Title: My first post, sorry its not a nice one.

I was in Victoria BC, Canada yesterday and came across a lot of SNES games in plastic covers with all the artwork found here for sale. The items were sealed and at ridiculous prices like $69.99 a game.
They also sell off many other video games as sealed for sometimes double what you would find on ebay. Not to mention the machine they use  to seal the games sits right on the counter and they seal stuff up while customers browse.

Here is some info if you feel like harassing them, unfortunately I'm sure there is no real legit way to stop these thieves.

Unfortunately we can't do much about it....

I suppose some Ebay sellers profit from our sites covers too.... :(

well - i have to say - if their customers are stupid enough to think that the games actually came in those plastic cases as retail, and that they don't notice them being 'factory sealed' right in front of them then it's their own fault.  If on the other hand they fully realise, and are just too lazy to buy cases, print our covers and source the cart, then i see no problem with them paying for the benefit of someone else doing it.

If there weren't people buying them, the store would stop selling them, simples.

Whilst i wouldn't say i wholly agreed with it, and it would be nice to claw back some cash for site running costs/development, but i don't have a problem with the supply/demand thing here really.

When I sell my used games on Ebay I'll usually print off a nice cover for them, I give a link to the cover project in the description though.

Eh. It's not like we are in the used game business so I try not to think about people profiting off our covers. What really irked me was people selling Wii Sports covers in a white case for $5 on eBay. Ooooh.

Personally, as long as the person is receiving a genuine game cart I don't think too much of this particular issue.

At the end of the day the chances of getting original boxes for SNES/N64 carts is rapidly dropping due to the fragile nature of the Nintendo packaging due to their decision to use cardboard. And good boxes by themselves often fetch high prices on auction sites like EBAY .... believe me .... I purchased hundreds of them to get the N64 collection here to where it is today ...

So if someone uses our covers for this type of thing I dont care as the purchaser is usually getting the game to play or else they'd be looking for proper packaging.

What does irk me is people selling disc copies of games with artwork. Now THAT is criminal ....
