:'(

Sorry :(

I traded for Jotun and Hyper Light Drifter. Two games that I actually want to play, versus have sitting on my shelf for the rest of eternity.  I never sell LRG releases. Any extras that I ever acquire go straight to the trade pile. Figure it's better than someone having to pay scalper prices.

So I think I just scored a one heck of a deal. Said to be in working order, just needs a battery for the game pad (which I didn't think these required, since they're wired). Either way, it sure ain't a deal breaker. Not by a long shot.

Very cool.

I would love to someday complete my Wii U kiosk, but with the long list of missing items, I think it's pretty unlikely.  I'm also surprised to hear about the battery.  Are you sure the seller just isn't wrong about it?  I remember reading a very detailed article on a website that I've long since lost the link for, showing a pretty substantial breakdown of the demo unit and showing the insides of the demo game pad.  I don't remember seeing any type of battery in that article, but that was a while ago.

Hey wiggy, just a heads up, those pics are from an assemblergames.com thread from 2015. Hopefully it's just the same guy reusing his old photos of the unit, but I thought I'd give you a heads up anyway. Here's the link: https://assemblergames.com/threads/wii-u-dev-unit.58951/

Pick ups from the weekends.

Finally found a copy of Tube Slider (Terrible name I know).  It's missing the manual but it's a hard one to find and was a good price.  Also found a nice, complete copy of Contra 4 at GameStop of all places.

Few more pick ups.  Grabbed a copy of The Wild West for DS since everyone has been talking about it.

Crap, this is the sort of thing I was afraid of.  He printed a shipping label like an hour after I paid for it yesterday.  Guess we'll see, but I'm not feeling confident at this point :(

edit: The guy who sold it to me (or at least I presume, based on the similarities between his assembler handle and ebay user ID) made a post in that thread about a week ago asking what to do with it.

Hello and  My friend gave me a Wii U console He had Extra for Free and I'm not Sure What it is. I have a black 32gb one already but he gave it to me for helping him out since he was low on cash. It's a little old from 2 yrs back and was used as a Gamestop Demo Model but other then that it's all I know. looking @ the Pictures above it sort of looks like that one but need Conformation of what it is and What can I do with it. I took a picture of it with a not so good Cellphone Camera since it was all I had and please excuse the quality. Can anyone answer my question it's not Rocket Sciences.  WHAT can I do with this Model Wii U. I have no uses for it but I don't want to throw it away either.

The ebay seller's name is "mauriceb1984", has 100% positive feedback, and has been a member since 2008.  He posted one crummy cell phone pic in the thread, which is likely why he didn't bother to take new pics, but the pic he took does confirm that it's the same, if not VERY similar unit.  I'm gonna guess that his phone's crummy camera was the reason that he didn't take any of his own pics for the auction.  We'll see, but I definitely feel a lot less sketchy about it after looking into it.

That's odd.  It looks identical to the units that were used in the kiosk units.  I especially recognize the wire running from the game pad to the Wii U.  While I don't have either the console or the game pad for the kiosk, I do have that wire which is identical to the one in the picture.

But I don't know anything about the development units, so, they might have used the same type of equipment and connectors.  Best of luck with it working out.  I would be interested in know more about it once you get it.

It may end up being a kiosk unit. I'm not really sure, which is based on the fact that the seller is clearly not sure. Either way, it's a deal and I'm not gonna complain.

Definitely agree.  While the kiosks have been pretty easy to snag up based on some of the threads I've been following at NA (luckily lots of units ended up in the hands of collectors), very few of them have included the actual demo consoles.  It seems that while Nintendo was not very specific on what to do with the actual kiosk units, they were VERY STRICT on sending the demo consoles back to Nintendo (and cutting the cords in the process :( ).

Any chance that the Wii Remote and Nunchuk are included as well?  Like the game pad and console, they are unique to the kiosk units.

Finally got something that I have wanted for a very long time.  A TV Out modded Game Gear!  I had the work done by RetroMachineRepair on ebay.  It's using a Tim Worthington board and the seller did a great job on the whole thing.  Even got a few extra free games thrown in!  Time to finally start playing through some Game Gear games!  Check out the video:

It's a really cool little game and way over looked since it's on the Game Gear.  It was a lucky find from a comic convention years ago.

