Found some junk at a yard sale this morning. Worked out a deal for all of it. Nothing great but I needed a copy of Spy Hunter and the rest I'll flip.

Oh crap. It's that day of the year. Right.
Well here are some real pickups. ::) :D
All $1 each:
Also $1 each. Road Rash is a pretty good find.
Cases + manuals. Missing the discs. Got them for free. Apparently the Christmas game is fairly rare.
Got this for 50 cents at a yard sale.
(shown below)

Excellent prices, if i could pick up at that price here I will be the happiest person in the world

Those prices are pretty unusually low. Plus I frequently visit about 7 different thrift stores and 1 resale store. And I've learned their patterns (how often they get games, how much they price them at) and their various employees (which will haggle, which are jerks, etc). Today was just a good day. :P

I will post a pic later
Baldur's Gate II *Big Box PC* - 3 bucks
Xbox Controller - 50 cents

This controller actually cleaned up nicely. It took like an hour to clean it (it was pretty bad), but it looks great now.

Not exactly gaming related (though Tom Brady is in many games), but I bought this at Goodwill for $20.
There's no certificate of authenticity, but I examined it enough to be convinced it's most likely authentic. I looked at photos of other Brady autographs and it's a close match. It appears to be real ink (and not machine printed) because there's ink blots on the ends of the letters where the pen would stop, as well as other imperfections that only a real pen would produce. Also, there's an NFL hologram on the photo itself. Since it's just a generic 8X10 photo, my feeling is that these were distributed by the NFL at a Brady autograph signing session.
I could send it in for certification, but that would cost around $75. As a huge Patriots fan, I'm convinced enough that it's real to display it as such and enjoy my great find (a typical Brady autograph is generally worth $80 - $100 on a basic photo). Unfortunately it was stored in a poor frame so there's some fading (I put it in the current frame).
-
Nice pic. I especially like that soft, squishy ball. ;D

Latest pickup
Two separate purchases, Mike Tyson's punch our and a fun cost me $25, snes Jr., game case and two controllers was $40.

Picked up this NES Classic today from GameStop (lucky me!), (along with the steel book Persona 5 and Criminal Girls 2.) and even though I'm really happy with the system I'm almost wanting to mod it so I can play the games I actually enjoy to play.
I'm sadly conflicted though because I don't really want to alter what it is. (Which is a licensed emulator machine....)
Who all has one and have you altered it?

I haven't even opened mine yet. I doubt that I ever will.
But in my opinion, the NES Mini is great for what it is, but if you plan on altering it, you are MUCH better off going with a Raspberry Pie.
-
The Mod is super easy. The only way it visually alters the system is by adding additional games to the UI. But the good thing is that it backs up your ROM, so you could always restore it if you chose to.

Don't know if it helps make your mind up at all, but if I ever have the spare cash to get my hands on one of these beauties, I'm absolutely planning on modifying it to plan a whole bunch more games. Of course, you sort of accomplish them same thing with a standard NES and flash cart (which I already have), so it's not a huge priority for me at this point.
I say set it up and start playing, the answer will more than likely just come to you while doing so.
-
Oh I've already played it. I think it's nice and plays really smooth. I like the interface a lot. I just don't think I've ever met someone that says they actually like Ice Climber lol. Most of the games are good but not great. I think I've decided I'm gonna do it but I'll wait for the warranted to expire.

That was my plan too. Keep it as is while under warranty, then bulk it up once I'm S.O.L. if it breaks down.
BTW... I actually liked Ice Climber when I was a kid. I suck very much badly at it now. LOL.
-
I received mine in the mail yesterday. I plan on modifying it to add the ROMs of the games I own. I'll only add the games I own to keep it legal, but like one of you said, some of the 30 games are great, but others..eh.
-
That doesn't keep it legal.
That law exists/existed to allow owners of software which was distributed on a volatile storage format (I.e. Floppy disks) to create a single backup in order to protect themselves from accidental loss.
Besides, distribution of the ROMs is what's considerably more illegal, not that anyone seems to care anymore. ROM sites have been up and thriving for a long time now. It seems as though Nintendo and the like have just given up on trying to police ROM distribution.

You're allowed to make a backup of nearly any format -- volatile or not. I'm not trying to say it makes it 100% legal, but it's plenty close enough. Plus, like you said, it's the distribution.
-
I think the copy has to be made from your owned copy, not downloaded offline, so you can rip your own rom or CD, or record your vinyl to a MP3 or whatever, but you cant just download it. Though I doubt a company is going to go through with a lawsuit you for downloading a game you own, if you can prove it to them.

