Title: NES Custom Game Case Covers
Post by: rockabilly1983 on January 20, 2017, 12:34:30 AM
Hi everyone! Here is my very first NES cover for Shadowfox's NES Custom Game Case. His cases are the best, hands down! Here is Batman! I had the box for this game laying around in my closet for five years. I thought, "Why don't I try making that into a NES Custom Game Case cover?" This one took quite a bit of work because the box was pretty worn. In the CGC SNES Covers thread, I found some useful information from Moviefan2k4. He said that Shenske's template is a little off and gave the real dimensions on what the Custom Game Case covers need to be. He measured some covers at a video game convention to get the full size. I'm so thankful he got that information because it helped me. We need to make NES covers using his dimensions instead. He also said that he's working on making his own template for Shadowfox's NES Custom Game Case. I have a simple template in my Box account with Moviefan2k4's dimensions. Here are the size differences:

Shenske's Template
Width: 3431 - 11.437"
Height: 2100 - 7"
Spine is 338 pixels wide. The front is 1547 pixels wide. The back is 1546 pixels wide.

Moviefan2k4's Template
Width: 3470 - 11.567"
Height: 2080 - 6.933"
Spine is 330 pixels wide. The front and back are both 1570 pixels wide.

I resized the front, back, and spine and reprinted a few of Shenske's covers using Moviefan2k4's template. What a difference! The covers fit much better and they give more of a full coverage. I had to reprint 12 covers when I started using Shadowfox's NES cases. With Shenske's template, the covers stick out at the top and bottom of the plastic overlay and they come up a little short on the width. The spine also sticks out slightly over the front and back at 338 pixels wide. With Moviefan2k4's template, the covers don't stick out at the top and bottom of the plastic overlay and the width covers up the holes on the front and back. The spine is more center at 330 pixels. The covers fit like a glove with no wrinkling or bunching. This is the size the covers should be.

Now, without further ado, I present to you my first NES cover: Batman! I made the cover in full retail and TCP style retail. On the TCP style retail cover, I added a sharp, vector Nintendo logo for the system name that you see on the top of the spine. Shenske's Nintendo logo wasn't as round on the right end. It looked like it was cut off by a hairline. This game is one of my childhood favorites. My brother-in-law introduced me to this game when I was 7 years old in 1990. Happy gaming!

Hello again, everyone! Here is my 2nd NES cover: Anticipation. This is one of three games I picked up at the video game swap meet in Portland, OR last weekend. I will be making all my NES covers in full retail as well as TCP style retail. The Cover Project truly needed a better, higher quality cover for this game and it's now here. I got 7 Game Boy Advance games still brand new, 2 Game Boy Color games complete, and two manuals for $42 from one of the vendors. I got one of the best deals so far on this last trip to Portland. I am working hard to get the other three NES covers restored for this site. I'm so happy to make NES covers for the first time. I grew up playing that console and it was my very first one. Before I got that, we had our first computer Atari 800XL. I played so many games on that computer when I was 5 in 1988. When I was 6, we got our 2nd computer. It was an Atari ST. I still have the Atari ST my brother found at a thrift store for only $10 when I was 14 back in 1997. I will never sell it because it's going up in value. More NES covers are coming soon!

Yay! I have another NES cover for all of you! I figured NES Play Action Football would be a really good one to do all this week because of the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl starts tomorrow. It's going to be New England Patriots vs. Atlanta Falcons. I don't watch sports. My dad watched football all the time. One of his favorite teams was Miami Dolphins. I updated the spine on my last cover Anticipation. It looked all stretched and I remade the spine using my raw scan at 2080 pixels high and 250 pixels wide. This helped keep the spine at the original size and it also kept the logos from looking stretched. I noticed how the spine didn't look right when I stretched the scan at 330 pixels wide. I also updated the words Entertainment System. I retyped it using the font NES Logo. That font looks good but it's not an exact match. The letters are a little taller than the font you see on the system name. I searched for an NES logo on Google Images and found one big image that had the words Nintendo Entertainment System. I traced it with Vector Magic and I replaced the retyped text with the vector letters. Now the spine on the full retail cover is more retail accurate. I updated the TCP retail cover too. That's what I wanted to give you guys a head's up on. NES Play Action Football took quite a bit of work especially with rebuilding the logo. The "Upload a Cover" link seems to be broken. I can't upload any of my new covers. I hope it gets fixed soon. I'm waiting patiently for the link to be fixed so I can upload finished covers again. Good things come to those who wait. Have fun watching the Super Bowl tomorrow!

Rockabilly,

I appreciate your trust in my measurements. I later purchased a 25-pack of Shadowfox's NES cases, and remeasured them to be sure...no difference. I got in the habit of doing my own measurements a couple of years ago, designing DVD and Blu-Ray covers as a hobby. There's people who do great artistic work, for that and video games...but it bugs the fire out of me when the cover's too big or small. When I use someone else's work, I typically put it in Photoshop and fix the details to match my template.

I don't think the height on Shensuke's template was ever meant to perfectly match the plastic sleeve. Seems like it's meant to fit inside the hard plastic borders on the top and bottom. That's my observation at least, after printing, cutting and installing over 50 of his NES CGC covers myself. They all fit pretty perfectly vertically, and the leeway given for horizontal placement doesn't really bug me too much, though since ShadowFox's cases seem to have less "variability" compared to the UGCs maybe the covers SHOULD be a bit wider from this point on.

Anyway, I don't mean to sound like a contrarian, nor to imply that you're "wrong" or "wasting time" or anything like that. Just offering another perspective. Your covers look great. Keep doing your thing.

Thanks, Mr. Pennington! I'm so happy you like my covers. Welcome to The Cover Project!

@Vaulter98c
Thank you, Vaulter98c. I'm so happy you're a fan of my Game Boy covers. More Game Boy covers are coming soon! Check back often.

@Moviefan2k4
Thank you for the kind words. Good to hear that Shadowfox's NES cases are still the same. I found out recently that your template keeps the height close to the original height of the original boxes. I measured the height of an NES box and it showed 6.93" just like on your template.

@breakmanexe
That's a nice perspective. I never thought of it that way. By the way, thank you!

That's cool; I never even bothered measuring the height of an original box. Just some plain legal-sized copy paper, a ruler and calculator, plus some very careful folding. The plastic overlay's height was simple; width was tricky though. My experience from measuring DVD and Blu-Ray cases likely helped as well (thank you, God!)

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more NES covers for your collections. These are the last two I picked up at the Portland Retro Game Swap Meet back in late January. I did it! I did my first five NES covers. I'm going to be getting more in the future. I cycled down to my local flea market on Sunday last week. I found a red barn with video games and DVDs. I couldn't believe the amount of video games this guy had for sale. It was my 2nd time going in there. He has lots of complete NES and Super Nintendo games. Many of them are very reasonably priced. I picked up a complete NES game for $8. It's coming soon. I'm going to a big farmer's market and swap meet in Roseville tomorrow. It's called Denio's. I haven't been there since I was a kid. I wonder if there are any vendors selling retro video games. You have to spend at least 2 hours at this place because it's enormous. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Enjoy my two newest game show game covers. See you next time!

You're doing very well with these; major congrats. I'm having trouble just finishing ones for my own collection, mainly because I'm a stickler for the smallest details. I like to retype my own text most of the time, but finding some of these old fonts is a real pain in the neck.

Thank you very much! :) I'm going to continue doing my best to make more. Good luck finishing your own covers! I use MyFonts.com's subsection WhatTheFont to identify fonts. If I don't get a good match, I submit my image to the forums on that site. Font enthusiasts can give you a hand on there. Another website I use is identifont.com. This website asks you questions about the styles of the different letters.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my 6th NES cover: Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular! This is the game I picked up at my local flea market. This past weekend was crazy because I was in Reno with my mom. We couldn't come back on Tuesday because of a heavy snowstorm. All the highways were closed and we were stuck in Reno. Thankfully, it was nice and sunny on Wednesday and we didn't have to put on chains. I took a look at the cover of Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular! that is on the main site. I noticed that all the confetti is missing and the colors are way off. I wanted to help make a proper cover for that game. This game is also one of my childhood favorites. Every time I look at the front cover, it brings back fond memories of when I used to ask my mom to rent it for me at Albertson's. I never owned it as a kid, though. In Japan, the game is called Donald Duck. I have a lot of Game Boy covers coming soon in the 3DS cover thread. Happy gaming!

My apologies, for not getting back to you about this most recent cover. I loved this game as a kid, and your rebuild is astounding. I've been going through some personal problems, so most of my designs have been on hold for a while...but I do want to start again, sooner rather than later. One deterrent has been the constant chaos of my sister's house; hopefully I can find the enthusiasm again, once my environment is more quiet during the day.

Well, this is part rebuild, part custom. I started with the CGC version of the first Mario game, and altered it to fit my own measurements. Then, I did the reverse image, using files from the Spriters Resource website. Here it is; I hope everyone likes it! :)

The image needs to be centered (both vertically and horizontally) before you print.  However, even if that is done, your printer will most likely not line it up perfectly (it will be very close).  For that reason, I purposely make the back image slightly larger then it needs to be.  After printing everything out, I cut out using the outer edge on the front side (because it's the most important and should be perfect).  By making the back image a little larger, it will cover the entire area that is cut out.

