged onto the existing MS template for anyone to experiment with. Samples below:

It looks good.

95% of my Master System games still have their original cases, though, so using this cover for the 5% I need to print covers for would look a bit odd.

If I didn't have those original cases though, I'd use these. I like the uniformity with the MD games, and even the blue Dreamcast covers, and the white does look a bit boring.

I only have 1 unboxed Master System game now so i would'nt be re-covering all of mine with this template either. Mind you, i think MS cases allways look tatty myself. Some titles in bold, some not, some SEGA logo's in different shades of blue and different positions on the spine, grid sizes varying and some with pictures. Not to mention third party stuff. I printed one of these out re-sized for a MS/MD case and it looked ok, especially when mixed with MD cases. No, this would be useful for someone who either only has a couple of titles or is just starting out collecting the much maligned MS i think. As for the MASTER SYSTEM logo's on it, they where taken from the South American cover directly, as in their proportions and position. Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.  :)

I have allways enjoyed a game of Wolfchild (especially the Amiga version). The MS one is a little weak in the sound department but then so are nearly all MS games. I think the machine had all but disapeared from the U.S and Japan by this stage so this was E.U only release(possible South America too). Cant say as i like Virgin's choice of cover art much though. Hehe...yup, they really pushed the boat out with the logo for MS. I agree about the 'whiteys' though, looking at about a hundred or so MS games to re-cover makes me shudder. BUT i printed out the two that i was missing and they looked mighty nice by comparison.(not blowing my own trumpet here  ;)).

Here's a mixed pic of MD, MS and a bluey and a pic of a whole pile of blueys.

Love the blue template. Not sure if I've ever disliked the design for any games packaging as much as those white and grey MS boxes - boring and extremely unappealing, and largely inconsistent, too - but with that template of yours they look pretty good! Granted, any cover is going to look pretty hopeless if it's using "Alex Kidd in Miracle World" or "Black Belt" style artwork, but at least later games have some decent cover illustrations to go with that template. I don't collect MS games, but I'd love to see many more covers in this style just for the aesthetic quality.

you're kidding?  i love the old style cases - started a project to turn all my MS cases into the old skool style (with grum's help) - but as usual I got sidetracked by something else.

@ Shoothimnow

I would agree that the Donald thumbnail is quite effective but then if you look at the official Wolfchild cover, the thumb on that is not so good and that about sums up MS cases.....inconsistent. i might have a crack at putting a thumb on the blue cover though, see how it turns out.

@ Jigsaw

Now i was ok with those minimal covers and if they had just stuck to that type, all would have been well. Mind you, if you see the JP Mark III versions of say 'The Ninja' for instance, then they look rather dull. But then 90% of the JP art is better on all formats IMHO. Thanks for feedback guys...more stuff coming.  :)

Sonic the Hedgehog (PAL/E.U/Custom)

I allways fancied doing a total conversion to a cart based game and have made a few cart labels for this purpose before. But the sticking point is allways the manuals. MS manuals managed to hit a new low in quality: tiny text and multi languages not to mention colour free (blue text on white page) for us Euro's to put up with. So i started to try and build a JP style multi-coloured manual from scratch for Sonic. It's a first attempt and judging by the time it has taken ( at least 30 hours of solid work), a last one too. Its in PDF format and if it all looks ok, should get posted at sometime. Theory is as long as its printed correctly, it should just need a couple of staples and its done. Well that's the theory... ;)

I have used AXMAG to make a working 'flipbook' of how it should look and stuck it in a zip file in my box.net account. If anyone would like to take a look, grab it, unrar it, and run the SWF file via your browser (could,nt find a suitable host for it elsewhere). Works for me that way. Here's the link:

http://www.box.net/shared/8kla3mgyia

I might make one or two small alterations to both manual and cover, so they are kind of W.I.P. And here's a cart label for the game too.

