Title: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance Custom Game Case Covers
Post by: rockabilly1983 on January 06, 2021, 01:17:41 AM
Hi, everyone! Your portable cover master has returned! I would like to welcome all of you to this new Game Boy covers forum thread. I will no longer be posting my Game Boy covers in the 3DS Cases for Handheld Carts forum thread. I am making some changes to my new Game Boy covers. Here is what I will be doing:

First off, I will not be making Game Boy covers sized for 3DS cases anymore. All of my Game Boy covers will be sized for Shadowfox's Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance Custom Game Case. The covers will not have a back side bar either. Game Boy covers with a back side bar doesn't look right to me. My covers will be a little larger. The Cover Project's official Nintendo DS case template is 3260 pixels wide and 1370 pixels high. The spine is 190 pixels wide. I did an experiment by enlarging one of my old Game Boy covers by 1% and I noticed that it had a more full fit. I printed a sample template in two different sizes to see how the cover would fit in the case. At first, the cover was too wide at 3293 pixels. The cover bunched up. The height was 1384 pixels. After that, I printed another sample cover at 3290 pixels wide and 1386 pixels high. I also changed the width of the spine from 190 pixels to 180 pixels. The cover fit like a glove. I pulled out an original Nintendo DS cover and lined it up with the sample printout. I discovered that my template is just a hairline bigger than an original Nintendo DS cover. Now when you cut out the cover, it will be the same size as an original Nintendo DS cover. I used the front side bars from larryinc64's template and resized them for my own template. The side bars in my template are not as wide. I cut down the width of the side bars instead of shrinking them. The side bars are sized to what they would be if you took a raw scan and changed it to my dimensions. The Game Boy logos are constrained. This way, they are not stretched. My template has chrome and black spine bars for all three Game Boy covers too. You can find my template in the Templates folder.

Now that I have covered the template, here are some other things I'm going to do. The new Game Boy covers are going to be even better. The covers are going to be made in full retail and TCP retail, just like the NES and Super Nintendo covers. The main site has no full retail Game Boy covers that I know of. The Cover Project could really use those covers. If you're looking for my Game Boy covers sized for the 3DS case or the DS case, they are gone. I deleted all of my Game Boy covers because I'm starting all over again. Don't worry, almost all of my old Game Boy covers are on the main site. My new Game Boy covers will be in the Custom Game Case Covers folder.

Were you expecting to see a Game Boy cover? Well, today's your lucky day! Here is Batman; my first Game Boy cover! Hey... I'm having déjà vu here. Remember when I made my first NES cover back in January 2017? The cover was for Batman. Four years later, I made the cover for the Game Boy version of Batman. How do you like that? I'm very excited about making Game Boy covers again. What a great way to start 2021! Happy gaming!

Hello and welcome, everyone! I'm back with two more covers for the original Game Boy. Here is 4-in-1 Fun Pak and 4-in-1 Fun Pak Volume II. These were much easier to make than Batman. I was surprised with how fast I made these covers. This brings back memories of when I started making covers in 2013. It all started with the Game Boy. Here are a few mistakes I fixed on 4-in-1 Fun Pak Volume II:

"Game Boy" and "Game Link" are now spelled as two words. The original box had them spelled as one word.
"Fun Pak" is now spelled as two words on the legal text. It was spelled as one word on the original box.
"Blockhead" was originally spelled with a dash. It isn't spelled with a dash. I removed the dash.

I didn't fix these mistakes when I first made 4-in-1 Fun Pak Volume II. When I first made 4-in-1 Fun Pak, I didn't recreate the background gradient. I didn't even bother to retype the board game titles on the front. With all the things I didn't do, I wasn't satisfied with how the covers first looked. I guess you could say I was a slacker. Back then, I didn't even know how to do as many things in Photoshop. Now these two covers are better, more color accurate, and sharper. Not to mention, more retail accurate. The two Interplay logos have been traced into vectors. They are also available in my Vector Logos folder for anyone who needs them. I did some reorganizing of my vectors by moving certain vector files into separate folders. This will make it much easier to find which vector logos you want to use. More Game Boy covers are on the way. Happy gaming!

Hey, all you gamers out there! I have another Game Boy cover for you in two versions! It's Tetris 2. Who doesn't like a good game of Tetris? I didn't know there were two versions of Tetris 2 until I looked on eBay. Knowing which version you have of Tetris 2 is easy. Here is how to tell which version you have:

If your cartridge has the Official Game Link Game Pak logo, you have Version 1.
If your cartridge has the Super Game Boy Game Pak logo, you have Version 2.

Game Boy games with the Super Game Boy Game Pak logo give you unique color designs and a special border when you play them on the Super Game Boy. Version 2 of Tetris 2 has the unique color design, but, there is no special border. That disappointed me. Even worse, the cutscenes that appear every 10 levels were removed. Why did they remove the cutscenes in Version 2? They couldn't colorize them? This is a mystery I will never solve. If you need to buy the instruction manual for your copy of Tetris 2, check the cover of the manual. There is a unique code in the upper-right corner. Here are the different codes:

If the code is "DMG-EH-USA", it's for Version 1.
If the code is "DMG-EH-USA-1", it's for Version 2. Version 2 also came with a Super Game Boy instruction insert.

Now that I have covered the important information for both versions, I'm going to talk a little bit about what I did. The hardest logo to trace into a vector was the Super Game Boy Game Pak logo. I had to play around with the two gradients. I also had to rotate the image so I could make the straight solid bars. "Gameplay" was originally spelled as two words on Version 2. I removed the space so it's correctly spelled as one word now. That's a common mistake I need to keep my eyes peeled for. I have seen it on many Game Boy covers, but I never fixed them in the past. Another hard part was recreating the gradients on the Tetris 2 logo. The last thing I fixed was "Line-up" on Version 1 by removing the dash. "Line-up" and "lineup" are nouns. "Line up" is a verb. The cover talks about lining up the blocks. We don't use a dash on those two words when we talk about lining something up. Only Version 2 got the spelling right. There was no dash to remove on Version 2. I'm so excited to be sharing these covers with everyone. Head on down and get the cover you need. Be sure to check back often. I will have another cover up soon. Happy gaming!

They look great! How are you keeping them from being stretched without the banners/ larger banners?

Thank you, marioxb! I don't use any banners on my Game Boy covers. I'm not keeping the covers from being stretched. The front and back are stretched a little bit, while the spine is squished. That's the downside to making a cover for a case that is wider, shorter, and slimmer than the original box. The only thing I didn't stretch are the Game Boy logos on the front side bar and the spine bar. I stretched the front side bars 16 pixels vertically. I also cut down the side bars horizontally to match how wide the side bar would be if you cropped the front of a Game Boy box scan and changed the pixels to 1555 pixels wide and 1386 pixels high. I was never a fan of the very wide side bars. Making my own template took a lot of time and thought.

Hello again, everybody! I have a real treat for all of you today. I have one cover and three posters. The posters are cool pieces of history. I started drooling and wanted to do them. The Cover Project needs more Game Boy posters. I didn't have to scan the posters in four parts and stitch them together because they are small. Even though the posters are small, they will still look nice in your game room; even on your refrigerator. Nintendo really knew how to advertise their games back then. They put in so much creativity. Even their old TV commercials are memorable. They hold a special place in my heart. Today's video game commercials are bland. They have little to no creativity. The cover is for Golf. I traced the Golf logo into a vector. I never did that the first time I made the cover. I corrected "sand traps" by spelling it as two words. The original box had it spelled as one word. I did this same correction when I first made the cover back in September 2015. I traced the Official Game Boy Video Link Game Pak logo into a vector. It's also available in my vector logos folder. The first promo poster came with Golf. It had "interstellar" misspelled. It was missing the "t" between "s" and "e". I fixed the spelling. The other two posters came with Tetris 2 (Version 1). Head on down and get the cover and posters. They may help you relive your childhood. Happy gaming!