Just to throw in my input, modifying the NES Classic is super easy and practically harmless. Even in the event that something goes wrong, the program used to modify the system has you back up the kernel the first time you run it so that you can easily revert your NES Classic back to it's original state.
I've been modifying mine for the past 2 weeks and have been having a blast doing it. It's nice to have the fancy looking menu interface and The Cover Project certainly helps get most of the artwork you'd need for the box art thumbnails. I've got a little over 400 games on mine. And now is the best time to do so, as the program has been refined to be much more convenient and easier to use than it use to be. And compatibility support for pretty much any NES rom is there now for the most part. I'm not really interested in adding any other systems (although you certainly can), just keeping it exclusively for NES.
This will certainly never replace the feeling of playing these on actual cartridge for me, but I thought it would be nice to have for quick and easy access for when company comes over as well as playing rom hacks and fan translations. And the crisp HDMI output is a nice touch too!
-
Whenever I can find an NES Classic, yes you can bet that I will be adding every NES game that I can get on there. But so far 5 months in and I still can't find one for retail pricing.
-
Thanks all, you talked me into it. And oh hell ya, I would keep it only NES titles.
-

Same here, but I've never seen one in person. At this point I'm not sure it actually exists.

Not to belabor the point, but the DMCA very clearly states that any measure taken to circumvent copy protection is illegal, whether it's to make a personal backup or otherwise. Nintendo used a proprietary cartridge format along with masked ROMs in order to prevent piracy.
The old laws weren't terribly specific, but they were created because of the inherent long-term issues with software being distributed on floppy disks. Making copies of software stored on something like an optical disc or cartridge wasn't what the law was intended to cover. But the DMCA is very specific about what is acceptable and what isn't.
But there's obviously no way to police people making a personal backup or backups, which is likely why it took so long for the laws to be more clearly defined via the DMCA, which was essentially created by and campaigned for by the music, movie, and game industries.

Also, for me, it was pure luck both times. Both instances, I was in a GameStop on my lunch break killing time, not even planning to buy anything, and just happened to see one sitting there. In fact, the second one I would have missed if the employee hadn't pointed it out. Neither one made it past the check out desk to the floor. Just the right place at the right time. 8)

Pick ups from Midwest Gaming Classic over the weekend. Found some good stuff I've been looking for!

I picked this up as part of a lot for $250 at a local flea market. There is one thing missing from the pic, a system I have been looking for, for years. I will post later once it's cleaned up a bit. Considering what the console goes for, the rest of this was about $50 or so.
Pretty nice score considering what Ghostbusters, Gunstar Heroes and Mario Party 5 go for. It was also cool to find a bleemcast MGS in the wild.

I also grabbed this on launch day, just never got around to posting it. Been looking forward to this since it was announced, like, 5 years ago.

If that Raiden Trad is complete, it's worth more than either of those loose Gunstar Heroes or Ghostbusters. I'm trying to guess what the system is. Maybe a 3DO (since I see a 3DO game in your lot)? I don't think a 3DO system is worth $200 though.
-
I had no idea Raiden Trad was worth that much. And yes, it is complete. Makes me happy in case the system doesn't fully work.
As for the system, I'm trying to find a power adapter for it since it didn't come with one. Once I can fully test it and make sure it's working properly I'll put it up here.
It isn't a holy grail find or anything, but I've never actually seen one in person before.
And not a 3DO (already have that), but it is SORT OF related to the games I got. ;)

PSX? Or Sega CDX?
-
I had to buy this on Steam. Now I want to make a custom PC box and disc for this

-
My new guess is a Sega CDX. If it is, hopefully it has the correct power supply as those can be $100 by themselves.
-
Could be the JVC X'Eye or even that Panasonic LaserActive unit as well.

He said it was worth around $200. That rules out a LaserActive by a long shot.
My guess is also CDX or X'Eye.
-
I was thinking it was an JVC X'Eye, as I had never heard of one, and a friend randomly gave me his for I do believe $50 (along with other things) when he was moving out of state. If someone was looking for years for something, that is a rare piece of equipment that not a bunch of people know about.

It's one of those things I would LOVE to have, but would refuse to pay much more than about $30 for because I have simply zero use for it.

