Title: Customgamecases.com questions
Post by: goose2029 on May 24, 2016, 02:34:22 PM
Hello relatively new to the scene but I have been following the customgamecases website for a while because ive been itching to buy a large bulk of cases, however from the facebook page and the inactivity in the website, im a bit reluctant to purchase said Bulk and have a probablity of it not arriving anytime this year lol I know now that its shadowfox that makes these prestine cases and they are high in demand...but even when adding over 100 cases in the cart, originally that gives you free shipping (yes these are with covers) but I wanted to know if anyone else has been purchasing from the website with no issues or encountering anything like this.

Shadowfox has been 100% reliable as far as my own experience goes. However, I contacted him directly.

I've purchased from him at least 3 times and even met up in person once. There is nothing to worry about.

I have ordered 700 cases from him already. He is 100% reliable.

Well I know that shadowfox is reliable but it seems these past few months there have been inactivity, i did pm him from all his channels of communications, but to no avail...has anyone done recent orders that have come through? And if anyone ordered 100+ cases and recieved free shipping as told on the shipping table contents?

I ordered something a few months ago (100 nes cases) and they arrived within a few weeks.  I think the guy is just busy.  He's always designing new stuff.  I have PMed him in the past (about GBA cases) and he was always good for a response within a few days

He's been a very reliable guy for me too. Everything I've ordered from him came quickly and packaged very well with no damage.

I'm still kicking around.  ;)
=SMALL LIFE UPDATE FOR EVERYONE=
My existing game case types have been moving nicely these last few months, I've been mainly working with the factory on the SNES/SFC and N64 cases molds and they keep dragging things out. It is the busy season for me with my day job and I have been trying to keep up with the game cases at night. I have been in the process of moving and then to top it all off I had some down time this last week and a half due to my appendix trying to kill me.  :) (Don't worry, if I ended up dead my Wife and Sister already know what to do about expanding the game cases. lol)
I'm actually sitting here right now trying to get a handle on my 200+ legitimate e-mails and I decided to pop in here to see whats new. :D I'm totally around if any/all want to talk.... it just might take me a day or two to reply.

Ohhhh man I haven't felt the discomfort of having my appendix going haywire but ive heard how bad it can be :( I actually sent you a PM and a email Shadowfox, I was trying to take advantage of order over 100 cases to get free shipping...and the cases range from nes snes n64 gbc gba and genesis (i know not completed yet) but I wanted to ask a few questions because its going to be a big investment on my part and there is so many videos on your product, I feel your the man for the job :)

To echo the others: 100% reliable and quality is top notch. I have gotten ~500 cases from him in the past and will order more NES cases shortly.

So now that I am relatively underway of buying the cases quick question for everyone else...

Since this is a website about Repro cases..
How did you guys get involved or started doing research about it.
Do most of you guys print out the artwork yourselfs and just buy the cases?
How much have you spent on repro cases and artwork or both x x
How much is too much?
anddd yeahh lol

Just curious since im like the only person in my area that even thinks about this stuff, so I want your guys and gals opinion.

Some people use more expensiive paper i myself use regular Staples legal paper and print the covers on a canon printer, comes out just fine to me

Yep.

Ditto, when I worked in a print shop in college, I used 100lb semi gloss paper on a professional digital press, it's as close as I could get to actual DVD case paper, infact I think it's slightly better than it and damn did the industrial cutting machine make cutting so much easier :)

Ask for customgamecases.com, 100% wonderful cases, when I got some GameBoy cases shipped awile ago, the shipping was super fast and there's honestly little difference compared to the official Nintendo DS cases, I need to get some brand new Sega MegaDrive cases from him in the future :D

Just a heads up it will take a few days to get the shipping confirmation, it's a dude doing this not all of Amazon lol, takes some time

I just got the shipping number today on my second order from him, my first order was last year, out of all 50 GB cases and 5 NES cases (wanted to sample them) I only had 2 GB cases with issues, and one was obviously a handling issue during shipping
This leads to a 2-3% defective rate depending on if you blame him or the shipper

On the last 200 UGC's I bought before I had about an 8-10% defective rate, on the last 50 Euro DS cases and 100 NA DS cases the defective rate was about 7%

All said and done, I'll take the slightly higher costs and slower service to get a better product that not only is functionally better but give me more usable cases at the end of the day.

I understand there will always be problems in large quantity low price mass produced items, but ill take 2% defective rate over 7-10% any day, not to mention how much better his cases look and function over the options (much better then UGC, holds manuals, and even for GB varieties I don't have to mode them anymore, huge plus

It's a good move!  ;) I've talked my boss into allowing me to use a climate controlled office space we have had vacant here at my day job for well over 2 years now.

