Is there any interest in expanding the consoles to the classics. These are hard to find but much sought after by me and possibly others. I have prepared a PDF of the Intellivision Donkey Kong Manual and scans of the cart label and cover (tidied up as best I could given poor box condition..but presentable I think).
I will upload as "dreamcast" for consideration. Here are some thumbs. The cover is sized for the universal game case (in the hope that one day I manage to get my hands on some).
LISH.

I'd say the more the merrier. Even if there would be just a handful of games.
-
Hey, ya never know.....
If you get it started, someone might come along that has a closetful of boxes... :)
-
Wow .... do these still exist? I threw my intellivision out after it broke as a doorstop. I mean .... if it couldn't keep a door open it's pointless right? So I replaced it with a Commodore PET PC. Now THAT could keep a door open. Mind you .... it was big and heavy and took up a lot of real estate ;D
-
Actually come to think of it, I have a bunch of misellanious old videogames. Anyone want me to do anything with any of it? Heres a list:
ColecoVision & ADAM games: (My ADAM died in like 86', so these games have just been sitting around collecting a heck of a lot of dust since then)

If someone wanted to do any Atari, I know they have a crapload of box scans at atariage.com. I think most of them are just the front and back, though. No sides.
-
I personally am all for the scanning of the Colecovision/Adam boxes. This stuff is history and if no-one scans the boxes, they will be lost forever. Time Pilot I would love for sure. Its my all time favourite and colecovision was the only console port. I have the original (sort of... its emulated) in my cocktail cabinet.
-
Wanted to let you guys know that I found in another box allllll the old boxes for the games I mentioned, most of them in really good shape, just incredablly dusty. I swear I think those boxes have been collecting dust SINCE 1983 :D
I'll have to dust them off before I scan them, but I'm worried about damaging them. Any ideas on what I could try?
-
Try and electrostatic duster. If you dont have one of those, then use a soft damp cloth (something like a chux dishcloth...I'm sure with globalisation we all have the same products being pedalled to us). Remember to wring the cloth out of all excess water. The cloth should not be wet, just damp. You will have to wash the cloth out often and it will take some time. I would keep well clear of solvents or furniture polish like Mr Sheen (assuming they sell that in north America).
Now, if you scan those I will be very tempted to search for a colecovision on ebay and start collecting the games.
-
Well, I'm not really trying to bump this thread, but it's a little pointless starting another one. I redirected to the intellivision again. Initially, I lost interest because my boxes where in pretty poor condition (after all, they are 26 years old). But, Intellivision cases are all but standard, so I put a lot of effort into creating a template that matched the originals, without using much of the original box. All I really needed was the Logo, which I scanned, touched up and added transparencies.
So, all that is needed to change the template into a fully fledged cover is to change the background color and front picture fram colors using the fill command, add the picture inside the frame on the front, and add the scanned screenshots to the rear....and there you have it, a replica of the orginal box sized for the universal game case, without any color inconsistencies that we always get from scans (which ultimately isn't that noticable, if at all, in the printed version anyway...but doesn't look the best on screen).
Anyway, heres Space Armada.
-
Your effort is very much apreciated! I don't own an Intellivision and don't plan to buy one, but I think it's great that you put work into it to try to case the games. Even if there's just two or three covers in the end, there's always two or three people searching for just these covers :)
-
Here's another one...
-
And Another...
-
Gorgeous! :D
That's all I can say about your effort! I talek to my girlfriend because she has got an intellivision somewhere at her fathers house... I'll look if I can get some of her boxes and scan them...
Regards Seb
-
That would be great Sebastion. I already have baseball and basketball which I will add tomorrow. Anymore would be greatly appreciated.
On another note, I've made this response on my new Wii with the trial browser.
-
I've tried the opera browser too on Wii....
Not bad at all but a little bit slow I think...
Have you got a keyboard plugged in an USB port of the Wii(does that even work) or do you use the pointer(which is a little bit exhausting over time)?
Regards S
-
At the moment I am using the pointer. If a wireless mouse and keyboard could be plugged into the Wii, this would be great. I'm not sure that PC peripherals will work though. I need to read the manual I guess, just in cast the warranty is viod by plugging one in.
Well, here is basketball. I am improving over time. This case is a little more detailed on the rear than the rest. I have included a link to the file to demonstrate the clarity of the emulated cover...much better than if I just scanned it, and almost perfectly accurate, including the fonts (except for scaling of course..to fit the UGC).
http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Lish.dc_lish%20-%20intellivision%20-%20basketball_au.jpg

and...here is the last one that I have...Baseball.
-
Hello Lish and everyone!
I finally managed to get a hold off my girlfriends intellivision games.... Was a pretty hard thing because we almost never see my girlfriends father(divorced).... But I think it was worthwhile to say at least because she hast got a whopping 12 games.... All in their original boxes!!!! :)
There are:
Lock'N'Chase
Tennis
Golf
Bowling
Star Strike
Astrosmash
Soccer
Skiing
Advanced Dungeons and Dragons
Tron Maze-A-Tron
Tron Deadly Discs
Night Stalker
What do ya say? I think I can scan everyone except Lock'N'Chase which was allready posted.... Am I right?
It would be very nice Lish if I could get your template.... :) Would make my life easier because repairing them will be a real hard task otherwise...
Regards Sebastian

Tiktektak,
Great. I have all except the five below (been thrashing around on ebay lately), so if you want to upload the raws for those then next week I'll start work on expanding the covers. As you know, I pretty much create the covers from scratch because of their condition. I am happy to share the template around if anyone else wants to recreat these covers.
Tennis
Bowling
Star Strike
Skiing
Tron Deadly Discs
-
Ok no problem if you want to do those yourself.... It's less work for me so I'm happy with it...
I've got to work on many Genesis/SNES/MegaCd/Dreamcast covers so I've got enough on my to-do list.... ;D
I'll upload the raws in the next few days for ya.... Sorry that I didn't get to it sooner but as I said it was a little complicated!
Regards Sebastian

Yay, more SNES covers. That would be great. Just sold my house in Qld cause I moved 2000kms south to Melbourne a couple of years ago. I need to use some of the money to extend my house here, but the rest will go into my favourite hobby.
By the way...
INTELLIVISION CARTS FIT SNUG SIDEWAYS DOWN THE BOTTOM OF THE UGCS
32X FIT PERFECTLY (EVEN BETTER THAN) N64 CARTS WHERE THEY GO IN THE UGCS
PC-50X CARTS FIT (Barely) AFTER A LITTLE TRIMMING. I'D RECOMMEND WIDE DVD CASES FOR THESE
NES CARTS REALLY NEED A LOT OF CHOPPING TO FIT..SO I'D USE WIDE DVD COVERS.
PAL SNES FIT OK VERTICALLY IN THE UGC'S
PAL MEGADRIVE FIT OK AS WELL
Sebastian, with regard to you now collecting Neo Geo. I found a site that sells snap cases ($8.50 US) and provides the sleeves for you to print yourself or can do them for you for $3 US. I have access to a nice colour photocopier that does A3 prints at work, so im very lucky and can save the $3. I believe that the company ships internationally and also sells UGCs individually. I'll dig out their web site a little later on.
I have gotten the neo geo i bought to half work. A good spruce up of the cart pins and slot should finally fix it.
Thanks
Lish

Would be very nice to know the website but I really hope I can keep the Neo Geo games in their original boxes now that kaiserwave told me(and I looked a little bit around too) how beautiful those special cases are!
What was wrong with your Neo Geo?