What's up, everybody? Here is my first Game Boy Color cover. It's Jim Henson's Muppets. This was requested by prkid93. I decided to buy this game when I saw his request on the main page. I can't tell you how good I feel knowing that I helped someone case up a loose game in their collection. That's what makes this website so great. I have been making covers since 2013. This cover was pretty challenging. It took me four days to restore it. "Gameplay" is now correctly spelled as one word under the bottom screenshot on the back. That's the only mistake I found and corrected. Who is your favorite muppet? My favorite is Miss Piggy. I couldn't stop smiling the first time I saw her in The Muppet Movie. I was 6 years old when I first saw that movie. Miss Piggy is so sweet and loving. The romance between her and Kermit warms my heart. There is a part in The Muppet Movie that cracks me up. When Dr. Bunsen Honeydew is done setting up the sound, Animal goes over to the microphone, looks at it, and says "testing" into the microphone. He says it so loud that it makes Dr. Bunsen Hondeydew's headphones shake and smoke. Ha ha ha! More covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Hello again, fellow gamers and collectors! Here is another Game Boy cover in two versions again. I bring you The Chessmaster. I discovered by accident that two versions of The Chessmaster exist for Game Boy. Can you believe this? I made the Super Nintendo cover of The Chessmaster in two versions back in October and November 2020. Now, three months later, I made the Game Boy cover of The Chessmaster in two versions as well. So many versions of The Chessmaster were released for so many computers, consoles, and handheld systems. Want to know which version you may have of The Chessmaster for Game Boy? Here's some information to help you:

If your cartridge label has the Hi Tech Expressions logo, you have Version 1.
If your cartridge label has the Mindscape Entertertainment logo, you have Version 2.

Do you know which version of the instruction manual to buy for your copy of The Chessmaster? Check the code in the upper-right corner on the front. Here are the codes:

DMG-EM-USA-1 is for Version 1. The back of the instruction manual has the Hi Tech Expressions logo.
DMG-EM-USA-2 is for Version 2. The back of the instruction manual has the Mindscape Entertainment logo.

The Chessmaster logo was easy to recreate. It uses an actual font and three solid bars. The font used on the logo is Shango Regular. The hardest part was recreating the outer glow. I had to play around with the controls. The outer glow is not exact, but very close to the original. I find it intersting that Hi Tech Expressions first published The Chessmaster. Later on, Mindscape Entertainment published it. This is the first time I see a game published by one company and then published by another company.

Did you notice the two different trademark symbols on the side bar? Version 1 has TM and Version 2 has ®. Want to know what these trademark symbols mean? I'll be more than happy to explain. If a company or individual wants to trademark a new game title, movie title, name, or even a logo, they can only use the TM symbol. TM means the trademark is not registered. The circular trademark symbol ® means the trademark is registered with the Patent and Trademark Office. It takes many days and a lot of money to get a trademark registered. When Nintendo released the Game Boy in 1989, the name "Game Boy" wasn't registered with the Patent and Trademark Office yet. That's why you see TM next to the Game Boy logo on the early Game Boy games. After "Game Boy" was registered, Nintendo owned the trademark and could now use the circular trademark symbol next to the Game Boy logo on the side bar. Pretty cool, huh? I have more covers on the way. Happy gaming!

Hi, everybody! I'm back with three covers and four posters. It's the Toy Story trilogy. All three Toy Story covers have been remade for my new Game Boy template. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 came with posters. The other side of the posters had a "Get the Hottest Games Now" promo. I never scanned the promo posters when I first made the covers and posters back in December 2018. I wondered how I missed them. This was one big project and it took me almost a month to do all this. "Gameplay" is now correctly spelled as one word on all three covers. Version 1 of the Get the Hottest Games Now promo poster took the most work. I had to crop, resize, and put a solid border around every game cover. The title was also traced into a vector. Sorry, it took me so long to get more new Game Boy covers made. Making covers is something you can't rush. I take lots of time to make sure everything looks right. It's worth the wait. This is my biggest Game Boy covers post yet. I feel so good knowing that the Toy Story covers and posters have been knocked out. I will have some more covers up soon. Until the next time, take care!

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more Game Boy Color covers. Anyone up for a game of Frogger? There are two Frogger games on the Game Boy Color. The covers are now here for everyone. Frogger was pretty easy to restore. Frogger 2 took a little more work. Frogger 2 had two different sized screenshots on the back. I found that strange. I made the bottom screenshot the same size as the top screenshot with some simple cropping and editing. Both boxes had no spelling or grammar mistakes on the information text. "Gameplay" has been correctly spelled as one word on both covers. The main site doesn't have these covers and can really use them. Last week, I heard that Snowcone is working on making uploads available again. I'm looking forward to it. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Enjoy the two Frogger covers! Take care and stay safe, fellow gamers!

What's up, everybody? Wow! I've been gone for so long working on another big Game Boy project. Did you enjoy Tetris 2, but want more Tetris action? You got it! Here are 4 Tetris covers: Tetris, Tetris Plus, and Tetris Worlds in two versions. Yay! I made my first two Game Boy Advance covers with my new template! Tetris Worlds is pretty interesting. Version 1 has some kind of scenic artwork and Version 2 has artwork that consists of blocks. Did we really need two versions of Tetris Worlds for the Game Boy Advance? I played both of them. Both versions are the same game. For so long, I had been wanting to make the cover for the original Tetris. The site needs the real retail Tetris cover. A complete in box copy of Tetris for Game Boy goes for a lot of money. The first time I made this cover, I didn't make it from scratch. You see, I downloaded pumanchero's custom Game Boy Tetris cover, cropped the front, spine, and back, and resized them for larryinc64's template. This was back in 2014 when I was so new at making covers. The old cover is on the main site and it has a drop shadow on the front side bar. The side bar on the real retail box doesn't have a drop shadow. I don't feel right taking other peoples' covers and claiming them as my own. That's just wrong. In order for me to make a cover, I have to start from scratch by scanning the original boxes. These covers took so much work. As a special added bonus, both versions of Tetris Worlds came with double-sided posters. I restored all 4 posters and they are here too. Lots of good stuff for The Cover Project.

Something exciting is coming soon to The Cover Project. Snowcone is working on a new uploading process. I followed a link he provided in a forum thread to test the uploading process. I tried uploading the full retail as well as the TCP retail cover of Batman and it worked. Many of you have probably seen them on the home page. Unfortunately, you can't download my Batman cover on the main site. The download link is not working. You can still download the cover from my Box account. Snowcone is still working out the kinks. Snowcone might be putting in a voting system in a queue for uploaded covers awaiting approval for the main site. Special badges may also be put on uploaded covers based on votes. I'm especially excited about reviewing and approving covers for the main site; not just my own. I have been wanting to do this since I got promoted to Cover Admin back in September 2019. Once the new uploading process is complete, I'm really going to update this site. Now, go get those new covers and posters. It's a long way down! Until the next time, take care!

Did you ever see this version of Tetris Plus (plus a bunch of my other Nintendo system scans I made way back when)? Anyway, the version of Tetris Plus I scanned has a "New Release" sticker on the front. Not sure if that actually counts as a separate version, but feel free to use the scan to make a version 2 if you like.

Yes, I have seen copies of Tetris Plus with the "New Release" sticker. It doesn't count as a separate version. If the box had the Player's Choice Million Seller ribbon and the gold Game Boy logo on the side bar, then it would count as a separate version. Why did this game have a "New Release" sticker on the box instead of on the shrinkwrap? That was a stupid idea. I had to look high and low for a full, clean version of Tetris Plus. Covering up some of the artwork with a permanent sticker is an eyesore. I forgot to talk about this in my previous post. I didn't know you made covers. I took a look at some of them for the first time and they look pretty good. Thank you for the link.

Yeah, no problem. Yeah, those new release stickers right on the actual cardboard are sooo dumb! I make covers occasionally. I need to get a new scanner, as the one I had broke. Looking back at some of my scans, parts are blurry when zoomed in, maybe from not being flat enough? That thread was from when I scanned all my old boxes I had up in my parents attic before I sold them on ebay.

I agree. The only other Game Boy game I know of that has the "New Release" sticker is James Bond 007. New games don't stay new forever. Keep up the good work on your covers. You need a new scanner? I highly recommend the Canon Pixma TR7520 inkjet printer. That's what I have. The scanner can scan up to 1,200 dots per inch and the colors, from what I have seen, are the most accurate. The printer prints covers really well too. If you use semi-gloss paper, it will give you that official look. Canon makes the best!