Alien Syndrome (PAL/E.U/Custom)

So i would have liked to use the NES art for this, not that its that great but as you can imagine good, useable 'Alien Syndrome' scans are pretty rare. However, dont ask me why but the MS game is one player only and is quite different from the arcade original. I would have thought if the NES could handle the game 2 player (and Speccy, C64, Amstrad etc), surely what was Sega's flagship hardware of the time could manage it !?. And so the NES cover with its warriors, guns-a-blazin on the front is not pertinent to the MS version and an alternative was needed. Hence this piccie from a collectors card in the JP only PS2 game i have.

Since I'm sorta vaguely jealous of Grumbleduke's nice PAL custom master system template and happen to agree that the retail art is atrocious, I've been kinda playing around with my own take on a revised master system template for NTSC for my own small collection.

Tried to keep the retail "grid" look a little bit, but spice it up some and give it the same feel as the Genesis's "red stripe" boxes. Borrowed a tiny bit from Shenske's genesis template (just the sega logos and some measurements, really.)

Unless someone really wants this, I'm going to wait until uploads are working again to upload this cover. I'll probably case a few more games from my personal collection here soon.

Renegade (PAL/UK)

The father of Beat em' ups ? Used to love playing Renegade when we still had arcades. I bought the Master System version unboxed and have repaired the Blue template (inspired by AppleQueso's recent efforts) to put it in. Cover art is lifted from the Amstrad CPC version as there is very little to choose from out there and the original is not great: reminded me of Karateka on 7800. :)

They had Renegade at my local chippie. I used to order up, stick 10p in the machine and play 1 credit only. Then it was a sprint home with the family dinner. They changed out Renegade for Track & Field (or Hypersports) eventually and you could never get on it...everyone loved those. ;) I seem to remember an 8 bit computers only sequel too.

...even if they don't get accepted to the site, I'm still going to work on them and make them look as good as I possibly can. Maybe if I'm nice and sacrifice a virgin in their names the admins will be a bit lenient on these. I'd really rather have them on the main site for anyone to find then on say, a box.net account where they'd have to stumble onto my sig or something.

It's just really hard to get good source art from a bunch of Japanese games on a relatively obscure system from the 80s.
Title: Re: Sega Master System
Post by: BadChad on December 23, 2010, 12:00:52 PM
I totally agree with you there. Obviously we shouldnt accept anyhting less than our quality standards, but when you but alot of effort into something and youve really tried to made it the best it can be with what you have I dont see why we cant make a few acceptions from time to time.

I kinda felt the same way with my Mega Man X6 cover where everyhting looked great accept for the picture of X and Zero on the back that was a little on the lower quality side. That was a little frustrating because I wanted to stay as true as possible to retail without having to change the art of X and Zero on the back but couldnt find the art in high enough quality. Aside from that the cover looked great so it would of been nice to get an acception on that one to have it openly available to everyone on the site as Im sure plenty could of made good use of it.

Either way, your covers look great and they fit so well with your template. I would maybe try running the sharpen filter on the art one tho, might help improve it a bit.
Title: Re: Sega Master System

Actually I thought about that for quite some time when checking the MegaMan cover.

Speaking of art books, is there anything more frustrating then finally finding a set of scans for an artbook you're looking for, only to find that the scans all have a nasty moire effect on them that renders them all but completely unusable?

I ran a sharpen filter over that art btw. It's a subtle effect, but it improves things a lot I think.

Grumble, when you make new covers, do you make a version with the classic white grid as well or did you switch over to the blue grid entirely? I'm on the verge of picking up a Master System because I never really gotten into it back in the day and I prefer the white version.
Title: Re: Sega Master System

@BadChad

The Taito games allways have something on the spine. In Rastan's case, the original had Rastan by Taito on it but sometimes, its just a logo. I believe SEGA handled distribution for them in the E.U.

@Kaiser

If i have the original case, i put a version of it up here. But Choplifter and Renegade came from a Carboot sale and were cart only. We allready have Shinobi here but i just noticed its the U.S version so i will put up the E.U one at some point. A JP Master System would be nice. Downer : You need an adapter for E.U/U.S stuff - Upper : It has an FM soundchip on board that is streets ahead of the western machine but only certain games use it.