Well, it finally happened. I've been an eBay member for 3 days shy of 15 years and I finally got my first bad experience.  I ordered a copy of Half Life for PS2 (which I mentioned in another thread that I'm looking forward to playing next).  The listing described the game as "complete" and in "very good" condition.  Sure enough, I received it disc only with plenty of scratches.  The seller claims, "no returns," but I know better than that.  I already started the returns process.  I had my doubts with the auction, but I'm confident enough in eBay's return policy that I wasn't too worried.  The crappy part is now I will have to wait a lot longer before I can start the game.  It's just frustrating, but at least I've had pretty good luck for almost 15 years.

Definitely! I was lucky enough to grab a copy on eBay a few months back with the manual for decent price. But I don't have a video-out modded Game Gear, so I made myself a repro copy of the Game Gear to Master System conversion to play on the TV.

And seeing your video reminded me I needed to make a cover for my Game Gear copy. Since EU Game Gear manuals are the same size as Master System manuals, I slapped my cart and manual in an extra Master System case I had lying around and threw together a nice cover with some high-res scans I found a while back. Just gotta print it and she'll be nice and purdy on my shelf! ;)

Wow!  15 years and this is you FIRST bad experience?!  That's some sort of miracle  :o

You'll totally get your money back. I don't even look at feedback anymore. Don't know why anyone does really. If the seller screws up, eBay sides with the buyer 99.9% of the time.

Right.  I'm not worried about getting my money back.

On the bright side, I posted my same story on another group and someone had an extra copy of Half Life that they didn't need.  I ended up trading him an extra copy of New Super Mario Wii that I found at a garage sale.  It's much more fun trading with another collector than it is buying off eBay.

Quick update.  I got my money back today.  I still haven't received a return shipping label.  When I go to My eBay, it says the return is "complete."  Does that mean the seller isn't requesting the item to be returned?  I don't want to somehow lose my refund because I didn't send the item back.  However, I'm assuming that since the game is basically worthless since it's disc only (and the disc doesn't even read), he doesn't want to waste money paying to ship it back.  So I'm assuming that I'm done with this.

If they've already refunded you, then you're done. Otherwise they'd withhold the refund until tracking says the return was delivered.  The seller likely just declined the return of the item, since he'd be responsible for the shipping cost, and he obviously knows the disc ain't worth much of anything.

Big thanks to Azarkhel for helping me acquire this AU only red DSi XL. As best I can tell, this completes my DSi XL/LL collection. Time to build a display case :D

I have a feeling that the seller knew the game was no good and figured he would try to sell it just to see what happens.  If the buyer keeps it, he makes some money.  If the buyer complains, he gives a refund and he is only out a disc that didn't work in the first place.

Not saying I don't like it, it's pretty cool. But at first glance, I thought the "C" and the "R" were a "Q".
Same here.

So here's my question then. Is it distracting?  As in does it detract from its usefulness as a brand identifier?

I think it is a fine logo, but I don't think it is on the same level as the products that Rose Colored Gaming is now know for.

Changing a logo is always going to be a tough thing, especially for a relatively young brand.

I don't see a Q.  But......I did prefer the old logo.  Nothing at all wrong with this one, it's modern and punchy - but the old one seemed more 'premium'.

Some Sega pickups.  I'd never played Tempest 2000 until I just got it this week.  It's a pretty fun game, though it would be amazing with a spinner controller.

I also liked the old Rose Colored Gaming logo better. Maybe because I got used to seeing it so often in Wiggy's posts? I do feel like the new one may be a bit too simple, I don't hate it though. Never saw the "Q" until people mentioned it BTW.

You're picture isn't showing up. Photobucket charges money to share photos now.

Didn't know that.  I can see my picture on this thread - I guess nobody else can see it though.  Any suggestions for a good free photo hosting site that works here?  I tried Imgur but the photo didn't show up.

Anyway, the pickups were Tempest 2000, Sega Ages, Clockwork Knight & Sega Touring Car Championship for U.S. Saturn, plus Ghouls & Ghosts and Streets of Rage 3 for Genesis.

I know people have got imgur to work, it can be tricky figuring out the right link to use though. I use mediafire myself, and I know some members have switched to PostImage and imgbb as well. I've seen people using their Google Drive and OneDrive accounts to host images too.

