Title: June- Summertime Surprises- What did you get?
Post by: marioxb on June 01, 2018, 02:52:59 PM
First time starting one of these threads. Tried to come up with a clever title. Anyway, here's what I got:

For a grand total of $5 at Toys R Us today.

The place I went to lunch today is across the street from a Goodwill so I decided to stop in.  I was surprised to find a bunch of Game Gear games.  Mostly common sports and Sonic titles, but I did find this little gem for $2 whole dollars.

Uht-oh!  Don't try and piss off the Arseen! Where is he at?  Wait... did he just learn what "outside" is?

Haha. Yeah, must have. I was surprised he didn't start a thread at whatever ungodly hour he usually does. And I didn't forget about your Game Saver cover. I scanned it, just need to upload.

1: Simply forgot it was June.
2: I go out on summer.
3: I start the topics at midnight or few hours after.

4: I'm playing Hyrule Warriors Definite Edition.
And I'm loving it.
So many "flaws" of the WiiU version were corrected, and it's nicer to play on TV than on 3DS.

5: And I could easily retreoactively make this topic mine... ;)

I was about to say that when Arseen isn't around, he is usually busy with a game.  He just about disappeared from the face of the Earth when Breath of the Wild came out.

Got these for a steal on ebay! Missing the old Pokemon games, they'll look great on my HDMI modded Gamecube.

Was out in KC over the weekend and hit up a bunch of Vintage Stocks mostly looking for stuff that's dried up around STL and was a good deal. Ended up with some pretty good stuff and the Nintendo book was free from a cool local bookstore we wondered into one night

It's been a super long time coming but I dropped the cash on a case of ugcs. Starting casing up my SNES connection. Ink is gonna cost a bit but I really think it's worth the result so far.

I didn't take a picture, but my Typoman arrived yesterday.  I started playing it last night and I'm really enjoying it.  I've been looking forward to this one for a while.

Thanks! I've been putting it off for ages since I didn't want to shell out the $ for shipping :(. But it's definitely worth it. Slowly gearing up to building a games room. All my games are stuffed into a wardrobe at the moment and I've lost track of what I've got.  Can't wait to have it all out on display.

I recently moved and got the chance to put everything into a single TV stand and bookcase, it's seriously the best feeling. So nice to be able to see everything you've collected out in one spot. Definitely something to look forward to.

I bought some old pc-games for my "new" win98/DOS machine. They advertised them as CD-Versions and I bought most of the games pictured for 3 Euros.

What I got... was not CD-Keepcases, like I thought, but BIG BOX PC GAMES! Most of them in PRETTY GOOD CONDITION, too :D
Tomb Raider I was a bit smashed (thanks DHL!) and the slipcover of Icewind Dale is not perfect anymore. Below that cover (the same with Outcast)
everything is in great condition.

Not pictured: American McGee's Alice.

ROFLMAO. I wish I could do that. It is not that I don't like him.... he just lacks motivation to go out and get his own life. This year he is 24 and still lives with me and his Mom, has no job, is not attending school currently, is only a sophomore when he should be at least a Junior with 4 years of slacking off in school, and to top it all off his Girlfriend from when he was 17 dumped him..... Nothing seems to get thru to him.

That's awesome! My wife and I did the exact same thing this past November, but Ohio to SC. Still don't know anyone here, except Coworkers. Didn't have any jobs, just wanted to move away from the cold. So I don't think the wife would like WA much, possibly colder than OH. Lol.

My pickups from my business trip to Louisville.  Nothing super crazy, but everything was cheap and I thought the Breeder's Cup World Thoroughbred Championships was really fitting since I was in Louisville.

These games put me at exactly 1,999 games.  I figure I want to make game 2,000 special so I'm waiting until I find something interesting.

I appreciate it, but I was there for work, so my free time was pretty limited.  Basically, after dinner, I stopped by a few places I knew about and that was it.

Only a few  gaming related pick ups this month, but one of them is FUCKING AWESOME! (if you're into a certain area of collecting...)

"What's that?

(http://i782.photobucket.com/albums/yy106/gameathlon/IMG_20180616_112248_zpsonhfjv5g.jpg) (http://s782.photobucket.com/user/gameathlon/media/IMG_20180616_112248_zpsonhfjv5g.jpg.html)

Is it the only other game you wanted for PGM 2?"

Oooh yes

I honestly thought I'd never see this below £450 outside of a specialist arcade board shop,  so finding it for £190 on eBay, you're damn right I clicked buy-it-now! Took a few days to get here, all the way from sunny Greece, but I'm happy to finally have it!

Some rather significant/cool pickups lately. Finally got a Minish Cap GBA SP.  I’ve dearly wanted one since they were released (and nobody would sell me one because I was outside of Europe). A seriously awesome Shadow of the Colossus JP LE for the PS4. Shenmue 2 NTSC DC repro with English dialogue. A slew of titles from Mega Cat Studios who we (RCG) are collaborating with on a regular basis. A retrofighters controller for the N64. Just finished up a run of these display stands for them. Such a fantastic upgrade I’ve rthe wonky original N64 controllers. They seemed so great back in 1996, but they have NOT aged well IMO.