Gotcha... yeah I would center it up but, like you said, it wasn't perfect and it was annoyingly slightly off.  I'll definitely try making it slightly larger though, thanks   :D

Hey all you NES fans! I'm back with another NES cover for everyone. I can't believe it has been 4 months since I made one. Time flies when you're having fun. I was very stoked the day I saw my first 6 NES covers make it to the main site. Fester's Quest is one of my big childhood favorites. I used to ask my mom to rent this game for me a lot. I never owned it as a kid. I was 7 years old the first time I played this game back in 1990. Whenever I saw the commercial for this game on TV, I would always get excited. Feeling nostalgic, I found a compilation video of NES commercials on YouTube that brought back some childhood memories. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/Cz1KfzHQMMg After I finished making the two Berenstain Bears game covers for Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance recently, I decided to start working on Fester's Quest. The spine was pretty tricky to restore. There is artwork on the spine that connects to the front. I also had to fold the box two different ways to get all of the artwork when I was scanning it. It's really amazing what the cover looks like after it's fully restored. The box the game came in was pretty worn but the artwork was fully intact. That is very important when it comes to acquiring these 25+ year old boxes. Enjoy my 7th NES cover and I'll see you all next time!

Wow! I haven't made any new NES covers since June 2017. Well, here are two new covers! Feeling so much in an arcade mood, I wanted to do an arcade and pinball cover. After enjoying this year's California Extreme, I thought I would do Ring King and Pin Bot. They had the real Pin Bot pinball machine at this year's show but not Ring King. It's different every year. You never know what machines the collectors will bring to the show. I think it's really cool how Nintendo created a video game version of the pinball machine Pin Bot. Little did I know that there is a sequel to Pin Bot called The Machine: Bride of Pin Bot. I thought the title was funny. I have a little bonus for you after the covers. If you head further down, I'm going to show you a before and after.

Now that you've got your covers, or not, here is a before and after of Ring King.

Before
(https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/21fd/69oz03az1u6x8rd6g.jpg)
This is a raw scan. Notice how worn out this box is. This is probably the most worn box I have ever gotten when I bought this game complete. If I slapped this together just the way it is, it would look like a scan and it wouldn't make it to the main site. This cover requires tons of work especially cleaning. Many hours later leads to...

After
(https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/05e8/88lo495ks86ubwd6g.jpg)
What a difference, huh? That's approximately 10 hours of work. I manually traced the game title and put in the solid colors by copying and pasting separate layers in Photoshop. Once everything is done, I save the image as a flat PNG image. After that, I auto-trace the game title using Vector Magic so it's now a vector. Notice the logos. They're all rebuilt. The colors have also been corrected using the Hue/Saturation adjustment together with auto levels. I also take a little bit of saturation out so the colors look more natural and closer to what you see on the original box. I prefer to make covers with the original box by my side so I can check all the colors. The colors have also been brightened using the Brightness/Contract adjustment. Fonts have been verified using MyFonts.com's subsection WhatTheFont in case it's a font I don't know. For example, the font I needed help identifying was the text on the front on the yellow banner. I found out that the font used is Memphis Medium Italic for the black text and Memphis Bold Italic for the red text. Barcode has been rebuilt with a newly generated barcode from barcoding.com. Text has been retyped and screenshots have been fully cleaned up. Blacks have been darkened using Replace Color and everything looks the way it should. There is a lot more I do that goes into restoring covers, but, it would take me forever to tell you. Enjoy the new covers!

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more NES covers for your collections. For this update, I made Track & Field and Track & Field II. I played Track & Field II a lot growing up but never owned the first Track & Field. These are two of so many great games Konami made. It was kind of tricky making a master Konami template for the Konami games. I also had to experiment with different shades of grey until I found the right shade. That's why it's always best to have the original box next to you so you can see what the colors look like. Recently, I noticed that my two most recent covers Ring King and Pin Bot are on the main site, but, the size of those two covers were changed from 3470 x 2080 pixels to 3431 x 2100 pixels. Whoever approved my last two covers, I have something to say. Please don't change the size of my NES covers for the main site when I upload them for approval. I make NES covers in 3470 x 2080 pixels for a reason. 3470 x 2080 pixels (330 width for the spine) is the full confirmed size for the NES Custom Game Case Shadowfox makes. I got that information on another thread from Moviefan2k4. Shenske's template is a little off. I mentioned this when I first started this thread too. Now let's get down to business. These covers were so much fun to make. I'm very happy with how they turned out. I'm very excited to tell all of you that I'm going to be making Super Nintendo covers for the first time. They will also be sized for Shadowfox's Super Nintendo / Super Famicom Custom Game Case. We don't have very many Super Nintendo covers sized for his cases. Stay tuned while I continue to work hard on them. I might start a new thread for the Super Nintendo Custom Game Case covers. Until the next time, take care!

You're right, shenske. I started thinking today and realized that it's nothing to worry about. As long as I continue to do my best making covers, that's all that matters. :)

I started measuring my own cases with Blu-Rays, because every standardized cover I found was of to the point it slipped around in the case. So when I started messing around with the covers on this site, measuring the cases I used just became a natural extension for me. If you're fine with your covers having gaps or being too tall, more power to you - I simply prefer more detail in that regard.

Don't know if this has to be the problem you found, but when i received 1 case from shadowfox to try it out when he was making it, the clear plastic for the cover was cut at the edge of where the cover goes. but when i received the cases from Taketheword, the clear plastic for the cover was cut smaller than the first batch that shadowfox had. the cover that i put on that first case fit excellent, but the covers i put on the other cases didn't fit, they where taller than the clear plastic, i mesure the covers and they all where the exact same dimensions, when i mesure the clear plastic there was a difference.  i talk to shadowfox about that because i was modifying shenske's cover at the same size he made them and he told me that the problem was solved on the next batch of cases.

If is the same problem, then the dimesions of shenske's covers are right because it was made by the dimesions of the cases shadowfox send to some of us at that time, the problem came i think in the second batch that the company send to shadowfox.

here are some pictures i took and send to shadowfox at that time, i think they where 2 or 3 mm shorter than the first one.

in this one i try to line up the clear plastic, not the case (that's why the cases aren't aligned). Upper one (MB) is the original one, lower one (Punch out!!) is one of the second batch.

That's some fine detective work e_brugal! So it turns out everyone's dimensions were correct. I'll be sure to use shenske's template for any CGCs I create moving forward. I've been making a lot of SNES UGCs and plan to covert them all to CGCs when I'm finished, so this is very helpful.

Ok, now I have compared the NES cases and the SNES case and it has the same problem as the second batch. The clear plastic for the cover on the SNES cases is smaller in size than the Nes one that shadowfox Send us to try out on the beginning.

the company that make these cases had made a change in the clear plastic. So, there's a chance that the covers made by shenske aren't the right dimensions  (not his fault neither shodowfox).

Can other confirm this if someone have the try out case and the New SNES case. Or shadowfox, can you please confirm this, are they coming with a different dimensions in comparison to the clear plastic of the one we tried out at that time and the one that shenske took the dimensio  to make his covers

Hey there, I can confirm that my recent order of Shadowfox cases seem to have the slightly shorter plastic. Based on some test prints I've done, Movefan2k4's revised measurements do produce results that look better to me and seem to line up more closely with the fit on other DVD-style cases.

e_brugal, since I'm favoring Moviefan2k4's template to case my collection, I've taken a stab at resizing a few of your covers to it. Like you, I vastly prefer the full-retail look, so I hugely appreciate the work you've done.

What I've got here is mainly the low-hanging fruit, i.e. the games from Konami, Capcom, etc. that used some kind of frame around the cover art with solid colors elsewhere. These can be resized without too much trouble since the extra width can just be color fill, but the ones with full-bleed covers will pose more of a challenge. It's only around 20 pixels on each end, but those pixels have got to come from somewhere...

Wow! It's been almost a year since I last made NES covers. I bring you five new ones. They're all puzzle games. These games are so much fun to play. I had these on hold for so long since I bought them at last year's Portland Retro Gaming Expo. I have been working on Game Boy covers and 8 Super Nintendo covers. I'm sure you guys were wondering if I was going to make more NES covers. It took me a month to make these. It was hard work manually tracing the logos in Photoshop. After that, I auto-traced them into vectors using Vector Magic. The vector logos are available in my Box account if anyone needs them. I'm very excited about the upcoming Portland Retro Gaming Expo. It's going to be in two weeks! I hope I can find some more Game Boy requests while I'm there. Enjoy the newest NES covers. Happy gaming!

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more NES covers. The artwork on Arch Rivals cracks me up. Arch Rivals took quite a bit of work. I couldn't believe the original box had "nearsighted" spelled with a dash between r and s. "Nearsighted" is not spelled with a dash. It's spelled as one word. Another thing I noticed was the UPC code. The UPC code was on the right spine on the box. I added the UPC code to the spine. When I made the full retail spine, I kept the UPC code at the original size. On the TCP retail spine, I made the UPC code a little smaller, keeping it constrained. That way it wouldn't look so crowded. I also had to move the vector Arch Rivals logo down a little bit on the spine. You can't have a retail cover without a UPC code. It's like ordering a cheeseburger without cheese. When I looked at the cover on the main site, I noticed the colors were off and it wasn't retail accurate. The font on the back was also wrong. The original box used the font Helvetica; not Arial. The other cover I made is Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes of Major Championship Golf. Try saying that three times fast. Ha ha ha! That is the longest video game title I have ever seen. Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes of Major Championship Golf is the 18th NES cover I made so far. There are 18 holes in golf. What a coincidence! Now that October 11 has passed, I'm now 35 years old. Portland Retro Gaming Expo starts this coming Friday, October 19! I'm so excited! I hope I can find more complete in box games people have requested covers of. Now I'm out of here until next time. Happy gaming!