If you or Kaiser need any covers in particular (if Kaiser joins the Master System party that is), let me know as i have quite a few games for the system. The Blue template is just something i fancied doing after seeing a SA release in that style. 99.9 % of my games are in the good ole' white grid boxes with the multi language backs.

Title: Re: Sega Master System
Post by: KaiserWAVE on December 29, 2010, 02:35:20 AM
What's the card slot for? A quick google search brought up that there were only a handful of games released for it. Are there any gems only released on this format that are worth getting or why are you suggesting to get one with the card slot? I am looking for a Master System MK1. But the main reason for that is that they scrapped the RGB output on the Master System II.
Title: Re: Sega Master System
Post by: Grumbleduke on December 29, 2010, 04:34:10 AM
Well, as you allready know, the MK1 does RGB scart (worth having it just for that). Most of the card games were also released on cart BUT the cards are far more collectable and there aren't that many of them so its entirely possible to get them all. And if you want to get hold of the 3D glasses and carts, you need the card slot to plug them into, though they're pretty damned expensive to be fair.

Ok. I seem to remember someone requesting a MK III/Master System UGC cover template. Well this is a template that i have ammended into my allready existing one. To be honest though, there are bits i need to improve upon before it could be classed as useable. This was more of a mock up just to see how it looked AND finding MKIII/JMS scans that you can grab JP characters from is a task and a half so it probably won't get  much use. The Ninja (various)

A U.S version of the retail cover. I also made an E.U version which is similar to Lish's AU one but minus the stickers he probably could'nt get off it. Seems a waste to post a preview of it as its the same as the U.S one but with multi-language.

A re-imagining of the original E.U cover.

One that's feeling blue.  ;)

Your spot on AQ, they are indeed JP versions. I grabbed them from a Brazilian site (sadly now defunct) quite some time ago with the idea of adding a JP option to my template. Problem is that although the cover art is useable, the chars etc, that i need for the template are not good enough quality. I only have a few of them unfortunatly. If you want to adapt them to your new template, let me know and i will dig out the raws.

@BadChad

T.Y :). The PAL stuff is almost identicle to the U.S, just with multi-language backs. Some of the S.A cover art is interesting.. and i would LOVE to try out Street Fighter II...its a brave guy who ports that to Master System. :)

Well, it seems that my template isn't too terribly popular compared to yours (not that I'm bothered by that, yours is fantastic) so I'll probably just keep it for personal use. I'd love the raws you might have though, SMS art is really hard to come by, hence why I had to work with upscaling slightly-too-small images (a lot of which actually came from wallpapers on the japanese Sega Ages website).

In the interest of completeness though...its going in. :)
I'm the one who requested the Mark III template. Very nice work!

Im not entirely sure that it suits the retail template as it has very few 'defining edges' to cut around without losing the sky from the picture and making it look a bit bare. Fading it into the grid produces better results but is less authentic to Sega's designs of the time. I will let you guys decide...

Admittedly, it is confusing to have a picture of the larger converter on the back of the box when the case is being used for the small converter. I guess it works for those who want it as a placeholder as well, but really, who would want a placeholder cover for that?

Well that one looks nice. No card slot on that one either, right? I say, replace the picture with that one. (Official Sega version II). The Tokotek one is ugly. Then change the first paragraph of the description on the back to:

Now with the Sega Master System Convertor you can play over 80 original games designed for the Sega Master System on your Genesis system. Classic games known for their hours and hours of fun and excitement.

Remove the second paragraph, change every other mention of "Power Base" to "Master System", remove all mentions of Sega cards and 3D glasses, and, so the case will work for Sega's version II or Tokotek's convertors, add this line to the bottom:

*Convertor shown may vary from pictured. Does not support Sega Cards or SegaScope 3D Glasses.

Not too bad looking. Some things.

The artwork should be color corrected cause in their current state they look washed out pretty badly.

Is the legal stuff all like it should be? Players, rounds, legal text and barcode should all be fitting.

Beware of Typos. I found some in the german part of the text. Please proofread everything.