The 120 degrees in my garage is brutal to work in!

We should be completely moved over in about 2 days. (Small loads early mornings and late nights) then it's organizing the heck out of everything and back to banging out orders and building new cases!  8)

They are in the water and I actually just got off the phone with my customs broker getting all the paperwork sent to the port for arrival. (They have been out in sea for 4 days. (Normally a 10-14day trip I've been told)

The cases did arrive....and from the short glimpse I was able to look at before I had to rush to work, they look to be amazing quality I haven't tried putting the games in the cases, and I know the new SNES cases and N64 cases are coming but I bit the bullet and got the UGC cases for those, the Sega Genesis and Nes cases are prestine and I look foward to showing you guys the finished result. Thanks a million Shadowfox

Oooo, please let us know asap when the GB ones come, I'm down to about 12, trying to ration out by using DS boxes for GBA but I may need another 50 soon

Any ideas on the SNES and N64? I know the chatter on those kinda died off but from what I remember we were close, I just want to know if I should wait and do one huge order or just do 2 orders and bite the bullet on shipping costs?

What's the average delivery time, within the mainland United States? I placed my first order about a week ago, and the scheduled arrival is today...but FedEx Tracking only lists the creation of the shipping label.

OK, but why would the info be sent to FedEx, and a shipping label created, if the package wasn't already in the mail? I know people can print postage at home, but I always thought tracking numbers were only done by the delivery service.

While printing the lael it probably automatically gets asigned the tracking number.
Atleast so it happens here.

I checked my PayPal account again, and the status says its been shipped...which means its actually en route (or so I assume). That's what confuses me; so many places don't have a set definition for what things really mean. Growing up, I recognized "processed" as having arrived at the first departure point, "shipped" as being in transit, and "delivered" was obvious. Why do all these companies (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, etc.) have to over-complicate everything?
Title: Re: Customgamecases.com questions

in my experience processed means, order received and sent for packing - ie: not yet shipped.

Well, I finally got my order about 45 minutes ago...and with one exception, I love it. The cases are very well made, and I'm relieved to have my small NES collection better protected.

The one caveat was after opening the FedEx box, I saw 28 cases, three of which were damaged. I only ordered a 25-pack, but it seems like a waste to intentionally wreck 3 cases instead of using newspaper or Styrofoam peanuts for shipping materials. Here's what they looked like; any comments, Shadowfox?

I'm willing to bet they weren't wrecked on purpose.  I'm sure they were already damaged beforehand, and he just slipped them in to keep everything packed together for shipment.  If the sleeve is all that is damaged, you can always replace it and have a free case.

Don't understand, you bought 25 cases, he send 28, 3 of them damaged,  so you still have the 25 you pay for. Don't understand what comments are you expecting from Shadowfox.  ??? (not making this a discussion  ;D ;) )

I think he add them to fill up the spaces and protect the others.

You can take monjici or TDIRunner advice  ;)

Watch this video for a way to make a double case or to just replace the outer sleeve.

I've done it many times using Wiggy's method and I've salvaged many cases that way.  ;)

Of the three extras, only one has cuts that are barely noticeable. The others' are pretty deep, so I'll probably junk them. That leaves a single case left, plus my order of 25 and the single case I found at a gaming convention...27 in total. My current NES collection has 19 games, so that's 8 left at the most.

When will the blank "greys" be available again for the NES? Just ordered 100... My AVS is in Swedish customs and the wait made me do some NES shopping  :)

Edit: I guess they are available, even though the product picture says "Temporarily unavailable". Nice! Back to the AVS!!! Ps I can really recommend this console, every NES cart I've thrown at it looks stunning on my 4K tv. Bunnyboy has out done himself this time  :)

Got my shipment 2 days ago, and have started some sneaky printing in the work place  ;) These are really awesome NES cases! They were shipped all the way to Sweden, and only 3 of the 37 I've unlacked so far has been a wee bit wonky. 1 had a burn mark that looked a bit like somebody put out a cigarette on it, 1 was a bit crushed and one was crooked but salvageable. I think that ain't to shabby!

Will continue printing and unpacking cases in the week to come! But again, they are awesome and look so good in my game shelf!!!

Odd, I only see clear as an option for the 100.  I was looking to put in another order as my NES collection has outgrown my case collection again.  Is there any update on when the dark cases will be available in larger quantities again?

Just adding some more praise for Shadowfox. I've ordered NES, GB, and UGC cases from the website multiple times. There were some shipping delays once, but I emailed Shadowfox and he responded quickly. My first order (which was all UGC and not his custom cases) arrived damaged, and he quickly replaced them.