EDIT: I just finished scanning all the needed intellivision covers in for ya lish.... One hast 15MB so puloading them to the site will take a while.... Hope you can use them because some off them are pretty used.... I did my best in scanning them in at the highest possible quality! :)

hey satoshi, you willing to part with your colecovision games, let me know .we could trade or sell.let me know.i loovvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee junpman jr!! :D
-
yeah sure, just post what you want in the other thread and give me the details. I'm not quite sure if theres a difference between the ADAM computer and the Colecovision because some of the games say "For ADAM & Colecovision" while others don't.
-
Time to start building that Intellivision collection, now that I have confirmed that they fit snugly in the UGC's (although in a location not perceived by the designers)
I've added five more intelivision cases. Here are two of them, including one by tiktektak..
I'm also trialling a new way to attach images...so fingers crossed.

Great Intellivision covers!
I have a bunch of Atari 2600 games, and they would fit nicely in the universal media cases by just shaving off just a few centimeters from the plastic in the case. They also would fit without any modding, it's just that they would rattle around in the case. If there is anyone else out there who wants to do this with 2600 games, there is a website called www.atariage.com (http://www.atariage.com) that has box scans for tons of games. The quality of the boxes greatly vary, but most of them are decent and have front and back scans. I am not too sure what the dpi of the images are though, so I am not sure if they would work. But, if they do it could be a great shortcut for Atari 2600 covers.
-
can you make a cover for "diner"for the intv?

Hmmm, I'm not sure i have it but I will look tomorrow. If not, I would need the raws and you would need to wait until thurdsay for me to do it. (if you upload the raws that is)

The Atari stuff is a must do. I have completed an atari 7800 and atari 2600 template and tested using the atari age scans. My hope was that someone would upload 300DPI scans as the atari ones are either 72dpi or something less than 150dpi anyhow. We shall see. Time is difficult ot find. Now ...back to that all night study on my assignment due tomorrow...8000 words done, only 7000 to go. Why am I here, I should be doing that assignment duh.

As for Atari I just got my first games for my new baby... So I thought I'd share the covers for it...
It's Ataris last console effort.... The Atari Jaguar....
My first box(sized for UGCs because the carts fit perfectly):
I uploaded it as a Sega32X game because the Jaguar was a little bit like it(no success... ;D ) but nonetheless a system with some great games.... and many not so great....
Maybe we could open a new section just named atari for all the atari stuff....? Or a jaguar section?
Bubsy:

-
Another Atari Jaguar game:
It's the first cover were I had to completely rebuild the front from scratch because it's colors were completely washed out.... The only problem left were the black/black differences.... But I suppose you won't see it that bad when printed out.... I hope so to say the least....
Again I uploaded it as a Sega32X game.....

We definitely need more atari and intellivision stuff..... Lish I'm looking at you.... ;D Your intv covers are great and I allready posted them all so please make some more!!!!
And thegr33k you should definitely post your atari 2600 covers!!!!!! We desperately need them for our atari2600 section!
Regards Seb

I've created a 32X Template, kinda rough and needs some polishing,a definite work in progress but I've been inspired by all the great covers I've seen on this site. Now I just need to work on a ColecoVision Template for all my loose carts...

OK, I have'nt been doing too much lately...been busy with my MBA. I have a marketing management exam on tuesday, but after that I'll get stuck into finishing off the 20 or so intellivision titles that are left (sebs and mine...unless more raws get uploaded).
Then I'll finish of the atari XE collection (I was going to give up but then I realised that not all atari XE carts are the shape of the Aussie ones. The Euro ones fit in the UGC's...and the UGC sleeves almost fit perfectly in the wide DVD cases that do take the Aussie XE carts)

Good luck with your exam!

Well, I've just completed 'bowling' for the INTV. I'll make an effort to clear the backlog now that Seb is diligently posting them up as soon as they can be uploaded.
-
Do we have any cover artists here (besides Lish, who I assume would be interested) who would be interested in working on Intellivision covers if I could round up enough people to scan the original boxes in?
Second, I see the current Intellivision covers are made to fit the Universal Media Cases... Which, I don't believe, will fit most Intellivision games snugly. Any ideas on a better case, or is the UMC pretty much it?
-
As I remember when lish started the idea of making covers for intv he tried to piut the carts in different cases and decided that the UMCs would be the best... I think he stated that only EU carts have problems in the cases and US ones fit or something like that...
Just do a forum search there should be a thread somewhere....
-
I sent Lish a message asking for him to express interest in this thread. Hopefully, he'll stop by and chime in... :)

I may be wrong, but I don't think he's been here for a while. If you're nosy as to why:
SPOILER :P
Family.
-
Yeah... no hurry though. It's been, what, 27+ Years on some of these games anyway. ;)
-
Well...i have been working on a template for intv on and off for a while. Its based on Lish's UGC designs but ive had a bit of a job trying to match the font he used for the game name on the spine. As Lish has done quite a few allready, and as its pretty important that the spines all match,i was going to wait till he comes around again and answers a p.m i sent him.
However as we dont know when this will be,i posted this as its about as close a match as i could get.See what you think Bob.

I like... :)
I just love the old Intellivision cover artwork... ;)
-
Yeh...i particularly like the gaming network boxes. They have a real 70's look to them. You can almost hear their flared trousers and big collars flapping! ;)
Added Sea Battle also.

Here there be Dragons...
http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Grumbleduke.custom.intv_advanced_dungeons&_dragons.jpg
but the other covers i upped have all dissapeared.Did not cut the mustard perhaps ?
-
If they were there before they're probably being processed right now by one of the other admins. If there was something wrong with it I'm sure there'd be a post here telling you about it.
-
Yup that's right I'm in the process of adding them.... Please be patient my son...
-
ok..i'll shut up then ;)
-
I'll move the thread to it's appropriate location...
I also merged it with the thread where lish started the intv cover making...
Besides I posted all your stuff grumbleduke... The only thing that wasn't looking especially good was the front artwork of berzerk... Is this from a bad scan or does the front really look so "pixelated"?
-
Ooops! What i posted was an earlier version of Berzerk with a 'scraping the Barrel' scan i had.I have a better one that i should have posted.I will up that one instead.Sorry about that.
Oh and by the way,the Smurf Sega cd cover was one of mine, not VT102's (his are better!).I dont think this game had an NTSC release,i knocked it up like that just to keep it in line with my collection,so maybe it should be a 'no region'.

Grumbleduke,
thanks for the PM. I almost forgot about the site. I will forward you my templates so you can continue the legacy (err...not mine, but the sites collectively). You have done an excellent job with the Atari 2600 covers considering you didn't have the template and had to recreate yourself. You'll note the differences between the older cases (the color ones) with the fonts depending on whether the cartridge label had a picture label or text label (I don't know why I mentioned that, its just a subtlety I picked up on doing my first cases).
Keep up the excellent work.

