Post by: e_brugal on January 01, 2019, 09:49:34 AM
Well, seems like the community is still partying  :P

Wishing everyone the best for these new year, all the bad things that happened in 2018 will stay behind and this year will be much, much better.

Want to make a poll to see how was your new year party lol

Had to add correct option.
Had you asked on Boxing Day the chosen option would have been very strong 2! ;D
I think I have never drank so much (those who know me know that means crazy ammount).
But drunk was the rest of the party too.
I know I was drunk as normally I cannot stand hot food but now I drank a drink that was 50% hot tabasco sauce like it was water.

Happy New Year.

I celebrated with 6 kids under the age of 6 and 3 other adults.  So at about 12:01, I went back home and went to bed.

Worked all day, stayed up until about 11:00pm. I stopped caring about New Years about 15 years ago.  It’s basically an excuse to get drunk, which has long-lost its appeal.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I stayed home and took it easy. While I was working on my next cover, I heard lots of fireworks going off when midnight struck. I don't drink or smoke. I never have and never will. I also never cuss. It's very rare to find someone like me that doesn't do that. I'm looking forward to the annual video game events throughout 2019.

well that depends, here in the Dominican Republic the 24th me and my wife stayed in my parents house, ate Turkey, pork,  pasteles en Hoja (google it, don't know the name in english) and other thinks, and drank some wine.

the pork is a tradition here the 24th and the 31st like this

the 31st we stayed on my wife's family house,  we ate a traditional dish of the Dominican Republic (Sancocho, we eat this when the weather is cold or rainy), and drank some whisky. went to sleep at 2 am

Tryed to look what it was:

    1/2 taza ketchup
    1 cucharadita de salsa picante

Google translated it in to English (Mostly understanable but..):

For the filling
1/2 lb [0.23 kg] pound ground beef
     1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 small red onion, cut into very small cubes
1 green chili pepper, cut into very small cubes
     1/4 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon of salt (or more, to taste)
     1 tablespoon of oil
     1 cup of tomato sauce

For the mass
1/2 lb [0.23 kg] lb of yautia (malanga) = unknown Sweet Potato or Yam like thing
     1 green banana
     1 lb [0.46 kg] of armchair =Pumpking?
1/2 lb [0.23 kg] pound of yam
     1 teaspoon powder seasoning
     1 tablespoon of salt
     1/4 cup of milk

To wrap
     3 banana leaves
     6 sheets of baking paper
Thread (of the type used to tie the ham)

At your service
     1/2 cup ketchup
     1 teaspoon hot sauce

So it's some sort of pastry with vegetable cover and meat filling baked inside banana leaves?

Well that sounds WAY better than the US tradition of getting drunk and making poor decisions  :D

I also have never drank or smoked or even drank coffee. I don't like vegetables either. I was always told, "Your tastes change when you get older." Nope. Not for me. I'm about to be 43 and I love "kid" food like chicken nuggets, hot dogs, peanut butter sandwiches, etc. I get all my burgers with meat, cheese and lots of ketchup only. So, no, you aren't the only one. Although I do cuss, didn't when I was a kid though.