Hi, guys! I have two new NES covers for Shadowfox's NES Custom Game Case. I bring you my first two black box game covers: 10-Yard Fight and Golf. Doing these took quite a bit of work in the beginning because of the stars. Copying and pasting the stars was tricky because of the wear the boxes had. It's a good idea to have the original box out so you can see where the stars are. Once I copied and pasted all the stars as a separate layer, I increased the black levels just enough so the area around the stars would be true black. True black is 0 on red, green, and blue. True white is 255 on red, green, and blue. Now I have three stars layers for the front, back, and spine. Recreating the motion blurs on the pixel art was also very tricky. I had to experiment back and forth with adding a motion blur to my solid color layers after I saved them as a flat PNG image. The motion blurs on the football player on 10-Yard Fight were the trickiest to recreate. I had to play around with the motion blur control. The motion blurs on Golf was a little easier to do. The original motion blurs were a little faint to where you can see through them. I examined the original boxes and noticed that. Lowering the opacity on the motion blur layers helped a little. It took so many tries until I got it right. Redrawing the Sports Series logo and tracing it into a solid vector also added more work. I couldn't find a font that matched for the words "Sports Series". Even the font couldn't be identified in the WhatTheFont forums. Instead of retyping the words with a different font that isn't close, I manually traced the letters as best as I could and applied a color overlay. I keep everything original as much as possible. Restoration is not something you can rush. The site has been in need of better, higher quality covers for the black box NES games. I'm planning on doing more black box game covers in the future. Now head down below and get those covers! Happy gaming!

One thing I've wanted to do for a while is pull those category icons into Inkscape and see if I can make vector replicas of them. Unfortunately, my work and school schedule leave me little to no time to do this.

@StratosVX
That's cool that you wanted to make vectors of the black box category icons. I have a vector of the Sports Series icon in my Box account. It's located in the Vector Logos folder. I also have the front and back Sports Series icon pre-sized for the front and back. They are in the Templates folder. I will be making more black box icons as vectors in the future.

I got around to making the Robot Series logo in vector format, located here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=10FxItj57oW9PZGn63HDCn17gofvmx9BD). I know there are only a couple of games that use this one, but ROB will always have a special place in my heart. I still have mine, in fact. Anybody is welcome to use the logo.

EDIT: I've updated the link to a folder that will hold the vector logos I'm creating. I've added the one for the action series.

Hey gamers! What's up? I am back once again with two more NES covers. Anyone up for some casino action? I have two casino video game covers for your collection. I never knew Vegas Dream was the first game to Vegas Stakes. I learned about that when I looked up information on the game. In Japan, it's called Viva! Las Vegas. The other game cover I made is Casino Kid. First time playing this game, I got hooked on trying to beat all 16 Poker players and Blackjack dealers. Once I beat them all, I played against the last opponent called the Casino King. I put in so much time into this game and wrote down so many passwords. Casino King is a fun game to play. As a special added bonus, I also restored the original Casino Kid poster that was included in the box. It was a little challenging to do. I had to scan the poster in four parts because it was big. Then I stitched the scans together in Photoshop. Getting the artwork lined up properly with the other scans was tricky. Two months ago, I did my first two Game Boy posters and now I did my first NES poster. I would like to give a big shout out to StratosVX. Good job on making that Robot Series logo in vector format. It looks so sharp and crisp! I have more NES covers coming soon. Please be sure to check back often. Happy gaming!

Kinda funny, I just looked it up and the series names in Japan and the US are kinda funny:

Japan============USA
Viva Las Vegas=====Vegas Dream (FC/ NES)
Las Vegas Dream===Vegas Stakes (SFC/ SNES)
Las Vegas Dream 2== (PS2, Japan only)

And there's also an English only Vegas Stakes for Game Boy.

Wow! It's been a little over a month since I posted covers. Did you guys miss me? I missed all of you too. I have two new NES covers for everyone. These are the hardest NES covers I have ever worked on. Othello took so much work and I had to rigorously clean the scan. Since that cover has stars, I had to double check the box to make sure I wasn't removing stars. Trying to clean a scan that has stars can get tricky because wear marks blend in with stars. This is something you can't rush. Restoring something takes a lot of time. You also need to have skill, passion, and most importantly... patience. I put in over 15 hours on each cover. Monopoly took just as much work because I did so much manual tracing of the logos and artwork. Remaking the gradient in the background on the front was tricky. I had to experiment back and forth with the gradient overlay. Redrawing the Monopoly guy into a vector was tough. I found one mistake on the legal text and I fixed it. The mistake said, "Nintendo Entertainment Systems". The console is called "Nintendo Entertainment System" not "Nintendo Entertainment Systems". It blows my mind when I find mistakes on the original boxes. I can't help but think, "How did Nintendo miss that?" As a special added bonus, I also bring you the poster for Monopoly. The poster took so much work. Making vectors of the houses, trains, and utilities for all the properties was kind of tedious. The legal text on the bottom left had the same mistake as the original box. This poster would look nice in anyone's game room. I'm very happy to finally share some new covers with everyone. It's cool that you fix mistakes, but some people like to keep the mistakes, for authenticity to the original box.

Thank you, marioxb! That's cool, but, I couldn't see myself keeping the original mistakes. I read everything to make sure every sentence has proper grammar and spelling. Spelling mistakes are the worst.

I just meant two versions, one official (with mistakes) and one without. Doesn't much matter to me, but I'm sure there are people who like the mistakes. Personally, I don't much care for retranslations on rom hacks. I like the way they were originally because that's how I remember them. "I AM ERROR", "A WINNER IS YOU!" or uncensoring EarthBound, Final Fantasy or whatever, I usually prefer the originals. It depends though. Like I'd rather have Poison and Roxy in Final Fight instead of Billy and Sid.

Hi, everyone! It's been so long since I made a new NES cover. The new cover is Rollerball and that's not all. A few more bonuses are also here. I also restored the instruction poster that came with the game together with the HAL America promo poster. This is a complete package and I'm very excited to be sharing these with all of you. I was very surprised when I got Rollerball and found a fold-out instruction poster instead of an instruction manual. I had to scan both sides of the instruction poster in two parts and stitch it together in Photoshop. The instruction poster is big and can only fit on a sheet of ledger size (11x17) paper. If you don't have a large format printer, you can print the instruction poster on a sheet of legal size (8.5 x 14) paper. If you're printing it on legal size paper, scale it down to 72%. The HAL America promo poster has some cool artwork with information on four games available from HAL America, Inc. The HAL America poster is very large. It's 15.22" wide x 11.86" high. In order to print it at the original size, you will need a large format printer. Otherwise, print it on legal size paper at 72% scale. The instruction poster was a lot of work. I had so many black outlines to trace on the pinball playfield art. After that was done, I traced it into a vector. I did the same for the little pinball playfield on side 2 of the instruction poster. There was so much text to type. Once both sides of the instruction poster were done, I felt like I accomplished something very big. Now I can see why we don't have scans of instruction manuals here on The Cover Project. Manuals are very tedious to make and hard to scan. In order to scan an instruction manual properly, it would require removing the staple from the manual spine in order to get a nice flat scan. I don't want to risk destroying an original instruction manual. You can find instruction manuals everywhere on eBay. Hope you guys enjoy this complete package for Rollerball. See you next time!

Hey, guys! It's been so long since I posted a new NES cover. I am back with The Simpsons: Bart vs. The World. This is my first Simpsons video game cover. There was so much work to do. I started out by using the polygonal lasso tool to go around the curves and select all the black lines that make up the artwork. It was very tedious and it took me 10 hours. Once that was done, I applied a color overlay to the layer. That makes the whole layer one solid color. This is very good for redrawing artwork. After that, I put in the solid colors inside the lines for the artwork. Some characters and objects I traced with Vector Magic. Colorizing the vectors in Illustrator was nice and easy. Once I inserted the vectors into the cover, they looked so sharp and crisp. Gradients also had to be recreated on the front. If you look carefully, the front has some gradients for the sky, the left, the right, the bottom center, and the sun rays on the left right above the mountain with the words, "North Pole". Recreating a gradient is tricky. First, you have to use your eye dropper tool to get the color from the scan. Once you copy and paste your layer, you apply a gradient overlay and play around with the gradient sliders until you get it right. Some parts of the artwork had some drop shadows as well as inner shadows. Recreating them was challenging. The back and spine wasn't as hard to do because the background is solid white. Normally, I start with the front. After that, I work on the spine and then the back. Instead, I worked on the back first because there weren't as many characters to recreate into vectors. Retyping the text went fast and there weren't any spelling or grammar mistakes. For the whole cover, I put in over 100 layers. That's a new record for me. I can't tell you how good I felt once the cover was finished. It took me a month to do it. I put over 30 hours of work into this. That was quite an accomplishment for me. However, I'm not sure I would try doing a cover like this one again because it was so hard. Making this cover once was more than enough for me. More covers are coming soon. Happy gaming!

That's pretty awesome! I just never understand why you guys need to recreate covers, rather than just clean up scans. I mean I get if the original was in bad shape or there isn't a high quality scan. For me, I don't want anything BETTER quality than the original, but that's just me.

If you're cleaning up the scan, then you're already changing the image either way. If you descreen the halftone dithering to prevent moire patterns, you're recreating the cover's source image. If you adjust the contrast or color balance from what your scanner captured, you're recreating the colors of the image. If you use "heal" or "despeckle" to fix dust, creases, and fibers, you're recreating the image. You're just relying on an automated process to do it. So it really just depends on how much work you want to put in :)

But if you want the printed result to be anywhere near the quality of the original, then the image you're printing from has got to be "better quality than the original". Otherwise it's the "Xerox effect". The original printing of the box introduces flaws. The scan will be less perfect than the printed box. A JPG will be less perfect than what the scanner captured. Your print will be less perfect than the JPG. If you want something approaching retail quality, then you've got to get in there and reverse some of that entropy.

