Hello all, I have a request from an ebay member that helped provide PAL scans of Ultimate Stuntman. He pointed out that we have the PAL-B version of the Mario Bros. (http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=10324) Classic Arcade, but we do not have the PAL-A Version.

Also I have a request. I need the cover for the original Mario Bros (not super) on the NES but the ones you have aren't what I need.
You have the US, PAL and JAP versions but the PAL version is the PAL B box.
I am after the PAL A box released by Mattel with dual Italian and English on the front. Do you think it would be possible to source this version too?

It shouldn't be too hard to recreate this PAL-A box, one would think.

I decided this would be a fun challenge and am working on the cover. Shenske's cleaned up cover actually needs quite a bit of work itself. There's a lot of dust still present and the back text is pretty rough, so I'm reworking pretty much the entire cover. I'll let you know how it goes!

I remade most of the "icons" for the Series. I need to find where I put those, and I'll post it for you. Any icon I have ever really spotted has been crappy, so figured it would be good on my off time months ago to do that. Ill keep you posted.

I'm glad I checked this thread because I was just about to start remaking the "Arcade Series" icon!
Here's what I've got so far. Everything you see has been recreated from scratch. It was a tricky job tracking down the font for the "The Original/L'originale" text, as it's different from the US box font. After skewing and warping the image, I traced the shapes of the first few characters and then filled in the outline I'd created with black; ran that through an online font ID app and managed to find it on the list. The front artwork is almost done, just need to add the lines of motion blur around Mario. I haven't quite figured out if (how) I can recreate that or not.
I'll keep an eye out for your icons!

Hey, you're a screenshot pro, maybe you can help me. The sprites in the screenshots on the mario bros. boxes don't seem to match the actual gameplay. I don't know if I'm using the wrong version of the game or maybe the screenshots are from a different version? Should I try and reproduce the cover with accurate sprites or match the original box?

Working on your blurs. I would have to look into the screenshots... my guess... its probably from the actual arcade game rom, and not the NES.

I just checked and yeah, the sprites do appear to be from the arcade version. Here's the updated cover progress if it helps with your blur work. (Thanks for doing that, by the way.) Everything is finished on the front cover now except for the seals, which I want to remake since the current toothed edge looks pretty rough. The back is -obviously still under heavy development.

Looking good! I've got the rest of the cover finished. I'll look it over again with fresh eyes in the morning, but I think I'm done tweaking it. It looks like you've got the screenshots covered, so I'll leave that part up to you.
And I'm glad to help ShoothimNow. I don't have much disposable income to spend on boxes to scan for TCP, so if there's an opportunity to contribute some other way I'm happy to take it!

Tyler, I think that's the game you were playing. Kaettekita Mario Bros. from the FDS was released on cartridge in 1993 in Germany only in PAL 50htz format, with the "Classic Serie" banner on the front. It has only the normal mode, with the Ramen and other ads replaced with the arcade cut scenes. So the only NTSC version of the game is the FDS version, but of course without the cut scenes.
The original Mario Bros. released in 1983-1986 (depending on country), is one of those "universal" roms (UJE), where it's exactly the same across all regions, which should be the same as the version smooth linked above. It has no cut scenes describing the enemy patterns.
Speaking of the Classic Series/ Kaettekita, it would be great if someone recreated the German cover in the same super high quality. An alternate English version with Serie changed to Series would be excellent as well. Someone did do this partially (as linked below), but a nice crispy clean version would be awesome!

A lot more work then I thought, but the frontcover is like 80% done.

I've never seen the "classic series" pin before, that one is completely new to me =( so I have no idea where to begin looking for one for you. At first I thought it was like the one on the Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii (http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=9438), but its not the same.

Yeah, I think it might be PAL exclusive.
It seems to be the equivalent to the "Players Choice" series, that you got in the US.
They used the same icon for a series of classic SNES games as well here in Europe.
Anyway, if nobody made a vector image of that icon already, then I will have to do it myself. :)

Those look awesome, Shoot! As you said, adding them to my cover was quick and painless.
The only thing left from Shenske's CGC adaptation of Lumberjack42's original cover are the stars in the background. Everything else has been recreated from scratch. I've done two versions, one with a custom TCP spine to match Shenske's CGC cover project and one with a retail spine to match e_brugal's NES CGC conversion project. I'll leave them up here for a couple days for public scrutiny before submitting them to the main site.

It took quite a while, but it is done now!
This was a lot more work, then I had anticipated... >:(
Frontcover:
- Made a vector image of the Mario Bros. logo.
- Made a (partial) vector image of the "Classic Serie" Logo.
- Cleaned up and color corrected the artwork A LOT! >.<
- Exchanged all the company logos with vector images from my Gameboy template.
Backcover:
- The backcover was completly rebuild with vector logos from the template and the Mario Bros. / Classic Series logo I made for the frontcover.
- Cleaned up the artwork.
- Retyped all the text.
- Rebuild the screenshots from sprites provided by the spriters-resource.com.

As requested, I also made a custom english version based on the retail german cover.
- All the german logos were replaced with english (UK) logos.
- I translated the "Classic Serie" logo by adding an "s" at the end.
- On the backside I used the text from the US cover, wich is actualy quite similar to a direct translation of the german text.

I'm hoping one of the forum admins can let me know if my Mario Bros. cover is still in the upload queue or if it was rejected. I see PX0's cover has been accepted so I suspect mine was not. I'd like to know what changes I can make so that it is up to TCP standards. I PMed a member of the admin team a week or two ago inquiring about this matter privately but received no response (I know you guys are busy). Thanks!
EDIT: I submitted a cover for Super RBI Baseball as well, which did not show up with my other SNES covers that were accepted on the 8th. I'd appreciate a heads up as to whether that one was also rejected. Thanks again!

I'd put them on the back burner. The dimensions were off for Mario and I had to fix the whites on the Baseball game. But I fixed the issue and got them up.

Wonderful, thanks segamer! I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something more I need to do on my end. I appreciate all the hard work!
I made the Mario cover dimensions match rockabilly1983's covers posted on the main site, which are 3470x2080. For example: http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=16035. I think they fit the CGC cases a little better than Shenske's template. It's not a big deal, I just wanted to explain my choice of dimensions. I can resubmit the covers at 3431x2100 without squeezing the images, I'll just resize or readjust the elements to fit.