Got Ristar on Ebay CIB for $47, about the going rate for a nice cartridge with manual, and well under the $100+ that CIB's are going for. I knew it wasn't perfect, but I couldn't tell from the photo in the auction that it was actually wrapped in plastic (sticky on the inside). The "protector" looked bad up close as I could see air pockets, so I decided to remove it. As I was peeling it I realized it was leaving behind strong sticky residue. I asked for advice in another thread on how to remove sticky residue, and I used Goo Gone and got it all off with minimal damage to the box. Still, even with the damage that removing the plastic caused, it's still in better condition than most cardboard box games from this era. I have no idea why a previous owner thought it would be a good idea to wrap the cardboard slipcover in sticky plastic, but now I have a nice copy for my collection for a decent price.
-
Wow. I didn't mean for this thing to turn in to a guessing game. Took a little longer to clean up than I originally thought. It was grimy and musty, but cleaned up pretty well. It came without any cables, so I had to order a 3rd party power adapter which works pretty well. Kind of hard to find a 9.5V 1.5A power supply.
Anyway, some of you were correct - a JVC X'Eye! I have wanted one of these FOREVER. Being a big Sega Genesis fan this thing is an obscure little gem. I would take this over a Sega CDX any day for my collection.
This one works perfectly and aside from some scratches is in great shape.

I picked up this beauty along with that lot of games from a guy selling A LOT of stuff. I was tempted to buy more, but really I was pushing it with $250.
All in all, a good day. :D
-
Great deal. Congrats!
-
I've actually seen more of those than the CDX. There's 2-3 of those for sale within an hour of me. I keep tossing around the idea of getting one, but then my 32x would be out of luck. I may get it to be one of my shelf display units after I move.
Speaking of which, maybe I should go ahead and upload pics of my old game room, since it doesn't even exist anymore....hmm
-
This thing actually works pretty well with the 32x. It even works with 32x CD, although multi-disc games are a problem because the unit covers the disc door. You would need tweezers or something to change discs. Not ideal. But regular 32x games play fine.
-
I know it's Easter, but I legitimately thought it may be Christmas for a minute.
I (grumpily) went in to my office at around 7 this morning to try and get some stuff done so I wouldn't have so much on Monday. On my way, I passed by a garage sale. On a whim, I stopped. I found THESE in a box for $30!!! Not each, just $30 for the set.
(https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/d4b0/islre2gm3gkxeft6g.jpg) (https://www.mediafire.com/view/?islre2gm3gkxeft)
It was a younger guy, probably early 20s, who was selling this "out of date games" stuff. He marked it low because none of the wires could be found and couldn't be tested. I asked him if he was sure, and even mentioned that some of these were "worth a little more" than he was asking. He said he didn't really care. "They were in a closet." With that, I relived him of his burden. ;D
-
Nice pickup on the Jag. Good luck with it all working once you get the cables and everything you need. Remember, that for a Jag to power on, you need both a game and a controller plugged in, otherwise, it won't power on at all. Some people think they are broken, but they just don't have everything hooked up. And make sure your power supply is correct, or you will fry the board. Sorry if that is stuff you already know, but it's worth saying it to potentially save a chip.
Also, your timing is good because the new SD based flash cart for the Jaguar is probably less than six months away. ;)
-
I didn't know that about the controller needing to be plugged in. Not that I imagine it wouldn't be, but it's definitely good to know.
I actually went on eBay and ordered OEM rf cable and ac adapter. I did the same thing for the JVC X'Eye. I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to power adapters.
And I will definitely be getting that Jag Everdrive. The one game I want a physical copy of (Alien vs Predator) I just found on pricecharting store for the game, manual and overlays for $35. I'm actually really looking forward to playing this thing.

I actually have AvP complete (game, box, manual, all 3 inlays). It's ok...... It hasn't aged well.
Doom is great, despite missing music
Flip Out is an excellent puzzle game and a hidden gem
Power Drive Rally is also sort of a hidden gem (I never hear anyone talk about it)
Tempest 2000 is also a lot of fun (everyone talks about it, but it lives up to the hype)
Lots of other good games despite its small library. Youtube is a good source for other good games.
-
Club Drive is decent.

Haven't posted any pickups in a while. Figured I'd share a couple of my most recents:
Picked up the PS4 physical copy of Hyper Light Drifter from I am 8Bit and hard copy of I am Setsuna for the Switch.

And picked up a Zero Suit Samus Figma. She'll stand nicely next to my Suited Samus Figma I bought a few years back!

You're more than welcome, bro! Enjoy :)
Bloodborne was a gift from a friend, Yooka and the BotW guide were part of an amazon purchase, the rest are target clearance. I stop at this Targer every weekday after dropping my son off at school. They don't even have a spot for the NES classic and never have. I'm not convinced that they EVER had any. I thought I might get lucky on my birthday, but at least they had a decent selection of clearance stuff today :-\

Happy birthday mate!
That payday cover is screaming for a photoshop with the middle finger extended.
-
Damn wiggy you have some good stores near you. The stores near me still think Tri-Force Heroes is a $40 game.

Happy birthday Wiggy.