Different take on Lish's version, this one has game description and piccie on the back.Wether its different enough though...
My covers are an emulation of the original boxes that I had. Some of my boxes have pictures and text, whilst others only have the screen shot on the back. I assume that some boxes would have been printed in both formats.
So from my point of viewe (without actually seeing your cover), if your cover emulates the original box that has text on the rear (AKA basketball for example), Then this is also a legitimate original. If not, then some might like a custom cover that puts text on the back of their boxes.
PS, the more I think about that font, without looking, I beleive that it was Century Gothic.
-
Good morning,
Atariage.com has a selection of fonts that are very close to the actual ones used on Atari game boxes and labels. The following link has the fonts and a brief description.
http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/AtariFonts/index.html?SystemID=2600
Also, there is a site where you can easily set up and print a cart label for the atari made 2600 carts. The labels are not meant to be exact but very easy to use.

Yup...i have a couple of single piccie - no text covers myself, with some lovely holes factory cut either side of the box. Never could figure out there purpose...and hurry back out of (semi) retirement m8...we still got (nearly) all the Sports,Space,Arcade and Strategy Networks to do ;)..Not to mention Imagic,Activision,Coleco etc, etc.

It's kind of a mixture of different versions of the original cover, but if you prefer i can do a pictures only version (as in your scan).
So dust off the INTV and head for the digital piste! ;)

TY..lets round it up to four then :)
Brain Games
http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Grumbleduke.custom.atari2600_braingames.jpg
Mind you, these were the last of my decent Atari scans..could be scraping the barrel from here on in...
-
As I finally finished my exams for now yesterday I'll look through all of your covers today afternoon grumbleduke....
Thanks for all your time!
Besides please don't upload covers from bad scans.... :) We can't use them...
I will look through the intv covers of my girlfriend again.... Maybe they were not all turned into covers....
Regards Seb
-
Its only Atari scans im out of,I still have plenty of INTV and Colecovision i can get on with :),maybee some will turn up in the meantime. And please,if you have some INTV,that will be great.
-
Ok..this is a bit of an experiment. It was a pretty poor scan to start with that i ran through the Vector Magic site and tarted up some.I think maybe cartoon style covers suit this process best SOOO if a mod could take a look and see what they think for future reference (i know your busy :)),that would be great.

If this was made from a low res scan it's unbelievable good looking now... I suppose it's also because of the cartoon front right? Would it look ugly on a cover with more complicated pictures? Or artwork with real people and stuff....

Yes,its a very hit and miss process. Some covers come out looking pretty good but others, particularly the more"real" looking ones are not so good. However it will hopefully help me to complete a few other Atari covers with a bit of tweaking! ;)
-
Added all your covers grumble.... Very nice work!
Keep it up! Especially the intv covers are very very welcome.... :)
P.S. Still have to ask my girl about her intv game boxes....
-
Thank You :)
I hope to have some INTV done for the weekend.

Cleaned up at Vector Magic, the original had an "oil painting" look about it that lent itself quite well to the process.(well i thought so anyway :))
Super Football

I just now noticed something about the INTV & Colecovision Donkey Kong covers. The word maneuver is spelled wrong on both of them. I'm not sure if that's intentional or if you slipped up.

The Coleco version was a typo that i have corrected so well spotted there. The INTV one is the British way of spelling manoeuvre and is on the original box in that form (it was made in England and printed in Holland).Being British, this is the way i would normally spell it and the Coleco version has been changed to this spelling. In theory, they should be changed from no region specified to Great Britain i suppose... ;)

Night Stalker
http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Grumbleduke.custom.intv_night_stalker.jpg
A different version of the one posted by Lish.

I just thought I'd point out that you misspelled off on your new Night Stalker cover.

Upped Dark Chambers
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/darkchambers2.jpg)
I have messed around with this scan for longer than i care to remember. It came from Moby Games (and that was the best one i found!!) and thanks to Vector Magic and what seems like a lifetime of tweaking,i think it may be ok to use. Please check it out mods...
http://www.thecoverproject.net/uploads/Grumbleduke.custom.atari2600_darkchambers_none.jpg
In case anyone is interested, this is a zoom of the two scans. You have to lose some detail with vectors, but it helps with some of the other probs low DPI scans have.

I cheated! ;).The screenshot isnt the original one and as for the box,i happened to look in the raws folder earlier in the evening and saw it so i had a head start.I thought the front was pretty clean actually, some of the scans i have are REAL dirty and need ages to fix up.

Upped Space Hawk

Very very nice indeed my friend! :)
With only 125 intv games released(afaik) we will complete this section in no time thanks to you grumble....
-
Jeez Grumbleduke, I didn't know how much work you did. To be honest I don't hang in the UGC section because the only system there I own is N64 and that section is for the most part complete. Thus, I don't read the UGC section. But dang your covers are nice.

Allowing for good quality scans, work(where i am now) :(,a demanding woman, kids and a little social life of course... ;)Jeez Grumbleduke, I didn't know how much work you did. Thanks m8 :).I actually find doing them pretty relaxing...The template now has more or less all INTV elements included and im going to spend a little time putting it in order this week.I have about 10 good INTV scans left for some more "relaxation" this weekend..
-
Upped Space Spartans
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/spacespartans.jpg)
Picked up 4 titles for this section from the U.S. Pound is good against the dollar so i got them for a pretty good price.Only downer is that postage can take a loooooong time getting to the U.K.

Upped Mission X

-
Upped Microsurgeon
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/microsurgeon.jpg)
I got around to doing an Imagic template and decided to go with this top (at the time) game first.Anyone who knows about the original boxes will know that they were "foil" coated, which is bad news for scanning AND printing. So i went with that old favourite of light grey and kept the rest largely the same.I think it looks ok but if anyone has an alternative suggestion before i do anymore..input would be appreciated. If anyone cares about the poor ol' Inty that is... ;)
-
Looks very good grumble!
You should slow a little bit down by the way... I almost can'T keep up with posting your covers.... ;D
Regards Seb

Upped...........Dracula !
Had to guess some of the wording on the rear of this cos' the scans were so bad i could'nt read them !
-
Upped Tropical Trouble.
Custom back for this one.The scans were unreadable so i took a game description from an old IMAGIC catalogue. Should the chance ever arise, would like to change to a more authentic version.
-
Is there an atari 2600/vcs template?
-
Is there an atari 2600/vcs template?
There was untill a couple of days ago..had a disk failure and thought all templates were safe but cant find the Atari ones now. :-\ However i do have some less complete versions i had backed up and i will probably get those in order at some stage.
-
Upped Turbo
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/turbo.jpg)
Very much a custom (dont think it had a seperate box,was packed with the steering module but i could be wrong) made up of various covers and catalogue entries. Hope to do more Coleco as the Atari / INTV scans are drying up.
-
O yes coleco covers would be extremly welcome too!
We have near to none on our site up to now! :(
Regards
-
Upped Nova Blast (coleco flavour)

Frenzy
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/frenzii.jpg)
Lish Template to follow. While on the subject, this is a custom build of a multi-language version i had.I have been posting Lish versions and U.K versions of late but would like to know if there is any interest whatsoever in some Euro multi-language versions. If so,i will make up and post them where i can but would rather not bother if there are no takers (3 versions is pretty time consuming!)I know Coleco is a bit of a niche market so input from anyone would be nice.
BTW -Tiketak. Did i post Time Pilot for Coleco? I seem to remember doing so..or maybe there was a problem ? Let me know and i will post it if i had forgotten.
-
I posted everything from you which was on our server today grumbleduke.... So what's not here wasn't there.... ;D