Hi all!  :D

Sorry I've been such a ghost lately, for my day job the last quarter of the year is insanely busy and I've been doing the work of 5 men. (I'm actually working now but even my family members are looking on TCP and nudging me to respond!) LOL

Odd, I only see clear as an option for the 100.  I was looking to put in another order as my NES collection has outgrown my case collection again.  Is there any update on when the dark cases will be available in larger quantities again?
Yes, I'm absolutely out of the NES Dark Gray cases for blank sales. I have already had an emergence batch flown in just to get some orders with covers out the door, but that solution costs me more than what I'm selling them for. I have a boat load heading my way, but the Holiday season is already upon us and everything is twice as slow and twice and expensive to get it here.

I E-mailed them a few days ago. they told me the SNES and the N64 cases were "In the water heading this way now". so hopefully they will be here soon.
This is true.  :) The SNES AND N64 cases are both heading our way. I just haven't had a moment to get the pre-orders up anywhere! >.<

Thanks! My number one problem right now is: I'm like NO WHERE! Lack of telling iinfo on my part. (SORRY! :( )  And the second issue is my turn around time on orders. (This one is getting better.  ;) )

What does it matter if he delivered 25 perfect cases? Maybe the 3 extra cases where damaged before hand.
I was just curious, that's all.

Yep, we get some cases delivered to us damaged from the factory right off the bat and I get no replacement or refunds for them, so instead of throwing them away we use them to fill in some boxes. (Like a box of 50pcs, at the end you have 2 empty spaces, we use these broken cases)

We also use broken cases for cutting down boxes, weight tests, trying out modding ideas, ...freebies (j/k) If I'm packing the box I don't do anything to the broken cases, BUT! If my sister is packing the box, she'll cut the sleeve or mark it with sharpie to make sure you can't use it. (lol) There is actually a story behind this; I had a client who ordered 50pcs of the gameboy cases and we added 2 broken ones on the top to fill the box, well that client received his 50pcs intact but gave my sister a rant about how horrible we packed it because the 2 on the top were broken "in shipping" and she basically told him we use them as buffers.. well.... he wanted 52 perfect cases even though he ordered 50. LOL I was nice and sent him 2 cases, and my sister on the other hand, wasn't happy about it and wanted to take the fight to the grave. HAHA So now she takes it out on the broken cases when she uses them in shipping.  :P

As for other news! This latest order that is heading this way has PLENTY of NES (and SNES + N64) Dark Gray cases in it! It has clears too. My next mold will be the SEGA Game Gear; I'm hoping to get it started before the year ends.

Thanks for checking in man!  Can't wait for the Game Gear cases!  That's really my only "Random pile of games needing a home" left.

Thanks for reaching out to me about the order! Glad to hear things are starting to move again. Even with the delays I think I'd come back and make my 4th purchase if you get some game gear cases out. Oddly enough that was like my second favorite system lol, and there is no good way to case those yet. Even tho I won't be able to display these for a minute because the move I can't wait to start using the SNES cases.

Hey Shadowfox, you got any idea on dimensions for the Game Gear cases yet?  Might be able to get a start on templates / covers.

Awesome to hear that SNES and N64 are on the way. My favorite video games are all just sitting around waiting for these cases!

I'm gonna have to start saving some money to order those cases before the rest of you deplete his stock. :P

Right. Reminds me of a story. A Cafe from around here had to throw away lots and lots of donuts because they hadn't sold. They started GIVING them away for FREE the second day(when they're not as fresh). Well people started complaining and bitching that they didn't taste quite as fresh as the new ones. The store got tired and stopped this generous action. We can't have nice things. If I got stuff FOR FREE I would stop complaining and be thankful(yes that includes you Moviefan2k4)

Looks like the blank Genesis cases are out of stock? Not complaining, but should we see more soon? Or if they're not out of stock, then you should know they're not showing up in the store lately.

Thanks for helping me get my loose games cased!  ;D

Yes. I basically only have clear NES cases at the moment. The last shipment I got in lasted me over a year. My new shipment should be here in like a week.  8) Then they all will go back up on the site.

I see the blank cases are back in stock, so the new shipment must have come in. Could that possibly mean *fingers crossed* that the SNES cases are FINALLY actually in stock and ready to ship out soon?!

Yes! I have em! So if you buy the "Pre-order" they will be shipped. :) My day job has been insanely busy this week so I'm up to my neck in things. But this weekend I (Hopefully) will have time to make announcements, and "Launch" the new SNES cases with a post and shoutout and photos and all that great stuff. :)

Are there any plans to ship smaller orders than 100? I really want to get the SNES cases, but my collection is not that huge. I would probably get by with closer to 20 cases. The cases looks good, and I've been creating covers while I wait to order the cases. Can't wait  ;)

I would say reach out here since some people who bought groups of 100 probably don't need all of them. Thats what I did and is probably your best bet in the short term!