After Photobucket went to shit I switched to Imgur.  So much better.  Resizing is so simple, Just put an "l".
Here:
So if you image URL is https://i.imgur.com/9ZC02Os.jpg, you simply add the l to the image name: https://i.imgur.com/9ZC02Osl.jpg. Now your image is a large thumbnail! (640×640 pixels)
Thats what I do.

Finally  got a component_audio switch (4 inputs). Even feels like a retro setup box with the red lightto identify the active port.

I finally got my V2 of the Pelican System Selector Pro off ebay. I've had a V1 since they first released it, but never got the 2nd version that was much nicer. Naturally I get it, and not all the ports work. So now I get to try and troubleshoot it myself, with my limited knowledge, or find someone that has enough knowledge to help me track down the problem. I opened it, and it's super clean on the inside, and I don't see any burst caps or anything, but I'm not getting signal through several of the inputs. Really need to find someone local that can help me figure this thing out, because it'll be amazing once I can get it working. It's even got an IR sensor on it so I may be able to control it with my Harmony setup.

Here's what it looks like:

Honestly, if it's not working right, I would consider returning it through eBay while you still can.  If you can get it working, great, but I wouldn't count on it.

Did the seller say it didn't work in the listing?  If not, return it.

All it says is powers on and untested. I'd have to pay for shipping both ways and a "15% restocking fee". Got it for $37, and shipping to me was $16. Doesn't seem like there's any benefit to returning it, since that $37 would be eaten by shipping and what not. Unless there's something I don't understand, which is entirely possible since I almost never eBay.

Someone who is more familiar with the eBay return policy should chime in, but just because the seller claims "no returns" or "restocking fees" doesn't mean much of anything.  The PS2 game I just bought was listed as "no returns," but I still got my money back and if the seller had wanted the game back (he didn't) he would have been paying for the return shipping.

Your situation is a little different however, because the seller listed it as untested.  I'm not sure if that covers him or not.  My game was listed and "complete" and in "good condition" so the seller had no leg to stand on.
Title: Re: September 2017 Pickups

"Untested" is how sellers get around the eBay return policy when selling broken stuff.  Typically "untested" means buy at your own risk. If the listing gave any indication that the unit may not work correctly, I think it covers them from eBay guarantee.  However, as TDI already stated, if they list something one way and it comes different, then you can open a case and resolve it.

Didn't realize Lili was released on the PS4. I have it for iOS and enjoyed the bit of it I played. That was a couple years ago and I totally forgot it was in my library. I should really get myself a iOS gamepad and a Apple TV or something so I can play all the games I've acquired on the big screen.

Just an FYI, the Wal-Mart clearance prices in the St. Louis area are pretty inconsistent.  I certainly don't doubt the price Bear paid, but it might not be the same price at all stores.  We have the same issues with clearance prices at Target.

It is a nationwide thing.  Also remember that City Target prices are different from Target and the sales are not always the same.

Looking online at various Walmarts online, I see it for $9, $20, $40, 49.00. Crazy, and it's mostly only the Wii U one. That's what I want anyway, but the guitars are universal this time. (except the dongle, if there is one.)

Yeah, there is actually a sticker on mine that says $49.99.  I guess the store finally got tired of them sitting around and marked them down to $5.  The clerk in the Electronics area said some of the employees bought a couple to flip on ebay.

Do you mind saying which one it was?  I was just at the GC Walmart and they didn't have much of anything.  All of their "clearance" stuff was pretty expensive.  I'm not really to eager to get Guitar Hero, but fort $5, I would probably grab one.

Picked up my preorder for Metroid: Samus Returns CE, the GS Keychain preorder bonus and the amiibo 2-pack

I only preordered the game from GS to get the Keychain, did not want the CE too much. I have the GCU from Bestbuy so I tend to buy there for the 20% off but once i had it in hand i just decided to keep it.

Fun so far, did not get too far yet. Only complaint is the perry move is a tad to slugish, making timing it difficult.