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more Game Boy Advance covers. It's the LEGO Star Wars trilogy. You can kick some brick in these two LEGO games. I didn't remember how hard and challenging it is to restore Game Boy Advance covers. They tend to have many company logos on the back. Many Game Boy Advance covers also have artwork instead of solid color on the back. Removing the scanned text and redrawing the artwork takes a lot of time and patience. I didn't find any spelling or grammar mistakes on these covers. Every time I finish a cover, I can't help but feel good. These covers are like a car wreck. I can't stop looking at them. Ha ha ha ha! More covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Hello, everyone! I'm back once again with two more Game Boy Color covers. I bring you the Harry Potter games. These covers were tough. I had to do some serious tracing of each letter used for the information text. The font used for the information text couldn't be identified in the MyFonts.com forum WhatTheFont. I wondered if it is some secret font that doesn't exist. A few people here have requested these covers and they're now available for everybody. How do you like that? I knocked out two more requests. I'm so happy to see new covers on the main site. All of my current Game Boy covers will be on the main site someday. Snowcone is still working out some kinks.

Here's a little update on me: I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday April 30, 2021. I got the second dose on Friday May 21, 2021. My mom came in with me on those two days to get her vaccine too. After we got our shot, we had to wait 15 minutes before we could leave. We had no reactions and we felt fine. When I got my first dose, my left arm started feeling kind of cold. It was probably my imagination. The second dose will go into full effect on Friday June 4, 2021. I'm so thankful we got our vaccines.

I have some bad news. I can no longer generate preview images of my covers for the forums. MediaFire has removed the Direct Link option. I wasn't aware of this until I read this forum: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=29483.0 Why did MediaFire do this? What were they thinking? They must have said, "Hey! Let's complicate this. Let's make it a big pain in the butt." This makes me really angry. Are preview images obsolete now? *Phew* I gotta calm down now. Sorry, everybody. I had to get this off my chest. Looks like every new cover post I make is going to be text only. Unless someone knows how to work around this, please let me know and I will update this forum post. Thank you.

Go ahead and enjoy the two Harry Potter covers. Did you know? Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was the last Game Boy Color game released in the USA.

Update: 5/31/2021
I read the forum thread I linked here again and I figured out how to put in preview images. I can't tell you how stoked I am! I can sleep better now that I know what to do. I'm going to explain what you will need to do. I will use my image of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as an example:

When you click on the options for your file in MediaFire, click on Share. This is the link you will be given next to Copy Link:
https://www.mediafire.com/view/ix6vrucaw0z6pj9/GBC_Harry_Potter_and_the_Sorcerer%2527s_Stone_%2528USA%2529_CGC.png/file

You can click on this link and see the image, as well as download it, but we don't want that. We want a preview image within the forum thread. To make a preview image, you will need to edit the link source. I looked at Arseen's example and I tried to make these instructions as simple as possible. I even looked at my previous posts to check the link source. Here is what you will need to do:

After you pasted your link, delete the file name from the link. This is what you need to get started:
https://www.mediafire.com/view/ix6vrucaw0z6pj9

Next, change "view" to "convkey". Add another forward slash with "2db5". At the end of the image source, add "6g.jpg". This is what the link should now look like:
https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/2db5/ix6vrucaw0z6pj96g.jpg

Last, but not least, put the link in between the "img" "/img" brackets. Voila! Now you have a preview image in the forum! Yay! If you have any questions, please let me know.

I can't believe it has been half a year since I posted a Game Boy cover. It's so nice to be back! Your portable cover master is here with a brand new Game Boy Advance cover and two posters as a bonus. The new cover is Atlantis: The Lost Empire. This game came with a poster that had Atlantis: The Lost Empire artwork on one side and the other side had Monsters, Inc. artwork. So many covers have been getting uploaded and approved for the main site since cover uploads went live. The Cover Project is more lively with all the new covers I see people making. It's so great to have a lot of contributors. Besides making covers, I have been adding game titles to the different sections when people post title requests. I figured out how to fix a lot of game titles that weren't correct on the main site too. It's so great to be a cover admin. Not only do I get to upload and approve my own covers, but also review and approve other peoples' covers too. There is just one problem. Covers with very long game titles are getting part of the link cut off when people upload them for approval. The preview image in the admin section shows a broken image icon for long game titles and results in a 404 error. I hope Snowcone can solve this problem.

I didn't remember how easy it is to make Game Boy covers. The boxes are small and don't take as much time to restore. Making NES or Super Nintendo covers take much more time because the boxes are bigger and they have more artwork to clean. I didn't think I would get the cover and two posters done the day before Thanksgiving. I will tell you what I'm thankful for. I'm thankful for my family, home, job, and health. I will have some more Game Boy covers up soon. Happy Thanksgiving!

Merry Christmas, fellow gamers! I'm spreading some Christmas cheer for everyone by making more Game Boy Advance covers. Here are three Christmas-themed Game Boy Advance covers to get you into the Christmas spirit. The covers are: Elf: The Movie, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, and Elf Bowling 1 & 2. These covers took a lot of work. I originally made the cover for Elf: The Movie three years ago. Elf: The Movie has been remade with my bigger Game Boy Custom Game Case template. I watched Elf for the first time two years ago. It is a great and funny Christmas movie. Will Ferrell does a great job playing Buddy the elf. Elf became my new favorite Christmas movie. The other Christmas movies I like are Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Christmas Vacation. I also enjoy watching the animated Christmas TV specials every year. These are my favorite Christmas TV specials: A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Garfield Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Frosty Returns, Mickey's Christmas Carol, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. When I watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas, I laugh every time the Grinch smiles. He is so funny! I have also seen the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas movie. I think Jim Carrey did a great job playing the Grinch. That movie came out in 2000 when I was in high school. I went and saw it at the theater with my girlfriend at the time. Her name was Victoria. She was also my date for the junior prom in 2001. We were together for a little over a year. I don't remember what it's like to have a girlfriend. I have been single for 20 years and I don't regret it. I don't use online dating sites or social media. Those things are pointless and a waste of time. I'd rather focus on my hobbies. Making video game covers, riding my bicycle, collecting coins, and attending annual events make me happy. I don't need much to be happy.

Looks like this year's Christmas is going to be better. I'm very happy I will be spending time with my family instead of being alone with my mom. Last year's Christmas was the worst Christmas I ever experienced. I was feeling so lonely that I cried a little on Christmas Eve. Not being able to see or have my family over on Christmas Day is depressing. I got my Pfizer booster shot and flu shot on Monday December 6, 2021 together with my mom. Make yourself some hot cocoa or tea and enjoy casing up these three Christmas video games. Before I go, I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hello, everyone! Your portable cover master is back with some more new covers and posters. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here are my first two covers as well as first two posters for 2022! What a great way to start the new year! The new cover is The Cheetah Girls. The brand new copy I bought of The Cheetah Girls contained two different regional covers: United States and Canada. What made it unique was the Canadian slip cover that slid over the USA box. The game also came with two posters. One side has artwork and photos of The Cheetah Girls. The other side has a Disney on the Go promo poster. It's so nice to see many other contributors making covers. I have some good news. Snowcone fixed the long game title problem. If you upload a cover with a long title, it doesn't show a broken image icon in the Admin section anymore. I got my Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color covers with long titles on the main site and they are available for everyone to download. Yay!

This is the 2nd Canadian Game Boy Advance cover I have ever made. The first Canadian Game Boy Advance cover I did was LEGO Star Wars. That was back in July 2015 when I had to stay home to heal from my bicycle accident. Enjoy the two different covers of The Cheetah Girls and the posters that came with it. I will have another cover up soon. Happy gaming!

Hello and welcome, everyone! I'm back with another cover for your collections. Up next is Dinotopia: The Timestone Pirates. I originally made this cover back in April 2019. The cover has been remade with my larger Game Boy Custom Game Case template. It's also more retail accurate and available in full retail for the first time. There are a couple errors I fixed on this cover:

"Gameplay" is now correctly spelled as one word. The original box had it spelled as two words.
The last four numbers on the zip code have been changed from 3126 to 3178. I checked the address by entering it on USPS.com. I never did this when I first made this cover.

I'm very happy that this cover is all done. It has been kind of hard to work on covers lately due to returning to the office. I now work a full day at the office every Tuesday and Thursday. I had to work extra days at the office due to my co-workers requesting some time off for vacation. Don't worry, I will continue to make covers for many more years to come. I feel something good is going to happen later in 2022. There aren't as many coronavirus infections. Infection rates are going down a lot. I'm going to Cancún, Mexico for the first time in early August 2022. My brother booked tickets for him, his girlfriend, my two nephews, my mom, and me. I'm looking forward to my first trip to Mexico. Every time I travel to a foreign country, I try to collect one of each of the country's coins and banknotes. Not only can I use those next time I go, but it reminds me of my trip there. Hope all of you are doing well and keeping yourselves healthy and entertained. I will have some more covers up soon. Happy gaming!

