Title: New Analogue Sega console
Post by: Megatron on October 16, 2018, 10:41:22 AM
Analogue, the company behind the super NT and the NT mini, has announced a Genesis/Mega Drive/ Master System console to go with their growing Library. Apparently this will play All Region Sega Genesis Mega Drive games, with an adapter for Master System. There will also apparently be optional adapters for sale that allow you to play the game Gear, Mark 3, or any other cartridge-based Sega system. It supports Sega CD and 32x if you have the hardware

Pretty cool.  I've often thought about converting my setup to run as much as possible through HDMI.  Nearly all Nintendo systems are there are this is getting us much closer to having all Sega systems there.

I'm not ready to make the leap yet, but maybe someday soon.

I wish they would tinker the thing to include 32-X or release their own module so one would not need to hunt down Japanese version and mod it.

Best of course would be if it was Mega Drive/Mega CD/32-X all in one console.

It supports Sega CD and 32x if you have the hardware
CD yes but currentlty 32-X no.

On side note I hope theuy release the NES one in plastic case so it would be bit more affortable.
I know there is the Retro USB console but it's 720P where as Analogue is 1080P.

I've been trying to pre-order it all morning but the site has been down.

Game Gear support is the biggest plus for me, as I don't have a readily-available solution to play those cartridges on anything BUT the original hardware. I'm very big on using original hardware everywhere I can (until they outright fail and it becomes prohibitively expensive to replace them), but the Game Gear is a butt and I'd prefer to play those games Super Game Boy-style. But I don't know if I could justify buying a brand-new system (plus whatever addon would be needed) just for Game Gear games.

I finally got it pre-ordered! The site is up!

Me too.  I was kind of surprised the site was down all day.  But I'm glad it's fixed.  Amazon has also now listed preorders for the controller.

Thank you kind Sir! I hadn't heard about this.

Game Gear support is the biggest plus for me
Agree. Actually I'm going to pick up a Retro Freak mostly for Game Gear (and Pc Engine/Turbo Grafx). Sure it's only emulation  :-\
So when Analogue releases the adapter for Game Gear I'll probably buy the Sg from them  :D

Ordered this too... altough 32X incompatibility is a minus.
Hopefully added later.

It should be easy enough to add the core. Unless they cut the resources on the board to the point where it can not provide the extra ram and processing needed.

Interesting.... now that my student loans are paid off... I definitely have money to spend again...  $190 is no longer a problem...

Will probably get a Genesis and SNES (but what colors?....).  Would love it if they re-released the NES in plastic.

It's odd to me that they won't release a cheaper, plastic version of the Analogue NT that would fit in line with the SNES and Genesis models they are offering.  However, if the NT is too expensive, I think it is generally accepted in the gaming community that the Retro USB AVS is an acceptable alternative for that price range.

If I do end up converting my systems over to HDMI, I would probably be looking at getting a Retro USB AVS to cover my NES and only going with Analogue for their SNES and Genesis systems.

Black.
Others looked pale.

My wish too exactly.

Only thing against AVS is that it's 720P, where as Analogue is 1080P.
Maybe it will be updated.

Also not big fan of the big top flap.

On the other hand AVX has front loading for NES carts... but I do have NES everdrive and my carts are stored away.

Adding to this:
I hope they also eventually release their own Mega CD system so we would have region free combo system with 1080P HDMI out.
Or maybe I'll just mod my MCD2 to be region free.

In agreement about the resolution and appearance advantages of the Analogue.  But the price difference still pushes me towards the Retro USB.  Also, the Retro USB has a short list of features that the Analogue doesn't have.  I just don't remember what those are off the top of my head.

Where's our Pizza man?  Any console mods on the AVX yet =P.

After Wiggy posted his clear SNES, I was also highly dissapointed in that.  I would love the retail colors, but it just looks strange.  Probably will end up getting:

Mega Sg - JPN1 - $189.99 (for the blue reset / red wordings)
Super Nt - Black1 - $189.99

Didn't it become nicely clear (looking like it was advertised to be) when sanded?

I went EU + Black.
Also ordered black MD wireless controller, and black and EU colored SNES controllers.
I might swap the EU color buttons to the black controller.

Mainly I'll be playing with ASCII SNES pad.
Just recieved cables that allow me to use it on SNES mini aswell.

I did some thinking and remembered Retro-Bits's Retroport adapter.
It should allow NES games to be played on Super NT.
You'll lose enhanced audio but otherwise all should be fine.

Is anyone considering the white one? I have to be honest, when I think of the Genesis I think of black...red...grey...any color but white. I like white systems, but I just can't imagine playing a white Sega Genesis.

The white one would probably look okay next to a Dreamcast or Japanese Saturn.

I probably won't be getting a hold of this guy anytime soon, but it seems super awesome! Game Gear and Sega CD support are amazing additions compared to other aftermarket hardware that has come out over the years, and the fact that it will be super accurate to the original hardware is even better! Great to see this section of the classic Sega library getting something this fantastic.

*painstakingly wet sanded and then polished.

But yes. It’s very clear now.

I ordered a white Sega clone thing because I know nobody else will.

I don’t really care though, as I’ll eventually end up making new housings for all of the Analogue units. I don’t particularly care for any of their designs, even with this new one being penned by some snooty design house.

I ordered the Japanese MD style colors. The red will still go well with all my US stuff, but the blue should bring it together with the few MD imports I've got, and any TecToy SMS games I might one day pick up. Now to go out and grab some Game Gear games for when the adapter comes out! ;D

I got the US-colored Super Nt last year. Zero regrets!