Frogger

River Raid
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/riverraid.jpg)

-
Demon Attack

-
Bomb Squad
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/bombsquad.jpg)
The last of the stand alone Intellivoice games. That then completes the Intellivoice Network of covers for the site (allbeit that there were only 4 games in the Intellivoice Network ;) )
-
Fantastic work Grumble... As always.... Will upload when I find time.....
Thanks for your INTV love..... ;D
-
Fantastic work Grumble... As always.... Will upload when I find time.....
Thanks for your INTV love..... ;D
T.Y :)
Looking at doing some crossovers for 2600 and Coleco.Imagic and Parker games had similar boxes for all so with a little messing (and time),it could come together.
-
Frogger
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/frogg26.jpg)
Quick (ish!!) switcharound from the INTV version to get a 2600 one.
-
Subroc (Lish Template)
..and UK version.
A nice sellotape tear had obliterated the 'S' and part of the top left hand ship(closer inspection will probably reveal this ;D ). Lucky nearly all Coleco games have 1 or 2 players, multiple screens and 4 skill levels. Dont think i have ever had to change that! ;)
-
Ladybug (U.K)
...and Ladybug (U.S.A)
Notice the scantily clad Ladybug on the cover, who bears no resemblance to the insect variety found in the game. ;)
Another ripped up box that took ages to fix up...Soooo time consuming.
-
Front Line (U.K)
Front Line (U.S/Lish template)
Rear of the U.S version is a total work of fiction. No info/piccie of the orig box to be found. Info taken from the 2600 version. You can play this without the controllers...but you need about 10 fingers per hand to do so. And as IMO, the standard Coleco controllers are the worst in the world, (aching hands after 2 mins !!!) it makes for a tough game.
-
All these covers are so great. Its made me want to go buy the systems.
-
Those are awesome covers, but can I ask why the NTSC Coleco covers have CBS Electronics on them? I don't think CBS were ever involved with the Colecovision in North America.
-

That particular design was started by Lish and was allready established so when i came along, i just stuck with it. Actual NTSC boxes normally just had shots of the arcade cabinet on the front, but the back is largely similar. I could alter it but at this point, its not worth it. I believe they were labelled as Australian versions to begin with too, which explains the CBS involvement.

Jup lish is australian!

I've been away now for over 6 months, completing my MBA and dealing with work and family.
What have I found since I have been away? well....thanks to Grumbleduke, its like I never left.
I would very much like to thank Grumbleduke for his amazing contributions since I have been away.
I hope to contribute more soon, particlualry 3DO, INTV and ATARI.

Nice lish that you are still around!
Would be awesome to see some more of your work soon.... :)

Welcome back. Like doing these the best but im running low on usable stuff now. Looking foreward to seeing your stuff again. :)

Finally I made another Atari Jaguar cover:
I'd love to have more games for this console but there were so few really good ones that it's difficult to build a collection.... ;D
Anyway there you go....

Thanks for the flowers... It isn't my best work though....
As for the Jaguar... It's a real pity this console was extremly seldom used to it's full potential....
For me personally it's the most beautiful console in my collection especially with the Cd unit on top it looks like a spaceship.... :) The controller is real bad although....

Agreed with the controller though if you want a real hard time, Coleco controllers take some beating !! ;)

Yeah.. The Jaguar controller was voted as one of the Worst controllers ever made. Even worse, there is no 3rd party options.

As i allready said, i hate the Coleco controllers big time. The INTV disc is ok for sports stuff, but Arcade style gaming is a bit of a chore with it, especially when the contacts start wearing. And anyone who used the 3DO pad for Samsho or Street Fighter would probably want to put that in the mix somewhere. As for the Jag pad...it aint great. Kasumi Ninja anybody? ;)

Amidar
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/amidar.jpg)
Front made from a cart label scan(i dont have the box) and a net one cobbled together. The little gorilla piccie on the back and spine came from the front scan too cos' all the ones i could find were crap quality. Had to paint out all the other stuff and paint in his ear/ sides of his face, then straighten him up and change his eyes so he looks out instead of down at the warrior. So if anyone has the orig box and wonders why he does'nt look the same...that's why. :) Oh for a good scan of Polaris.....

Back in the day when I first got my 3DO I also got an adapter that would let me use my SNES controller on it. SSF2T played awesome with them (back in the day). But yeah.. your right... The 3DO controller is not that great, specially the Goldstar one.

I think i still have a SNES pad adapter but it no longer works, something i was going to take a look at one day. If i remember correctly, the PAL 3DO Samsho manual mentions a controller mod for the Panasonic pad by which you loosen the screws on the thumbpad side, prize the halves apart slightly and wedge a piece of paper in there. I seem to remember trying that and it helped a little. Not sure if the U.S manual condoned doing the same thing though.

Q*bert
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/qbert.jpg)
After some quite nicely designed(and uniform) box rears for INTV/2600, for the Colecovision they came up with this. Still, thats the way it is so...
-
Hey, I was just wondering if any of you knew if the Masters of the Universe: The Power of He-Man game for the 2600 had any more of a cart label than the one on top that says it's name. Mine doesn't but it just seems kind of blank that way, although it is an insanely odd shaped cart compared to the rest of my 2600 collection. ???

If Atariage is right, its a Mattel cart for 2600 and in that case will be shaped like an INTV cartridge. And if that is the case, then it will have just a label with the name on the top in white or black. Check out Atariage and see if it matches :

Yeah, that would be it. Thanks!

Donkey Kong
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/dk.jpg)
....and another from the request list. Coloured differently to the similar case for INTV. As i spent ages fixing up the front from a crap scan i may well get some extra mileage from it and use it for a UK Coleco Donkey Kong cover.

Donkey Kong (U.K)
I have a distinct lack of time lately, squeezed this out cos' it was easy(ish). A complete work of fiction made just because i had done U.K versions of most of the other Colecovision games AND because i had worked on the scan for the 2600 version. :)
-
Those Donkey Kong covers are all kinds of awesome.

Nice to see some of you again grumble.....

I still have a lot of MD games we dont have on the site to do, and a request list for my unboxed ones to post at the weekend. Still after the elusive Atomic Runner scan in anyy format i coud work with. :)

Mario Bros
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/mariobrosgen.jpg)
Done in the style started by Lish that most 2600 site covers are in. Looking into a more accurate U.S version. The first Mario Brothers for a home machine?