Hey, guys! It's been a long time. I'm sure many of you have been wondering when I was going to make more Game Boy covers. I have 4 new Game Boy Color covers. It's the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater trilogy. There are only three Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games for Game Boy Color. I found out by accident that two versions of the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater exist. There are two minor differences.

Version 1 has a TM on the Everyone rating and the disclaimer text, "Not Compatible With Other Game Boy Systems!" is white.
Version 2 has a ® on the Everyone rating and the disclaimer text, "Not Compatible With Other Game Boy Systems!" is black.

I don't understand why Nintendo changed the disclaimer text on the back from white to black when they rereleased Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. When I first made these covers three years ago, I noticed that I made Version 2. Larryinc64's 3DS case size cover is Version 1. I'm so glad I spotted that. I checked lots of cartridge only copies of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater on eBay to see if the Everyone rating has the round ® trademark symbol. I couldn't find any copies that had that. If you're casing up your copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, it doesn't matter which cover you use.

I have something exciting to tell everyone! Shadowfox has released his new double wide Game Boy Custom Game Case. It's called a Rumble Pak case. These deeper cases have a taller mold to hold the special Game Boy Color cartridges that vibrate. The new case also holds the Game Boy Camera. I was drooling when I got an email from Shadowfox on Sunday March 13, 2022. The cases look good from what I saw in the pictures. As soon as I can get my hands on a blank case, I'm going to make my own Game Boy Color Rumble Pak Custom Game Case template. Since this new case has been released, it would be great if Snowcone could add "Game Boy Color Rumble Pak Custom Game Case" to the list of different case options.

It took me almost a month to do all four of these Tony Hawk's Pro Skater covers. These 1,200 dpi Canon scanned covers are a huge improvement over the 600 dpi Lexmark scanned covers I made three years ago. The covers are more retail accurate, the colors are more accurate, and the detail is sharper. Best of all, these covers are now available in full retail for the first time. I'm very passionate about this. More covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Hello again, everyone! Where did the time go? I can't believe it has been a little over a month since I posted covers. Here are two brand new Game Boy Color covers for everyone. I bring you Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six. These covers were hard to do. The boxes had so much surface wear. I had to rigorously clean them. The logo was also very challenging to redraw into a vector. I'm very happy to finally be posting these. Some people have been requesting them. These are two covers the site doesn't have. With working at the office more often, I don't get as much time to work on covers. It's okay because it gives me an excuse to ride my bicycle more often. Exercise is very important. It's good for your circulation and your metabolism.

While working on these covers, I have also been helping out other people by adding titles to the database. So far, I have added over 300 titles. I double-check every title by searching them on Google and eBay. It's very important that I get the titles right. Please enjoy the two Spider-Man covers. I will have some more covers up soon. Happy gaming!

Hey, guys! Did you miss me? I missed all of you. I'm back with another remake. Here is Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day! for Game Boy Color. This is the hardest Game Boy Color cover I worked on. It's now in full retail for the first time. I manually traced all the black lines and put in solid colors on the front. I also made a better, higher quality vector of the Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day! logo and the artwork of Arthur inside the checkerboard circle. This brought back memories of when I worked on my first Simpsons NES cover The Simpsons: Bart vs. The World back in July 2019. That cover took me a little over a month to do. It took me almost a month to make the Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day! cover. The fonts used for the headliner text and the information text couldn't be identified on MyFonts.com's subsection WhatTheFont. I couldn't retype the text. Did that stop me from restoring this cover? Nope! Instead, this is what I had to do. I had to trace every uppercase and lowercase letter, number, and symbol I could find in the instruction booklet. After that, I used Vector Magic to make them into vectors. That took me a little over two weeks to do. The vector letters, numbers, and symbols of both fonts are available in my Vector Logos folder. You'll find them in the Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day! Vector Letters folder. However, I don't have every single uppercase letter, lowercase letter, or symbol in vector format of both fonts. If anyone knows of another Game Boy Color cover that uses these two fonts, please let me know.

Anyway, let's get back to the cover. When I was getting every letter, number and symbol in the size I need for the headliner and information text, I felt like Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune putting in all of one letter and then moving on to the next letter. Ha ha ha! I did the same thing when I traced the letters on the back of the Who Framed Roger Rabbit NES cover into vectors. Tracing each letter took me a few minutes. When I first made Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day! back in January 2019, I didn't trace the letters into vectors. I only used the paint bucket tool to fill in the background. I was determined to make this cover look better. Here are a couple errors I fixed:

"Gameplay" is now correctly spelled as one word. I didn't fix this error the first time I made this cover.
"Especially" on the fifth bullet has been changed to "Specially". Now the sentence correctly says, "Specially designed for kids 4-7". The original box had the wrong adverb.

That covers everything I did for this cover. Last Friday, I cycled from Sacramento to Lodi to attend the annual pinball event Golden State Pinball Festival. It was a fun and adventurous ride going all the way to Lodi. It was 33 1/2 miles one way. It took me 2 hours and 10 minutes to get there. It brought back memories. The last time they had this event was in 2019. It was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. I'm so stoked and happy this event came back. However, I felt a little disappointed. There weren't as many pinball machines at this year's event. I did have fun, though. There were so many machines I didn't see and it didn't feel complete. Well, there is the other pinball event called Pin-A-Go-Go in Dixon. It's going to be in October and I will be going to that one. The next annual event I go to is California Extreme. I won't be attending California Extreme this year because it's on the last weekend in July. Monday, August 1, 2022 is my trip to Cancun, Mexico. Our plane leaves at 6:10 AM and I have to get up at 3:00 AM. I'm looking forward to my first trip to Mexico. It will be a five day vacation.

I'm going to try hard to get more covers made. Happy gaming!

What's up, everybody? Look how long it has been since I made a Game Boy cover. Time flies when you're having fun. No remakes here. I have two brand new Game Boy Advance covers. The covers are Snood and Snood 2: On Vacation. I didn't expect these two covers to be so hard. That happens sometimes. I like a challenge. These Snood covers were challenging. The font used for the information text on Snood 2: On Vacation is called Poor Richard. What a funny name for a font! I attended my two nephews' graduations this month. My older nephew graduated from high school on Friday, June 3 and my youngest nephew graduated from middle school on Thursday, June 16. I can't believe that my older nephew is almost an adult. He'll be turning 18 on August 5 while we are in Cancun, Mexico. I can't wait! I'm looking forward to my first trip to Mexico.

Please enjoy the two Snood covers! More Game Boy covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Hello again, fellow gamers! I'm back with another brand new cover for your collections. Surprised? I thought you'd be. The new cover is Tringo for Game Boy Advance. I had to do some serious restoration work on this cover. The hardest part was copying and pasting multiple squares for the background on the back. I had to apply a bevel and emboss on each square to make each one look like a tile. I had to play around with the controls until I got the black and white shades right. Once I had every square put into place, the background looked so sharp and crisp. I found two words that were misspelled and fixed them. "Multiplayer" and "separately" were spelled wrong. "Multiplayer" had a "t" between "u" and "l" on the box. "Separately" had an "e" instead of an "a" between "p" and "r". Did Nintendo not have someone to proofread this box before they released this game? It blows my mind. I didn't mention this in my previous post, but I should tell you. "Separately" was also misspelled on Snood. I fixed that spelling mistake on that cover too. These are the first two Game Boy Advance games I have seen where they misspelled "separately" on the box. It's so great being able to fix spelling and grammar mistakes on these covers.

I haven't been able to upload my two Snood covers to the main site because the Upload a Cover function isn't working. I hope Snowcone will fix it soon. It has been down for a week and a half as I type this. For now, you will have to download my newest covers from my Box account. This feels like old times. I have noticed that the site has been getting spammed to high heaven. I'm sure some of you wanted to ask me, "Rockabilly1983, what does the scouter say about the spam level?" Good question... IT'S OVER 9,000!!!!!!!

Ha ha ha ha! I always wanted to do that. Enjoy the Tringo cover. I will be back with more covers. Happy gaming!