Hello, everyone! Rockabilly1983 here! I have another NES cover for all of you. It's Who Framed Roger Rabbit. This cover wasn't as hard to do as the last cover. When I cropped some of the information text and uploaded it to the WhatTheFont Forums, font enthusiasts couldn't identify it. I guess it's not a real font. I found a similar font in the results list, but, I wasn't going to retype the information text with a different font. Not even a similar font. It would have been a shame to get rid of the original font. What I had to do was manually trace every letter in Photoshop, apply a color overlay to the layer, and trace it into a vector with Vector Magic. Copying and pasting every letter was very time consuming. I started by putting "A" into every word that used it, then I moved onto "B" and went from there. There was no Q, X, or Z in the information text. I wonder what those three letters would have looked like. While I was working on this cover, I thought about my favorite parts from Who Framed Roger Rabbit and cracked myself up. I first saw that movie when I was 6 back in 1989. Even though I liked it back then, it took me till my adult years to really appreciate it for what it is. That movie is timeless! I have the movie in my LaserDisc collection. It's so sad that Bob Hoskins died. He did a great job playing Eddie Valiant. He's also one of my favorite actors. I never played the NES version as a kid. I played the Atari ST version as a kid. The Atari ST version is very different from the NES version. The Atari ST version has 4 levels and you play as Roger Rabbit. Every time I play the Atari ST version, it brings back fond childhood memories. Did you know? The font used for "Can you solve the mystery?" is Balloon P Extra Bold. That font is also used on the Nickelodeon logo. I thought you guys would like to know that. See you guys next time! I'm going to end this update with one of my favorite quotes from Who Framed Roger Rabbit:

"I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way."

Hi, guys! I wanted to let all of you know that I found Q and X in the instruction manual for Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I didn't think the manual had the same mystery font used on the back cover. I scanned the page with the two letters. After that, I traced them in Photoshop, applied a color overlay, and turned them into vectors with Vector Magic. I couldn't find a Z anywhere in the instruction manual. I read the whole manual twice to make sure I didn't miss any words spelled with Z. No words spelled with Z? What the heck! It's a shame. That would have allowed me to get the whole mysterious font in vector form. If you want to use those letters, they're available in my Vector Logos folder in my Box account. They are in their own separate folder too.

First off, I am a new Cover Admin. I'm very stoked and this means so much to me. I would like to give thanks to Snowcone, Arseen, segamer, sheep2001, BadChad, KaiserWAVE, tiktektak, and Bear78. Bear78 is now a Cover Admin too. We are now partners in crime. Ha ha ha! I'm trying to learn how to approve and upload covers to the main site. I'm so excited about helping the site more. Now, just what you all have been waiting for. The new cover for this update is The Black Bass. Here is something interesting for all of you. This game is known as The Black Bass II in Japan. I didn't know there was another game of The Black Bass in Japan. I don't know why we didn't get both games in the USA. They decided to release only the sequel here. Since we didn't have the first The Black Bass game, it wouldn't have made sense to call it The Black Bass II. So what did they do? They simply called it "The Black Bass". Here is something I found odd about this game. On the title screen, it says, "The Black Bass USA". Why did they add "USA" on the title screen? It blows my mind. I remember when my older brother asked my mom to rent this game for him when I was 7 back in 1990. Every time I look at the box art, it brings back fond memories of when I would see it on the shelves with all the other NES games you could rent. Enjoy my newest NES cover and I will see you guys next time!

Pretty much just the spine.  Some people prefer the retail look which is the original spine while others like having something on the spine to identify the platform, in this case, the "Nintendo Entertainment System" branding at the top of the spine.

Hey, all you gamers out there! I'm back once again with two versions of one cover. Before I begin, I would like to say thank you to TheLastMeddler. I noticed that you also have a question about the difference between Full Retail and TCP Retail. Bear78 already answered your question. However, I am going to give a more detailed explanation.

Full Retail means the cover is the original retail version. This is what the box art looked like when the game was originally released. Some hardcore collectors prefer this version.

TCP Retail is slightly different. Although the front and back look the same, the spine has the system name at the top in a white border. The spine also has the company name at the bottom in a horizontal style. This gives the cover a uniform look. It also matches the style modern video games have on their spines. Examples are: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii, Xbox, and Xbox 360. Most collectors use this version.

It all comes down to personal preference. If you want your covers with the original spines, use the Full Retail version. If you want a uniform look, use the TCP Retail version. "TCP" stands for "The Cover Project".

Now, on with the show! Many people have said Blades of Steel is the best hockey game on the NES. The cover is now here in two versions. You're probably asking, "Rockabilly1983, why did you make two versions of Blades of Steel?" That's a good question and I will do my best to explain. I made two versions because I discovered by accident that the loose copy I bought of Blades of Steel for the original empty box has the oval Seal of Quality on the cartridge label. The empty box with the manual I bought at Portland Retro Gaming Expo last year has the round Nintendo Seal. Then I looked on eBay to find a boxed copy that has the oval Seal of Quality. I did some research and here's what I found out. When Nintendo first released their NES games in 1985, they used a round Nintendo Seal on their boxes. I think Nintendo replaced their round Nintendo Seal with the oval Seal of Quality starting in the 2nd half of 1988. Some of the black box games were re-released with the oval Seal of Quality. Golf, Pinball, and Excitebike are a few examples of this. Check your copy of Blades of Steel to see which version you have.

If your cartridge label has the round Nintendo Seal, you have the 1st version.

If your cartridge label has the oval Seal of Quality, you have the 2nd version.

There is also a 3rd version with a red border on the box and the cartridge label. The border has the words "Konami Classic Series" at the top. Unfortunately, that version is very rare. The Konami Classic Series version was requested by Hatereternal. I will buy that version one day and get it made. Trust me. Now I'm going to start working on another cover. I will have it up very soon. As usual, happy gaming!

Hey, guys! How are you doing? Here's another cover for everyone! It's an arcade classic called Elevator Action. This game is so much fun! My brother used to play this game in the arcades when I was a kid. I remember renting this game a few times from Albertson's back in the day. I'm still not able to approve and upload covers to the main site. I hope one of the site administrators will get the Admin section fixed soon. Redrawing the artwork on the front took some time. Once it was finished, I couldn't help but look at it and think, "Man, that looks so sharp!" You know what I found odd about this cover? The back has two screenshots from the arcade version. I wonder why Nintendo did that. It blows my mind. Recreating the background gradient was tricky. I had to play around with the sliders in the gradient overlay control panel. I also had to experiment with different shades of red, orange, yellow, and green until I found the right ones. Using the original box as a reference, I got the colors and the color blends very close. Head on down to get the cover. Be sure to check back often too. I will have another new cover for you then. Happy gaming!

Hey, guys! I'm back once again with three more NES covers for your collections. I have two versions of Pinball and R.C. Pro-Am. Remember in my post where I told you about the two different USA covers for Blades of Steel I made? Well, there were some black box games I mentioned there.

"When Nintendo first released their NES games in 1985, they used a round Nintendo Seal on their boxes. I think Nintendo replaced their round Nintendo Seal with the oval Seal of Quality starting in the 2nd half of 1988. Some of the black box games were re-released with the oval Seal of Quality. Golf, Pinball, and Excitebike are a few examples of this."

I realized later on that it wasn't 1988. I did some research and found that Nintendo started putting the oval Seal of Quality on the boxes in 1989. Anyway, I made my third black box cover called Pinball in two versions. The Cover Project really needed a better, higher quality cover for this game. Be sure to check your cartridge label to see which version you have. If your cartridge label has the round Nintendo Seal, you have the 1st version. If your cartridge label has the oval Seal of Quality, you have the 2nd version. I'm going on vacation to Italy again with my mom. Our trip starts on Thursday, October 3, 2019. I will be gone for three weeks. I am so excited and I can't wait to see my family. With my birthday being on the 11th of October, it will be my first time celebrating my birthday outside the U.S. I'm also going to London for the first time for a couple days. I'm looking forward to checking out the Cereal Killer Cafe, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and many more famous places. There is even a classic arcade in London called The Four Quarters. The arcade machines they have run on U.S. quarters. I think that's really cool. I will be back in time for Halloween. Halloween is my most favorite holiday. Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween! I won't have any new covers until November 2019. See you guys again when I return from vacation!

Hello, everyone! I missed all of you. For the past three weeks, I would get an error message using this site. It was very frustrating and I had to wait a long time before I could go anywhere else. I'm so happy Snowcone applied a patch so the site is working good again. I had a great time in Italy. Celebrating my birthday outside the U.S. for the first time was so exciting. We celebrated it at a nice restaurant called Ristorante Lorietta. It's a beautiful restaurant up in the mountains near Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. I also had a great time checking out London for the first time. I didn't expect to see so many people always walking around on Brick Lane. That street has restaurants and grocery stores everywhere. I was blown away. I didn't have much time to explore Buckingham Palace because I had to hurry back to the airport to catch my flight back to Pisa. I will make a reservation to see inside the castle in the future. Anyway, when it was time for me and Mom to go home, my aunt and her husband cried. They always do that when we leave. I hate leaving my family. I'm glad to be back with lots of new NES covers.