Roc 'n' Rope (UK/custom)

Due to very bad luck (a power cut and unsaved work >:( ), U.S Mario Bros is no more. So worked on this instead. Lish template and another version to follow, gotta get the most from the scan! ;)

Mat Mania Challenge (Atari 7800/U.S/NTSC)
First 7800 game i have done. Made a Template up from Lish's earlier efforts. As this was an established design, i have kept it as Lish had done so it matches 2600 cases but in grey, rather than alter the spine font to the original Atari one. Dont have many 7800 games so there probably wont be that many coming.
-
Ballblazer (Atari 7800/NTSC/U.S)
I remember getting much joy from the C64 version of this. Pretty much identicle to that version. Why could'nt we have 'The Eidolon' on the 7800 as well, eh Lucasfilm/Atari ? ;)
-
Impossible Mission (Atari 7800/NTSC/U.S)
So the guys with a U.S version really have got an impossible mission on there hands as its bugged and cant be completed. Us PAL types were lucky...ours was fixed. ;D Shame they could'nt get the speech from the C64 version in.
-
If I may point this out, there's two typos on the Impossible mission cover. "avois" should be "avoid", and "did'nt" should be "didn't". I hope you didn't upload that cover yet, because you should fix those two mistakes first before uploading it.
-
Fixed T.Y ;). I rarely upload anything that does not spend at least 2 weeks on the forum.. One of the reasons i use large previews is that if i make an error, someone normally spots it. As a side note, all the 7800 covers i have used on the site so far have the same typo on the spine, something that i will fix should the option arise.
-
Ah yes - the video game "cartidge" ;D
Incidentally - if you are in the mood for some more 7800 fun, i have retail boxes for Dig Dug, Crak'ed, Joust and Ace of Aces if required - all pretty good scanning condition.
-
That would be great if you could mate.Only need the fronts because they have to be rebuilt anyway. I only have 7 carts for this system myself and all of them bar 2 are covered by the site now. B.T W did you get much snow? I was meant to be working in Kent today but was warned not to go by just about everyone i spoke to, so i get another day of cover making and gaming (wife permitting ;))

Must have missed this response somehow - yeah, we had 10 inches of snow on that monday, no chance of getting to work, main route i drive down was closed, and there was no way i was going to attempt going cross country. Made it to work the following day for about 11.
I'll get those fronts upped right away! :o)

Joust (Atari 7800/NTSC)
Thanks to sheep for the front scan, saving me the bother of trying to flatten out the indents that are allways in Atari cardboard boxes, no matter how carefull you are with them, which leads to blurry patches right in the middle of what would otherwise be a good scan.(rant complete :))
Slight alteration to the normal 'Lish' version. Changed the font type on the spine title to match the actual Atari one. What are you waiting for...get flapping.

Nice covers grumble...
I always like to see some really old games getting "coverage"....
-
TY. :) Speaking of old covers, i have been working on Vectrex covers and overlays (for myself) over the last 6 months or so. It would be nice to host them here as Vectrex stuff of any use is REAL (to the power of 10) hard to find. There are problems (overlays dont fit in a UGC, carts are a wierd size)but i can live with that. Its a superb old machine and would sit well with all our other oldies. ;)

Would the carts(Manuals) fit in any kind of case? I suppose the overlays won't fit anywhere ;D but those can be kept seperately....

Sorry Tik, never noticed this reply (its normaly pretty quite in the oldies section ;)). The carts are slightly bigger than a Game Gear cart and about as thick as a SNES one is in the middle, or at it thickest. Overlays are WAAAAAY bigger than any kind of useable case, so they have to stay out of the box.

Shark! Shark! (Intellivision/U.S)
A game all Intv owners should have, the forerunner to Feeding Frenzy on XBLA. Still great fun today. Bought one from the bay at a reasonable price just for this box, i allready had an un-boxed one.
-
Boxing (Intellivision)
Picked this up again(lent my first copy out and never saw it again...there's a lesson there). Made up a fictional 'in the style of' back as i have the one with no writing on and those horrible cuts in it. (Made that version too for the purists..minus cuts of course). As a footnote, i believe this completes the Mattel Sports Network for the site. ;D
-
hey grum - if you still have a spare copy of shark! shark! - fancy a swap for something i may have?
-
hey grum - if you still have a spare copy of shark! shark! - fancy a swap for something i may have?
If i had still got the cart, i would have gone for it but when i received the new copy, i reboxed it and took it to the local independant game shop in town. I get on well with the owner there so he lets me put stuff in the cabinet to sell with no mark up for himself. Now i have had a couple of INTV and VCS games that have been in there months but Shark! went on the second day, maybe cos its a little rarer. It's a shame as i would have liked to pass it out to someone in the project. Whenever i get a dupe in future, i will let you know mate.

Moonsweeper
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/Grumbleduke/moonsweeper.jpg)
First new Atari cover in ages. Found this at a car boot sale with a couple of other titles.
-
Popeye (Intellivision)
Good old Parker Bros. Change the packaging design again. This is more or less 'as is' except i added the shot of Popeye's head to the spine (well im not positive it was not on the original as i have cart only and have not seen the spine) so as to match Frogger's cover. Actually quite a good little game taking in to account the Intv's graphical shortcomings. As a side note, this cover weighs in at about 3.2 megs which is about 206 times bigger than the actual game cart itself. ;)
-
What I really love about the Intv is it's sounds. ;D
Especially the soundtrack of Tron: Maze-A-Tron is unforgettable for me.... ;D

Oh yes...INTV had nice sound in its day. I loved Tron : Solar Sailer's music and especially the speech. Trying to remember the binary codes was a nightmare though (could have written them down but that's cheating ;))

Spider-Man (2600)
One i started ages ago but only just finished. Problem was that whoever owned it before me got the front water damaged and it had a kind of mottled effect all over it. I could'nt find a better scan so had to use my copy and repair it as much as i could, and believe me, it was a mind numbing process. Hence its taken a year to finish it it 20 minute bursts! ;). Its an ok game, would have been better if Spidey was animated a little better (actually, make that 'at all'). Very much like the old Crazy Climber arcade game. The front pic reminds me of the old Spider-Man cartoon of the seventies.
-
Slither (PAL/UK)
So i find i prefer this template nowadays to the other type and intend to switch over all the covers that are not allready made to it. If there would be any interest in a more 'US' version (the one badged as NTSC made by Lish is more Australian than US), a combination of the U.K and Lish versions should be easy enough to do.
-
Basic Programming (NTSC/US)
Not a game but still in need of a cover. A whole 128 bytes of RAM to use, no more than 9 lines of code allowed (11 with a trick i think) and a Basic quite unlike any i have ever seen. Came with a set of keyboard overlays fitted to the linked together pads to form a VERY rudimentry keyboard. Everyone (oldies ;)) knows the :
10. Print "Grumbleduke rools ok"
20. GOTO 10
that we all used to type in on shop display or unattended computers at school but i never tried it with this. I wonder....
-
Polaris (NTSC/US)
I have needed to cover this for years now and have given up on ever finding a scan good enough to use, so this is made in a similar layout to the original but with different front art. Simple and basic as was the style at that time... ;)
-
Gorf (PAL/UK/Custom)
Colecovision + useable scans = 0.
Work of fiction in the style of other U.K versions
-
Looping (PAL/UK)
Done in a U.K style from Lish's version as i cant' find anything to give me the data from the original release, let alone a useable scan.

-
Smurf (PAL/U.K)
A 'pad smasher' of a platformer, your hands will be aching within minutes as you wrestle with the coleco pad and the games pixel perfect jumps. I still enjoy the odd game of it, though im not sure why...
-
What font did you use for the back of the Atari 2600 covers?
Or, even better, is there a template of that style?
-
The template (such as it was) was lost ages ago when i had a drive go down. Most stuff was rescued but the 2600 stuff did'nt make it. All i had done was adapted what lish had made. I used Arial for both header and info text (Bold Italic for header, regular for info). If you have'nt allready done so, you could try grabbing something like Desert Falcon to get the text layout, size and spacing right. Then it should be easy enough to make it into a workable template, if you have other 2600 stuff to do. The only uncovered one i have left now is Gorf (2600 version stinks btw) but thats a CBS release in a completely different case.
-
Thanks for that Grumbleduke.
Here's the finished cover. I got the text as close as I could get to the other covers, but I don't think it's quite perfect.