What's happening, everybody? Thank you so much for waiting. I have two brand new Game Boy Color covers the site doesn't have. The covers are Catz and Dogz. These are two early virtual pet video games. The artwork is cool. The games themselves are boring. There isn't much to do in these games. I didn't think these two covers would take so much work. I had to trace the background symbols on Catz and Dogz, including the game title. The background and background symbols have a gradient. Those were very challenging to recreate. Another thing that was challenging was recreating the little shadows on the front. Duplicating the background symbols into multiple layers was very tedious. I had to make doubly sure I didn't miss any background symbols. It got kind of annoying to find the background symbols at the top of the box art due to the top being white. Once the symbols were all put in, I felt like I accomplished so much. "Gameplay" has been correctly spelled as one word on the back. That's a common mistake I fix on the Game Boy covers.

My trip to Cancun, Mexico is next Monday, August 1, 2022. I'm so excited! I have been looking forward to my first trip to Mexico for so long. I'm going to see if I can finish another cover before the day of my trip. There are going to be so many things to do at the resort we are going to be staying at. That's what my brother told me.

Snowcone is working hard to fix the Upload a Cover option on the home page. People still can't upload covers to the main site, including me. While we wait for Snowcone to fix the problem, follow the links below to get my latest Game Boy Color covers. Happy gaming!

Hello, everybody! I'm back with two more covers. Before I get to them, I'm going to tell you about my trip to Cancun, Mexico.

We stayed at Finest Playa Mujeras. It's an all-inclusive resort and it's beautiful! You can eat and drink anything you want all day and it's free. All you need to do is leave a tip. I recommend tipping 50 pesos. That's approximately $2.67. The Mexican Peso is a cool currency. It's so colorful and the United States dollar pales in comparison. When we got back home, I went one weekend to my bank to exchange $80 for 1,500 pesos. I think the exchange rate dropped that weekend. I asked for two large bills so I could make a full set. I love collecting foreign currency. I even got some of the large coins as change to add to my set of Mexican pesos while we were in Cancun. The beach is so beautiful! I haven't been on a beach in years. The sand in Mexico is even finer than the sand in Italy. Going in the water brought back so many memories of my childhood. Every day, they stock the refrigerator in your room with soda, water, beer, wine, candy, and cookies. You can have anything you want from your refrigerator. Besides the beach, they have a lot of pools too. Our rooms had a little pool in front of the sliding door. The hotel rooms had a distinctive smell that reminded me of the hotel rooms in Italy. On Wednesday, August 3, we went to Puerto Morelos and did some snorkeling. It was exciting seeing some of the sea animals in the shallow 8 feet deep area. I saw a school of fish and a stingray. Seeing sea animals in front of you is very exciting. I could tell you more, but that would take me all day. This trip was so much fun! I can't wait to go back! I would buy a ticket and go back right now if I could. Ha ha ha!

Hope you all enjoyed reading about my first time in Mexico. Now, on with the covers. Two more Game Boy Advance covers are done. They are Tonka: On the Job and Little Einsteins. These two covers were challenging to do. Both covers are now available in full retail for the first time. I noticed that the site has been fixed and people can upload covers again. Yay! Can you believe 50 gigabytes of covers were uploaded? That is a ton of covers! It's so great to see covers getting approved for the main site again. I missed seeing that. When I get around to it, I'm going to upload and approve my latest Game Boy covers for the main site. More covers are coming soon. Until the next time, take care!

Hello again, everyone! Has it been almost a month since I posted a cover? Wow! Time flies when you're having fun! I have another Game Boy Advance cover for you today! It's another remake. The cover is Dora the Explorer: Dora's World Adventure! The first time I made this cover was in 2019. Back then, I didn't do as much work on it. I wanted to make this cover look even better. I did a lot of tracing and made Dora and Swiper into vectors. The font used for the information text and screenshot subtitles couldn't be identified on MyFonts.com's subsection WhatTheFont. I couldn't find out what the font is with Identifont.com either. What is up with these mysterious fonts? I realized later on that I would have to trace the letters into vectors. It took me over three hours to trace all the uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols into vectors. I was determined to trace all the letters I could find. I scanned some pages from the instruction booklet and I was able to get the rest of the letters, numbers, and symbols. The only ones I couldn't find and trace were the number 8, lowercase q, and uppercase Z. I wonder what those would have looked like. All the vectors are available in my Vector Logos folder for anyone who wants to use that font. This is the same thing I had to do when I remade Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day! I never did all this tracing the first time I made this cover. I feel so good with all I have accomplished. Dora the Explorer: Dora's World Adventure! is now available in full retail for the first time. Be sure to check back often. I will have some more covers up soon. Happy gaming!

Hey, gamers! What's up? I'm back with another remake. Today, it's Sesame Street: The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland for Game Boy Color. This remake was pretty challenging and it's now available in full retail for the first time. "Gameplay" has been corrected as one word on the two screenshots. That is something I never fixed the first time I made this cover three years ago. The colors are also brighter and won't look so dark on the actual print. I'm so excited about finishing another cover. You may have seen my newest Game Boy covers on the main site. I uploaded and approved all of them in chronological order from this forum. Now, when I try to upload one of my covers, I get a Slim Application Error. Looks like we're back to square one. I hope Snowcone gets the site fixed soon. It also looks like the site is getting lots of spam posts again. I hate that crud!

Tomorrow is Portland Retro Gaming Expo in Portland, Oregon! I'm so excited! There hasn't been a Portland Retro Gaming Expo for two years since the pandemic started. The last time I was in Portland was January 2020. I attended the video game swap meet that year. I can't tell you how much I have missed going to Portland. I'm so happy Portland Retro Gaming Expo has returned. I will be taking the last flight right after work tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to it! Last weekend was Pin-A-Go-Go in Dixon. It was a nice bicycle ride going from Sacramento to Dixon. The event was small this year. It looked like there were only a little over 100 machines. I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. There were many other pinball machines I wanted to play and they weren't there. Well, there is always next October when it returns. I turned 39 years old on October 11. I still feel the same as if it was yesterday. It was nice celebrating my birthday with my family at Chevy's. That's my #1 favorite restaurant. I have loved that place ever since I was a kid.

Enjoy my better, higher quality cover of Sesame Street: The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. More covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Hey, all you gamers out there! I'm back with another cover for your collections. Before I get to it, I'm going to tell all of you about this year's Portland Retro Gaming Expo. It was so crowded! I had to wait until some people would move out of the way before I could see what the many vendors were selling. It was kind of annoying, but I did survive it. Looks like so many people missed this event just as much as I did. I picked up some more complete in box games for scanning purposes. I'm looking forward to making the covers and putting them here for all of you. For those of you who know me, I take lots of time to make a cover because I care about the quality just as much as you do. Portland Retro Gaming Expo had a very cool Pac-Man museum and it was so awesome seeing all the different Pac-Man video games from the many years, including the merchandise that came out in the '80s. I didn't even know a Pac-Man cartoon exists. It was made by Hanna-Barbera. They have the complete 1st and 2nd seasons on DVD. They even had a CRT TV playing one of the DVDs. I got to watch a little bit of one episode of Pac-Man while I was looking around the Pac-Man museum. I had a blast seeing all that stuff, playing arcade machines, pinball machines, and consoles that were hooked up to many CRT TVs. I can't tell you how much I missed going to Portland Retro Gaming Expo. I'm looking forward to next year's event. I wouldn't be able to do all this stuff if I was married with children. I'm very happy to be single. Overall, I had a great time and I'm very happy I went. I hope the video game swap meet will return in January 2023. If it does, I'm there!

Hope you enjoyed reading about how much fun I had at Portland Retro Gaming Expo. Now, on with the cover! Here is another Game Boy Advance cover available in full retail for the time. It's Noddy: A Day in Toyland. You know what was strange about this cover? The flag of France had orange instead of red on the right vertical bar. The French flag doesn't have orange, it has red. Did they print the wrong color for that flag when they made the box for this game? It blows my mind! I fixed the French flag by putting in the same shade of red I used for the USA flag. I also made a better, higher quality vector of the logo The Game Factory. It's available in my Vector Logos folder for everyone to use. The American English information text had the British English spelling of "colourful". I corrected the spelling by removing the "u" between "o" and "r". Now it has the correct American English spelling of "colorful". Since this is the USA cover and it has the American flag, it needed to have the American English spelling for that word. Enjoy my latest Game Boy Advance cover. Halloween is just around the corner and I don't know what I'm going to do on Halloween this year. If I could share my favorite Halloween candy with all of you here, I would do it. I don't like to be the only one enjoying my favorite candy, I like to see others enjoy it too. Happy Halloween, everyone!

