Title: Console box scans?
Post by: Grundlesmith on June 27, 2020, 10:01:26 AM
I just found this site, incredible work here.

I have always enjoyed displaying my console boxes wherever my systems are set up. While browsing the archive, I see a handful of console box scans, but not too many. Is there generally a lack of interest in console box scans?

I have a few good ones I can contribute (donkey kong snes, atomic purple n64), but I wanted to make sure that a) the work hasn't been done already and b) this is the right site for this content. My boxes are showing a little wear after all these years, and I was thinking of scanning and retouching them when I came across this site. I am looking for a few as well- the Wii U windwaker box, and the hyrule 3ds xl box. Thanks

I think it's mostly because the boxes are too big to scan all at once so it needs to be stitched together and it's almost impossible to do if each scan is not completely straight.

You can always post your stuff to the forums. (The main site is inactive anyway.)  :)

There is also another site called NintAndBox.com (https://www.nintandbox.net/index.php/en/). They concentrate on preserving game boxes of retro nintendo platforms. They also have a section for console boxes:

Just bought this off of Facebook.  I think it's just easier to explain with pictures on why I cannot scan this box with my Epson Perfection v700...

Hahah thanks for the replies. I have access to a large format scanner at uni, so maybe I'll go in at midnight with a stack of video game boxes and get the raws. Thanks again for the tips, I'll take a look at nintandbox

Stitching photos/images/scans together is literally why photoshop was invented. No excuses!  ::)

Laziness then.  I'll blame it on my having no ambition on scanning this about 18 times

Already annoyed with scanning it lol.  If more people want to scan boxes that someone will eventually reproduce and sell for a profit (as you know, everyone can print these out! *rolls eyes*), be my guest.   ;D
