Title: TurboGrafx case idea
Post by: Starbuck777 on January 22, 2017, 07:20:10 PM
Here is a youtube video to showing an example;  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFS-TtCt5kc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFS-TtCt5kc)

This is the TurboGrafx repro site;  http://www.tg16pcemods.com/ (http://www.tg16pcemods.com/)

It states on the site that the cases are no longer available. I've emailed them concerning getting more cases. The cases look PSP-ish...

Suggestion - Maybe these cases can be reproduced here..?

Thanks

What about these cases?

http://www.direct-source.com/products/70410__SLIM_DVD_CASE_CLEAR_TO_HOLD_CREDIT_CARD

I would like to try them myself, but it does not look like they ship to the US. They also sell a 14mm version.

Cool case ideas

Why is TurboGrafx so expensive to collect for? I have heard the the PC Engine is a little less expensive...

Supply and demand.

Supply is very low due to poor sales, demand has increased exponentially.

I reached out to a supplier of those credit card DVD cases. Trying to work out getting a sample case sent. They are not cheap to ship to the US, but if they work maybe I can find a way to get some to supply to the community.

I will let everyone know more once I get a response on the sample.

Please do.  Knowing Wiggy, he could probably 3D print something =P.  Hell... I might make an STL file now...

Unless those "lazers" are on the heads of friggin' sharks, I'm not impressed.

Also, you forgot to put quotes around "lazers."

I wish there was a simpler way to make those cuts, that Wiggy made, on a CD tray.

Yeah, I wouldn't even dream of doing that sort of thing by hand at this point.

I'm still working on figuring out a way to get some of these cases. I was talking to Retrogamez about this, but have not gotten a response yet. I will send Retrogamez a PM and see if I can get a few cases sent my way.

I was able to get the manufacturer's info from superkon316 over at www.tg16pcemods.com. He believes the minimum order on these is 5,000pcs. Tomorrow I will be giving them a call to see what we are looking at.  :)

If you're going to invest money into Turbografx-16 cases, why not work toward authentic cases? Basically, you'd only need to manufacture the CD tray. Hastings, which recently went out of business had thousands of those cases for 10 cents. They were used for gift cards. I'd imagine they'll start popping up on ebay soon.
