How it works:
Make a retail based cover of decent quality for games listed on my Bounty List, select a reward from the Reward List, and I mail you the reward.
Covers must be in North American NTSC format or English equivalent. Open discussion is welcome.

I put together a cover for Crash 2 with the scans I had. The original raws weren't properly descreened, so it's not as sharp as I prefer, but it should still look good printed. I kept the spine as close to retail as I could. If you prefer a simpler look let me know, I can easily paste the logo onto a single color background. I didn't have time to look for Time Ace today, I'll try and get to it in the morning.

I found my DS games and unfortunately Time Ace wasn't in a case. It's still possible I have one kicking around, but it's not where I thought it was. Looks like I may need a cover for it as well! As a consolation prize here's a cover for Lock's Quest. I'll have to take a look at my PS2 collection and see if I have any more of the games you're looking for. I have something like 250 PS2 games sitting in boxes, so perhaps I have one or two more I can knock of your list. I'll try to dig them out and have a look later this week.

I'm not looking for perfection. Just a cover that is print ready without additional work, preferably no noticeable creases or discoloration. A quality scan is fine.

I found a scan online for Chaos Legion. The quality isn't awesome, but maybe it will work as a placeholder until someone provides a better image. Also here are links to front and back scans for Casper and Superman from Andy Decarli. They're around 600 dpi but the moire is terrible and there is no spine scan. Perhaps someone with more skill than me can make something out of them.

Stumbled across this copy of Stretch Panic while looking for something else online. I think it's been stretched to a larger size than it originally was, so the quality has suffered some, but I figured I'd share it anyway just in case you want to use it as another "placeholder" cover until a nice 300 dpi scan comes along.

Great scan - but some damage on the logo's gave me a bit of a headache, and extending the left/right sides to make the art fit into the template was a little tricky, but the results are pretty nice: (any bounty to bear)

When you go to scan your covers, adjust your settings in the software to scan at 300dpi or more if possible. Also, if you have a setting which allows you to "descreen" or "derasterize" check that off as well. And when you put your cover on the scanner, don't place it right against the edge, most scanners cut off a little of the edges of the scanning surface.
There's a good guide created by Doom here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=1305.0 but it's a little ugly right now since photobucket broke all the image links.

Advice is entirely welcomed. My wife is the only person who has used our scanner, so I have no experience with that.
The only thing I knew was to try and scan at 600dpi but 300 dpi minimally.
To clarify, you are saying to make sure "descreen" and/or "derasterize" is turned off?

As sheep said, you want descreen on. What it does is reduce the moire or "flower" pattern you see in a lot of raw scans. If you look at the raw scan of Casper I shared earlier in this thread you can see a good example of the pattern I'm talking about.
Speaking of Casper, I finished working on the akrate69's scan earilier today. Please feel free to still scan your copy though ignition, as the raw scan I was working with had some of that moire I mentioned and although I think I managed to eliminate the worst of it, your image may still come out better!

Aye, how about that? After some feedback, and possibly trial and error, I'll try scanning the other ones.
Scan options didn't have descreen or anything but it had "Reduce moire" so I used that. Other scan software I used had no options whatsoever and I guess it had a lot of moire because it looked kind of like one of those 3D eye illusion pictures.
If anybody has any suggestions on scanner software, let me know. I tried Windows Scan and Fax and the Canon IJ Scan Utility.

Only viewing on my ipad at the moment, but from what I can see, there's still a little bit of moire there, but other than that it's a decent scan. Certainly usable. Thanks.

Okay well I made 2 scans of Chaos Legion. 1 with the built in scanner tools and 1 with the IJ Scan Utility. The scanner tools had descreen but I think the IJ Scan Utility looks nicer. *shrug* But what do I know.

I had some trouble with my scanner in general so I think part of it is clipped on the bottom so I need to rescan regardless.

The built in scanner tools did a better version of reducing the moire, but the IJ Scan utility seems to have done a better job at retaining the original colors at the cost of the whites washing out some of the detail in the brighter areas. It's a bit of a judgement call, but I personally think the built in tool did a better job overall, since the minor color difference can be corrected digitally in Photoshop.
One other word of advice, if you aren't doing it already, use a book or two to weigh down the cover when you scan it. It will help flatten the image (and the spine in particular) and eliminate the "flash" you can see reflecting in the IJ scan.

Stretch Panic just came in... I know that one is becoming a hard to find game, so I'll make sure to scan that one soon.
I'll try to do the book thing, but my scanner may not like that.

How do people feel about Auto Document Feeders? I'm putting the cover art of a dupe of mine through the ADF and it looks good, but I could see that a moving scan might possibly turn inconsistent.
lol I found the advanced settings for IJ Scan and now I'm scanning at 1200 dpi and found the "descreen" option.

So here is Chaos Legion scanned with the IJ Scan with descreen at 1200 dpi. I didn't edit the scan at all for this one, so you can even see the book I used to flatten the cover art.

1200dpi might be a little too large. I think 600dpi is probably the sweet spot. I couldn't open it with Photo Viewer but Photoshop handled it all right.
I made a comparison image of the 3 different scans you've made so that it's eaiser to judge the various strengths and weaknesses of the images. I think I still prefer the version using the built in scanner tools, but hopefully some of the other resident cover artists will weigh in with their opinions as well. It's kind of a tough call!

The scanner is just giving me a difficult time with Stretch Panic. No matter what I do it cuts off some of it. So I spent a good half hour trying to get this as good as I could and it still seems crooked or cut off. If it still is no good I can try to take a scan and not try to do any correcting.

Don't worry about straightening or cropping covers, it's easy to do in Photoshop. Just put it on the middle of the glass and scan! At first glance it looks like you got the whole cover in the shot, maybe a little of the bottom left corner got cut off, I can't really tell without the original in front of me though.

That's what I've been doing. Scanning and then throwing it in GIMP (Photoshop costs money *shrug*) and rotating/cropping.
The scanner's built in scan tries to crop the image itself so sometimes some of it isn't presented in the scan. I don't really have any way of verifying that the cover actually is perfectly straight on all edges, it kind of seems to me that it isn't.

There should be a way to disable the auto cropping feature, but scanning software varies so much it's hard to give any specifics on how you might go about turning it off. Honestly, you don't really even need to bother doing any adjusting in photo editing software when sharing raws, that can all be done by the cover artist when they are cleaning and making adjustments anyway.
And if you're interested, Adobe gives away Photoshop CS2 for free now. It's not as full featured as the most recent versions, but it's still a competent piece of software by any standard. Perhaps. Photoshop is what I'm used to from design school and occasionally work, but I've learned to use GIMP and as far as I can tell it can do just about anything PS can do if you learn how GIMP works.
Though to be fair, I haven't tried to use any of the line tools in GIMP since I switched, and I don't know how well GIMP works with Wacom tablets.
But that's good to know, I forced myself to switch to GIMP while PS was still several thousand dollars.
