Title: Game Room Walkthrough!
Post by: Bear78 on May 05, 2020, 07:44:12 PM
I've been meaning to do this for a while now and the lockdown finally gave me an excuse to get my rooms cleaned up and do a walkthrough video.  Hope you enjoy!

I missed the live stream because I was out of town and away from the internet, but I was looking forward to watching it eventually.  Nicely done.

No worries, it went OK. Had a few people come and go during it and the video quality wasn't great. I used my mobile data to do it as my internet wasn't being reliable that day so that didn't help.

Very nice! Glad to see someone else still has ROB lying around. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. I loved the MASK collection too. While you were talking about the Star Wars stuff, I was pausing the video to see what MASK toys you had then I heard you say nobody remembers them.   :D Like an idiot, I got rid of 99.9% of the toys I had 20 years ago, MASK included. I think the only thing I kept was my metal Voltron figure. Like ROB, I don't think I'd ever get rid of that even though it's a little beat up.

Love how you have your loose NES and SNES carts set up in cart protectors with the artwork slipped in. If I wasn't already 300+ games deep for each system in UGC's, I'd totally do this. Would save me quite a bit of space!

Thanks man! That ROB is actually a fairly recent pick up lol. I was lucky my parents were pretty cool about not getting rid of my toys (except the GI Joe). MASK is still one of my favorite and it still has its fans, just one of those toy lines not everyone remembers. That diecast Voltron is the next thing I want to track down. I got 2 out of 5. I do have the smaller 5 inch one they released and the 5 inch Vehicle Voltron. You might be able to see them on the top shelf of the computer desk where most of my random toys are.

Thanks! Yeah, when I originally found this site the idea was always to go the UGC route. I never ordered any for various reasons and eventually picked up some of the cart protectors when those popped up for sale. Not long after I had the idea to do the NES slips and then I saw someone else doing mini SNES and N64 boxes and went from there. It ended up working out great as I still get the artwork and save a ton of space. If you ever decide to make the jump, I have all the ones I've done in a Google drive ;)

I've given that some very serious thought.  Space is such a premium now, and I feel as though I don't want to expand my gaming shelves to take up any more room, and going this route would allow me to fit more games in the space I already have.  One of these days, I need to do the math and see just how much of a difference it makes (number of games in same amount of space).

You have a very cool game room, Bear78! I enjoyed every minute of your video. Your collection is crazy! I'd like to get some of those pixel character lamps. They look really cool.

Width you are probably not saving a ton of space but height you will save.

Thanks man!  Yeah, they are fun little lights. I think they stopped making new ones but I believe I got all the ones I really wanted.

So Bear.... Your real name is Andy! Now I know. You have a fun environment. I really dig the toy collection. I made a small video of my arcade collection. I know we have a thread somewhere with game room walkthroughs but... I suppose I'll share mine on your thread. This can be the offical "Share your game room thread".

thanks man!  The arcade room looks great!  I'm jealous of the MVS.  If I ever get a cab, that would be what I would go after.

MVS is a hard market to collect for. Collectors dried up the market. AES is better to collect for.

Yeah, if I got the cab, I would 100% just get a multicart and call it a day.  I'd only worry about actual games IF I found them for a good price (lol).

You guys have some awesome game rooms! Mine is not as impressive as both of yours but they make me want to do a video walk through of my current setup.

I like the idea of these too, and I might go that route. I'll let you know if I do.

Took some new pictures of the Game room and my modern setup.  Not a ton has changed since the video but figured I would post them anyway.

Looks awesome.   8)

I know I keep saying this, but I'm hoping to have the new game room done within the next few months.  I've made a lot of progress the past few weekends.  It would be so much easier if I didn't have to go to work during the week.   :(

No worries, this is the cleanest it's been in a few months lol.  Figured I'd take some updated pics before it gets messy again :P

Man I am getting some good ideas here. I still have to share my game room with my home office. Dang Boomerang kids!
Love the coffee table with all the arcade sticks under the glass. Looks great.

Thanks everyone!

Best part about that coffee table was it was free!  It's been perfect for not only those sticks but all the controllers I can put in the 2 drawers too.