I have 8 Black Box covers. Many people have been wanting better, higher quality covers for the early NES games. Before you start collecting the later games, why not start collecting the early games that started it all? These were a little challenging to do. On some of the covers, they had "gameplay" spelled as two words. That has to be spelled as one word. The stars are not in the same location on the black box games. I had to copy and paste my master stars template into the background and copy and paste some that weren't there. Once that was done, it looked like a brand new cover. Redrawing the pixels on these were tricky. I had to do lots of measuring with the marquee tool to make sure they are equal or close to it. I'm very thankful this site is still running good even after Snowcone applied the patch. I would hate it if this site disappeared. Today is Thanksgiving. Gather around with your family and friends and enjoy some turkey, cranberry sauce, green beans, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. After you're done eating, be sure to play some video games. Happy Thanksgiving!

Merry Christmas, everyone! I'm back with a few more Black Box covers and a 2nd version of R.C. Pro-Am. Yes, I found out by accident that Nintendo re-released R.C. Pro-Am with the oval Seal of Quality. How many more covers are out there like that? I will never know. Ha ha ha! Volleyball was probably the most challenging Black Box cover I worked on. It has a big amount of pixels on the front. Did you know? Volleyball was the last Black Box game released in 1987. After that, the games Nintendo released came in silver boxes. It makes me wonder why Nintendo went from black boxes with stars to silver boxes with no stars. I can't help but be fascinated, though. I'm looking forward to Christmas. I wonder what I'm going to get this year? I will just have to wait and see. The best things in life are worth waiting for. I'm sure many of you have been wondering when I will make Game Boy covers again. I'm planning on making more soon. It has been 7 months since I made a Game Boy cover. Before I let you go, I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See all of you in 2020!

Hello, game collector!

Your mission, if you choose to accept it...

Rockabilly1983 — the portable cover master — has made his latest cover for Nintendo Entertainment System. In order to get this cover, you must navigate this post by scrolling down until you come across the links for it. Follow the first link and get the full retail cover of Mission: Impossible or, follow the second link and get the TCP retail cover of Mission: Impossible. Which route you take is up to you. Once you have downloaded your cover, you must turn on your printer. To pull off this operation, you must be daring enough to use semi-gloss paper for the official look. 50lb premium matte paper is a nice alternative. You must use a paper cutter to get nice straight cuts when cutting out the cover. To complete your mission, slide your cover into Shadowfox's NES Custom Game Case.

This forum post will self-destruct in 2 seconds!

Good luck, game collector!

......................................................BOOM!

Ha ha ha ha! Did you really think this forum post was going to explode? Ha ha ha ha! Gotcha!

Did everyone have a nice Christmas? My Christmas was a lot of fun. My 2nd oldest nephew got a Super Nintendo Classic Edition. I couldn't believe it. He nearly flipped out. He was so excited to play it too. I have lots of time off from work to spend time with my family. That gave me lots of time to make the cover for Mission: Impossible. There was a grammar mistake on the original box. Speedboat was spelled as two words. I fixed that and it's now one word. I didn't think I would get this cover done so fast. I'm looking forward to my flight next month to Portland, OR for the video game swap meet. What am I going to find? We'll just have to wait and see. Since Christmas has come and gone, I'm going to wish all of you a Happy New Year once again! I will be back with another cover in 2020. See you next time!

Happy New Year, everyone! Here is my first NES cover for 2020! It's Captain Skyhawk. That's not all. The original box also had a Milton Bradley games promo poster. Since posters are big, I had to scan the poster in 4 parts and manually stitch the raw scans together in Photoshop. Not only are you getting my latest NES cover, you're also getting the poster that came with the game. In order to print the poster at its original size, you'll need a large format printer. However, it will still look good if you scale it down to fit on one sheet of paper. One of the most fun things happened in my life. I went flying with my brother for the first time on Friday, December 27, 2019. I met up with him at Sacramento Executive Airport. We flew to Davis first so we could refuel. While we were refueling, I could smell manure. It was very pungent. There are lots of farms around Davis University Airport. After that, we flew to Placerville, took a little break, then we flew to Columbia. When we landed in Columbia, we started getting hungry. We walked over to a cafe to have lunch. The burger I had was so delicious. After lunch, we headed back to the airport and flew to Auburn so I could see his 4 seater airplane. I also got to meet some of the guys that do professional airplane work. After that, we did a touch and go at McClellan Field and flew back to Sacramento Executive Airport. I had so much fun flying in my brother's 2 seater airplane and I can't wait to go flying with him again. Flying has been his dream for so many years. When I was a kid, I remember how fascinated he was with airplanes. He drew many pictures of them. He also played Flight Simulator II on the Atari ST. My brother was 14 when I was born in 1983. Isn't this neat? I started working on an aviation related video game cover after flying with my brother. Talk about a coincidence! The Portland Video Game Swap Meet is in two weeks. I'm all set for my flight to Portland, Oregon! I hope I can find some good deals on complete in box NES games. Are you chomping at the bit to download the cover and poster yet? Well, I better let you go so you can download them. Please enjoy!

Hey guys! I'm back with two more NES covers for your collections. These covers were challenging and it took me three weeks to do these. Silent Service was the most challenging. The Silent Service logo was tricky. I traced the logo into a vector first. After I pasted my vector in, I had to apply a separate gradient overlay to each letter, together with different angles, after copying and pasting one letter at a time. I had to play around with the different colors in the gradient overlay until every letter looked right. It took me two days to recreate the Silent Service logo. There is artwork that goes from the front to the spine. Redrawing the artwork was hard here. When a box has artwork that goes from the front onto the spine, it adds to the difficulty. Overall, I'm very happy with the way Silent Service came out in the end.

The 2nd cover I made is Super Mario Bros. 3. I played this game so much as a kid. I still like this game to this day. My youngest nephew found a loose copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 at EcoThrift last month. I cleaned it for him. He also asked me if I could make a case for him. I helped him case up his other NES games too. I didn't think the front would be so hard. Everything looks simple, except for Mario. I got all the black lines traced into a vector. Now, if Mario was drawn with solid colors, it would have been easy. But here, he has shading. Adding shading to artwork takes a lot of time. It requires a lot of playing around with layers. I used some motion blurs, gradients, and the smudge tool. It took me a week to redraw Mario together with shading him. This is my first time redrawing artwork with shading. I put in over 50 layers. That was the hardest part of restoring the cover for Super Mario Bros. 3. The original box had a dash between the words "game show". There was a dash on "outswim" too. I double checked these words on Google. "Outswim" is spelled as one word, just like "outrun". We don't use a dash on those two words.

Here is a little update from last weekend. I went to Portland, OR and I scored a lot of complete in box games. I got 9 NES games, two Game Boy Advance games, two Super Nintendo games, and two instruction manuals. The manuals I got were for Super Mario Bros. 3 and Snake's Revenge. I have been looking for a copy of the instruction manual for Snake's Revenge for many years. I finally found one in decent condition and now my copy of Snake's Revenge has the manual. The complete in box games are going to be revealed later in the forums when I get them made. I had a great time. I was surprised to find out that Portland Retro Gaming Expo is going to be in August instead of October this year. I can't wait! I think it's going to be another great event this year. I wish I lived in Portland instead of Sacramento. If you made it this far, I would like to congratulate you. Patience pays off. Now go and get these two covers and case up your loose games. Game on!

Hi, everybody! How are all of you doing? I have a lot of stuff for all of you today! I have two NES covers and two posters. I had the poster for Arch Rivals on hold for over a year. I'm glad I decided to scan the poster and stitch it together before I sold my copy of Arch Rivals. I found the same Milton Bradley Games promo poster in my complete in box copy of Marble Madness. The poster has the round Nintendo Seal in red. Making the first version of the poster was simple. I had no idea a different version of the Milton Bradley Games promo poster existed. Unfortunately, I haven't made the cover for Marble Madness yet. I will have it up soon. The two covers I made are The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle and The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout. Since I made the Game Boy cover for The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle back in June 2016, I thought I would make the two Bugs Bunny NES covers. I was very stoked when I found a vendor at the Portland Video Game Swap Meet last month selling both Bugs Bunny games for the NES. These covers may look simple, but, they were harder than I expected. I had to take extra care to make sure I recreated the triangles and the gradient used on the front and spine of The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout as accurately as possible. Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, and Yosemite Sam used in the background on The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle were redrawn into vectors. I found the same pictures of the characters in the instruction manual. I scanned them and traced them into vectors. After editing my vectors in Illustrator, I had to rotate each vector and shrink them down while keeping the portions constrained. You should see how sharp and crisp they are. Bugs Bunny and Honey Bunny on the back of The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle were also redrawn into solid vectors. "Nonstop" and "Blowout" on the back of The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout were spelled with dashes. I corrected those words by removing the dashes. Those words are not supposed to be spelled with dashes. I could tell you more things I did to restore the covers and posters, but that would take me too long to explain. The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle is the only NES cover I have seen where the oval Seal of Quality is slanted on the front. I think Nintendo did that for comic effect. No matter which cover you use, these games will look very nice on your shelf all cased up. The two posters will look very nice on your wall. You can even stick them on your refrigerator if you want. Well, I better let you go so you can download these covers and posters. Happy gaming!

Hi, guys! I'm back with three more NES covers. These covers are not for a game. Instead, these three covers are for the NES Cleaning Kit. Nintendo just couldn't make one version of the box art, huh? Did anyone ever use this cleaning kit back then? I'm sure some of you may have used it. Of course, we have better ways to clean our NES cartridges today. I found a vendor at the video game swap meet in January 2020 selling the first two versions of the NES Cleaning Kit. When I got home, I bought the third version on eBay. My most favorite of the three is Version 3. I remember seeing this back when I was a kid. I thought it was so cool how the front cover has Mario wiping the screen. Making vectors for all three of these covers was very time consuming. When I made vectors for the NES system, game cartridge, and cleaning cartridge, I had to rotate several lines and put them together until they looked just right. It felt like putting lots of pieces of lumber together and then cutting off lines that are too long. Those vectors are also available in my vector logos folder for anyone who needs them.