I put this up today with a few small changes (hope you dont mind ;)). Improved the quality of the screenshots and front scan so you might notice differences there.
-
No, that's fine. I had wanted to use better pictures, but I couldn't find any.
-
I was only 12-14 when i had Coleco, but i recall the boxes being black. Most of the boxes in the archives are grey. Was that the color in Europe, or Canada, or am i just completely not remembering well?
-

The ones marked as U.K are more or less identicle to the original boxes. The others are based on Australian boxes AFAIK. U.S cases are different again, the backs being similar to the AU ones and the fronts varying.
-
I guess it's because the games are in black plastic, and the console was black plastic, that i seem to recall the boxes to be so too. I wish i kept the boxes, but i never kept any boxes back then...i never realized they would be useful one day.
-
I had a pm request for this and 2 other swordquest games. I've uploaded so expect cover-admins to post soon. It's a rush job, but it's not the worst cover on the site.
I see I am no longer a cover guru...sad :-(

You haven't been logged in for months lish so we thought you were gone forever! ;)
Nice to see you're still around though.
As for your title we decided to revoke those titles of people wo haven't been on the site for a longer period of time because those are only for "regulars".
If you are back now and will stay I think everyone will agree to give you back your guru status in an instant! :)
-
Even though I thanked you already in pm but you should come back in the project as part time hobby and I'm pretty sure you'll do a great job. Thanks again for doing my special request.

Hi, new here. Really like the covers in this thread, makes me want to go out and get some more older games. Just curious, since this seems to be a catch all for the systems from the Atari generation, any chance we'll ever see some Bally Astrocade game covers? I'd try myself, if I had any kind of artistic ability, but I don't.
As far as the boxes go, I actually have a copy of Bally Basic CIB if a scan would be needed for something like that and am working on getting more eventually.
-
Im guessing this is the right spot for this cover. Thanks to KaiserWAVE for the scans.

lol that is interesting, theme park is giving me a bit of quality issues on the front cover side of it. But i'll see if i can finish it soon.

Are you serious? They actually made a "White Men Cant Jump" game. Are there any white men in it? If not, what a racist game! ;)

LOL the game is complete trash even for its day. Glitches like a mofo. And has nothing to do with the movie except for the name.

Sorry grum for the extreme wait BUT know I managed to scan my Trevor Mc Fur box.

@Irvgotti:
I took a look at some of the covers you uploaded prior to our little site crash. Some of them are quite nice like ruiner Pinball but others are not. Please pay more attention to details!!!
Example:
Back text of Wolf 3-D has many spelling erros, word missing etc.
Doom is too dark and should be brightened up.
NEs golf game is still dirty in all the screen shots nad should be cleaned much more.
Please always take in consideration that our sites purpose is perfection NOT fast cover production.
Always double check for dust and scratches and other "ugly" stuff on every inch of the cover prior to uploading. Always double check for typos when retyping the text. Always check colors, saturation and sharpness prior to uploading.
All covers which are ok or had just small issues which I finished will be up on our site shortly (considering retro stuff which is my responsibility).
Thanks for your effort!

Nope that was a honest mistake although it would have been ingenious. ;D
By the way my post was not meant as harsh as it may sound but I am a person which cares about quality above everything else.
That is also the reason why there has been a lack of covers from me lately. I simply have no time for perfection and working for days to finish one cover is tiresome.
-
nah - that was one of your tamer responses. ;D
and those of us that stick around actually kind of like your quest for perfection. it means i'm never dissapointed when I download a cover.

Very much agreed :)

@tik
thanks for the feedback it's what I look for.
As for the jaguar covers I did notice those same exact errors and I have all those covers polished up and with a cleaner looking jaguar logo. Only reason they aren't uploaded is due to the obvious lol but if you'd like I can send them your way for quality assurance.

You could upload all you want on a file sharing site (mediafire or the likes) for the time being and I leech it and check everything. ;)
By the way Ruiner Pinball and Syndicate were pretty nice covers and are allready on the site. :)
-
Yea I'll upload it to my box account I'll send u the link later.

I've managed to get quite a few cases for my atari 2600 carts from this site, but im still missing quite a few, so i'll be making cases for my remaining carts where possible, heres my first one.
Basketball

I was wondering if maybe you could change the font on the spines? I always thought the font used for the 2600 spines looked a bit cheap. You can get the fonts Atari used here: http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/AtariFonts/index.html?SystemID=2600 (http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/AtariFonts/index.html?SystemID=2600)

Will check them in the next week or so.
Please always use the appropriate thread for your covers. We allready have a thread for INTV, Atari and Colecovision covers!
Moved.

I've decided to convert all my 2600 games to the new Atari 2600 style. I know they aren't exactly retail but i wanted all my games to match and i liked the style. I figure it'll match any 5200 games i may get in the future.

Plenty more to come, tell me what you think! :)
-
I like it, but I am not too sure on white on grey background for the spines. Seems kinda hard to read IMO
-
I like it. I've been re-covering a few of mine to match the original box style [text only, picture, silver box, red box, children's, etc - http://www.atariage.com/box_styles.html?SystemID=2600]
That way I feel less bad having duplicates of some games, as they're different styles, so it looks a bit better on the shelf. :)
-

I've got a few that I've already done, although a different font, and they're very easy to read on the shelf.
-

I originally thought that too but that is how all the silver/red covers are on the site. I figured since all of them are that way it must be easier to read when its printed out.
@Everyone
Do you guys think i should go back to the original style font (the front spine and back) or should i continue using the atari style font?
-
Do you guys think i should go back to the original style font (the front spine and back) or should i continue using the atari style font?
I prefer the original font as used on the silver boxes as opposed to the Atari-esque font. The font on those covers just doesn't fit IMO.
-
@ Michael:
Are you joking or what are you doing?????
Did you ever read anything on our forums what our site is all about?
All the covers you uploaded are utter crap and absolutely unacceptable!
We have strict quality standards on our project and ALL really all your covers used extremly low res artwork and were unclean! The customs had wrong pn and so on and so on....
So stop uploading crap and do it right! I don't have the time to check 20 or more covers for nothing.
-
Back to the original style text. Instead of making an individual preview for each cover i just put them all together (need to go to bed). As always, let me know what you think :)

Now that is what I call beautiful.
I'm so happy that we also got many people here who actually care about stuff. :)
By the way shenkse. Did you ever update your Universal Sega Template with the new stripe version?
Ektophases Turbografx template should also be added to our templates page. It is a very good one after all.
-
I absolutely love it - makes me want to get all the games i used to have that my sister left in her loft when she moved house! gorf, defender, phoenix..... all would look lovely in this template!