I love the Pac-Man cartoon! I used to watch that all the time. The Pac-Land game is actually based on that cartoon.

Namco is actually in a bit of a "fight" with AT Games over the Ms. Pac Man (and other Pac games that were made by people other than Namco). Because of this, they refuse to release any modern ports of Ms. Pac Man and are removing/ replacing her, Baby Pac-Man, Chomp Chomp and any other characters that originated from the cartoon or games made by Midway. It sucks. AT Games sucks. I guess this is to devalue these characters for AT Games because of some stupid rights snafu that gives them some control over these characters.

Hi, everyone! I have two new Game Boy covers! Before I get to them, I would like to say hello to marioxb. That is so cool that you like the Pac-Man cartoon. I'm going to watch it someday. I'm a big animation buff. I grew up playing Pac-Land on the Atari ST. I never played the arcade version as a kid. I didn't know about all the fighting that is going on between AT Games and Namco. It makes me kind of sad. It just shows what greed can do to some companies. Thank you for telling me about that. Now, on with the covers!

I was still in an arcade mood after I posted my previous cover. That's when I decided to make covers for two arcade games. The covers are Super Breakout and Namco Museum. These two covers were challenging and took me three weeks to do. How do you like that? I knocked out two more covers for the good guys! Ha ha ha! Arcade games always put me in a good mood. Besides bringing back fond childhood memories, I try to get better at them. That is what made these games great. They challenged you and made you want to get better. The many games in the arcade required a different set of skills and helped develop your motor skills. Today's video games don't challenge you enough. They are too forgiving and barely challenge you. Many people have complained that modern video games are getting too easy. When were video games supposed to be so easy that a 5 year old could beat it? The average gamer is 30; not 3. If you couldn't beat a video game back in the '80s and '90s, it was a skill you didn't have. If you could beat a hard video game, it would give you a big sense of accomplishment. As I get older, I become more fascinated and appreciative for retro video games.

I'm going with my mom to Las Vegas tomorrow. We will be attending a three day coin show for the first time. I'm excited! It will be our 2nd time going to Las Vegas. The first we went to Las Vegas was 8 years ago. I went to attend a convention called Viva Las Pegasus. It was a convention for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Unfortunately, we arrived on the third and last day of the convention and the vendors were packing up their stuff early. I couldn't understand what was going on. It was their first time as well as last time having Viva Las Pegasus. I don't know exactly what happened. I think the vendors weren't paid enough? I did hear that it had something to do with money, but I never knew the real story. One good thing came out of it, though. I got to meet John de Lancie who voices Discord. He played Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He signed one of my My Little Pony trading cards that had Discord on it. I felt sad after that because I was looking forward to the convention.

Before I go, I would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. I will be back with more covers.

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more covers for your collection! Before I get to them, I want to tell you about my trip to Las Vegas. I had a great time in Las Vegas. It was fun attending the coin show at Palace Station Hotel & Casino. I found so many silver coins I haven't been able to get at the Sacramento Coin Show or at my local coin shop in Sacramento. I don't know if I'm going to attend the first one in 2023 which is going to be in late March. It's expensive to go to Las Vegas. When we got to Las Vegas and got our room, I just didn't feel excited about gambling. I did gamble a little bit and lost almost $1,000. I don't take losing so well when it comes to gambling. Putting money into a slot machine to try and win money is just silly. Most of the time, you lose. Why even do it? Stay away from gambling, guys. Trust me. You will be much happier saving your hard-earned money for vacations, experiences, video games, or even precious metals such as silver and gold. While we were in Las Vegas, I went to the new location of Pinball Hall of Fame and played a lot of pinball. Pinball Hall of Fame used to be on E. Tropicana Ave. It moved to Las Vegas Blvd. S. That is the same street the strip is on. I went to Coca-Cola World and M&M's World on the strip. They have lots of cool stuff. I almost bought myself some Coca-Cola socks. We went and checked out some other casinos. On the third day while we were in Las Vegas, I started shivering uncontrollably. The casino would always be so cold. Whenever I would stay still and get warmed up, I would feel much better. I did feel a little better on the 4th day as my chills did stop. I coughed and sneezed a little. I thought that it was just my allergies kicking in. I didn't expect Las Vegas to be so cold in the evening. The cold temperature in Sacramento is very tame. Even though I lost while gambling, I had a good time anyway. When I was gambling, I asked myself, "Why am I doing this?"

For Thanksgiving, we drove up to Corvallis, Oregon to see my 2nd oldest nephew because he is attending college there. We arrived the day before Thanksgiving at an AirBNB my sister-in-law booked. It took 9 hours to drive from Sacramento to Corvallis. I have never rode in a car that long. When we arrived at the AirBNB, I couldn't understand why I started shivering uncontrollably again after I got out of the car. I thought it was because I'm not used to the very cold temperature. It's very cold in Corvallis. I did feel a little better the next day on Thanksgiving. I had a good time with my family. However, my mom wasn't feeling good the day after Thanksgiving. She started shivering uncontrollably too. My sister-in-law had plenty of COVID-19 test strips for all of us. My mom took the test and she tested positive. I was upset when I heard about it. She stayed in bed all day that day and I felt bad for her. I took a COVID-19 test too. I was shocked to see that I was positive too. I was very confused and sad to see that I got the coronavirus, but I wasn't scared. I'm not afraid of a virus. It made me wonder how I got it. I follow all safety precautions by wearing a mask when I go out and yet, I still got the coronavirus. When we got home, I couldn't work at the office on my two days I'm scheduled to be in the office. Thankfully, one of my co-workers was free to cover my two days so I could work from home all last week. I took another COVID-19 test on Monday, November 28 and I was still positive, including my mom. I lost my sense of smell, sense of taste, and I would get tired easily. On Friday, December 2, 2022, we took another COVID-19 test. I was feeling much better and had more energy. My mom still tested positive, but, I tested negative. I was so happy when the test strip showed I was negative. As I type this, my mom has gotten so much energy back and she is doing much better. I think she is going to test negative on the next test. She is going to take another test on Tuesday, December 6. I hate to see my mom not feeling well. I do my best to take care of her. I also do grocery shopping for her while she stays home to rest. I'm thankful nothing bad happened to us. We have our boosters, but not the latest booster. We are going to get it soon. Now, let's get to the covers.

The two new covers are Vegas Games for Game Boy Color and World Championship Poker for Game Boy Advance. I picked up World Championship Poker at Portland Retro Gaming Expo back in October for $5. It was a brand new copy. Making this cover was much easier as I didn't have to clean the scan very much. I originally made World Championship Poker back in 2014 when I was very new at making covers. If you look at my old Lexmark scanned cover on the main site and compare it with my Canon scanned cover, you can see a huge difference in the quality. The cover is now available in full retail for the first time. Not only is the cover more retail accurate, it also now has the right fonts. I was surprised to find some of the fonts I used on the old cover were wrong. For example, I typed the words "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER GAME SYSTEMS!" using the font Impact on the old cover. The font used for those words on the original box is Helvetica-Compressed Roman. If you made it this far, congratulations! Now, head for the links below and download those covers! I still can't upload covers to the main site because the "Upload a Cover" option is still down. It has been down for two months so far. I hope Snowcone is able to fix it. More covers are on the way! Happy gaming!

Merry Christmas, fellow gamers! Your portable cover master is back and spreading some Christmas joy by making another Game Boy Advance cover in two versions. The cover is Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I discovered by accident that two versions of this cover exist. Version 1 has an advertisement on the front for a free child's movie ticket that was included. Version 2 doesn't have that. There are minor differences on the back if you look closely. I didn't think this cover was going to take so much work. Typing one letter at a time and moving them into different positions on the front for the child's movie ticket promo and the back with the headliner "Beware:" were very tedious. Retyping the information text was tedious on this cover because it's curved instead of straight. I had to play around with adding a curved line to type on. I had to rotate and change the size of the oval numerous times before I got the information text lined up as close as possible with the scanned text. As a bonus, I scanned and restored both sides of the movie certificate that came with Version 1. I cropped the movie certificate very carefully to get the same number of pixels for both sides. When I was working on Side 2 of the movie certificate, I was overwhelmed by the list of movie theaters. I had no idea there were that many in the U.S. There are so many movie theaters I have never heard of. The movie theaters I am familiar with are United Artists, Century Theaters, AMC, and Regal Cinemas. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events was released in 2004; the same year my 2nd oldest nephew was born. Head on down and enjoy my latest cover and the movie certificate. Spend some quality time with your families this Christmas and don't forget to play some video games. I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you in 2023!