Sorry, I have been absent for so long. These took quite a lot of work. I'm very happy to be sharing them now. The last two months have been something with the Corona virus going around. I haven't been affected by the Corona virus, thankfully. My mom and the rest of my family hasn't been affected either. Grocery shopping has been hard to do lately because people here in Sacramento, California have been buying up all the toilet paper, cleaners, disinfectant wipes, water, and lots of food. I have never seen anything like this happen. What blows my mind is the fact that over 12,000 people in Italy have been affected with the Corona virus. In California, a little over 130 people have been affected with the Corona virus. Schools and colleges have been closed, events have been canceled, meetings have been canceled, even bars have been closed. Some restaurants have also closed due to the Corona virus. Making covers and playing video games helps keep me entertained while we wait for the Corona virus to die down. There is hope for next month. Just take precautions like maintaining a social distance of 6 feet, wash your hands often for 20 seconds, sneeze into your arm instead of your hand, and you'll be fine. These are the same precautions I have been doing ever since I was a kid.

Okay, everybody! Head on down below and get the three different cover variations for the NES Cleaning Kit! The black cleaning cartridge does fit in Shadowfox's NES Custom Game Case.

Hi, everybody! I'm back once again with another NES cover. Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I bought The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants at the Portland Video Game Swap Meet in January 2020. I decided to buy Bart vs. The Space Mutants because I thought it would be cool to do another Simpsons video game cover. All the manual tracing of the black lines was so tedious. I had to keep taking breaks from it. It took me 18 days to do this cover. Yesterday was my first day working from home. I work for the State of California. An order was put in for all State employees to work from home due to the coronavirus. I had to set up my work computer at home on Monday March 30, 2020. This is my first time working from home. It has been fun and unique. Work has been slow and that gives me a little time to work on video game covers. I don't know when I will be able to return back to my workplace. I may have to work from home all through April. Remember when I said I didn't think I would do another cover like Bart vs. The World because it was so hard? Well, I changed my mind. I like a challenge and Bart vs. The Space Mutants sure as heck was one. I even played the game. This game is very challenging. Level 4 is the hardest. I lost so many lives falling to my death when I was trying to get past the dinosaur. Once I beat the game, I felt so good. Bart vs. The Space Mutants was one of the hardest games I have ever played. Be sure to stay tuned for more covers. See you guys next time!

Hey gamers! What's up? I have another cover for all of you today. It's an arcade classic and the site needed a better, higher quality cover of Galaga: Demons of Death. This cover was hard, but nothing like Bart vs. The Space Mutants. I picked up this game at the video game swap meet in Portland, OR back in January. I bought the 1st version which has the round Nintendo Seal. I found out that Nintendo re-released this game with the oval Seal of Quality when I looked at copies on eBay. When I checked the main site, I found Lumberjack42's cover for the universal game case. When I saw the cover had the oval Seal of Quality, I was very happy. I didn't need to buy the 2nd version on eBay. Using Lumberjack42's cover of Galaga: Demons of Death allowed me to see where the oval Seal of Quality needs to be on the front and back. I resized some pieces of his cover in Photoshop. It took me a few tries to get the artwork lined up with the source on my cover. I noticed that the legal text is also different on the two box variations. Take a look and you'll see what I mean. Why is the game called Galaga: Demons of Death? Why not just Galaga? That's what the arcade game was called. The coronavirus pandemic is still going on. Don't worry, I still haven't been affected. This coming weekend is when BABSCon was supposed to be held. I can't go because it has been cancelled due to COVID-19. I had to cancel my train fare, hotel stay and weekend pass. Next month is Pin-A-Go-Go (aka Golden State Pinball Festival) and that has been cancelled too. So much for cycling to Lodi from Sacramento. I hope California Extreme in July won't be cancelled. Not being able to go to these annual events because of the virus is what depresses me. Don't get too sad, guys. Things will get better someday. Even though we can't go out to restaurants, events, or an arcade, I am still here making more covers while I work from home. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

Hi, guys! I have another cover in two versions for you today. Remember when I said I would have Marble Madness up soon? Two months later, it's here. I found out this arcade classic has two versions of the box art. I checked eBay and bought a complete in box copy of the 2nd version that has the oval Seal of Quality. The copy of Marble Madness I bought on eBay also included a Marble Madness poster. On the other side of the poster was a promotion for many other games available from Milton Bradley. As a special added bonus, both posters that came with Marble Madness are also here. I had no idea that the Milton Bradley promo poster would take so much work. I took extra care to make sure all the text boxes with the game information text for each game had the same paragraph spacing. I also checked to make sure each paragraph was lined up perfectly. I found a mistake on California Games. "Roller Skating" was originally spelled as one word on the information text. Roller skating is two words; not one. Skateboarding is one word. These covers and posters took lots of time to restore. I'm very excited to be sharing these with everyone. I don't know when I will be able to go back to my workplace. I may have to work from home throughout the whole month of May too. We'll see what happens. Head on down below and download my newest covers and posters. See you guys next time!

Never noticed that Corvette ZR-1 Challenge was only released my Milton Bradley with that title in Europe. The US version was released by Absolute as Race America. Would be cool to get a custom US MB version just as on the poster using the PAL cover. Anyone have a scan?

I didn't know that Corvette ZR-1 Challenge was only released in Europe. We got that game in the USA as Race America instead? This is so fascinating. I like the European title better. I don't have a scan of Corvette ZR-1 Challenge. I made a note of what cover you would like. It would be my first time making a custom cover.

Yeah, I didn't know either until I looked it up from your poster. The Corvette title is way better. I guess the reason was they couldn't get the Chevy license here and changed all the Corvettes to Dodge Vipers. I've never played either version. Just thought it would be fun to have US covers of all the games on that poster.

Rockabilly1983 strikes back with two more covers for your collection. I bring you one cover in two versions again. This time it's Ghostbusters. I picked up the 2nd version with the oval Seal of Quality at the video game swap meet in Portland, OR back in January 2020. The copy I bought was unique. The cover of the instruction manual was signed, "James AVGN". I'm so stoked I found a copy of Ghostbusters with James Rolfe's autograph. Do you know how hard it is to find used NES games signed by James Rolfe? This is one of the coolest things you can have in your video game collection. Imagine getting one of your favorite video games autographed by the guy that plays the Angry Video Game Nerd. It's electrifying! For the price of $40, it was worth every penny. The Angry Video Game Nerd may hate this game, but I like it. Be sure to buy the Ghost Alarm at the beginning of the game. It will help you see which buildings are blinking red when you're so far away. Be sure to earn enough money to buy the Anti-Ghost Suit and the Sound Generator. Those two items will help you a lot on the stairway. Earn at least $130,000 before you buy them. When you do that, the scrolling message, "Enter Zuul Building" will still be on the screen.

Now let me tell you a little bit about the cover I did. I looked on the main site and found Lumberjack42's Ghostbusters cover for the universal game case. It was the 1st version with the round Nintendo seal. This helped a lot. I didn't have to buy the 1st version of Ghostbusters. I used part of his cover as a reference to see where the round Nintendo seal needs to be on the front and back. The words, "Licensed by Nintendo for play on the Nintendo Entertainment System" had to be moved down a little for the 1st version after I completed the 2nd version. For the back, I just had to copy and paste part of the back from Lumberjack42's cover. After that, I lined it up as close as I could. Then I had both Nintendo seals in place. Be sure to check back often. I will have another cover up for you then. Happy gaming!

Hey, all you video game players and collectors out there! I'm back with more covers and this update packs an incredible punch! This is something many people have waited for. It's Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out!! There are three box variants of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and two box variants of Punch-Out!! As an added bonus, a letter from Mike Tyson is also here. Did you know? Every new copy of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! included a letter from Mike Tyson. The original letter is rare and worth $40 - $50 by itself. Many people threw away this letter back then. I don't understand why people would throw it away. Now you can print out a fully restored copy of Mike Tyson's letter and include it with your copy of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! I measured the letter very carefully. It is 8.44" x 11". Do you know which cover of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! you need? I'm going to help you identify which version you may have so you can print out the correct cover.

First, look at your cartridge label. Does your cartridge label have the round Nintendo Seal? If it does, you may have the 1st or 2nd version. The box art has REV-A on Version 2, but not on Version 1. Both cartridge labels do not have REV-A next to the round Nintendo Seal. You will need to look at the sentence bullets. Are the bullets white or orange? If the bullets are white, you have Version 1. If the bullets are orange, you have Version 2. Does your cartridge label have the oval Seal of Quality? If it does, you have Version 3.

Here's something interesting about Punch-Out!! It came out after Mike Tyson got in trouble. The last boxer is Mr. Dream instead of Mike Tyson. Mr. Dream fights in the same style as Mike Tyson. Both games play exactly the same. Both covers of Punch-Out!! have the oval Seal of Quality and the red bar at the top with the system name. Version 2 is slightly different. Although it has the same red bar with the system name, the red bar also has the words, "Classic Series". None of the Punch-Out!! cartridge labels have the red bar at the top. Only the box art has it. Here is how to identify the two versions of Punch-Out!!:

Look at the bottom-left corner of your cartridge label. Version 1 has the system name with the Nintendo logo. Version 2 has the system name all in letters without the Nintendo logo. You can see what I'm talking about if you look at the system name logos on the bottom of the spines on the full retail covers of Punch-Out!!

