Title: Xbox Live Indie Games officially closes 29th September
Post by: tylerbgood on September 13, 2017, 11:24:58 AM
I'm not sure how many people here collect digital games, but Xbox has announced (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-09-08-xbox-live-indie-games-officially-closes-29th-september) they are shutting down the XBL Indie Games program at the end of this month. I'm picking up a bunch that have been on my wishlist before they're gone forever.

Games worth checking out:

Boot Hill Heroes
Apple Jack
Apple Jack 2
Jamsouls
Astroman
Arcadecraft
NYAN-TECH
Cthulhu Saves the World
Breath of Death VII
Blocks that Matter
Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3
Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 4

Keep in mind that most of these have a PC version on Steam now. It looks like the only two I listed that have remained exclusive to Xbox are NYAN-TECH and Astroman.

Shutting it down as in the games won't be available anymore, or as in they won't be adding new games?

They stopped allowing new games a year ago, and they are removing all XBL Indie Games from the store on the 29th. The games you have bought will still be available to download, but you will be unable to view or purchase any game not already on your account.

I had really hoped they would make physical copies of more of the Xbox Arcade and Indie stuff.  Guess that's not going to happen.

This is why I prefer physical over digital.  :(
