Title: Super NT Mini announced
Post by: Hesch on October 16, 2017, 10:08:41 AM
Analogue has announced the Super NT Mini. An FGPA based system that emulates the SNES/SFC. 1080p output, zero lag, perfect hardware emulation for the entire SNES/SFC library. Best part? It's not $4-500 like the NT Mini was. Only $190 for this one.

Ordering one for sure once I saved enough dough.

They need to bite the bullet and release the NT Mini at the same price point.

That's a much more reasonable price! I'm a little bummed that the only connector is HDMI (so no Super Scope games) but I'm otherwise impressed.

Well it would need to be plastic for that to happen, and not dependent upon Famicom donors.

What’s the point?  If you want analog output, then just use an actual snes.

I'll look into one of these things when my Trinitron dies and I can't find a replacement, or when my SNES dies and I can't find a replacement. I honestly think this looks like a great aftermarket SNES in a world where the number of good CRTs continues to drop.

I did not think the Nt mini used donor parts. The original Nt was the one that that did. If I am not mistaken the Nt mini is FPGA like the Super Nt.  It would have been nice if they did an aluminum case that matched the style of the Nt.

No one said the NT Mini used donor parts. It's definitely FPGA. And if they did the aluminum case, this thing would cost $4-500. Hell no.

Yeah, but that's just Wiggy. It's not like anyone pays attention to him

I only have limited space for my game systems, so it would be nice if this NT Mini could just replace the SNES on my shelf. But since it can't play light gun games, I'd need to dig out the old system whenever I wanted to play them. It's only a small issue but that was the point I was making.

But you'd still need a CRT with a non-digital signal processor, so having a console with a digital output would be pointless and you may as well stick with original hardware.

I have two TVs next to each other, A CRT and an HD, with a finite amount of space for my game systems below them. It would be easy enough to wire the NT to both televisions and switch between the two depending on what game I'm playing.

The loss of the Super Scope Six is a price that MOST are willing to pay.  ;)