Now I'm going to tell you about the spelling and grammar mistakes I fixed. I'm going to start with Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! There was only one grammar mistake. It had "knockout" on the last sentence. Knockout is an adjective. The sentence talks about knocking out Mike Tyson. In this sentence, we are supposed to say "knock out", which is a verb. When I fixed the grammar mistake, I had to edit some of the spacing between the words. Here are two sample sentences using knock out and knockout:

Knock out (verb)
I'm going to knock out Mike Tyson and become the new boxing champion.

Knockout (adjective)
The woman behind the front desk is a real knockout. Although you can only see down to her waist, what you see is what you like.

Ha ha ha! That is an actual sentence from Leisure Suit Larry 6: Shape Up or Slip Out. You hear that at the very beginning of the game. Leisure Suit Larry is one of my favorite graphic adventure game trilogies. This post is all about the covers for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out!! I don't want to get too off topic.

Now I will talk about the spelling and grammar mistakes I fixed on Punch-Out!! Both versions had "reissue" spelled with a dash. That word isn't spelled with a dash. I removed the dash after retyping the text. On Version 2, the word "heavyweights" was spelled with a dash. Heavyweights is not spelled with a dash either. I removed the dash on that word too. Best-selling was missing a dash and I added it. I have always seen "best-selling" spelled with a dash. The sentence that starts, "Dance left, then right, dodging punches and throwing your own", needed a comma right after, "Dance left". "Gameplay" on Version 1 was spelled as two words on the disclaimer text. It's now correctly spelled as one word. That's the last mistake I corrected. Logos have been traced into solid vectors. They're also available in my Vector Logos folder for anyone who needs them. These covers took so much work. I'm very happy to finally have these up. I have been wanting to do these covers for so long. The boxes had so much wear. I had to rigorously clean the scans.

If you made it this far, congratulations! I enjoy talking about how I restore these covers. Right now, you guys are probably chomping at the bit to download these covers. This is the longest post I have ever written in this forum thread. Well guys, head on down below and download those covers! Stay tuned for more new ones. Happy gaming!

How's it going, everybody? Rockabilly1983 is back with another NES cover. Here is an interesting cover for all of you. It's Version 1 of Super Mario Bros. 3. You're probably thinking, "Wait a minute, rockabilly1983! Didn't you already make a cover of Super Mario Bros. 3?" Yes, I did. However, I didn't know there was another version of Super Mario Bros. 3. This version has "Bros." on the left instead of on the right. The screenshots are also different. Version 1 is hard to find and goes for more money than Version 2 which is common. I saw a copy of it in January when I was in Portland, Oregon for the video game swap meet. That is how I found out about Super Mario Bros. 3 having a left Bros. version. I had to wait until I could find a complete in box copy that wasn't priced too high on eBay. I got an offer for 10% off from the seller when I added a complete in box copy to my watch list. I played both USA versions of Super Mario Bros. 3 and I found two differences in the game. Here is the first one:

Version 1 Card Matching Game
Toad says, "Flip over any two cards and see if they match. Miss twice and your out!"

This game contains an actual grammar mistake. The last sentence is supposed to say, "Miss twice and you're out!" They couldn't fit "you're" because there wasn't enough room in the text box.

Version 2 Card Matching Game
Toad says, "Flip over any two cards and see if they match. You can only miss twice!"

Here is the second one:

Version 1 Princess Toadstool's Letter
"You can stomp on your enemies using Kuribo's shoe. I have enclosed a jewel that helps protect you."

Version 2 Princess Toadstool's Letter
"You can stomp on your enemies using Goomba's shoe. I have enclosed a jewel that helps protect you."

Did you know? "Kuribo" is the Japanese name for "Goomba". I guess Nintendo decided to change Kuribo to Goomba so American players wouldn't get confused. You see this letter after you complete World 2. I thought you guys would find that interesting. If your copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 has Bros. on the left, consider yourself lucky. You have the first, hard to find version. If you need to buy the manual for your copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 with Bros. on the left, check the front cover of the manual to see where "Bros." is. Most instruction manuals you will find on eBay has "Bros." on the right.

I would like to give a shout out to JackieX. Good job on those covers! I wasn't aware that E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released on the NES by Khan Games. I also noticed the other cover for Larry and the Long Look for a Luscious Lover. From what I could see in the screenshots, that is the first Leisure Suit Larry game. The original name is Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. I will need to buy this game someday. I mentioned a sentence from Leisure Suit Larry in my previous post with Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Punch-Out!! Now there is a cover for the first Leisure Suit Larry game on NES. Talk about a coincidence!

Anyway, back to Super Mario Bros. 3. If you're looking for Version 2, the cover is on page 6. I also updated the image name by adding Version 2 in parenthesis. If you look very carefully, the drop shadows on the Super Mario Bros. 3 logo are slightly different. The drop shadows on Version 1 are thin. The drop shadows on Version 2 are thick. Both logos are available in vector format in my Box account for anyone who needs them. I feel good having finished another cover. I will have some more covers up soon. Take care and stay safe, everyone!

Hi, everybody! I'm back with two Konami classics: Top Gun and Top Gun: The Second Mission. The sequel took the most work. Every NES Konami game I have seen uses the font Eras for the information text. When I acquired Top Gun: The Second Mission, I was surprised to see they used the font Helvetica instead. Why did Konami use Helvetica instead of Eras? I don't understand it. I have made three aviation related video game covers so far. Something great happened last month. My brother earned his pilot's license on Wednesday May 6, 2020. I went flying with him for the 2nd time on Sunday May 10, 2020. It was Mother's Day. My youngest nephew came along too. It was my first time flying in a 4-seater. My brother's 4-seater airplane was all finished and ready for flying. I liked the 4-seater better because it's bigger, and flies much smoother. My brother doesn't have his 2-seater airplane anymore because he sold it last month. It was so much fun flying from Sacramento to McClellan Airfield, Chico, and Willows. My brother flies as though he's been flying for years. His very first flight lesson was on August 6, 2016. He finally pursued his dream of flying in his late 40s. I remember how fascinated he was with airplanes when I was a kid. My all-time favorite airplane is the C-5 Galaxy. That is, in my opinion, one of the greatest military airplanes. I flew on those airplanes many times as a kid. They are so big, they can carry a tank; even a jeep. My dad was retired military and that's why we were able to fly on those airplanes. However, we could only fly if there were seats available. If there were no seats, we had to go back home and try again another weekend. We flew on those airplanes to go to Italy because they were free to fly. I could talk about my memories of airplanes some more, but that would take me all day. Enjoy the two Top Gun covers. Happy gaming!

Congratulations to your brother! I've always loved the idea of flying. I took hang gliding lessons for a while and I've flown ultralights. One day I'd love to ride in a biplane. I want to be able to feel the wind on my face as I'm in the air.

Thanks for the great covers!

@StratosVX
Thank you, StratosVX! I don't think I would be brave enough to take a hang gliding lesson. I would like to fly in a biplane someday. Biplanes were used a lot during World War I. I didn't know biplanes are still made today. I thought they were only made during the early years of aviation. I'm very fascinated with aviation.

It's been my pleasure making these covers!

Several years ago I was down in Palm Springs, CA and there was a place where you could pay for a ride in a biplane. I didn't do it because I was visiting my grandparents and we had plans for pretty much the whole trip but I've wanted to go back ever since.

Wow! I didn't know you could do that. It would be a great experience for me. Maybe I can ask my brother to fly me to Palm Springs one weekend. I looked at the map and noticed that Palm Springs is east of Los Angeles. That would be a nice long distance flight. It would take approximately 3 1/2 hours starting from Sacramento Executive Airport.

Hi, guys! Did you miss me? I sure did. I realized that I have been absent from this forum thread for five months. I decided to take a break from NES covers and make Super Nintendo covers. If you want to see the Super Nintendo covers I made for the last five months, go here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=21383.15

Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower Voyage. The United States Mint and the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom are making silver and gold coins honoring the Mayflower Voyage. Head over to usmint.gov to order those coins if you like to collect coins like me. Making covers for this site is not my only hobby. I like to collect old paper money and coins. I started out by collecting all 50 State Quarters back in 2016. I collected the low mintage 90% silver proof quarters. Those quarters were originally struck from 1999 to 2008. I was in my first year of high school when that quarter program started. Let's get back to the new NES cover.

Here is the cover for A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia. This is one of my childhood favorites. Every time I look at this cover, it brings back fond memories of when I first rented this game in 1990. I was 7 years old at that time. I would always get excited looking at all the different NES games you could rent. This game was made by David Crane; the same guy that made Pitfall! on the Atari 2600. I didn't know what to do when I played this game as a kid. Playing it again as an adult, I figured out how to get to the end of the game. I was always fascinated with how different flavor jelly beans would turn the blob into different objects. I found out that "jelly bean" is spelled as two words, just like pinto bean and black bean. It was spelled as one word on the front and back of the original box. I fixed the mistake by spelling it as two words. On the back, "on" has been changed to "in" on the 2nd sentence. The sentence now starts with "Join him in" instead of "Join him on". Now that sentence has the correct grammar. Getting the dots into a pattern for the background was tricky. The original box had the dots going straight and then they started curving slightly. Some of the dots had to be removed where the text and logos are. Once I got the position as close as possible to the original, I was satisfied. While I was working on this cover, my mouth started watering and I started having a craving for some jelly beans. I said, "Darn it! Now I want some jelly beans." That made me laugh. I had to do some grocery shopping a few days ago. I bought myself a little bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans while I was at WinCo Foods. It had been over a year since I had some jelly beans and I forgot how good they are. When I was a kid, I didn't like jelly beans. I started liking them back in 2011 when I attended the Bronies of Northern California meetup group at the Jelly Belly Factory. Most of their meetups were in the bay area. I didn't attend a majority of them because the bay area is too far away for me. One day, I'm going to take the train from Sacramento to Suisun/Fairfield so I can visit the Jelly Belly Factory. Combining cycling with train travel is adventurous. You go green and save money at the same time. I'm still working from home and there still isn't a date when I can return to the office. I may have to work from home all through 2021. We'll have to see what happens when we get to 2021. Enjoy my latest NES cover. Happy gaming!