Inside the SotC set
(http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k99/wiggyx/C5D9CFD1-0C4C-42AD-87DF-D93FA0863E02.jpeg)

The owner of Mega Cat and I met at the very inception of RCG and have been working towards collaborating ever since. He also owns an electronics recycling business (which is where most of his income comes from). While I was down for a visit yesterday he and I walked through the warehouse for some high class trash picking. This is a tiny sample of what I got. A slew of far larger and more substantial items will be delivered by truck in a few weeks. All of this stuff works BTW.

Crestron (like Extron, but I’m told is better) AV selector.
A couple of tiny PCs that’ll make great emulation consoles.
A larger, but still small PC that’ll likely find it’s way into a mini arcade machine of some sort
A few monitor mounts
A 30 count box of nice heatsink-backed PC fans (no idea why I took them)
Funny camera for projecting documents and such on to a monitor/projector

Industrial power strip (these things are like $400 new!) and massive soldering mat

Not that I’ve ever particularly wanted one, but I now have a really nice condition Sony PVM

And finally what was supposed to be a box of some GBC replacement shells that turned out to be roughly 2/3 actual GBC consoles (37 complete consoles).  He didn’t even know that he had them.  Oops!  Trying to figure out if I’m going to end up buying them from him, or send them back. Definitely a lot more valuable than ~60 Chinese shells.

Cool stuff wiggy, I checked out Mega Cat Studios games at MGC this year.  Think I played some Log Jammers lol

First off, a cool thing came in the mail on Friday. I had a saved eBay search for an Adventure of Link manual as my re-release version had the wrong one with it and this popped up. It's a pretty nice CIB Canadian copy. It wasn't listed as such and made no mention of it in the listing. Ended up getting it for a pretty good price :D

Secondly, some flea market finds. Animaniacs was a cool find as its kind of an uncommon game. The strategy guides were a $1 each and Comix Zone is an upgrade (No, no CD). Also took advantage of the Sony sale to trade up to a new DS4 for $16 at GameStop.

Forgot to post this.  A coworkers good friend had her son pass away a little bit ago and was cleaning up his stuff and wanted to know if he knew anyone that could use this.  So I got it.  Sad how I got it but he and the mother both said at least it is going to someone who will appreciate it.

No Picture, but I got a few old DOS/Win98 Games the last few days (The whole Monkey Island-Series, Master of Orion 2, Civilization und Theme Park).
Also I bought the PC Versions of Final Fantasy 7 and 8, after living with a burned copy of 8 for way too many years... yeah.

Funny story... my Theme Park World for PC exploded into tiny pieces and the TWO different sellers I bought a new version from both shipped me the
Playstation-Version, even though they clearly marked it as a PC Game.... ._.

Some pickups from the weekend. First off, put together a buy 3 get 1 free deal. Spy Fiction just got that MetalJesus bump so a local store still had it for cheap. The Tower is sealed and a more uncommon GBA game. The Rayman variant was free and will be flipped. Toys R Us had about 500 copies of Sunset Overdrive still so I took one off their hands and said my goodbyes. Also the new NIN album came in the mail.

Went on a day trip Saturday and stopped by a cool "junk store". Found SOS, Ghosthunter, and the Frogger marquee there. On the way home, stopped by another game store and found The Red Star which I had been looking for for a while.

Best deal I’ve ever found in gaming  :o

For anyone who doesn’t know what this game is worth, it typically goes for $450+.

I didn’t even read the description before buying it. Even if it was just the case, it would steal be more than worth it.  It’s missing the manual, which is most definitely NOT worth $400 to me :P

It was listed by Yamatoku-Classic, an eBay seller who’s been around for a LONG time and has sold this same game at auction on several occasions. They know what it’s worth, so I can’t figure out why they listed it for 4% of the typical value.  It shipped yesterday. Here’s to hoping that the USPS doesn’t lose or crush it into oblivion...

Score man! I know nothing about the 64DD, but that's a hell of a steal. And it's going to a good home too.

Nice Wiggy.  I don't follow that stuff, but I know that you have a nice 64DD collection, so it's definitely going to a good home.

Sounds like a 90s computer with the fan inside that never wants to kick off, but we were playing N64 games all last night (Project64 emulator).  Couple graphical issues in Mario Tennis, but it played great!

Anyone want to make an all in one USB selector for retro games LOL.  Using a PS4 controller to play N64 was strange.

Yeah, was a Club Nintendo JP exclusive.  They also have one more exclusive with tingle I just ordered today.  Now I have all 3 CN JP exclusives.

What was the other one with Tingle?  I only know of 3 Tingle games.  Balloon Fight, Rosy Rupeeland, and Balloon Trip.

theres definitely more than just 3 club nintendo japanese exclusives with a quick search i found game and watch collection 1 then game and watch collection 2 and a game called zekkyou senshi sakeburein that alone makes 3 though i cant find any information if those were actually JUST club nintendo branded or if they were actually exclusive nor can i find a list of ds club nintendo games

The G&W came out here in US also.  We never got the balloon fight or the other one Zekkyou game (multiplayer only btw).  These two were CN exclusive and was the only way to get them as far as I know.

My mistake. I thought the other two tingle games were CN but after a bit of research I was incorrect.

Yes.
And the quality is so high that you can't tell it's a repro.
Once I find my scanner's cable I'll scan the box, the label and the manual.

Well that's a thing.

the clear acrylic really isn't doing him any favors with that build.  Glue goobers abound (which is expected, but I would have at least painted the acrylic, if not used an opaque color).

As far as making one of those, definitely not.  I've got enough stupid projects already :P