Other than that nicely done! The template looks pretty nice too although we allready have a standardly used template made by grumbleduke for SMS covers.

A yes and merged the thread with our MS cover thread.

Yes.  He's hoping to be back soon.  Lots of real life stuff been going on, but things starting to calm down.  He said he'd drop by soon.

operation wolf done and dusted - was a great scan.  rear text was nice and crisp - usable without having to retype or use OCR. (which is the killler on these multi lingual covers.)

upping to wiki now

Thanks Sheep  ;). Just finished work and picked the kids up from nana, so when they're in bed I'll start scanning and uploading some more raw SMS covers. Some are exrental and have a pink sticker on the spine which I'm scared of ripping so just let me know in future if they're worth scanning. Keep up the awesome work!  :)

ok - will have a look later.  Have done a battle outrun for you and upped to the wiki.

with all these, are you after a retail look, or are you going for uniformity witin your collection? (ie:grid size is smaller in the later releases, and the cover art on the spine) - personally I hate the smaller grid, and when i get around to it, i'll be redoing all mine in a retro style.

edit: Bubble Bobble done too.

Really must start focusing on some covers i actually need now - not games i now need to buy! LOL  ;D

Really do appreciate all the work you are doing here mate and I apologise for asking for covers that you maybe on your aquire list  :D.

Just got this in - along with (finally) the 3-D glasses.  Unfortunately the game was naked, and the glasses turn out to have a small crack in them, which makes me nervous to use them in case they break.

well - this one took MUCH longer than anticipated!

3 flavours.
almost retail
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sheep2001/msnz1.jpg)

retail with grid
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sheep2001/msnz2.jpg)

and retro
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sheep2001/msnz3.jpg)

and another off your list:

complete rebuild on this one, as the scan was pretty mangled.  couldn't find the exact front image - but pretty damn close to retail:

here's a normalised version for people like me who need a grid pattern on everything :o)

I know this thread is old, but I just recently found a bunch of boxed Master System games.  Here's what I found:

Double Dragon
Gangster Town
Great Soccer
Hang On / Astro Warrior
Miracle Warriors
Rastan
Reggie Jackson Baseball
Shooting Gallery
Thunder Blade

These games either don't have covers on the site or their covers aren't able to be downloaded from the forums anymore.  Anyone interested in making Master System covers anymore?

For years, I'd had a loose copy of Power Strike. Well, it was practically loose. I had the cover but it looked like someone had spilled a coke on it. I gave up on ever having a nice cover for it. So I sold it in a lot. Now, just a few months after I've sold it... Here's a cover... Darn it!

Good work tiktektak.

I took the plunge, and i'm going for a full master system EU set.  Busy casing up my loose carts -  these wont be hosted because they are for sega clamshell size, and the dimensions have been twekaed to be a better fit than grumbledukes original template - and some of the screenshots are a little fuzzy.  However, all texts retypes, and logos replaced where necessary.  They will be available in my box.net account.

Good work sheep! The more time passes the more Sega Maser System intrigues me. I got my first Master System in high school from my CAD teacher for $10 CIB w/ the zapper (thats all he wanted for it). I'm always happy to see the master system get some love.

If you are using Grumbleduke's template keep in mind the white color he used for the background isn't a true white. When printing them out they come out slightly off white and orangey. I always have to adjust the brightness and contrast before printing off any of the SMS covers that use his template before printing.  Unfortunately i found this out after getting about 20 covers printed off. I was hoping once they were cut out it wouldn't be as bad but they look awful next to the retail covers.

Nice work sheep!

I will look at them and see if they are maybe fit for the site. Dimensions don't matter as long as they are right.

@shenske:
Strange about the orange look. Mine look more like a dark white but pretty nice. Maybe my printer converst them differently.

I get pretty much everything printed at Office Max here. If i adjust the covers to +8 on brightness it seems to even it out.

Yeah, the template uses a slightly pinkish white, but I actually quite like it.  As the rest of my covers  have a little age to them they blend in quite nicely..