Happy New Year, everybody! Welcome to the year 2023! Your portable cover master has made his first three Game Boy Advance covers for 2023. What a great way to start the new year! My first cover is Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits in two versions. I discovered by accident that two versions of this game exist. Version 1 has the Midway logo on the front. Version 2 has the Majesco logo on the front. These two differences are also on the spines. Another thing that's interesting are the seals. Version 1 has the old Official Nintendo Seal of Quality. Version 2 has the current Official Nintendo Seal. If you have a loose copy of Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits, here is some information about the two cartridge labels to help you identify which version you may have:

Version 1 has the Midway logo underneath the game title and the Official Nintendo Seal of Quality is on the right. The cartridge label has the code AGB-AM3E-USA.
Version 2 has the Majesco logo underneath the game title and the Official Nintendo Seal is on the right. The cartridge label has the code AGB-AM3E-USA-1.

Another difference I found on the covers were the trademark symbols. Version 1 has no trademark symbols for Defender, Sinistar, and Robotron: 2084 on the front. Version 2 has round trademark symbols for Defender, Sinistar, and Robotron: 2084 on the front. Only Joust has the TM symbol on both versions. If you need to buy the instruction manual, check the front cover so you can buy the correct version for your copy. Version 1 has the Midway logo in the bottom right corner. Version 2 has the Majesco logo in the bottom right corner. That's it for Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits. Now, onto the next cover.

The other cover I did was Whac-A-Mole. This cover wasn't as hard to do as Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits. The back has a mysterious font for the headliner. The font couldn't be identified. I had to trace the headliner. It took me approximately 15 minutes to trace it into a vector. It makes me happy knowing that I helped someone case up their loose copy with one of these covers. I have many more Game Boy covers on the way. See you next time!

What's up, everybody? Your portable cover master is back with some more new covers. Look at how much time has passed since I posted some new covers. My project got delayed. I'll explain what happened later. I finished both Finding Nemo covers for Game Boy Advance: Finding Nemo and Finding Nemo: The Continuing Adventures. As a bonus, I also scanned and restored the 2-sided poster that came with Finding Nemo. I never made the poster the first time I made the Finding Nemo cover back in August 2015. Side 1 has the artwork from the box and Side 2 has the artwork from the theatrical poster. I looked around to find a good condition copy of Finding Nemo: The Continuing Adventures on eBay and bought it. My project got delayed because my package got stolen. When I checked the delivery confirmation on eBay, it showed my package was delivered on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. I never checked the mailbox when I got home from work that day, including my mom. The next day, when my mom went to check the mailbox, she found a little piece of paper addressed to her on the ground next to the mailbox. We noticed that someone tampered with the mailbox, but it wasn't busted. All the mailboxes looked fine. The post office couldn't do anything because the package wasn't insured. Almost a week later, I found a seller on eBay selling a brand new copy for much less than the other two brand new copies I found. I had to use up the last of my $50 eBay gift card to buy another copy of Finding Nemo: The Continuing Adventures. I was determined to get that cover made. In all the years I have purchased video games online, none of my packages have ever been stolen. I wasn't upset; just a little sad. It takes a lot of work to get me angry. It was worth the wait. Head on down and download the covers and posters. I'm out of here until next time. Happy gaming!

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with 4 more Game Boy covers for your collections. I did all the Battleship covers for all three Game Boy systems: Original, Color, and Advance. These are all brand new covers the site doesn't have. There is no dedicated Battleship game on the Game Boy Advance. Instead, Battleship is part of a triple pack called Risk / Battleship / Clue. I found out by accident that two versions of Risk / Battleship / Clue exist. The front artwork is different on both versions of the triple pack. There are minor differences on the spine and back. Take a look and you'll see what I mean. I expected the cartridge label to be different when I ordered Version 2 of Risk / Battleship / Clue, but nope. If you're casing up a loose copy of Risk / Battleship / Clue, you can use whichever cover you like. If you need to buy the instruction manual for Risk / Battleship / Clue, make sure the cover on the instruction manual matches the front artwork of the cover you are using. That is all I can tell you. Battleship for the original Game Boy was requested by TheCorgiGuy. I feel so good when I finish a cover for someone who needs it. Of course, that cover is for everyone, not just one person. Ha ha ha! I found it odd that the Game Boy Color version of Battleship says, "The Arcade Hit Classic!" at the top on the front. Battleship is a board game; not an arcade game. I think Hasbro messed up here. You are not going to believe this. The information text on the Game Boy Color version is from Super Battleship on the Super Nintendo. I'm not kidding. Why did they copy the information text from the Super Nintendo version? Were they too lazy to write something different? I have never seen anything like this. Here are six mistakes I found and fixed on the Game Boy Color version:

"Gameplay" is now correctly spelled as one word. (This is a common mistake I fix on Game Boy covers)
"Naval" was missing the "v" and has been added.
"Seasick" had a dash. The dash has been removed because "seasick" isn't spelled with a dash.
"Onto" is now spelled as two words. Part of one sentence now correctly says, "hold on to your brains!"
"Missiles" was missing an "i" between "s" and "l". I added the 2nd "i" that was missing.
"Pocket" is now spelled with a capital P. Game Boy Pocket is the name of a Game Boy system.

Did Hasbro not have someone to proofread the text before they made the box for the Game Boy Color version? This blows my mind on so many levels. Thankfully, we cover artists can fix those mistakes when we retype the text. I'm so stoked that the "Upload a Cover" option has been fixed. It had been down for 4 months as I type this. It's so nice to see people uploading covers for approval again. I missed seeing new covers on the home page. It got kind of boring seeing my latest Game Boy covers on the home page for so long. I will be uploading and approving the last of my new Game Boy covers in chronological order for the main site soon. Please enjoy the Battleship covers. More covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Hi, everyone! It's been a long time. This is the longest I have ever gone without posting new covers. I bet you were wondering where I was. I attended the Las Vegas Coin Show for the 2nd time in late March 2023. It was a lot of fun. I bought lots of silver. I did not catch the coronavirus this time. Yay! I have been taking care of important business with work and family. I have also been reviewing and approving covers for the main site, including adding titles to the various sections. Don't worry, I have lots of new covers today. After I did all the Battleship covers, I had board games on my mind and wanted to do all the board game triple packs for Game Boy Advance. It got to the point where I started reminiscing on my childhood. Some of the board games I played as a kid were Battleship, Perfection, Sorry!, Trouble, Guess Who, Mouse Trap, and Connect Four. When I cleaned and tested each cartridge, I became obsessed with Yahtzee. I got a better understanding on how to play Yahtzee. I even watched How to Play Yahtzee on YouTube by Triple S Games. Triple S Games has loads of videos on how to play all kinds of board games and card games. I played Yahtzee one time with my brother when I was at his house many years ago. The first time we played Yahtzee together, we weren't playing it properly. My brother got a little confused when he read the rules. He has the original Yahtzee from 1956. He bought it over 10 years ago at a thrift store for only $1. Hasbro brought back the retro Yahtzee in 2017. It's called Classic Yahtzee. You can find that in many toy stores today. Why didn't Hasbro release it in 2016? They could've made a special 60th anniversary edition of Yahtzee that year. Last month, I borrowed my brother's Yahtzee game so I could scan the score card and restore it in Photoshop. I worked on it while I was making the board game video game covers. I measured the score card very carefully to see how tall and wide it is. The score card is 5 1/4" x 7". I even translated the score card from English to Italian. This is the first time I ever translated something into another language. I used Google Translate to translate some of the words. I also checked used copies of Yahtzee on the Italian eBay site (ebay.it) to see what words are used for the Italian Yahtzee score card. After I finished the Italian translation, I asked my mom to proofread it. Everything was correct. The 1956 Yahtzee score card is available here for anyone who needs it for their Yahtzee game. I also made a Word document that has both sides of the score card. Each page of the Word document has two score cards so you can print two score cards (and both sides) on one sheet of letter size paper. Side 1 has a border around the score card so you can see where the edges are. This helps eliminate any guesswork so you can cut them out properly. If anyone wants the 1956 Yahtzee score card translated into another language, please let me know.

