Long time reader and browser of the forums. Bought our first house about a year ago. We decided the bonus room above the garage was perfect for the game room.
Took me about 3 months to finish the bonus room as it was a hideous mess of what I call "pinterest gone wrong"! The room was ALL BROWN. The parallel walls were all thickly stuccoed and painted brown then washed over with a darker brown. The slanted walls were also brown, just a slightly different shade. The ceiling has wood paneling. Which was nicely nailed, screwed and glued to the ceiling that was bare dry wall...that took a long time to properly fix. Not to mention wood flooring (which I kept).
The parallel walls had to be sanded, took me 2 weeks to get it to a decent thickness and attractive texture. Really just cursed the entire time that someone had thought it looked good. Wish I could find the picture. Then it was fixing the ceiling. Which wasn't too bad but I still remember the shoulder pain from having my arms up for so long. Last bit was just painting. All of this I did myself as my wife was pregnant at the time.
I created an album on imgur of my game room. I am pretty happy with the results. http://imgur.com/a/0Hukw (http://imgur.com/a/0Hukw)

Nice.. You did a great job with it. Want to come and help sort mine out? lol

That is a very thorough presentation of your collection. Bravo! The first picture implies the room is small, but that obviously isn't the case. Not to sound rude, but that collection seems to be extremely costly. I guess if you need some extra dollars down the road, you have some assets. :P Very nice collection.

Thanks! Doesn't sound rude. I guess I can see how it looks costly. Last year my wife took a job in another state. She was making double what I was as an engineer. The time we spent apart was tough and I think I spent money to deal with it. My habits have changed since she has moved back and we now have a kiddo. But even before that I was snatching up games any time I saw something on sale.

Nice collection ;D
Time apart can be tough and retail therapy sometimes temporarily fills the void. I am glad you and your wife have reunited. :)

Just now checking this thread out. Love the storm trooper pillow haha :) Where'd you pick that up?

You have an awesome collection. I noticed most of your games look to still have the sealed wrapper on them? Are they all unopened? If so wow lol I only have 3 games like that lol
-
I think those are UV protective pouches. from somewhere like retroprotection.com
-
ah right, I was gonna say ....all those games unopened, poor games lol...Set them Free! ;D

I have been gone from Cover Project for a while as life just got a little too hectic.
The stormtrooper pillow was from Target probably a year ago now. Most games are in protective sleeves. When I moved to the new house I ordered them and put all the games I could in the sleeves. I was suspecting they may be put in storage. I just never removed the sleeves when everything was shelved and probably won't take them out. They do provide UV protection as someone mentioned.
The room actually looks different now with a lot of additional games and collectibles.

ah right, that's cool nothing worse than a cover that's been faded with the sun.

When you get some time you will have to take some new pics, be interested to see how your room has came along ;D
