- DS games
- Mega Drive, 32-X, Mega CD games
- Saturn games
- Few odd games

Now that I've shown part of my collection, help me case the rest.

What kind of case is that that you're using for your NES games?

It's my older little brother's. Room was his but he moved together with his girl friend

What kind of case is that that you're using for your NES games?

All the NES, SNES and Jaguar covers use double wide DVD covers.

I bought these:

Not sure do they sell to other countries than Finland.
Anyway covers on thecoverproject fit nicely into double wide DVD cases about 25-28mm thick.

They do sell them in the US.. They are usually called Stack Packs or Multi Cases. They accommodate between 6 and 10 dvds and are 28mm thick.

FYE/Best Buy/Circut City/etc had DVD cases if I remember correctly (Look on their websites before wasting a trip lol). Do mind that it's like $10 per pack of ten usually.

Micro center is actually a chain of electronics stores.. But I don't see that they have them in LA. I know Best buy dose not carry them either.

That's a nice setup you got going there.

I'm curious what the advantages would be for double DVD cases over UGC, especially for cartridges. Aside from the fact that it's probably easier to get one over the other in Finland.

Thanx. I will finish the shelves tomorrow (Wednesday)

No other advance that I can think of.
To fit game with manual I have to rip the inner disc trays away (actually the place where I order does that and gives me little bit of discount, 'cos they can sell them to libraries as replacement parts) and cut the disc holding parts away, otherwise the case bulges.

Anyway I use double wide DVD cases, 27.5 mm (1.1") thick.
If you were European, getting them would have been somewhat easy.
But it seems that non-European users, especially US ones, have hard time finding them.

You just have to try to find the real UGC's that we Europeans have hard time finding.

Any of the big dvd/bd case shops should have 25-28mm cases, most will be the trays but some will be stackpaks.
Examples from the 2 places I frequent most...

American-Digital
3 Disc (25mm) http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=1050&c=1967&name=DVDCase-BlackTripleM-LockHub
4 Disc (28mm) http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=1052&c=1967&name=DVDCase-BlackQuadM-LockHub
5 Disc (25mm) http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=1419&c=1967&name=DVDCase-BlackFiveDVDM-LockHub
6 Disc (25mm) http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=1420&c=1967&name=DVDCase-BlackSixDVDM-LockHub
7 Disc (27mm) http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=2051&c=1967&name=DVDCase-BlackSevenDVDHolder
8 Disc (27mm) http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=2052&c=1967&name=DVDCase-BlackEightDVDHolder
9 Disc (33mm) http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=2110&c=1967&name=DVDCase-BlackNineDVDHolder

SleeveTown

Basically, at least for these ones you just rip out the insert trays.

Just quick update on how ugly my collections looks with so many temporary white spines.
And yes the top 5 shelves are NES games, I actually own or are in the mail arriving next week. And there are more games in storage which I don't remember what they are.
Plus still almost all my SNES and newer games are not in picture.

Ha! I was looking for this post a little while ago.
Amazing collection.

And it's still missing missing my GB, GBA, VB, MD, MCD, 32-X, N64, XBOX, PSP, DS, PS1 and some other games, and my DVD collection, because I ran out of room on the shelves!!!

The room is 276cm high and shelves 240 cm wide (about 9 feet high and 8 feet wide) and there is 12 of the shelves, I think I can squeeze 1 more to the bottom, but that's not gonna help much.

I went to the game room to check, and you are right least partly:
It's 2/3 - 3/4 on the bottom shelf (which is 32 CM from the floor) and  1/4 - 1/3 on C128 which is on the before mentioned box.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY IT'S NOT ON THE FLOOR.

Here is new shot of my collection.

As you can see space is running out.
I can still get more space for my classic Nintendo games (NES AND SNES) with some work:  By removing the PS1, PS2, PS3, DC and X360 games, and re-spacing some shelves and adding 1 more to the bottom, I get 5 shelves more for them, but that is only helping a bit, because I have at least 400 them yet not even in cases and almost 200 arriving soon in mail.

And then there are the other games on other consoles.

I gotta ask buddy. How bad does it burn your ass to know your stuck with clear UGC's now when you already have so many black ones? That would drive me crazy! Its a shame cause Id much prefer them black ones but Id imagine it costs them more to manufacture.

You mean me?

It probably would, but UGC are so hard to get here, that I have always used 27,5 mm thick 8-DVD cases (I just rip the inner trays away instead of them), so no that problem for me, as those are still available.  ;D :D ::)

Of these 10 games only 2 are missing covers (LOZ: Parallel Worlds and Dragon Quest 1&2)... in vertical  US style... hint, hint...

Yep, from there.

SoM 2, isn't the one Peach Waffles made (I thought so too at first), least not directly:

Production code is SNS-A3DE-USA, while on PW's it's, SNS-SD3-USA.
Text on the top of cart has been moved from side to middle.
NINTENDO text on front has "LICENSED BY" text added.
SQUARESOFT text has TM added.
Picture is cropped bit more on the sides.