Let's get back to the covers. Here are all the board game triple packs for the Game Boy Advance. These were tough and took a lot of work. Now they are available for everyone! Please enjoy all the board game triple packs and the Yahtzee score card. It's a long way down! More covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Thank you for the kind words, Octobun! I'm very happy you requested some covers. I do have a copy of SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants! for Game Boy Advance together with many other SpongeBob SquarePants games that are waiting to be made into covers. I am always up for making a cover for anyone. I am willing to try my hand at making the cover for Disney Princess. The site needs a better, higher quality cover of Disney Princess, especially a full retail version. I'm working on more than two of Thugsta4Life's Game Boy cover requests right now. I can't wait to post the new covers. They are going to take some time because I don't cut corners or do half of a job. I feel so good when I make a cover for someone that requested it. Stay tuned!

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more new covers for your collections! Get ready, guys! Here are my first two wrestling video game covers. This year makes it the 10th year I have been making covers. In those 10 years, I have never made any covers for the wrestling video games. I have made covers for side scrollers, puzzle games, sports games, shooters, board games, and fighting games, just to name a few. These covers were requested by Thugsta4Life. I feel best when I make covers for someone that requested them. Here are some mistakes I fixed on these two covers:

WWF War Zone
There was no space between the words "Animated Violence" and , "rating, please" on the back for the ESRB rating information. I had to slightly shrink the words "Mild Animated Violence" so I could put a space between "Animated Violence" so all three words "Mild Animated Violence" could fit in the box. The other mistake was fixed by adding a space after the comma.
"Information" was misspelled. It had a lower-case L at the beginning and two lower-case N's at the end. This mistake blew my mind. Surprisingly, "gameplay" was correctly spelled as one word.

ECW Hardcore Revolution
"Gameplay" was incorrectly spelled as two words. I eliminated the space after retyping the text.
"Rating" had an upper-case R on the ESRB rating information on the back. I changed it to a lower-case r so it looks proper.
"Barbed wire" had a dash between the words. I found out that "barbed wire" isn't spelled with a dash. The dash has been removed.

The most fun I had working on ECW Hardcore Revolution was recreating the torn up letters "E-C-W!!!" All I had to do was retype the letters with Impact LT Std Roman, save the text layer as a PNG image, paste the image layer in, and select different areas of the letters to cut with the polygonal lasso tool. When it was done, I auto traced the letters into a vector. I'm going to make some more wrestling video game covers Thugsta4Life requested. They are coming soon. Happy gaming!

Hello, everyone! I'm back once again with another cover. It's WWF WrestleMania 2000. The copy I bought for scanning purposes came with a 2-sided poster. I had to scan this poster because The Cover Project needs more posters. Side 1 was pretty easy. Side 2 was very challenging and I love a challenge. The hardest part on the poster was typing the text in different sizes where it's tilted at an angle. The letters start out small on the left and get slightly bigger to the right. WWF WrestleMania 2000 was requested by Thugsta4Life. How do you like that? Knocking another cover off his request list. I had a great time making this cover and the poster. The hardest and most challenging part with the cover was the yellow text on the back. The yellow text used on the back is not an actual font. It couldn't be identified on MyFonts.com or Identifont.com. I had to manually trace every letter in the different sizes, apply the color overlay, and paste in each subtitle as a layer, including the headliner. It took less than two minutes to trace each letter. Restoring the box art and posters for WWF WrestleMania 2000 took a long time. Restoring anything takes time and a lot of patience.

As a little something extra, I restored another Yahtzee score card. This one is for the 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition. I was able to find a seller that had an original unused pad of 20 score cards on eBay. It took me a few hours to restore the score card because it's very simple. This particular score card only has one side. It is slightly smaller than the first score card from 1956. I guess Milton Bradley decided to do away with 2-sided score cards and make 1-sided score cards starting in the '70s. When I traced the Yahtzee 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition logo into a vector, I made another vector of the logo with an Italian translation. You might be wondering why I did that. I did that just for fun. While I was at it, I also translated the score card to Italian. I don't think Italy ever got the Yahtzee 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition. I also put two score cards together on one big image for printing. This will allow you to print two Yahtzee score cards on one sheet of letter size paper. The score cards on the printing sheet also have a black stroke around each one so you can see where the edges are when you cut them out. Hope everyone enjoys the new cover, posters, and Yahtzee score card. I'm working hard to make more covers Thugsta4Life requested. I will be back soon with another cover or two. Happy gaming!

Hello and welcome, everyone! I have another wrestling cover and two posters that came with it. The new cover is WWF Attitude for Game Boy Color. This one was quite a challenge to restore. It was requested by Thugsta4Life. I have been enjoying helping him case up his games. I would like to give a shout-out to Octobun. Thank you, Octobun, for posting the link to the raw scan of Disney Princess on The Internet Archive. I took a look and noticed the raw scan is 600 dpi. Ever since I got my Canon Pixma TR-7520 all-in-one printer back in late 2018, I can only use scans that are 1,200 dpi or higher. Going from 600 dpi to 1,200 dpi makes a huge difference. After I make some more covers for Thugsta4Life, I will try to make the two covers you requested.

Hope everyone had a fun Independence Day last week! It sounded like a war zone with all the booms and fireworks going off that day. I enjoyed making the WWF Attitude cover and the two-sided poster that came with it. One side of the poster had artwork for WWF Attitude. The other side had artwork for All-Star Baseball 2000. More covers are coming soon! Until the next time, take care!

What's up, everybody? I'm back once again with two more video game covers for your collections. I have WWF Superstars and WWF Superstars 2. When I discovered by accident that a sequel exists, I had to make both covers. The Cover Project doesn't have these and needs them. WWF Superstars was requested by Thugsta4Life. If he decides to buy the sequel and needs the box art, I have him covered (no pun intended). When I was working on WWF Superstars, I saw no barcode on the back of the box. The barcode is on the spine. Not the left spine; the right spine. This is the first original Game Boy game I have come across where the barcode is not on the back. When I was putting the WWF Superstars cover together, I decided to make two versions of the cover by making both retail spines. It's important that the cover has the barcode too. I used the right spine to make Version 1. I used the left spine to make Version 2. Version 1 has the barcode on the spine; Version 2 does not. You can use whichever cover you like.

When I worked on WWF Superstars 2, I didn't have to make two spines because the barcode is on the back of the box. At least LJN got the sequel right when they designed the box for this game. Be sure to check back often. I am working hard to make more covers for everyone, including Thugsta4Life. Happy gaming!

Hey, gamers! What's up? I finished another video game cover. Here is WCW Mayhem for Game Boy Color. I am surprised that this one didn't take as much time to restore. This completes the last wrestling video game cover Thugsta4Life requested for original Game Boy and Game Boy Color. I feel like I have accomplished so much. It makes me feel good knowing that I helped someone case up their games with these covers. I will try to make the two wrestling covers Thugsta4Life requested for Game Boy Advance, including the non-wrestling video game covers.

There were quite a few mistakes I fixed on this cover. The first mistake I found were two misspelled words on the legal text: depicted and trademarks. Depicted was spelled with an "e" instead of an "i" between "p" and "c". Trademarks had an "e" between "m" and "a". Did Nintendo not have someone to proofread the box before they printed it back then? This blows my mind. "Gameplay" was spelled as two words. It is now correctly spelled as one word. That's a common mistake I fix on many Game Boy covers. The words "backstage areas", "locker room", "back alley", and "weapons" all started with uppercase letters. Those words now start with lowercase letters. Another mistake I fixed was "hookup". It was originally spelled with a dash. The dash has been removed because "hookup" isn't spelled with a dash. I added a period on the 4th bullet on the back. The sentence was missing a period, so I added it. Last, but not least, "website" was spelled as two words on the ESRB information. The space has been removed and is now spelled as one word.

That covers all the mistakes I found and fixed. The wrestler on the back made me think that one of the members of Kiss went to go wrestle. Ha ha ha! That never happened. You can tell it's not Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, or Peter Criss. Ha ha ha! Anyway, enjoy my latest Game Boy cover. I have more covers on the way. Happy gaming!
