Hello,
I have been searching the forums for Horizontal English covers for Dragon Quest I & II, Dragon Quest III, Dragon Quest V, and Dragon Quest VI. I recently came into some translated repros and I real;ly would like them to match my other games in being horizontal. If anyone has these or would be able to make them i would be super grateful.

I thought this would be a fun challenge so I made you a cover for Dragon Quest I & II. The scans I had to work with weren't great, and if anyone shares better ones I'll replace the artwork. I based the layout of the icons and legal text on US Enix games like EVO and Actraiser. The description text is translated from the back of the Japanese release and the flavor text is from the US NES releases. I'll probably give the other ones a try as well if I can find nice enough box art. Enjoy!

Thank you SOOOOO MUCH this looks awesome. I hope you are able to do the others as well if they turn out this good

I finished putting together a cover for DQ3 for you. It looks like the artwork for the next game is going to be a challenge to fit into the template but I'll give it a go.

You are magic!

It was pretty difficult to track down good art for this one, but I still think it turned out pretty good. One more to go!
EDIT: I have corrected the spine and reuploaded the cover.

I think you can use the SFC cover for this and this website has one.

I'm glad you like them. I'm working on the last one now, but the vertical artwork has been a pain to adapt.
And to anyone who has downloaded my Dragon Quest V cover, please download the new version I have linked in the post above. The first one had part of the DQ3 logo on the spine.

I looked at those, but ended up using a UGC cover from elsewhere online because I liked the colors better, but the quality is the same. I cut the images on the back out of a high quality scan of the manual I found at Dragon's Den. Thanks though banisher!
I've started on the Dragon Ball Z 5 in 1 cover you requested, by the way. I just have to figure out what to put on the back for description text. Any ideas?

A brief description of each game will work. Also, just wondering are you still working on retail cover?

Problem is, I don't know anything about Dragon Ball Z or the games, so I'm not sure what an appropriate description would be. I'll figure something out.
Of course I am still working on the SNES retail project, but only when I'm not fulfilling new requests or working on my own covers. I've already uploaded 4 retail covers this month (plus 4 non-retail SNES covers). Currently I have a half-finished cover for Suzuka 8 Hours sitting in Photoshop.

These loom great on my games! thanks again

I'm glad to hear that! It's always nice to know a cover I've made is actually being used by someone. I've got DQ6 mostly done. I'm not really satisfied with the front cover, but there is only so much that can be done with vertical artwork in a horizontal template. I'll try and get it done later this week.

I was feeling motivated this evening so finished off the last cover. I still don't love how the logo obstructs the dragon's snout, but I really couldn't find a different arrangement that works. If anyone has a different idea, by all means, let me know! The description text is a translation from the Japanese, and the flavor text is from the US NDS release. The logo isn't as crisp as some of the other covers, but I couldn't track down a nice PNG logo online this time. Overall, it's not my best work, but I was bound by the material I had on hand. Enjoy!

I actually may have the original box for the super famicom version if scanning that could help in some way

The two issues I encountered with this cover were the vertical layout of the original box, which made it impossible to fit the artwork and the logo in the horizontal space I had to work with; and the difficulty finding a logo with a transparent or solid colored background. The logos on the original box could be cut out, but it would be really time consuming, and frankly I didn't want to spend hours doing it.
A fresh scan of the box won't really help with either of these problems. I'll still be stuck with the same vertically oriented box art, and the logo will still be a pain in the rear to isolate. If someone else wants to cut the logo out for me, I'd be happy to replace the low quality one already on the cover, but I really don't want to spend the time doing it myself. Thanks for the offer though jackers. And my apologies for the disappointing final cover, I wish I had been able to make something better but I'm afraid this one stretched beyond my abilities.

Oh it is not dissapointing! my games will still look beautiful. Thank you sooooo much for your assistance with these!

You're welcome! I'm the one who's disappointed with it, but the original art just wouldn't fit into the horizontal template. Anyway, if I manage to track down a better logo I'll update the cover. Overall, making these covers was a fun challenge and a refreshing change of pace from the SNES covers I typically create.