Thanks, but I'm not sure if anyone is willing to ship to Scandinavia  ;) I think I'll just wait. Since all other cases can be shipped in smaller orders I assume the SNES Cases will too someday.

I am holding out for the same reason. I only collect very specific series, and I have less than 25 SNES games total.

Shadow mentioned that he's been busy, so I suspect he just needs some time to get the website updated and put together official announcements for the cases. The site still says "pre-order" even though we know now that he has the cases in-hand and is shipping them out. I bet we'll hear more in January.

Just a small update, they came in today, sadly my whole collection is boxed up at the old house still and I dont have a single game or cover to put in them yet, but, that being said, they are here, just wanted to let yall know! Box kind of took a hell of a beating from Fedex, 3 of the corners were completely open and or crushed, oddly enough through I think all 100 are still there and only one case was destroyed from what I can tell, better odds then my 100 GB cases I've gotten so far

I'm not saying you are, but any damaged product is totally the carriers fault and you can't blame shadowfox for that. If it got bad enough, I'd take up my beef with the carrier. There has only been a handful of time to where packaging has been the senders fault.
Example: I ordered F-type male to RCA female adaptor and they sent it in a freaking letter envelope... of course the paper ripped and the connector got lost in the male and I ended up getting a empty envelope.

Lucky for me, Shadowfox has packaged things well and the ones I got had no damage.
Title: Re: Customgamecases.com questions
Post by: Vaulter98c on December 31, 2016, 11:39:16 PM
O im not blaming him, I wouldn't even bother reaching out to him, these come packaged from China, I'm no stranger to shipping things across the world, I'm just saying that based on the cheap nature of things coming over that it's gone well so far, I've never had more then 2 broken cases in any of my orders, and I've never bothered to reach out about it, I know others have and have gotten cases, but it's not worth it for so few. He's a little guy trying to run a small business from his house, no need to step on anyone's toes over a few cases, the product is good enough that I can deal with it, plus I'm sure I'll make a double out of them some day so I hold on to them.

If anything it's a testament to the case design, as this box was blown all to hell and to have only one broken so far, pretty good by my terms.

Now when I bought UGC's, Every order of 100 on those would come with multiple bad cases, I think I had 7 in my last batch, and 6 of those were not because of shipping, they were cracked on the inside of the bundle or the plastic was ripped or something, but even for those I didn't fuss, I kept em for other projects and now I'm phasing them out of my whole collection, everything is going SF cases or OEM cases (DS cases that are the same as SF) or DVD cases, color coded of course. UGC was horrible for that tho, of the 200 I got I'd say 15 or so, maybe more, were F'd up. Good thing they are all going away over the next year

That sucks that the carrier smashed up your boxes.  I've had a little better luck.  I've ordered some 350 cases from Shadowfox with only one smashed case.  And it wasn't even that bad.

Where did you get the cases for Atari 2600 & Intellivision? I have not seen any cases on the sites specifically for the two systems...

Are the cases modified to allow then to fit snug, not sliding around?

Thanks

Some people use more expensiive paper i myself use regular Staples legal paper and print the covers on a canon printer, comes out just fine to me

99% chance that they are in there loose.  That's how mine are.  Since they spend most of their lives sitting on a shelf, the game isn't moving around anyway.  If you really want them snug, just add a little foam inside.

I originally considered getting UGCs, I watched a few vids and noticed that while a few of the systems carts fit decently others moved around.

I checked out Shadowfox cases CustomGameCases.com, while Nintendo based cases (which I collect also) they fit better compared to UGCs.

What I'm interested in is a SEGA type case that "locks" the cart in securely. I have lots of SEGA games most have original cases, I like SEGA type cases.

Thanks

If you want the cases to "lock" your games in place, than Shadowfox is your guy.  He has a wide assortment of cases which are fantastic.  But for systems like Atari 2600 and InteliVision, you are still going to have to go with the UGC unless you want to wait until Shadowfox gets around to them.  I know his long term goal is to case everything up, but I would think that those second gen systems are probably a lower priority.

They're already released. He just doesn't have all of the UGC covers converted yet. Only a few of the games offer the CGC case so far. It is possible they haven't been "officially" released yet, but I know they're available.

I was so tempted to preorder, however 100 was the minimum and I only have about 15 games... A child is a perfectly reasonable excuse for delays, though, congrats to him if that's true.
