Title: Various Systems - Various Games
Post by: Zelimpdna on June 14, 2009, 02:15:29 AM
Hello.
First of, thank you to all the cover creators/scanners for all your hard work on this site. I thought about making covers for my games a long time ago, but I burnt myself out creating custom DVD movie covers, and never found the motivation to get into it. After finding this site, my games shelves are looking much better with covers instead of strips of white paper with the game titles in black pen.

I've been able to cover quite a few of my games, but there's still quite a lot I hope one/some of you would be interested in doing.

All are PAL unless otherwise noted.

Also, I'll happily take custom covers, particularly for games like Zelda which have some incredible artwork.

Nintendo Entertainment System
Adventures in the Magic Kingdom
Golf
Gremlins 2
Rainbow Islands
Rygar
The Simpsons: Bart vs Space Mutants
Super Mario Bros - Preferably in a style to match the SMB2/3 covers.
Super Mario Bros 2 - A PAL conversion of the retail-ish cover on the site would be fine.
Super Mario Bros 3 - Same as above.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Super Nintendo - Shenske's vertical template
Donkey Kong Country
The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past - Preferably custom, and happy to have a gold spine :)
Nintendo Scope 6

Star Wars
Super Mario Land
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
Tetris
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

Gameboy Colour - Silver spine
Pinball Arcade

Nintendo DS?
Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector - I guess this would be the right category for it. Full-sized DVD-case cover, though.

Slap Shot

Sega Mega Drive/Genesis
Another World
Brian Lara Cricket
Mega Games I [Columns, Super Hang-On and World Cup Italia '90]

Playstation Demo Disc 1
Point Blank
Rock & Roll Racing 2: Red Asphalt

Star Wars: Episode I - Jedi Power Battles
Theme Hospital
Thrill Kill - I guess this one would have to be custom

Ok, well I couldn't get my scanner working again.

However, this site http://www.zonesega.com/covers/ has those ones, although in quite low-res.

I added a few more games to the list. Until I get the games that I lent to my nephew and niece back, that should be all.

Fixed original post.

Dont see many requests for 2600 customs (none infact  ;)). Big problem is there is not a lot to work with. Infact, having the original art is pretty fortunate in this day and age. So i attempted Haunted House in the brown box format. If you like it as is , i will put it up.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm still annoyed I lost out on a set of 8 boxed 2600 games last week.

Haunted House looks very good. Thank you for doing it.

NP :). I will put it up when i have some spare time. I need at least 3 from your SNES list myself so i will do those if someone does'nt do them first. And if your ok with custom, i can adapt my 7800 version of Commando to the 2600 template. VT was working on a Mega CD template(i believe) but dont know if he still is. Time is going to be the enemy here though so keep checking as it could take a little while to fill these requests.

Yeah, I'm happy with custom covers. When choosing a cover, I usually go with what looks best to me, rather than keeping them all as close to retail as possible.
I understand that with the long list of requests, plus other people requesting covers, it could take a long time to complete. I'm pleasantly surprised at how many have already been filled.

The cover for Melee should be on the site already.

There's only the NTSC original and Player's Choice covers. I'm after the original PAL cover. [Preferably Australian, but UK/Europe would be fine]

Oh, Grumbleduke, I also just noticed that on the spine of Haunted House, it says "Cartidge", and looking at Asteroids, Berzerk and Space Invaders, it's the same on those too. If you're able to fix that up for Haunted House, I can then just copy that onto the other ones I mentioned if you don't have the time to do them aswell.

The PAL version is the same as the other version, save for a couple of changes to the cover. And besides, you never specified that you wanted the PAL version of the cover in your request.

It's because of those changes that I'm requesting a PAL version. The spine differences especially are needed to help differentiate between my NTSC and PAL games.