Tonight's pickup, $30 on kijiji.

The funny thing is that they could never sell the game with that cover here in the US because it would be too offensive. The violence and murders in the game is no problem, but someone flipping the bird on the cover would be too much.

Gun ok, but fingers not. Lol.

Yep, pretty much.
Blow someone's head off, no problem. Show some nudity and everyone looses their minds.

This beast of a book finally came in!
It is seriously the size on an old encyclopedia.

Melee isn't new, I just used the nearest case for size comparison. Size aside, it really is a beautiful book. Given I paid more for this guide than I did my copy of the game, I suppose it better be.

Kinda reminds me of this poster:

They changed it to have her hand down at her side so that it wouldn't seem too patriotic.

Poster for the film 'what a girl wants'.

Lol, it seems that the idea was taken from that poster

I know these aren't nation wide, but Family Video is having a game sale. Buy one, get one 50% off. Their prices are pretty cheap to start with. The games are obviously rentals, so they've probably seen a hard live, but they do guarantee them for 30 days. Also, the discs will have that sticker on the middle and the game cases will have those difficult to remove stickers, but if the games are cheap enough, it's worth it in my opinion. Supposedly, only games listed as "buy it" are eligible, but I already know that Bear was able to get some Wii U games for cheap, so it's worth asking as each store will inevitably be different.

Hit the nail on the head there. Also, heaven forbid there be a fraction of a woman's nipple on a cover. Instant porn, err, "Adults-Only" rating.
Well, another day at target, another with no NES classic. Buuuuut, they had more clearance stuff. Wish I could say it's making up for the lack of NES.

I haven't posted my pickups in awhile, so here's the last couple weeks worth.
I don't know why PostImage is rotating the photos.
I got this about 2 weeks ago. (Purchased about 3 weeks ago on Walmart.com for $60.)
Here are some games I got about a week ago at a resale store.
Here are a couple of eBay purchases. I've been wanting both of these for quite some time.

Here are some games I got today at Goodwill and a resale store. And yes.. Barbie lmao. The memory card was free (found it inside a ps2 game).
And here is a GBA I got at Goodwill for $8. It's missing the battery cover, but otherwise it's in very good condition.

April pick ups so far. Also pictures is my NES mini. This months pick ups finishes this.
As far as I know this is every (non-philips) Zelda game released in the states.
-
If you don't count Greatest Hits variants, the digital only Four Swords Anniversary for 3DS, and non-series games with Link as a playable character (Smash Series, Soul Calibur II), then yes. Those are all the official titles released in the US.
-
I might eventually pick up variants. (gold carts, non-litho sticker on majoras mask, greatest hits) but currently that's not a priority. I have Four Swords Anniversary on the 3DS and all the smash series. And I'm not bothering with Cameo appearances. There isn't a clear cut list on that.
-
I guess the CDI games also count, and the Game & Watch Zelda game (Winch is in the Game & Watch Gallery 4 on GBA)

Funny that I wasn't the only person to pickup Twilight Princess today (although you clearly picked up the better version). Personally, I feel that you don't need every version of the SAME game to say you have all of the Zelda games. If you didn't have the Switch version of BOTW, I would argue you still have all of the Zelda games (outside of CDi).
-

I paid $75. It came in an official N64 case. The price was a little steep, but it wasn't as high as usual. And yeah, most of the ones on eBay are repros.

Yeah I agree. You only need every release. I'm only missing BotW for Wii U :(

Man I love the NES and SNES white covers. Do you have a template for them?

There's also the "Game Watch" which is different then the Game & Watch and the 3 Tingle games if you want to count them although none of them were released in the US.
... I know a few things about this :P

I was really surprised how easily Family Video's stickers peeled off. They came right off in one try without any assistance and didn't leave any sticky residue. I was pretty impressed. I didn't try the sticker on the discs yet. I might not eve bother. Slightly higher risk there.

Yeah, the disc stickers come off pretty easily too. Just be careful and clean with alcohol instead of goo gone. I took all the stickers off mine with no real issues.

Grab Game & Watch Gallery 4 on the GBA like Larry mentioned. It has Game & Watch Zelda as an unlockable game on the cart. I made a cover for it too: https://app.box.com/s/lj867vpor3ehr62tlyerah9jtlpi7yiu

Meh, if they have the R1G1 sticker... and the game hasnt rented in 3+ months, they are allowed to sell it for the retail price the computer says (R1G1 games are USUALLY $9.99). The only one I can see them giving you a hard time about after the fact is Mario, as they try to protect those.

