Is gamecaseking.com affiliated with Shadowfox? They are selling his literal cases (or at least cases from his exact molds) and advertising them with no mention of CGC. Whats the story??
-
No. GCK just buys his cases and sells them, same as buying UGCs from mediashelving.
-
ALRIGHT! Go grab the popcorn. ;)
About 5 years ago a young college student reached out to me about selling my cases online and wanted to know if I did better rates at higher volumes. (At this point I was able to see that this guy already had placed like 6 orders in the past for blank cases) So I emailed him my number and we connected up on the phone call.
The guy's name was Jarred and he wanted to pay me 50% up front for 1000 blank gameboy cases and once he sold them, he'd pay off the remaining 50% and place another 50% down for the restock. (So basically a consignment gig) I agreed to it.
So Jarred and I would text about once every few weeks just to check in with each other. He built his site (GameCaseKing) and he started getting a following on Instagram. (At the time I don't think I was even on Instagram) Well, Jarred started to gain momentum on IG and he was reordering cases faster and faster. So about 12-18 months goes by and Jarred texts me wanting to chat, I called him and in our hour long conversation Jarred wanted me to make him Partner with CustomGameCases. I kindly turned him down and told him I wasn't interested in a partner.
So a few months go by and we kept doing what we were doing and he mentioned the partner idea again, and again I told him nicely I wasn't interested. Well that time he wanted to threaten me that he would just go get a Business loan and come after my cases. He felt he had plenty of followers, and that his Brother had a Degree in Business so between both of them they could do it. ....me, being a fairly odd fellow (anarchist/capital minded guy) I told him that threatening me wouldn't change my mind and he's a free man and he can do what he pleases.
So time goes on, he still is buying cases from me and we are still doing the whole 50% and shipping out the next batch of case thing. While all this was going on, in Jarred's personal life, him and his Girl Friend got engaged. I congratulated him and still, him and I were keeping in contact via texting just mainly as acquaintances. (Items about game cases and personal lives ect.)
So one day Jarred texts me and said "Have you seen what I announced on IG, I hope you are not too mad" I told him no and I went to check it out. On his IG story he was showing these mini cardboard boxes that just fit the game carts in. They were cardboard and tiny and he was using box art for them. I told them I didn't mind them at all and I told them they looked cool. So he wanted me to go in on these with him, which I wasn't interested in. A few weeks went by and he started to take in Pre-orders for these mini boxes.
I told him to be careful with pre-selling things from China because at this time he didn't have any deposit on these boxes and they only shipped him like 5 sample boxes to check out. I told him the China has this thing they do when they give to a super low price but when you finally get to ordering the items if it's your first time dealing with that factory they tend to spike the price and/or MOQ on you at the last minute.
I don't remember how much $$$ Jarred got in the pre-orders, but I remember what he told me it was a decent dollar value, I reminded him to be careful and to make sure he paid China 100% as soon as he could so they couldn't change anything on him.
Some time went by (like a few months) and I believe Jarred paid a deposit down to the factory to create these small boxes, Jarred's pre-order clients started to get antsy and he was doing his best to calm people down on IG. At this time I pretty much stopped following what Jarred was doing, and a few more months past. I was starting to get emails from people asking me if I was able to get a hold of GameCaseKing. So I called Jarred and we chatted and were catching up, I could tell he was extremely stressed out. In the conversation I mentioned to him that I was getting a few emails from some of his clients looking to get in touch with him. Jarred went silent and then soberly told me that the Factory demanded more money for the mini boxes and the price almost doubled (If I remember right) and so I said "You have that money right?" and he told me that he used the remaining funds for his upcoming wedding! And that he had zero money...
So from that point out Jarred started to become a phantom for not only his clients, but for me as well. At this time (and still actually) he owed me over $1,200 in consignment cases.. at the beginning, I did ask about the $1,200 for my cases.... but as weeks turned into months it turned into "I haven't forgotten about you Jeremy" and "I know I still owe ya"
So at this time Jarred pretty much went dark on Instagram, loads of angry people were looking for him, he started refunding people with the money he was getting from the case sales... but he must have shorted himself (I'm guessing, because he hasn't ordered cases from me for almost 2 years now.)
As time went on I would text Jarred and I wouldn't get a reply back. His number goes straight to VM, I left several VMs. I reached out to him on his personal FB as well as his Girl Friends FB (Mind you, all these contact attempts were spread out over a year's time.)
So about a year and a half ago I sent him a text that read like. "Hey man, I hope you are doing well. I know that things are crazy, I hope you and yours are okay" *No response for 3 days or so* then I sent another text: "Hey, are you alive? I don't care about anything else man, I just want to know you are physically ok" about 15 seconds went by and Jarred texted back "Yes, I'm alive and okay."
So about a week later I tried to text him again but I didn't get a response..... and that was the last time Jarrod and I spoke.
Since then, I've seen that his site is STILL up and I've been told by several clients that his site takes your money and unless you do a Paypal claim you won't get the money back. THIS has been happening to dozens of people. So much so, for the last 2 years I've been trying to catch it expired so I can close this HoneyTrap. I don't think I would even point it to CustomGameCases since it has such a bad rap, I wouldn't want people to think I am GameCaseKing. Since Jarred has failed on multiple occasions to give people their funds back his site has now fallen into the "Scam site" category and I have had 3 separate people inform me that there is an open (open a year ago) FBI fraud investigation on this. Maybe another reason Jarred has been silent.
I know that thecoverproject was a place Jarrod went to a lot in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if he sees this topic. (Unless he's changed) If he's around and if he wants to correct anything I'm saying about the whole situation I'm open to hear! :)

Normally when I see a wall of text, I just skip on by, but for some reason I knew I had to read that and after reading every word, all I can say is wow.

I have ordered your cases before I knew about this site (and have been very happy with them and plan to order more in the future) but after reading about him on this site and others, I have had no desire to give him one penny toward his products. This story reinforces that. Unfortunately, I don't think you'll ever see what he owes you.
-
wow! what an absolute scum bag! I ALWAYS point people directly towards you when they ask about buying cases - so glad i never recommended him!

Same.

You always know a wall of text from Shadowfox is worth it!
Anyways, glad we have the whole thing cleared up on TCP. Thanks for the story!
PS: My grandfather was quite the inventor. At one point, he had a multimillion dollar offer with royalties for one of his patents, and his partner screwed him over. Don't ever take on a partner. ;)

Do you mean GameCaseKing?
I know CGC's real name and not sure if you changed for it identity purposes.

CGC = Custom Game Cases = superior game cases made by Shadowfox, owner of customgamecases.com.
Not same person as Jared/GameCaseKing who bought CGCs from Shadowfox.

Shadowfox is CGC. I don't think his real name is a secret, as anybody who's been ordering from him for awhile has seen it on his boxes or on messages included with partial orders. Jarred is GameCaseKing. Shadowfox is saying that Jarred (GCK) wanted to join CGC as a partner.