Nope not by Peach Waffles. The label he uses for his SOM2 carts was made by me. Thats why I mentioned it lol. But I actually sent that one to him and gave him permission to use it for his site because he asked nicely over at the Digital Press forums if it was ok.

Nice one, that is actually nicer front image than what I was thinking!

How do I download that? It's not in your Boxnet, and clicking the image just gives the preview image.

Matching label could be nice, I probably would change the current label as it is not holding perfectly, or may be I will get replacement cart shell and keep the original in safe place.

Its not a snug fit at all. The solution is to cut out foam inserts for the inside of the case and around the game cart.  It works if you are unable to get UGCs.

I think I'm having more fun just staring at the shelves going, "Oh! I have that game. That game was awesome. Huh, I haven't tried that game yet." The shelves are coming along quite nicely though, from what I see.

Shelves themselves are finished, altough I might add one more to the bottom.
Biggest inconvinience is the number of games yet to get cover.
I'll take photos of them when I get home.

I think I have printed those covers (least atari carts one I have) and simply forgot to put those in the cases.
Probably happened when I didn't have enough cases.
Same goes to Iron Soldier. :D

Arseen, I would be interested in knowing more about your shelves. Are they mounted to the wall with some kind of bracket? I have been wanting to do something similar to what you have set up there. It looks very nice BTW. Thanks, and I apologize if these questions have already been asked.

I used L-shaped metal list that is first scrrwed to wall:

And then to the bottoms of the shelves:

The list comes in lenghts of 2 metres.

The shelves are mounted with two 90 cm pieces on the long side and 10cm piece on the short sides (one end mounted to the wall, other to blank of wood seen on the first picture).

Thanks for the pics Arseen. That looks like aluminum angle. I will check around to see what it costs here. It looks like it would support the shelves good.

That looks like aluminum angle.

Oh that's what it's called in English.
But, yes it's aluminun.
2mm thick.

It looks like it would support the shelves good.

It does easily if you support the shelves from 3 sides like I do. Well 2 sides is enough but it sags a bit.

Thanks for the pics Arseen.

No problem.
Glad I could help.

Clean and simple. Nice setup!  I'm sure it makes finding what you want to play really easy too.

I'd love to get all my games into one, single shelving system, instead of being spread around on a bunch of different shelves :/

Hey there! I would like to know what you think of these ?

http://www.discatonce.se/se/art/dvd-fodral-8-skivor-svart-50-pack.php

As you said, UGC are hard to come by in europe... Not sure if these are the same as the ones you linked earlier, but do you think they would work ?

Intended for Pal snes, Ntsc snes, nes, n64 carts.

Post by: Arseen on February 26, 2012, 04:26:31 AM
Look like the same I use for my NESgames.
For N64 and SNES gmes I prefer ones with manual holders, but those are more expensive.

Quess I'll too have to visit sweden and pick those up as they are cheaper than the ones I use.
Cruises from Finland are cheap.

Haha yeah so I heard...
Anyway I got the dimensions from the sites manager and they are as following:

Height 19 cm
Width 13,5 cm
Depth 2,6 cm

Those are the "outer" measures of the box.

Would they fit for UGC cover standards ?

Height is standart DVD, so it's 5 mm too tall.
That really doesn't matter that much, either stretch the height 5mm, or leave 5mm white stripe to the bottom (like I do) or leave to cover just as it is (the difference is 2.5mm on top and bottom, and it's not that noticeable).

The cases I use have 27.5mm spine, but actually the 26mm spine might be better.

------------------------------------

Oh and just noticed you PM, hope it doesn't matter that I answer publicly:

Cases are bit larger that UGCs, so the big NES, SNES and N64 (and Jaguar) manuals fit perfectly, UGC have trouble with them.

Why I use DVD cases instead of VHS cases, there are 2 reasons:
1: VHS cases too had trouble fitting the manuals (+ some DVD cases have holders for the manuals).
2: The match the other DVD game cases
3: DVD cases were easier to come by.
4: DVD cases were cheaper.

Later I figured one more:

5: DVD cases are found up to 36mm (or was even 48mm) thick, so if you're having trouble with fitting game + thick manual or specific game (NEO GEO games ?) , you can always buy thicker case.

And yes they fit NES, SNES and N64 games, as well as Super Gameboy, Jaguar games.
The thicker ones can fit Pro Action Replays and such also.

And sure I can take photo of the inside, but it's just like any DVD case, but thicker and has the disc holder also inside the front cover.
Currently I'm not using anything to hold the games in place.

Huge football fan.

ActuallyI needed the cases (these are flawless and brand new).

The add even said Brand new cases, each case comes with this game and manual (so not game comes in brand new case).

I yhink thje cases were £1 each, £2 maximum.

In which case,  that was a damn good find.  I would do with a stash of megadrive cases.

Was thinking there would have to be a better reason than the actual game - as, if I remember correctly, it's not great!  ;D

What was the dimensions of the boards you purchased for these and where did you buy them? Thinking about 86ing my book shelves and doing something similar to this to conserve room.

The room is 276cm high and shelves 240 cm wide (about 9 feet high and 8 feet wide)

Custom order at local lumberyard.