Yes, the master system lasted an extra few years in Brazil, and as a consequence, picked up quite a few interesting game gear ports, and some exclusives and hacks.  Not including them in my full set as they are generally quite pricey, however if I come across any I definitely will pick them up,

Yep Yep. I've been trying to track down a Brazilian copy of Battlemaniacs even though its buggy. Last time i saw it it was pretty pricey  :o

Master Systems are mostly region free.  Many PAL and Brazilian games will play, but there area few that won't play correctly. (slow down, glitches, ect.)

Here's a pic of all the exclusives
(http://bp1.blogger.com/_zu6J3mdj7OU/SIodHVhUpWI/AAAAAAAAABQ/vWIxHX5R-ws/s1600/allofthem.JPG)

If you want some suggestions for PAL exclusive games, let me know.  There are some great games we never got and they're not that expensive.

I've been dying for a copy of Battlemaniacs for SMS. I saw it for $150 Buy it now about 4 - 5 months ago but I was broke because I was reserving money for the Xbox One and PS4.

This took a ridiculous amount of time for a "meh" sports title, and as such I was lazy with the multi-language on the rear, only 5 of the 8 on the retail..  But on the plus side, I now have a nice clean US Gold template to use on future games.  ;D

Current Master System count - 167

Looks pretty damn good if i say so myself.

SMS Chuck Rock 2 - Son of Chuck

Another complete rebuild, and used Tik's megadrive cover from the site for the front.  Logo not completely retail, but best i could do.

Ha!

In all seriousness though I'm still trying to decide if I want my PAL Master System games to have a different style of cover from my US games.  I was thinking of using the blue SMS format, but I still don't know. I have time to think.  I'm working on PC Engine right now.  I've been making a few of my own with the template from the site here.  So far I'm pretty happy with them.

Meh, since Master System is region free just case them together. You have to be hard pressed to even tell if it's the PAL or NTSC versions anyway

Since is region free do PAL games play well on a NTSC system? There's quite a few games I'd like to get if that's the case.

Made the NTSC version of Penguin Land. I used the Grumbleduke's front and screenshots as the base and just added the NTSC back text and Barcode.
On a side note, I want to know who the hell Sega got to do the backs of the NTSC games. They all seem like they all have broken English and run on sentences.

Well after a fun Thanksgiving holiday break I'm starting to wind down and get ready to go back to work tomorrow.  Since it's raining, I can't do any of the other outdoor projects I had planned, so I started to try and knock out the remaining Master System covers that I'm missing.  I'll share them here since I haven't been able to find them anywhere else on the site.

I don't really expect these to be site worthy, but I wouldn't mind getting some feedback on how far off I am from the site standards.  Unfortunately, my source material is what I've been able to find through Google since I have nothing to scan of my own.

These are sized for UGC's since that's what the template was setup for.  I'm just resizing as I print for my Sega cases.  I'll upload others as I go.

I typed sooooo many of those multi language texts before I started googling them.  Felt like a bit of an idiot when I found them. Lol.

I find typing the first line of the text into google yields good results.  Sometimes you need to switch to google.fr for the French, Google.de for the German, etc, but still quicker than messing about with the ascii  codes for all the accents, umlauts and upside down exclamation marks.  ;D

Out of curiousity, do Sega Mark III carts fit in a regular Sega Master System clamshell, or are they too big?

The Pin Edge Connectors have a different layout.

It's been a while since I did any SMS covers - but i'm back to trying to finish the complete set.  Picked up a few cart only games recently, so will be doing a few more when time allows.

First up - Fantastic Dizzy (Genesis/shadowfox sized case)

Thanks matey.  Speaking of master system, over the weekend I uncovered the box of goodies I was supposed to send to you.  It got packed in with all my other games while the works were going on.  Will let you know what's in it over the next couple of days, and see if you want anything added to it.  ;D

Maybe this is a stupid question but how can I use the ones that look like the case is standing up? Am I missing a link to download?

If you mean those that sheep2001 posted on previous page, those can be found on his box account, link is in his signature just above the box saying Fraggle1973.
