Title: Console measurements questions
Post by: Tech13 on February 23, 2018, 11:11:15 AM
As the 25 year old living in my basement gets ready to fly from the nest, I find myself excited to create my Game room finally.

I have lots of research and know almost every measurement except one. I need the height clearance of a SNES model one (not the JR) with a game and Game genie. I would do it myself but that stuff is in storage at the moment.

I an measure that this evening if no one beats me to it.

Are you trying to plan out your console setup?  Don't forget to leave room for a Genesis on top of a model 1 Sega CD, with a 32x on top with a Game Genie, with a copy of Sonic & Knuckles with a copy of Sonic 3.

Make sure to think about the Super Gameboy as well. I'm not sure if it's taller than the game genie or not.

That tower will never work as cleaning kit has no board. ;)

The Sega Power Base Converter caused it to not work well before we got to the cleaning kit.  8)

Still though, he asked for measurements, you gotta take in account for shenanigans like this.

Measurements don't take into account the room needed to put a game in, so for the SNES + Game Genie you requested, add at least an extra inch or so.  The Super Game Boy is shorter than the Game Genie, so if you make room for the GG, you are good with the Super Game Boy.  The last one is just for fun.

6"   SNES + Super Game Boy

8"   SNES + Game Genie

13" SNES + Game Genie + Super Game Boy + Game Boy Game Genie

That absolutely floors me that the Super Gameboy is shorter! I always mentally thought of it as at least an inch taller.

I don't know what you are talking about.

Here is the ruler I used.  Been using it for years.