Adventure
I found some large artwork for this game on the net and it says it is 300 dpi but i am kind of unsure about it. I'm undecided if i want to upload it to the site or not. The artwork could have been that "rough" on purpose, it lloks like and old oil painting after all. :-\

Yeah, that would be awesome. I can't wait until all of these are uploaded. The template you are using for these 2600 games is easily my favorite of all of the styles in our 2600 section. These all look great, man.
Also, just a question, because this is a thread that includes "Atari", can we put Jaguar UGC cases on here? I just went through the forum and could not find a thread dedicated to Jaguar covers. Let me know! :P
-
Look back a few pages I've posted them here. And I have a few more coming, Club drive, double dragon, cybermorth, and a few others that TSOLfan uploaded for me :D

Raiden looks great. How is the game, though? I've been thinking about buying it, but I'm always weary of Jaguar games... :D
-
Raiden is one of those worth getting. Along with power drive rally and a handfull of other games. And I do mean handfull (including the game with box lol)
-
Hey, does anyone know if the upload feature works anymore? I have raw scans to a bunch of Jaguar games that need to be cleaned up, and it's beyond my power. Here are the games I have scans for:
- Attack of the Mutant Penguins
- Theme Park
- Flip Out!
- Zool 2
- Supercross 3D
- Val d'Isere Skiing and Snowboarding
- Double Dragon V
- Flashback
- Pinball Fantasies
Can any kind soul help me by cleaning these up? I could zip them up and put them on box.net or something if anyone is willing to help.
-
Check your pm's! ;D
-

Well, here's the zip file with all my raws...
http://www.mediafire.com/?ternsy4kswrzsfg
Irvgotti sort of already called dibs on the work, but if he needs any help, I guess it's open to the forum as well. :P
-
My cover making skills are non-existing, I just answered to your post as some of the covers I need too.
-
@Irvgotti:
I was attempting to start doing a Jag cover today using your template but the back text on my cover varies from the thre language style you got in your temp. Do you maybe have an updated template with the second style of back text (just english, white, with bullet points)?
A yes and I'm also missing the special helvetian fonts you are using in your template. Any idea where I can get them?
-
I'm halfway done with my day, in about 10hrs from this post (when I get home, if I don't have to work a second shift) I'll have all of that sent to you ;)

-
Hey guys, has anybody printed out any of the Atari 2600 covers using Shenske's template and put them into UGCs yet? If so, could you guys take some pictures of the spines, (maybe on a shelf with multiple ones lined up, if at all possible) to see how the white text on grey background comes out?
I'm toying around with the idea of changing the colors of the text on my spines to match the color of the orange bar to make it easier to read from afar. Orange-on-grey just seems like it would be easier to read than white-on-grey, but I'm hoping someone here could prove me wrong and show me that white is perfectly legible. (It would save me the trouble of a LOT of modifying. :D)
-
I printed off all the 2600 covers I have made so far and the white text is VERY legible on the gray background. When printed out the gray is a little darker so the white text does pop.I actually think that red text on the gray background would really hurt the eyes and not look really appealing. I'm not at my place right now but next time I am I'll try and get a picture for you of all of them lined up.
-
;D Im back! ;D
Finished a couple little projects I had saved.

WOAH. THEY'RE AWESOME. ALL OF THEM.
I can see I left my raw scans in perfectly capable hands! :P
That, and I'm SUPER glad to see that your hard drive didn't crash in the computer crisis! ;D I guess I'll have to get back to transcribing those backs for you at some point again. ;)

Cover - http://www.box.net/shared/q80yggh6m7 (http://www.box.net/shared/q80yggh6m7)
My first cover - Matchmaker!/Logix!/Buzzword for the Odyssey2. I realize the O2 isn't officially on the site, but I thought it would be neat to do some cases for it. If you guys could check it out and rip me apart for my mistakes that would be cool. Front cover and spine text where retyped, but I couldn't figure out how to line up the back text into neat columns, so I cleaned it the best I could. Also the line "The Ultimate Computer Video Game System" is in the Computer Regular font, which is like 20 some bucks, and I couldn't find a suitable replacement, so that got cleaned also.
I should Also note that I have no Previous experience doing any major graphic work, so this whole thing has been a learning experience.

YESSSS!!!!!!! Shenske, you have officially made my day! ;D This was the final cover needed for my 2600 collection!! Now all I need to do is make a Super Noah's Ark 3D cover (I ordered the manual off of eBay a few days ago, so I should be able to scan it and create one very soon.) and I will have successfully cased my ENTIRE UGC collection!! ;D
Actually, I forgot about irvgotti's work on my Jaguar raws... Oh well. It's getting close, though! :P

I got u bro I finished a couple during the weekend. So expect them on the front page soon ;)

You guys are just too good to me. ;D Haha, do you need me to transcribe the backs of any more of the covers, or are you backed up right now? I think there's just three more that need to have the backs transcribed.
-
Nah I did it myself. Which ones u need first? I'll send em ur way.
-
Aw man, you re-typed up all the backs already!? :-[ Sorry, bro, guess I wasn't fast enough for ya. :P
And I don't need them in any order. All of the games need to be cased with equal urgency. :D Whichever ones you've finished are good to send over to me. How many Jaguar games from my batch of raws do you have left to complete now?

Aw man, you re-typed up all the backs already!? :-[ Sorry, bro, guess I wasn't fast enough for ya. :P

Swordquest: Earthworld
A little bit of vectormagic solved the low rez problem i had with the art. I also switched some stuff around with the art :)

That looks real good actually, good touch with the vector magic. *taking notes* lol

I love the look of these silver atari cases but doesnt anyone else think the spine titles should be in red as opposed to white?
Not only would they stand out better on the shelf but im also pretty sure that the original retail spines were in red as well.

Red would be kind of an eyesore on the gray background. The spine text is white because these are based off of the international boxes Atari created for their 2600 games. The spine color they used was white so thats what i went with. They are very legible and easy to read when printed out.

Yeah white text looks better.

Yeah, I actually expressed the same concern earlier in this thread, but after printing them, I must say I am thoroughly pleased with how they look on a shelf. ;)

I absolutely want in on Project: Atari.
What do we need, anything not done yet in shenske's template?
I'm starting a list right now (feel free to pm me a want or have list).

Finally some more really oldschool cover love.
I also have a ton of INTV boxed games at home which I planned on making covers from for ages but the boxes are in an extremly bad shape and need much much work. I have so little little time.... *sigh*
-
Actually started making covers for some of my Atari games so everything would match when I put them on the shelves.

If you scroll up a bit, youll see I just recently put a Missle Command cover together lol.

I was just about to tell you that BadChad already did a Dig Dug cover when I noticed yours was for the 7800. It's nice, but is there a reason why the back is white when the rest of the cover is grey?

I am new here so I beg yr. pardon for, may be, silly question.
I see in this post some covers that are no on the official list to the left...why ?
If so..where to find other covers for the consoles part of this topic ?
Thanks in advance for yr. time and .. patience.
Best regards from Milano, Italy.

ops
forgot to say that GRUMBLEDUKE is GREAT !
UGC covers not easy to find and I think also a little bit too expensive but, with Paint, very easy to adapt the covers for the VHS cases whose lots can be still easily found new and for few bucks on Ebay or garage sales.
Wait for more Colecovision artworks.
I also see VECTREX work never started...may I hope one day one volunteer for that ?
Ciao

It's an alright system, I plan on getting mine modified for S-Video since I don't wanna change my original 2600 and it's backwards compatible with 2600 games so it works out. Once people start uploading RAWS for 7800 games, I as a few other people should start getting the 7800 done.

Crap! Thanks, I'll fix them all right now.
Edit #1: The links should all lead to the updated versions of each cover now... working on the Imandix previews...
Edit #2: Fixed all the Imandix previews as well. For anyone who may have downloaded the cover for Spider-Man, I noticed I accidentally missed filling in a grey line on the front of the cover. I've corrected it and re-uploaded an updated version. I also updated my template so I don't make this mistake again. :-\

Yeah you're right, fixing it right now

There you go, can't believe I missed that. I was pretty tired all yesterday though.