Well i never noticed that on the 2600 !! Lish made the originals for this and the 7800 games and i noticed he had accidently put 'Cartidge' on those and fixed it. I will fix it up for Haunted House( and the template in general)  when i upload and should the option arise, i will fix the others in the database. Not something we can do at the moment.

River Raid (Very custom)

Made from the Colecovision version. If this is ok, i will upload this and Haunted House (fixed spelling mistake) and if i get a chance to finish it, Commando.
BTW Super Marioworld and Donkey Kong Country have PAL versions in the vert template in the SNES downloads section.

I forgot how much i had done so it did'nt take long to finish. :) BTW : I alltered the legals on the back slightly on the actual cover but cant be bothered to alter the Imandix.

I'm going to need a new bookcase soon at this rate.

I've finally managed to convince a friend of mine to sell me Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. So...

Grumbleduke, if you want to, and you have the time, could you make me custom covers using the below art please?

http://rapidshare.com/files/252606513/ESB_and_RotJ.rar.html

Also, is there a Shenske vertical-style template for Super Famicom games? I've just bought a few more, and was hoping there'd be a template to match my PAL and NTSC games.

EDIT: Just noticed that there is one. Excellent.

Super Empire Strikes Back (PAL/U.K)

Hope this fits the bill. Its quite an 'empty' piccie so i had probs positioning the logo. Still, it matches the movie poster look of the first game.

Thanks Grumbleduke. That's just what I was looking for. Can't wait to have this set printed out and on my shelf.

Super Star Wars : Return of the Jedi (PAL/U.K)

Ok, there is a certain amount of 'extra' artisitic license about this one. For one, i dont think there was a UK exclusive version of SSWROTJ so thats a biggie. And secondly the THQ logo is a modern version as its a better fit than the old one.Thirdly, there was no mention of LucasArts anywhere but in the legals but all the others had it so.... I added a couple of small bits to the front too (an X-Wing,Luke and Vader and the Deathstar)  as when i stretched it to keep the aspect ok, the sides were a little empty looking. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Well, I finally got my last box of games back from my sister, so I've updated the list [again], there shouldn't be any more games to add though. Oh, except a few when Shenske's N64 template is completed.
The list is rather long, sorry about that.

I'll try doing some myself in the next few days, but I use Paint Shop Pro so it depends on how well the templates will work. If I get adventurous I might download a demo of Photoshop and have a go with that.
Title: Re: Various Systems - Various Games
Post by: Zelimpdna on July 22, 2009, 10:49:38 AM
Well I've started on an NFL 2K2 cover for the Dreamcast, but I just don't feel... comfortable with Photoshop. Not sure if it's just because I've gotten so used to Paint Shop Pro, but Photoshop feels quite clunky, and features don't seem as naturally placed as they are in PSP. So at the moment I'm using Photoshop to get the main part of the template sorted out, then using PSP to do any "proper" editing. It's going quite slowly.

Things would be so much easier if Paint Shop Pro supported the layer groups of PSD files. Sifting through the entire list of layers trying to find the right ones for a specific region/colour is very time consuming.

Anyway, as I said, it's going slowly, but hopefully I'll have a cover I can use by the end of the week. Whether it'll be good enough for the site is another matter.

Nope, this is just 'Brian Lara Cricket'. I think '96 was the "sequel".
I did see in the garage sale thread that you got Gremlins 2 for the NES. I don't suppose you'd be able to either make a cover for that, or scan the front and back?

Gremlins came uncased BUT i do have a workable front scan so i will get around to it. Im a bit busy at home at the moment (fitting a new bathroom) so production is a little slow. ;)

Just a bump, and to add Eternal Sonata for the PS3. Australian ratings etc if possible. The retail cover would be fine, but with a 'colourful' spine like the Xbox 360 version has. I hate the look of the all-white spines with plain black text on them, so I want to replace it. Or, if you can find a usable version of it, this picture - http://rapidshare.com/files/282098553/trustybell005.jpg - as a custom. Not sure if there are any sufficiently high-res versions of it though.
