Title: Done- Lunar/Lunar2/Vay/Popful Mail-Sega CD-NA-HQ-Raw Scan
Post by: k_huntington on April 23, 2018, 04:41:47 AM
i have no idea if i'm doing this right. directions say don't request retail covers, go to wiki, then it says wiki is dead, use forum. so if this is the wrong place, mods please send to the right subforum :)

anywho, my request is somewhat simple and to the point:

i would like to have raw 600ppi scans of the front/back of booklet (preferably flattened, 1 image), and the full side to side tray insert, of all 4 working design games for sega cd:
-Lunar
-Lunar 2
-Popful Mail
-Vay

scans do not have to be cropped to image border, they can be completely raw scans. all the ones i keep finding are downsampled :( if someone can work these 8 images out for me, i'm working on a huge project and hope to repay the community back. :D thanks!

Those games have metal Foiling in the cover. Really hard to scan. I would suggest just going with a custom cover.

You should check out ratigators.com It's ran by someone who used to post here a lot and has all of the Sega CD games and Saturn games scanned if I'm not mistaken.

@k_huntington, if you do decide to go custom, I have the Japanese versions I could scan... (if ratigators doesn't have them...)

yeah i was hoping to have the foil effect with those 4. i was thinking if the scan was high enough PPI it would be able to translate that affect somewhat ok. ratt's website is fantastic, but the scans are not all that high res from what i could see. they were about 200 ppi :(

I got the two Lunar's and Vay I could try scanning.

I actually made a full replacement cover and back for Popful Mail for myself a while back using rat's scans.  They turned out pretty good if you are just trying to make covers.

Popful Mail front: https://app.box.com/s/aaagtosb5rxvb08w6okexme9hj2gsx9p

Popful Mail back: https://app.box.com/s/2etw8r1a7729vabwk3vwi5khr5hc048y

EDIT: It just occurred to me you might not be getting to his full sized scans...  you have to do some modification to the url to get to them.

for example, here is the preview link for Vay: http://www.ratigators.com/scans/scan.preview.cache.asp?h=550&s=0&q=/scans/segacd/Vay%20(USA)/Vay%20(USA)%2001.jpg

and here is the full scan link: http://www.ratigators.com/scans/segacd/Vay%20(USA)/Vay%20(USA)%2001.jpg

BOOM! now we are in business. thanks!! that works wonders. lol. one would think if you choose "open link in new window" the image you are looking at would be full resolution from the server. ah well.

Yeah, it took me a bit to realize how to get to the full scans a while back.  No worries!