Hello, fellow gamers! I have another new NES cover. This is another one of my childhood favorites. I bring you The Rocketeer. I rented and played this game a few times when I was a kid. I couldn't get past Chapter Four because it was so hard for me back then. Now I can get past Chapter Four without any problems. I beat the game for the first time. Even though I enjoyed this game back then, I never watched The Rocketeer. I should see the movie someday. I remember how very popular it was back in 1991. I even remember seeing the commercial for the NES game. Those were some fun times! This is the 2nd hardest NES cover I worked on. The two Simpsons covers I made were the hardest. It took me two weeks to make this cover. The most tedious work was tracing the dark red curvy lines on the front, spine, and back, including the artwork on the front. The logo also took a lot of work. When I traced all the dark red curvy lines, I had to redraw some of them on the spine so they connect with the lines on the front and back. If I didn't do that, the cover wouldn't look right. The font used for the information text has a cool name. It's called LTC Glamour Medium. The original box had a spelling mistake. It had "rocket pack" as one word. Now it's spelled as two words. A rocket pack is also known as a jet pack. I read a little bit about jet packs on Wikipedia. I didn't know those things existed. I thought they were made up. More covers are on the way. I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hey, gamers! What's up? Here is another movie-based video game cover! This cover is for Dick Tracy. When I went to play my personal copy of Dick Tracy, I discovered by accident that my copy had a Dick Tracy poster. I started drooling and said, "I forgot my personal copy has this poster. I need to make this for The Cover Project too!" The cover took me five days to make. The poster took me two days to make. They were much easier to make than The Rocketeer. I was 7 years old when Dick Tracy came out in 1990. Like The Rocketeer, I also never saw Dick Tracy. I remember seeing the preview for Dick Tracy on the videotape of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. I'm surprised Bandai never made a video game of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. That would have been a cool game for the NES. Want to know what The Rocketeer and Dick Tracy have in common? Those movies were made by Walt Disney Pictures. I didn't play Dick Tracy until 1995 when I was in 5th grade. One day at school, I met a girl named Elizabeth during recess that year. Elizabeth was in 4th grade. She liked me and she introduced me to Dick Tracy. When I first played Dick Tracy, I didn't know what I was supposed to do. We got along and played a lot of video games together. A few other games she liked were Marble Madness, Monopoly, and Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. Although she was fun to hang out with, she lacked manners. That's the only thing I didn't like about her. Christmas is right around the corner. Can you believe it? There are only eight days left until Christmas Day. I'm afraid this year is going to be the loneliest Christmas. Not having any of my family over in order to be safe sucks butt. I wish the coronavirus would go away! 2020 has been a very bad year, but there is hope for 2021. I will still be here making covers. I might finish another cover before 2020 is over. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, everyone! I can't believe I made another cover two days before Christmas. This is my first remake. Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes of Major Championship Golf was the last NES cover I made with the old Lexmark scanner. With my current Canon Pixma scanner, the covers I have been making are higher quality and more color accurate. My old scanner could only scan up to 600 dpi. My current scanner can scan up to 1,200 dpi. That's a huge improvement! If you want to see the old cover of Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes of Major Championship Golf, it's on page 3. I deleted the old cover. I also updated my original post with new links for the newly improved cover. I left the old preview image there for documentation purposes. To be honest, I was never fully satisfied with my old covers. I noticed the colors were a little dark on my old Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes of Major Championship Golf cover. Even the title was kind of hard to read. Now with brighter, more accurate colors, the title is much easier to read. The screenshots were very soft and didn't have much detail. Now the screenshots are sharper and have more detail. Check out the preview image on page 3 and then on page 8. You'll see the differences. My plan for 2021 is to remake all my old NES covers from January 2017 to October 2018. I'm going to do the same for the Super Nintendo covers. Only three old Super Nintendo covers are left to remake. I remade six of them. I realized later that I never made a Game Boy cover for 2020. This year, I made NES and Super Nintendo covers only. Don't worry, I have plans to make Game Boy covers in 2021. I'm currently working on my own template for all three types of Game Boy games. I would like to thank everyone that has given me praise over the years. That means a lot. Very soon, we'll have to say goodbye to 2020 and say hello to 2021. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Don't forget to play some video games!

Hi, guys! Sorry, there hasn't been a new cover in so long. I have been busy. I have also returned to the office on a rotational basis. I now have to report to the office once or twice a week and work a full day there. All the other weekdays, I still work from home. Going to the office again feels like the pre-pandemic days. That also allows me to ride my bicycle more often. I attended two of the five annual events I go to every year. On the 2nd weekend of October, I attended Pin-A-Go-Go in Dixon, CA. On the 3rd weekend of October, I attended California Extreme in San Jose, CA. I was very stoked that those two events were being held this year. It was the best birthday present I gave myself. I turned 38 on October 11. I can't tell you how much I have missed playing video arcade games and pinball machines. Both events required proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. You also had to wear a mask at all times. It was so fun cycling from Sacramento to Dixon for Pin-A-Go-Go. They changed the name Golden State Pinball Festival back to Pin-A-Go-Go. I'm glad because I never liked that name. Pin-A-Go-Go sounds fun and cool. That pinball event will always be known as Pin-A-Go-Go to me. Looks like they moved the event from Lodi back to Dixon. They already have their next event planned and it's going to be in October 2022. I wish it was in May so I could log miles for May is Bike Month. Taking the train from Sacramento to San Jose to attend California Extreme was so fun and exciting. I have never been to San Jose alone. San Jose is where California Extreme was originally held. I don't know what year they moved the event to Santa Clara. Those are all the updates. Now for the fun stuff!

This is a very special post. Alex Trebek died last year due to cancer. I can't believe the host of Jeopardy! is dead. It's just not fair! Alex Trebek has been the host of that game show ever since I was a kid. I saw a little bit of Jeopardy! on TV two weeks ago. Jeopardy! has a new female host and it's not the same without Alex Trebek. I had a lump in my throat watching Jeopardy! without Alex Trebek. Game Show Network honored Alex Trebek's memory. I'm very happy they did that. To honor Alex Trebek's memory, I made all the Jeopardy! covers for Nintendo Entertainment System. Two of the games came with GameTek promo posters. I restored both of them and they are here too.

There are two versions of Jeopardy! and Jeopardy! Junior Edition. Here is how to identify the version you may have for these two games:

Jeopardy!
If your cartridge label has the round Nintendo Seal, you have Version 1. If your cartridge label has the oval Seal of Quality, you have Version 2.
For the instruction manual, it's very easy to know which one you need to buy for your copy. The front of the box art is on the front cover of the instruction manual. Version 1 has the round Nintendo Seal and Version 2 has the oval Seal of Quality.

Jeopardy! Junior Edition
Both cartridge labels have the oval Seal of Quality. I needed to buy a better condition complete in box copy and I discovered this by accident. I examined the oval Seal of Quality and found ® instead of TM on the bottom right of the oval Seal of Quality when I was looking at copies on eBay.

Version 1 has TM on the bottom right of the oval Seal of Quality.
Version 2 has ® on the bottom right of the oval Seal of Quality.

Be sure to check your cartridge label so you can print the correct cover. The front cover of the instruction manual looks pretty much the same for both versions. There is a unique code on the front cover of the instruction manual. Here are the codes:

Version 1 has NES-J2-USA.
Version 2 has NES-J2-USA-1.

That covers all the information you need for Jeopardy! and Jeopardy! Junior Edition. I uploaded and approved all of my larger size Game Boy covers for the main site. I did the same for all my Super Nintendo covers. I feel I have accomplished so much with remaking the last old Lexmark scanned Super Nintendo covers. All of my Super Nintendo covers have been made with my current Canon scanner and I will be making more soon. One day, I will upload and approve my NES covers for the main site. I have 16 old NES covers to remake with my current Canon scanner. It's going to take a lot of time, but it's worth the wait. I'm glad to be back with new covers, fellow gamers! Enjoy the Jeopardy! covers and promo posters. Happy gaming!

What's up, guys? I am back with another cover and it's a remake. I bring you my newly improved cover for Anticipation. This was the 2nd NES cover I made back in January 2017. Did that bring back some memories? It did for me. Want to see the old cover? It's on Page 1. I updated the links because I deleted the old cover. I kept the old preview image there for documentation purposes. I discovered by accident that two versions of Anticipation exist. The two covers have minor differences.

Version 1 has REV-A in a standard font under the word "System" and Version 2 has REV-A underneath the border of the photo on the right in bold. The position of the legal text on the back is slightly different on the two versions. The border on the photo is also slightly different. The difference is at the top. There is a gap between the guy's head on Version 1 and there is no gap on Version 2.

The round Nintendo Seal on the back is now more retail accurate. I didn't like the way the first round Nintendo Seal looked when I first made the Anticipation cover. I checked many copies of Anticipation on eBay to see if there was a 3rd version with the oval Seal of Quality. I didn't come across one. I only found some sellers selling cartridge only copies of Anticipation that has the oval Seal of Quality on the front label. All the other copies of Anticipation don't have a seal on the front label. If there is a Version 3, it's probably rare.

Thanksgiving is in two weeks. I would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!