Regarding Guitar Hero Live, I think every Target has em for every system for $11.98 now. They may be marked 19.99 (which is still pretty good), but for me, rang up 11.98. This was both in Ohio and Florida, so chances are pretty good to get it for 12 bucks. Not as good as Bear's $5.00, but pretty decent price. The battery packs were marked down to 12 or 13 also (may be cheaper, I didn't scan em), but ebay has those for about 5 bucks too.

2 of my SNES Mini orders arrived today.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Everyone around here is talking about camping out Thursday night to be there Friday morning, but I'm just gonna stroll in on my lunch break and pickup my pre-order.

I live in a fairly small area. As long as I get there a few hours early, I should get one.

They are saying these should be regularly stocked, so I assume the same availability as Switch. That being said, I'm still going to Walmart at around 10pm and waiting until midnight.

I actually took a day off so I can go camp (first experience!). No store opens before 8/9AM here, so it might be a painful wait.
That being said, I also have a shipment from FNAC (EU) which is on is way. So worst case I'll play with the EU unit next week :)

I picked up my pre-order SNES Classic on my lunch break today.  I will get a picture of it when I can sit next to my NES Mini.  They will make a cute couple.

Tis indeed.

Don't know if any of you folks have played the version that has been on the web forever, but IMO, the new ROM is weak when compared to it. The removed the lock-on feature, which makes the charges shot nearly useless, which in turn makes the characters who's shots charge faster (but are much weaker) pointless. Fucking lame.

Couldn't agree with you more wiggy. I couldnt begin to understand why Nintendo would think that was a good idea. I always say "for every good idea Nintendo has, a stupid one follows".

But give the hackers some time and I'm sure they'll find a way to get it back in there! And that's when I'll bother replacing my current Starfox 2 repro with a new one.

I'm happy to hear it's not just me. What a drag, eh?  The bootleg carts are better than what Nintendo finally dumped on us 20 years later. Ugh.

Didn't know they had box protector's for those.  Since the SNES box is the same size, I might have to grab two.

I'm more used to the American SNES design, but I do love the Japanese design as well. I think if I was to get a Super Famicom shell and controllers with colored buttons (aka the same as the PAL design) I'd get the Japanese (October 5th release) over the PAL. Then I'd have the Japanese versions of Star Fox 2 and the others, plus Mystical Ninja, Super Soccer, Super SF2, Fire Emblem and Tetris Attack. But, I guess I'd settle for a PAL if nothing else.

I'd prefer the SFC as well. I have zero nostalgia for the EU SNES, versus the SFC, which I actually owned in 1990 and was the first import console that I owned.

Yeah they're great. I love being able to display them and not give a second thought to potential damage.

Ill take a picture of them both with protectors (I have 2x of the protector boxes).

As for EU SNES vs SFC... isn't it the same thing... just a different language / games?  which really doesnt matter, as they can be hacked?

Well one says SFC and the other SNES, not to mention the packaging.

If it's a question of hacking, why buy any of them. You can play all these game on your phone, or pretty much any PC or modern game console via hacking.

I think the point is to have every variant.

Well you're more of a variant collector. I know for me, it's about having  not only 30~ games legally, but having a badass emulator box when I'm not feeling so legal.

Speaking of emulation... I wonder how many SNES Classic Minis it woud take to emulate all genuine SNES games (one version per game) and best rom hacks.

I don't quite understand what you mean. If the SNES mini is hacked the way the NES mini was, couldn't you put ALL the games on 1 console?

There's only 512mb of flash memory, and my friend's NES Classic wouldn't take the entire US released library. There are ways to do it with compression though, which I'll have to try. MDFManiac I think his name is, on Reddit is pretty much an expert at that.

You understood correctly, but you overlooked one thing:
As there are quite many games and they are bigger than NES games is there enough memory to have all games in one console or do you need multiple. ;)

If this is the case, no way can you fit all games.
I wonder could the flash memory be upgraded.

I made a mistake, it's actually 512MB, but that's not much better. There are still ways to do it though, as you can see here:

I believe Captain America is one of the rarest GB games out there.  Got it for a good price too.

Target's gearing up for holiday stock it seems, so lots of stuff going on clearance.

A gift from a friend. Enjoying it so far, though I HATE using analog controls when the movement is strictly go-no go. That dead space is so annoying and it makes the game feel sluggish, even though it's just the dumb controls >:(
