Title: CGC SNES covers and other questions?
Post by: Hoggs17 on July 16, 2022, 03:19:14 PM
Greetings everyone,

I've been working on CGC casing my NES games using the Shenske NES covers (chef's kiss btw) and I'm about ready to ditch the UGC and go CGC for my SNES / n64 games but unless I'm not seeing it - are there retail TCP cases for SNES/64 games around? I'm not seeing a consolidated place for these and not seeing them listed on the main forum page (http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cat_id=8) where you can simply search by console and then game. I've seen links where folks make a few covers for themselves but nothing really TCP "approved" or hosted in the main forum. Do these exist? How are folks handling SNES/N64 games in CGCs? Are you guys all making "custom" artwork? Also, I've noticed that the main Shenske NES CGC thread says the complete NES list is incomplete and I've read his other thread where folks are posting scanned images to help finish up the set - but where are these covers after they've been completed? I swear I'm searching the forums and not being lazy. Any help would be appreciated. Keep up the great work!

P.S. - As I'm switching from UGC to CGC, I will have a lot of UGC left over (with art printed on matte paper). About 100 cut for NES (dremel used to remove the pieces inside) and maybe 70 uncut. I'd like them to go to a forum member and prefer to deal locally (pickup). So if anyone is in Las Vegas (or wants to drive here) and wants to get some UGC + artwork for cheap, let me know. I'd prefer not to ship.

I don't think we ever did such list as NES has for SNES or N64.
Main reason being that noONE person started churning those cover at the pace shenske did, nor has the community at large either.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply. Let me know how i can help. I am definitely not an expert cover creator like you guys. I messed around previously with custom inlays but that was it, and i gave that up and just started printing the awesome covers that Shenske has made so i was hoping someone had done the same thing w/ SNES/64.

One thing is making alphabetised list like the CGC - NES Covers - Shenske is, and then linking all covers found there.
That might kick others in to gear to convert UGC covers into CGC covers which for custom cases with black spine is easy as long as the source UGC cover is flawless as one just needs to widen the spine by 5mm.

That can be done by anyone who basically knows how to copy/paste.

I would be happy to try and take up the task of alphabetizing an SNES list and linking to the CGC covers created. Only thing is, not sure where these covers are, unless you are suggesting an alphabetized listing to the UGC covers found on the main page in hopes that folks would in turn just download from here and convert and re-upload?. I would be down with taking a stab at widening the UGC flawless spine by 5 mm, but since all of the current UGC covers that you can download are jpegs (i believe), i'm not sure not exactly sure how i'd do that. are there any instructions somewhere that explain how to do this? If that's "all it takes," i'd volunteer to do this (or at least be part of a group of folks doing it).

I mean the tedious task of first creating alphabet list of all games (can be copied from master lists of SNES Vertical and N64 in the members only section) and then going thru all or at least most obvious topics on the boards tracking down as many CGC covers as possible and linking found CGC covers in that newly created topic to see what we have.
All CGC covers on the site permanently should naturally be linked as well.

Ideal thing would be to first download all said covers, back-up store them on your HDD/SSD, upload them to your Mediafire or Box or such (or create new account in them) and then do the linking.

Huge task I know. :o