Leaving the stickers on gives you lifetime cleanings for free. Either that (sticker) or by having the receipt. and I would rather have the sticker on it than have a receipt in the case I guess. Unless I photoshopped the 8x11 "receipt paper" down to the size of a manual.

That's helpful. I hadn't been in a Family Video in about 10 years, so I didn't know any of their rules.

Finally got on board with the Wii U. Picked up all this for $140. Person selling it said they broke the charging port on the gamepad, and while yes, it is flaky, their issue was their AC adapter, they severed part of the cord, so no juice. One sloppy splice later and I'm back in action.
I must say, I am impressed, although, the Wii was so bad (from a visual standpoint), that anything looks good.

Finally got one of these guys from eBay for almost retail price including shipping! I have modded it to look (software wise) exactly the same as the USA/EU Classic NES, with English games as well. I'm happy. Don't need the American version now (unless I find it cheap, I suppose).

The UI looks different compared to the us version? I'm gonna have to look that up.

Normally, yeah. Mine is identical to the US one now, but the Famicom Mini normally only has Japanese language, and looks like this:

Yeah, I looked up some vids on it. It's not terribly different. Just the language, which system it is, some colors and a few sprites.

Also the non-changable minuscule controllers. No thanks!

about how much is retail for this one?

Right, BUT... the inside motherboard is the EXACT SAME as the NES board, meaning you can wire up Wii Classic Controller extension cables into it. I have plans to do that and make it look very nice and Wiggy-like.
The retail of the Japanese, I believe is about the same as the US, $60. I paid $70 shipped. Not bad for an extra (tiny) controller.
I will post pics of it after my "surgery". I'm waiting on my package of 10 Wii extension cables.

After removing the Famicom controllers, you could solder the end to the end of an extension cable with some shrink tubing (essentially just add a connector to the end). Then you could still use the Famicom controllers.
-
I'm wondering if I could either have them both connected at the same time, (the SNES/NES to Wii Classic adapter allows an NES and SNES controller connected, and both still work) or have switches to flip between them.
Today, April 24th, I got an American NES Classic as well by standing in line at Best Buy at 5am this morning!

Our Switch and the games! bought in March, but arrived just yesterday! ^-^.. I also got a coat, and Spank got a new headphone! =3

MAN! LUCKY!
I'll get a big group shot of all the things I've picked up from Half Price Books this month shortly.

Target clearance goodies and an NES classic from a friend whom with I trade stuff so often that neither of us are keeping track anymore lol! Though I do have a modified Hori fight stick going out to him this week...

Didn't realise that geometry wars got a physical release. Pretty sure we didn't get it over here. Tdirunner, if that box isn't sealed....lol ;)

I bought Star Fox used at a Family Video. Unfortunately, their buy one get one half off sale had ended, but this was still pretty cheap for a first party Nintendo Wii U game. Geometry Wars is for someone else.

I'll probably get a replacement label for it. I'm not interested in long term value/resale, so it matters more to me that it looks good than it's original

Before doing that, I'd recommend a little patience, and try to find a broken copy with a decent shell. For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Contra-Hard-Corps-Sega-Genesis-1994-defective-game-doesnt-work-/182555894330?hash=item2a812de23a:g:qxAAAOSww9xZCAYL (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Contra-Hard-Corps-Sega-Genesis-1994-defective-game-doesnt-work-/182555894330?hash=item2a812de23a:g:qxAAAOSww9xZCAYL)
Actually after looking at that listing, I would be willing to guess that the pins just need to be cleaned.

Or at the very least, leave the game as is until you find a better looking copy. If you ever find a better copy, sell the one with the bad level.

I agree with this. In my opinion, if it's a game that's going to be on display (as in the label will be fully showing), then it is likely one of your favorite or most treasured games; in that case, you invest in a nicer copy. But if it's just going to be on a shelf, then the label won't be showing, so the condition is less important. Either way, a genuine label has heart; a reproduction doesn't. The label, although worn, shows the history of the game. I don't want this to start an argument on the merits of reproduction labels, but that's just my two cents.
-
Guys, you're making this too complicated. Get a replacement label, put it on a replacement shell, keep old shell since it's a crime to removal a beat to snot original. Done.

Derp. Thanks!

And that's why I like coming here. Never considered most of those ideas. I've only actually "replaced" one label, and it was TMNT 2 on NES, because the label had already been almost completely peeled off. You couldn't tell what the game was unless you looked at the spine.
I'll probably try to either get a 2nd shell and put the label on it, or I really like the idea of finding a 'broken' game, especially since I don't have a case for it
-

I have a copy of Super Mario RPG with a terrible label. I bought a replacment label years ago but could never decide if I wanted to replace the original or not. Can't believe I never thought of doing this.