Now were talking! Thanks.
-
@BadChad No problem, thanks for pointing it out for me.
On a side note - not sure if anyone's interested, but I made two really crappy covers for the game "Venture" using the shenske's grey template and uploaded them to my box account. I'm not gonna upload them here from the fear of getting laughed at :P. If your standards are low and you just need the cover regardless of how odd the cover looks - there's TWO there for the taking!
EDIT: I just realized my link down below was broken this whole time. It's fixed now, you should be able to see any covers I've worked on in the link down below now.

Working on an Overlay template for Atari 5200 games since those seem to me the hardest things to find for these games.
Atari Style

Holy crap! Great idea and execution! Lookin' good
-
What are you planning to print the overlays onto. I could do with something similar for colecovision, and was thinking of using a laminator, but wasn't convinced the results would be usable. Would be interested in if you've managed to get something to work.
-

Figured on just using some thicker card stock.
-
In my research, it looks like only the following 5200 games actually came with overlays:
BLUE PRINT
CENTIPEDE
COUNTERMEASURE
DEFENDER
FOOTBALL
FROGGER
GALAXIAN
GORF
KABOOM!
MISSILE COMMAND
MOUNTAIN KING
PAC-MAN
QIX
REALSPORTS BASEBALL
REALSPORTS FOOTBALL
REALSPORTS SOCCER
REALSPORTS TENNIS
RIVER RAID
SOCCER
SPACE INVADERS
SPACE SHUTTLE
STAR RAIDERS
SUPER BREAKOUT
WIZARD OF WOR
The question is, would it be worth it to try and create overlays for games that did not come with overlays or really didn't need them.
-
Was playing around with Shenske's 2600 template and realized how off quality the covers we do have are. Here's my attempt.
Pac-Man (https://www.box.com/s/af57ca4d5449bf330f1e)

How's it look?
-
I think it looks pretty damn sweet. So would this hypothetically be the custom template for the 5200 from now on? I was getting read to do a bunch of 5200 covers...
-
Personally I like it, fits the 5200 real well. Question is do you line it up with the 2600 on the spine, or leave as is?
I think the 7800 may benefit from the same style as well. That or someone makes the current 7800 template as a template file rather than having to copy and paste over existing games.
-
Looks good. Only thing I noticed is the Atari logo is missing from the blue box on the spine like the 2600 template.
-

For some reason, that seemed redundant to me. If it was just the bars, that would be fine, but saying Atari twice seems over kill. But that's just me.

I did it because that's what Atari did on their international releases for the 2600

Ahh.. That makes sense. Of course I don't think the 5200 was released anywhere else but the US and Canada so I was going off of the retail packaging. But if I need to add it for consistency sake, that's fine.

Is it me or does the 5200 have much better box art, I mean actual "Space Invaders" on the box. The template looks nice, hopefully all 5200 covers will be uniform soon :)
-
It's a shame we didn't get the 5200 in the EU. Love the look of this template, and definitely would like to see it expanded for the. 7800.

I haven't finished tweaking them yet. For the 5200, I kinda want to do that one myself since there are only 67 games for it anyway. If you have any scans for 5200 boxes, I'll gladly take them.
Just picked up Star Raiders, Qix, Joust, Jungle Hunt, Kangaroo, Vanguard, and RealSports Baseball, Tennis and Soccer. So those are in the works.
And just to mess things up more, here are variations on the template to fully match the three retail formats Atari used.

Gotcha, you're doing a fantastic job on the 5200 games. And if I find someone with the boxes I'll have them scanned for RAWS. I thought there were 69, 5200 games, maybe I miscounted.
Also once the 5200 is done, I think the 7800 will benefit from the template you created, looks like we'll finally get most if not all the Atari games done :)

...... You could always make covers for these systems. Problem solved ;)

Not trying to offend but in my humble opinion among the less strong consoles of the 8 bit era those made by Atari lived in...

I vote for a ban.

Ban them all! ;D

I think if we'd ban everybody here that pisses us off, we'd all be banned. ;)

really I do not understand why some comments so aggressive. May be language barriers ? It was only a question from an italian fan of this site and a surprise for me to see Atari 2600 still active and well considered here and some other consoles ( always made in USA and same era ) completely forgotten. No else. If this yr. way to let me feel an intruder here...well, good result. A pity because I also collect other consoles but I will not post here the scan. Thanks again The Cover Project, yr. site a very good idea but not all yr. guests here seem welcome.

I think something got lost in translation - it was just a bit of a joke, and a little reminder not to post the same thing in multiple threads. You've been here long enough to know were a friendly bunch really.
We had the same approach to good old Arseen when he started too, as he had a habit of posting shit in EVERY thread. Now he's one of our most valuable members.
Don't be disheartened - instead of asking why nobody is posting covers in these threads - post some of your own scans, or even finished covers if you've got photoshop skills.
There are a few of us more.....mature members who also love the old systems - and i am willing to bet if there was some decent quality scans we'd gladly make covers out of them.
-
if so I beg yr. pardon
my english ok for business ( money an argument where cannot joke ).
My only problem is time. But remain my big surprise the silence surrounding these old US glories. ... :'(

I got the box for Sky Diver a few weeks ago and forgot to post scans. Can anyone attempt to make a cover for it in the gray format?

I got some intellivision scans uploaded to my mediafire account:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/28s69m1pb52vd/Intv
(https://www.mediafire.com/folder/28s69m1pb52vd/Intv)
Included are:
Beauty And The Beast (probably relatively useless since it's one of those shiny boxes)
Centipede
Checkers
Chess
Chip Shot
Commando
Defender
The Dreadnaught Factor
Motocross
Roulette
Royal Dealer
Slam Dunk Pro Basketball
Hope they can be of some use.

I made a few Atari 2600 covers a while back for games I had that were not on the site. I quickly looked through the posts here and I didn't see them:
Battlezone
Boxing
Cosmic Ark
Grand Prix
Moon Patrol
Mouse Trap
Sky Jinks
Snoopy and the Red Baron
Sorcerers Apprentice
Tennis
Video Chess
The covers can be found on my box account here:
https://app.box.com/s/9v272hfa28uvi0pntxh7 (https://app.box.com/s/9v272hfa28uvi0pntxh7)
I made them using shenske's template and scans from my manuals/box scans online

Probably not the right thread to ask that.

sorry, you are right
also true that intellivision/Colecovision/Vectrex and other old glories so forgot here that any attemptive shall be done.

Ffs. If you come here one more time complaining there are no new covers for old systems without offering any help yourself I will personally ban you. We hear the same story every few months. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I have explained the situation until I am blue in the face.
I single handedly made covers for almost every odysee 2 game, when people helped by providing scans.
Plenty of 2600 games have been done, as people provide scans.
No scans, no covers! After the amount of times you have whined about the lack of new stuff for old systems, you should know by now, nobody here has any raw material to scan. You want the covers, help us out by scanning, or asking for scans on other sites. We don't have them here!

[Hands sheep nice cup of cocoa]
There, there. 8)
But this is true
No scans, no covers!
And we need high quality raws:
600DPI (300 minimum).
Hyper flat
Straight
Moire free
